Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionSocial Security statements
Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to mail my I-751 package in the next week or so and I was wondering if I should include social security statements for me and my husband as evidence of joint address - we lived in two different places.
I've been in the country since 2001 and paid and filed taxes and all, but married since 2008.
Should I include the social security statements or not? Is there any advantage / weight in application to remove conditions?
Thanks for responding.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionW2s as evidence
How important is adding the W2s to ROC petition? The IRS transcripts I got in the mail are only two pages and don't have W2s? My husbands' last year all W2 are from out of state - he travelled a lot for work, so I don't think its a good idea to include them as this may raise questions and maybe RFE. What do you, guys, think? Thanks.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly Bio appointment
YAY!!!! I just got my NOA today, so hypothetically speaking I could call ASC, although in the NOA says that I MUST go whenever they make an appointment for me. Still wonder though if an early BIO may mess up my application process somehow or not? Maybe it speeds it up? :hehe: Thanks for responding, guys.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionEarly Bio appointment
Hi guys,

I sent my I 751 on Feb 26th to VSC and it was received on Feb 28th. They just cashed my check yesterday - March 4th, so I should get my NOA pretty soon Hopefully. Do you know how I can get an early bio appointment after I get my NOA? I see a lot of people who filed in Dec and Jan are getting early Bio. What do I need to do to get that? What are the advantages of getting an early bio? Does it speed up the process of the application? Thanks for responding in advance. And good luck to all ROC filers out there

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 March 2011 Filers
hey guys, I'm a Feb filer, but my NOA date is March 1st, so I thought I should let you know that I just received an email and a txt message and a letter in the mail (it's crazy, I know, all at the same time) saying on "Congratulations! Your Case Status: Card/ Document Production"
I'm soooo happy and relieved, guys  It took them forever, but finally VSC came through - YAAAAAY!!! So I was quite surprised as my NOA is March 1st even though I sent the application on Feb 28th. I guess that means they are slowly moving into March. Good luck to all of you!

To Moosker about early BIO - They did not ask anything at the Alexandria office. Just bring along your letter and walk in - the way I see it - early Bio can't hurt, but hopefully speed up the process, especially if you can do it 2+ weeks in advance of your scheduled time.

Sorry, my last post was in response to Amanda & Raad.

Oooh...I'm tempted to go in early too! Did they ask you at all why you didn't wait? If it's a slow office, I don't see why they would mind at all.

I just did an early Bio in Alexandria yesterday and it was fine. My original bio date was April 19th, but I just walk in the morning - very quiet and friendly office and got it done. If you drive from DC it takes about 50min to get there. Good luck to both

I'm hoping for the same, I had my AOS biometrics in Alexandria

Hey Mooseker, we are in the same boat as you - I'm scheduled for Bio in Alexandria for April 19th, but I want to go in early. (My ROC was sent 02/28 and NOA date is 03/01 - seems we'll be following the same timeline and the same local service center as well) Do you know if I can just walk in Alexandria office with the Bio letter or have to call in advance and schedule appointment? Are you planning on getting it sometime next week?

Stupid question, :bonk: but can we do our biometrics prior to our appointment? Or do we need an "reason" to do so.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January 2012 Filers

Afternoon all,

Are we having fun yet, waiting?

So, I mailed out on the 19th and check cashed on the 24th. No NOA1, no case number, no biometrics letter. They won't give us any information until 30days from when we filed. Sigh...

After viewing the timeline for CSC, looks like folks who filed after us have already received the NOA1 and the biometrics.

We moved in November and we mailed AND did the AR-11 online but got no confirmation. Could this be the cause of the delay of not receiving the NOA/Biolmetrics letters. Could this be a cause of delay if they never received this information/updated our address?

Is there a cause to worry if we miss the biometrics appointment because we never received the letter?

I am so completely and utterly frustrated. I feel like we should have gotten something. Having to wait until the week of Feb 20th for any info is so frustrating!

Argh! I really hate this process.

Did you receive a letter "Notice of Requirement to file ROC" from DHS/USCIS before filing I-751?
We got the letter a week before filing I-751 with our old address on it. Apparently our mail got bounced back to DHS. DHS request USPS our new address then resend the mail with ROC notice and AR-11 reminder in it.

We moved to another state long ago but knew nothing about filing AR-11 and I-865(Sponsor's Change of Address).

Anyway, I filed AR-11 online, and my husband mailed in I-865 Sponsor's Notice of Change of Address. He got NOA for I-865 within a week.

There should be a confirmation page for AR-11 after you click the submit button.

Thanks much for all the replies. I guess it makes sense if the fingerprints weren't taken properly/didn't take. It's just odd that the letter says that they expired. Much obliged.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionExpired fingerprints two months after they were taken
We just received a notice that my wife's fingerprints need to be taken because the one's on file had expired. The thing is, she had them retaken on 2/26, one month after we filed for removal of conditions. They obviously aren't expired, what is the real message here? Did they take bad fingerprints, did they lose them, is it just an errant notice? Her file was touched after the first biometric appointment, and then again on 3/1, nothing since. What gives?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionName Change Question: post AOS / pre Removal of Conditions

My wife came to the US one year ago on a K1 Visa.

I am happy to report that we just received her new Conditional Green Card in the mail without having to endure another interview/interrogation in order to adjust status, because her file was sent to California.  Now I plan to go down to the Social Security Office to get her a new SS card that doesn?t say ?Valid for work only with USCIS authorization.?  It occurred to me that before we go down and sit in that awful SS line for 3 hours, we should also take advantage of the trip and get her name changed.  As I checked my old notes from AOS, I came across an old VJ post that I had saved regarding when to do the name change:

?If you want your name changed, file the 1-751 to remove conditions in your now married name. That way when your approved, you will receive the green card in the married name, this way you don't have to change name with the form 1-90 and pay a fee of 450.00.?

Is this true?

I guess my primary question is, is the timing just right? Or did I miss the boat?

Am I going to get charged $450 to get her name changed right now?

If I get her name changed tomorrow, do we have to immediately file an application to change the name on her Conditional Green Card?

*As I write this question, I think the answer is becoming quite clear...you're gonna tell me YES I have to pay $450 to change the green card name immediately, particularly if we want to travel abroad between now and submitting her petition to remove conditions. Perhaps the answer for us is to wait on the name change, and legally change her name a month before we submit the petition to remove conditions in January 2015.

Thanks in advance.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravelled to canada on expired green card with Extension
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Jul 8 2008, 07:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
You should have no problems. You have received the official word from the Consulate. The Caveat is included because it is always the ultimate decision of the border guards EVERY time a non-Canadian crosses the border - not just in your situation. The border guard can deny you entry with a visa or without a visa, with a US passport or any other passport, with a green card or with the letter. The likelihood of them doing so, however, is small unless there is something that you do at the border to annoy them or make them suspicious. Bring a copy of the response from the Consulate with you along with the NOA, the expired greencard and the current passport and you really should have no problems even if you are pulled into a secondary inspection. You should not need the I-551 stamp going to/from Canada.

So, how about getting back into the states? If you can get into canada, will they let you back into the states with a green card and the extension letter? My wife's japanese, has an expired green card and an extention letter, as well as her Japanese passport that's still valid. Will she have any problems?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionExpired Green Card and I-797
My wife's Japanese, and we live in Richmond, Va. We're traveling to Seattle next month, and we wanted to go up to Vancouver, BC for a day. She is an LPR with a Green Card that expired in January, but we have an I-797 that declares her status has been extended for a year. She also has a Japanese passport that's still valid.

My main question is, will the expired green card and I-797 get us into Canada, but most importantly, will she be able to get back in??? I found another post that pretty much said she should have no problem getting into Canada, but nobody had any insight on getting back into the states. I guess everyone's trying to get out and we're the only schmucks trying to get in. tongue.gif

Also, while I'm at it, we had our appointment to remove the conditional status where we do our biometrics and what-not back in January. It's August now. Does it usually take this long to get back to us? I checked our case number on uscis.gov and it said our case was "still pending." Is this normal or is it safe to assume our application fell between the seats, so to speak?

Thanks all!!!

Hi oldahmed,

Congratulation again i hope today went well with the oath ceremony. Please when you get a chance post your experience i really want to know a few things to get ready for next weeks oath ceremony. Do i fill out and sign the questioner before i arrive or when i see an IO in the USCIS Fairfax VA office. What should i take with me to hand back to USCIS.. example: green card old and new, all docs. for traveling from USCIS, Work permit ID card and so on....

Also, shall i bring all my docs that i took for interview with me because my citizenship is based on marriage. For example marriage certificate, our kids birth certificate and so on......

Please state detail info on how the process for the oath ceremony?

Thank you again oldahmed for all your help, and i hope you can post your experience since my oath is on the 23th March.

All the best kicking.gif

Hi everyone,
Here is my experience with the oath ceremony:
Appointment: March 20, 2009 at 10:00 AM.

I was there at 9:45, went through security checks (Camera and cellphones allowed). We were directed to the waiting room at the 1st level. At about 10:30 a lady came and spoke to us. She told us to make 3 lines and get the oath letter and the green card in hand (no other documents were required). The lines were organized according to the last 3 digits of the Alien number (A#) on the green card. I waited in line then when my turn came, I handed out my oath letter and green card to the officer, he searched for my citizenship certificate, he gave me a copy of it to check if the info are accurate, then asked me to sign it. He then gave me a white envelope where he wrote the number of my seat in the ceremony room. He directed me to another waiting area.
Another person came and took us up to the second floor to the ceremony room where we were seated by numbers. The guests and family members were seated at the back of the room. We waited there until everybody was seated while music and a documentary were played and we were given small American flags. The waiting was quite long (about 45min).
The ceremony started when an immigration officer explained to us what to do and what not to do with the citizenship certificate, then another person came (I think the head of the Immigration office or something like that), he gave a small speech, then they started calling people by name to hand them out the certificate. We were allowed to take pictures during and after the ceremony.
So, this is the whole experience.

Hi oldahmed,

I have very good news good.gif (the best "LUCK" Friday 13th ever) my infopass helped a great deal. Yesterday morning (3/13/2009) i went to Fairfax VA USCIS Ofiice at 2675 Prosperity Ave.

When i arrived i talked to the IO and she told me that i should not have made an infopass because it has not been 90 days and i must wait 120 days. I told her that i have been waiting 5 weeks + and nothing came in the mail i just want to know what my status at this point because i have canceled may trips many times and put my life and family on hold waiting for the oath letter in the mail. She told me to write a letter to USCIS about my trip abroad and for sure they will get back to me. So for every question i had she had a negative answer and she just wanted to get rid of me fast.

Finally, a change of heart from the IO when i told her that i'm not asking for much but to find out what is going on and that the IO that interviewed me promised that i will receive my oath letter the next day or a week after i was approved/passed. She told me he should not have told you such promises and then she started to type something in her computer and her face change which jumped started my heart. Then she told me to wait a few minutes and took my A # and went to the back offices in the waiting area on the ground floor.

At this point i thought something bad was going to happen because of Friday the 13th. She came back after 3 minutes and told me that my oath letter has been sent out and i should get it in the mail in a few days. Then she told me that my oath ceremony is going to be at Fairfax VA DO USCIS office at 2675 Prosperity Ave on 3/23/2009. So i was happy and said thank you to her and the last thing she said to me was to come for the oath ceremony even if i don't get the oath letter in the mail. A few hours later in the afternoon my lawyer received my oath ceremony letter notification in the mail and i have not yet received anything in my mail. I'm not worried anymore because if i don't receive my letter i can take the lawyers copy and go for my oath or just show up.

I hope you get something oldahmed soon.

Good luck all and the end to my journey is near 10 days and counting kicking.gif

Thank you all for helping and i wish everyone the best of luck.

Congratulations to you oldahmed, kicking.gif kicking.gif
I knew you will get something in the mail i guess the people who had an interview on Feb 4 are getting the oath letter in the mail now wooohooo. good.gif

So what do i need to take with for the oath ceremony? just the green and my ID's like Drivers license, foreign passport, SS card...... Please let me know on what to take with me. I just don't want to carry all the docs with me. Will they need more Docs to see just in case they as for them should i carry everything i had during the interview?

Anyone please share you oath ceremony experience.

Thank you and a week more to go for all of us to become USC kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif

Thank you.
You need to fill the back of the letter you received. I assume that if there is any change in your situation since the interview; took a trip abroad, got married, got a ticket, ... you need to provide evidence. In my case nothing has changed, and my citizenship is not based on marriage, so I'm bringing the appointment letter, my Green card, my passport, and my Id card. Since my appointment is before yours, I will give you more details after the 20th.
Good luck every one.

I surfed around the net and found that a member called manty posted a website about April 12 naturalization ceremony " i think this is the special ceremony that IO told you about oldahmed" Also i based it on the information below froma the member called manty which i believe this info is correct :

The following email might be useful - I was forwarded it by a friend:

"The Washington District Office advises that for at least the next several weeks it will be reducing the number of daily N-400 naturalization oath ceremonies conducted at USCIS Fairfax in anticipation of special ceremonies involving larger groups to be held at the Lincoln Memorial on April 12, and at the new Capitol Visitor Center on an as yet unspecified date. Regular daily ceremonies will continue to be conducted from time to time, although beneficiaries of approved N-400 applications may not be provided a date and time for their oath ceremony upon completion of their interview. USCIS Fairfax will continue to provide same-day oath ceremonies in special circumstances where N-400 applicants demonstrate reasonable need, and will be flexible in consideration of these cases. They will also continue to perform same day administrative ceremonies for Sec. 319(cool.gif cases, where the applicant resides abroad."
