So we hard our interview today. Obviously didn't go so well. My fiance was asked questions about my children and both of our previous marriages. We are thinking that is what has affected our interview outcome. What should be do now?
And if we decide that I am to just move to him and get married at his place what do we have to do to cancel the K1 and change to a spousal visa?



That would be a standard question during the interview process. Not knowing the answer could be an issue...

 checkup takes 2 days...u get the reports on the 2nd day.

 recommended vaccinations depend upon ur previous vaccinations,i had to take TT,Chicken pox,MMR.

 doc basically asks u all the medical history.

 they look for anytin that u suffer during phy examination.

 yes lady docs for ladies.

This is a help from the people who went to Chennai, India for their medical test for Immigrant visa purpose:

 

My wife is going to Chennai, India for medical exam on 2nd week of November 2013. I am very much worried about the exam because she diagnosed with typhoid in august 2013. She took medications and still taking medications (antibiotics). It?s been two months she is still getting fever and she also has cough and cold right now.

 

Based on your experience do you think she will have problem getting medical exam passed? Is it going to be a big problem?

 

Can anyone share the experience getting medical exam done at Chennai Apollo Hospital? How was the total experience and how was the doctor and service?

 

I would really appreciate your help.

Dear all,

 

I want to share my experience on medical test for CR1 visa category. I chose Apollo Hospital, Chennai for my medical test. This hospital is very organised & staff are quite helpful. As soon as I informed the receptionist that I have come for my medical test for US visa, she gave me a form to fill up my basic information like, name, contact number, address. Then she asked me to wait for my name to be called. After waiting for 20 minutes, my name was called & I had to pay the registration fees of Rs.2840/. This included physical test by a doctor, blood test for VDRL & chest X-ray.Then I was told to go to first floor for my blood test and chest X-ray. After that, I was told to wait again to see the doctor. I had to wait for nearly 45 minutes before I could see the Doctor. Then the lady doctor completed her physical examination & asked me about my medical history & also, if I have ever been hospitalized. She adviced 3 different vaccinations which I had to buy from the hospital & was injected in various parts of my body:)

I was done for the day. I was asked to go to the hospital between 4 to 5 pm to collect my report. When I went on the next day, I was handed a closed envelope & advised to repeat the vaccinations after a month.

The whole process was quite smooth except for the wait time at every stage. I would advice you to carry a jacket into the hospital as the AC in the Ground floor is quite bad.

My fiance just received his birth certificate a few months ago as India did not issue them until recent years. From what I've read the late birth certificates are accepted as the embassy understands the situation. We also had his mother sign a notarized affidavit stating his name, date of birth, place of birth, etc. I read somewhere that if the beneficiary cannot obtain their birth certificate in India then the affidavit, school certificate, voters id card, PAN card, all will work as well. My wife's birth was not registered at the time of her birth as she was born in a small village in India. When she asked for a birth certificate from Gram Panchayat, she was given a letter on Gram Panchayat's letter head with her name, parent's name & place of birth but date of registration & date of issue is not mentioned in that letter. Now she is trying to get her birth registered so that she can send a proper birth certificate to NVC but the date of registration will be current date. Do you will this will be sufficient for NVC or do we need any additional paperwork due to late registration?

I hope I don't jinx myself by saying this, but this morning after yet another 3 hour wait in line, Ritesh got through to one of the Passport Officers, and his PCC and Passport should be in his hands at 4:00 PM TODAY!!! WOO HOO!! Ok, I had better stop celebrating until it is ACTUALLY in his hands...

The only bad thing is that it is too late to get to VFS, and they will be closed until Monday due to the holidays... Thank goodness they said it was ok to submit up until the 27th - we will have one week to not be completely stressed out before the medical, interview, etc. Time to schedule a massage appointment for my boo, he deserves it after the last few weeks! smile.gif

Have you got your PCC from Commissioner's office already. Does it state the duration of stay at your present address in the PCC form? I am just wondering if getting boith the PCCs will help during the interview....

I have been reading on VJ that some people have got their PCC both from Commissioner's office & PSK. Do you think it will help us in any way if we get both of them? 

Nope, no police verification if you reside at the same address as the address mentioned in the passport. If not, then it depends on the APO I think. As for what the officer said, I am sorry I cannot help you there as I am not sure if the current format of PCC contains the marital status, mine doesn't.

Thanks Sush. Did they go through the police verification for getting PCC, same as they do when issuing a new passport? I was scared that PCC letters will have my marital status, & I asked this to the officer. He said that your PCC will be issued as Single status, I didn't really understand what he was saying.

Dipikant, I was asked the same question. The PCC doesnt contain the marital status.  I am married but don't have my spouse's name in the passport. I changed it to single at the PSK centre. 

But then again this was almost 10 months ago , I dont know if things have changed since then.

Thanks a lot for this write-up and for the link for the form. It really helped me plan my visit better.

I woke up this morning and decided I would follow approach one to get my PCC. The reason I used this approach was because I would not be able track the application status if I went through the police commissioner's office.
Here are the steps I followed
1) Filled the form online and took a print of the ARN generated receipt
2) Went to the Lalbagh PSK at around 9.40 (There is a very neat parking area next to the office for both cars and motorcycles)
3) Got the Walk-in token number and went in.
4) I was out at 11.30 with 2 letters of PCC signed and stamped by the APO( Assistant Passport officer - Nice lady)

I am shocked(rather pleasantly surprised) at the efficiency with which the whole thing was done, no over crowding, no need to know somebody, nothing.All they asked me was for my old passport to verify if the details were correct.
I read somewhere that if your address is the same as on the passport and that the passport was issued in Bangalore, you will get the letter then and there. This is now confirmed true smile.gif

I would highly recommend going through the PSK rather than the police commissioner's office as the cops I have dealt with , in my locality, are a***s !

Does your PCC letter mentions your spouse name or marital status anywhere? I haven't added spouse's name on my passport & was told at Bangalore PSK that PCC application needs to mention marital status as Single or else to get spouse's name added on passport? just wondering what is a better approach now?

As I understand the process, he was to get his I-94 card back so that he could apply for SSN, AOS etc.

They gave him back nothing :o . All he has is the stamp in his passport saying that he entered on a K-1.

What do we do?

Hi Everyone!!

Hoping I can get an answer here. Per Dept of State's Jamaica site on non immigrant visas it states

Approved nonimmigrant visas will be delivered directly to applicants through a professional courier service, DHL. At the time applicants are approved for an NIV, they will immediately proceed to the DHL counter. Each visa recipient will pay a fee and will arrange all delivery details with company representatives. DHL will deliver the passport with visa affixed approximately four (4) business days after the date of the Embassy interview.

I AM WONDERING IF ITS POSSIBLE FOR MY FIANCE' TO GO BACK THERE AND ACTUALLY PICK IT UP HIMSELF INSTEAD OF DHL DELIVERING IT?
