Oh sorry my bad.wacko.png Middle name was not indicated in my ds 160. I just realized last night that a Middle name is a GIVEN name and that I have to list it with my first name.sleep.png  By the way, is your interview over/done/finished?smile.png 

WOW NO BIGGIE RELAX AND BE HAPPY ABOUT THE INTERVIEW DATE AS LONG AS THE MIDDLE NAME IS ON PASSPORT.. NO NEED TO SAY ANYTHING YOURSELF... IF ASKED AT INTERVIEW LET THEM KNOW YOU CALLED  THE NVC TO MAKE CORRECTION AND THEY TOLD YOU TO HAVE IT CORRECTED AT THE INTERVIEW!

Hey guys so just want to thank everyone on this site... it really helped a lot ... my wife got her visa today! she just turned in her passport yesterday and around 4am us eastern time I woke up... thought id check the site because I have nothing better to do when I wake up at 4 am in the morning... and the site said issued...I was so excited... called her to ask if she had received anything she said no.... I was like they will call you and sire enough they did.... she went and picked up the passport and when receiving the original docs back she also got back her original birth cert.... from the same lady that told her that they dint have it... and never received it ... this lady was so rude and gave us such a hard time because she said she checked the paperwork 3 times and the birth cert wasn't there handed it back to my wife... can you belive that? what an abuse of power and such in competency... don't they realize one small mistake on their part causes such a tough ordeal on ours? anyways let me stop my rant and just enjoy the fact that my wife got her ir1 visa :) super excited ... finally thank god! good luck to everyone

My wife's interview for her IR-1/CR1 visa was moved up tow different times to this Wednesday. It was originally scheduled for 5/30. She has a copy of the original packet I sent in to the USCIS, so she has lots of photos of our wedding, and our other trips together in Costa Rica, as well as letters from friends confirming a bonafide marriage. She has some receipts for money I sent her over the last year. I also sent her my offer letter from a new job I took after I sent in my 864. My question is . . am I missing anything else she might need? Does she need more receipts from Western Union or copies of my other plane tickets? She has all the other documents that are listed by the NVC, and her medical and vaccinations. I think she should be all set, but I am a little nervous and don't want to overlook something obvious.

My wife had her interview yesterday at the San Jose embassy. She will receive her visa tomorrow. Her interview was short and she had more than enough supporting documentation. biggrin.gif She will arrive in Maryland on the 15th of June.

Can someone tell me why it takes 2 month to wait for a interview once Consulate has file? The NVC sent to Nigeria today by DHL. Wonder if husband can pick up packet from Embassy? Instead of waiting until contacted.

It's not that simple as it sounds and communication with them is imperative in order to produce that document. But they are ignoring me.



If I were you, I would call them every 5 seconds, send them emails, send them letters, and even show up at the consolate constantly until they acknowledged me. They'd get the hint.

Had interview scheduled today for 11:00. Arrived 10:20 and got called 10:30. Interview took only about 15 minutes - no questions asked reg. travel abroad, traffic ticket, etc. I had an entire binder with supporting documentation with me, but nothing needed.
I had to read a small sentence (do not recall) and write "We pay taxes".
Six questions were asked (freedom of religion, state bordering Canada, When was Constitution written, Atlantic Ocean, ...) and IO stopped when I knew them. He only flew over a few of the other questions in the N400 form and it felt as if the whole thing was done in a few seconds.

I was able to obtain same-day oath at 2 pm, which lasted for about half an hour with approx. 20 individuals getting naturalized. Voter registration completed, Passport and SSA are following.

I can't believe I am done! Very pleasent experience with USCIS and record processing time. Thanks to everyone in this forum - the advice and experience gathered here is invaluable and has helped me so much to prepare for my naturalization!!!

Again, thanks for all contributors and good luck for all March filers - you will follow soon!!!

Hello,

I’m in the early stages applying for a K-1 Visa in Ecuador, received NOA1 on 11/17/10. I am currently in school, crossing fingers and hoping that the process moves along such that my fiancée gets her consular interview in the last 2 weeks of April or first week of May (the only 3 week window when I can visit). After researching how this stressful interview will go down, I definitely prefer to accompany her. So, my questions are:

1. When we eventually call to schedule the interview with our pin #, can I request a specific date later than the date they suggest?

2. Can I have my American friend, or her Ecuadorian lawyer husband accompany my fiancée to the interview if I’m not able to be there? Or am I, the fiancé, the only other person allowed to accompany her?

3. Are these questions specific to the particular country and consulate?

Send a polite e-mail with your story and request to IVGuayaquil@state.gov with subject line "To Chief Linderman". Phil Linderman was the head of the IV unit when the rest of us were going through our hell, and I believe that he was subsequently promoted to head the entire visa operations. If he's still there, the e-mail will get to him. Be sure to offer your phone numbers for a personal consultation at his discretion.

There's another way to try by phone, but read the above-referenced thread in full before doing anything at all.

Thanks T Bone. Your commitment to this thread over the years is very impressive. My fiancee actually got a call on her cell from a Spanish speaker at the consulate last week, asking for her to re-confirm her address and home phone number. Of course, they already have that information on multiple pieces of paper...Regardless, she asked when she might get an answer, and they actually feigned being apologetic, told her there was a large backlog of files, and they hope to have an answer in 3 or 4 weeks.
In light of their phone call, I am undecided about sending a message to Linderman. According to the State Department (http://www.state.gov...i/bgn/35761.htm), Linderman is currently listed as the Chief Consular Officer. My Ecuadorian fiancee and I interviewed at the consulate on Aug. 30th. For whatever reason, they didn't like us/thought there was something fishy about us, and called us back for a "more thorough" interview 4 days later. During the second interview, they grilled my fiancee for 30 minutes, separately from me, and then asked me the same questions they asked her, apparently to try catch us in lies. I'm not going to describe the possible reasons/conspiracy theories that I have as to why they didn't like us. My question is the following:
It's been exactly 6 weeks since our second interview. The man who interviewed us gave me a direct extension and told me to call back in one week for an answer, because he doesn't make the final decision. Rather, the consular officer has to review the file and decide. So, I called the next week, and I've been calling twice a week for the past 6 weeks, always receiving the same answer: "The consular officer is reviewing the file...I cannot tell you when it will be decided...please call back next week." At least, two weeks ago, the man was nice enough to say that the file was "touched" but nothing has changed since then. This week, I asked the guy, sarcastically, if it's ever taken 6 months for the officer to make a decision. Without fail, his vague response: "not usually."
I've been told there is absolutely no other person who i can call to get them to make a decision. I offered to have the officer call me back and let me answer any additional questions he may have, but that's not happening. And the line, "let me speak with your supervisor" doesn't work at the consulate. Does anybody have ANY suggestions about what I can do to get an answer? I'm in purgatory, dying a slow death, every day that goes by. The only thing that consoles me is to believe that if they were going to actually deny us, they would have done it quickly rather than drag it on for so long...or am I naive about that as well?

During the interview in Rio Brazil, they pass a list of documents that are needed. I have question about couple items on that list.

1. Sworn Statement (fiancée applicants only)

Where do I get this? Can she download this from the Internet or it is inside packet 4?

2. Proof of Citizenship or Greencard

My US citizenship paper or her citizenship paper? If it is her citizenship paper, what document does she need to prove her brazilian citizenship?

Hi gang,

I emailed to the embassy in Rio, Brazil and they received my case this Tuesday. They said that they will send out Packet 3 next week. But you know, I am kind of restless. As soon as my girl receives the packet 3 from them, I want to have everything ready to mail the same day.

From what I have read, I need my girl to prepare the following in an envelop.

1. DS-230 Part 1
2. DS-2001
3. One copy of the passport that shows personal information
4. One American style passport photo

Does it sound right to you guys? Anyone from Brazil send out their packet 3 this month? What did you guys send back to the embassy? I want to get all these done this weekend. Thank you!!!!!

Hi all,

I am trying to complete Form DS-2001 with my girl. When she is about to sign the form, there is a line stated "applicant's signature, if minor, someone responsible for the minor should sign". In Brazil, I think the legal marriage age is 21, without parents' approval. However, my girl is not yet 21 but over 18. So, at what age is considered as minor? 18 or 21?

Hi all,

Today we finally finished, quadriple checked and mailed our packet 3 to the embassy. Thank you all for your help and special thanks to Mew. It is interesting that the post office in Rio closes at 5pm. When my girl walked out the door, she met the mail man and he handed her packet 3 from the embassy! Well, we already finished our packet 3 before hand but she came back inside the house and double check the envelope anyway. You can download everything from the website except the proverty requirement sheets. I have attached the poverty requirement sheets from the packet 3 for your viewing pleasure.

The 2006 US poverty guideline states that for size of family unit of 1 (my girl), my minimum income has to be $12,250. Well, I make well over that figure. So, do I need to show my saving in my bank, my house value, mortage, etc? Or my annual salary is enough? I just don't want to show too much if my income is way pass the minimum.

Hi all,

My girl just received the packet 3 couple days ago from Rio embassy. In the Brazil K1 instruction, it states,

Approximately one month before your scheduled interview appointment with a consular officer, you will receive an appointment letter containing the date and time of your visa interview along with instructions for obtaining a medical examination.

However, medical exam instruction is in this packet. Does that mean my girl can go to the medical exam now or she has to wait until she receives the packet 4 with appoinment letter and further medical instruction?

I think that should be all for her. Of course she will get medical and police certificates locally. What else can you guys think of that I need to send to her?
