So, if you ever want to hear updates about your case, you're going to have to call an operator. No, it's not exactly "normal", but it does happen every so often. Did you speak with an operator about this? Hey again, Called again today and one operator told me that the I-864 has been processed and that there is no record of the DS-230. Called again and the operator told me that both have been scanned into the system as received and there are no other updates. At least they got the goods and thank goodness the I-864 is OK. Did you speak with an operator about this? Yes, they told me that it takes 20 business days from receipt of the material to be entered into the system and then I should hear an accurate AVR response. I've been calling daily for updates and they tell me the same thing over and over again. I tracked my packages, and I know they arrived at the NVC, I just want to hear that they have been reviewed! Once I got the approval notice (NOA2) I followed up on my own because at that point I had already read so much on the matter that I knew more than my lawyer. Our interview was done 3 months ago and we are waiting for the Administrative Processing. I enjoyed reading the materials posted here on Ramadan. Another important aspect as we all know is zakat. I don't know about you but I have struggled with how to pay zakat here and make sure a clean charity receives my money. This year, GlobalGiving, an online portal for charity, has launched a Ramadan Giving initiative. This is a pretty new concept for a non-religious gorup to help Muslims in their charitable giving. It was undertaken in consultation with American Muslims and a site has been put up with these projects. www.globalgiving.com/ramadan You can donate to Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Morocco, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Supporting 5 people on less than 40 thousand a year is no easy thing to do, but by letting go of a lot of extras we have been doing okay, but an extra income would really be nice right about now! sorry to hear about your situation--esp that you are still waiting for the hubby to work. I'd definitely contact the congressman or better yet the senator--AND try the ombudsman. It has been well over 90 days and your husband doesn't have the EAD yet so make that case with the ombudsman. Middle East and North Africa	My Husband's Father was Deported Yesterday	I am so so sorry to hear this story. It is infuriating. I swear the people they have at the airports are amongst the most uncivilized bunch of people i have ever come across. I had the same thing happen to my uncle in 2002 b/c of some confusion. I kept calling Dulles to ask about him and i was given NO information and I paged him and everything. Finally after several phone calls someone told me "they are sending him home" and it took me a while to understand these @#$# were sending him back (they tried to make him pay $$$$ for his own return ticket). He later told us that they were rude, humiliated him, treated him like a criminal , and told him "don't worry about a hotel, you can spend the night in jail." They also did not allow him to take his heart medication and said that "you don't have a heart problem, if you did, you'd be on the floor now" keep us posted..and let us know we what we can do..	zsam	Not Telling	Pakistan	2008-07-11 23:42:00

Your fiancee's mother is not being a nut or a pain in the ... she's being a mother. she rather see her daughter married to a good person who shares the culture and the land (she wants her daughter to stay close to her) than married to a good person coming from "nowhere." Also marriage in Algeria brings not only two people together, but too families together, so they rather marry their daughter to someone whom they know the family than "a stranger". So when you understand that all what the family wants is the best for their daughter, you will know from which angle approach them. Good luck. P.S.
