CanadaBooking an interview at Montreal…

Congrats to everyone...I've been reading your posts and am anxiously awaiting too...however, in my case I can't rush into an interview yet...first need to fix up the house to get it ready for listing....then I can proceed with booking an interview and medical. Does anyone know if they've opened up more interview dates and what is the latest date available? I'm trying to stretch this to late May...maybe June. As much as I want to be with my man, there are still so many things I need to do here first..... I've waited 8 years for this, I can wait a bit longer.....well, maybe just a bit. Thanks a bundle!

Hi toocool,

I just logged into my fiances account and it looks like they currently have no appointments available and the calendar is empty. The best suggestions I have is to get a group of VJers and check the website as often as you can. When dates finally show up, either text or email each other...Best of luck to you!

Posted on their homepage: "Our system is currently experiencing technical difficulties, we are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience." Go figure...is this part of their updating the system to post dates?? Just curious if anyone has experienced this before.

Very, painfully slow. Here's hoping that's leading to good things!

You think the site is very slow from all of us refreshing every second? (the VJ effect) :P Oh the anxiety..we are going nuts! Haha.

Thanks for taking the initiative and emailing them, Matty's girl. Considering it's already the first week of March, and we need ~2 weeks for the medical check, I'd guess things are going to open up next week. Woooo! Good luck everyone!

:) Yes now we can breathe a little. Lets hope tonight!

Matty's Girl...YOU ARE A ROCKSTAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just posted a rant about Montreal but this is great news! Thanks!

You're welcome, it was my pleasure! No worries it's coming Moe.

Thanks Matty's girl! I sent an email inquiring a week ago and didn't hear anything back yet. It's great to get a better idea as to when there will be appointments. Here's hoping that maybe we will have interviews by the end of the week.

I am so glad I got some sort of response. I think they are updating there servers. YAY!!

Heads up the site appears to be under maintenance tonight, and in the past, that has been a sign that appointments might be coming available. I accidentally clicked my old favorited 'book an appointment" and it says its under maintenance..... keep clicking guys this could be it.
good luck, it will happen soon.

Hi frostiana, I was just about to post about the site Maintanace...so happy it might mean they will be adding some dates! (phew) Finally lol!! *fingers crossed*

CanadaBooking an interview at Montreal…

I went last November and paid at the interview. You bring 300 and whatever it was in cash and pay at a window. If the appointment calendar is offered just get an appointment locked in and do not worry about payment. Maybe you could look up timelines for people who went in December or January and message them to see how the payment process went... :star:

Hi frostiana,

Thank you for your feedback. I will do just that! I guess I?m just so anxious and I want to get things done already, lol. Phew?hopefully this part of the journey will end soon enough

For those who have booked recently, do we still have the option of paying at the time of the interview or have they done away with that?

Not that it means anything, but I had logged on on January 27th and appointments were available 38 days from that date. So I'd like to think another batch will open up in the next two weeks (but that's just my hopeful math, haha).

I completely understand your frustration (L) And on top of it, it's just a poorly designed system! Bureaucracy, go figure

Hi satchmo,

This is very helpful, thank you. Do you know if it matters if under ?trip purpose? I should use Permanently Immigrate to the United States (Fiance ? K1/K2) or Ready to schedule. Just want to make sure I get one quick! :)

For everyone who would like to exchange email or text, please pm for deets.

Montreal is hopeless. :( I have been trying for two weeks straight and nothing. Has anyone been able to find a date recently, just to give me hope? I’m starting to believe that “There are no available appointments at this time.” will never change from my screen. Thanks guys.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. You are all a blessing (: At least this puts me more at ease. I agree with the idea if anything comes up, please post here or anywhere, as I will do the same. I find myself checking every hour just to become more and more frustrated. :( I love that I can come to VJ and get the support needed to get through this. It is good to know others have gone through or are going through my situation. Thanks again guys…I’m sure we will make it just fine!

CanadaBooking an interview at Montreal…
Hi everyone,

My fiancés pkt 4 was finally sent to him last week, but we cannot seem to get an interview, with Montreal. I did check several weeks ago and there were some available dates. I know it might take some time getting one, but I guess I just needed some piece of mind. When is the best time to check, any particular day, is there a phone number to inquire about this? My apologizes if this has been discussed before, but this is more for my sanity and in hope that we will schedule one soon (: TIA

I was wondering the same thing if anyone could shed some light on this. I am the USC and will be accompanying the fiancé to his interview. As the USC, what info will I need to give him (letter of intent, I-134 w/ documentation, pictures, etc)? What will they ask of him that’s not already on the checklist? Sorry to bump your post Tammy.

Hi everyone,

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTax transcript question?
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Nov 28 2009, 04:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes, that will do fine. You just want the basic tax transcripts for 2007 and 2008. When I ordered them it was from a menu driven list that allowed me to choose what I wanted and the years I wanted. I had to select each year individually.

There are offices for the IRS just about everywhere. I walked in and came out 10 minutes later with 3 years of records. Good Luck...

hi everyone,

we got our biometrics appointment notice today and was wondering if anyone on the boards went to the Alexandria, VA ASC office for their fingerprinting requirements? do they allow early biometrics or are they stickler for maintaining your scheduled appointment?

thanks.

We were there Dec 16 and went in 2 hours early and it was no problem...They were friendly and it went quick for us.

You can file for NATZ three years from the date on the greencard.

...and what mermaid said....

That's from the conditional green card, correct?

I'm not worried about anything, just like to see all of the steps for planning purposes. The process just doesn't seem to make sense though if you can apply for citizenship before the ocnditions have been removed. The removing of conditions just seems like an extra amount to pay for an unnecessary service (it would be nice to be granted a 10 year visa to prevent this).

US Citizenship General DiscussionApplying for citizenship before conditions are removed
Hi,

I am still in the early stage of the journey (my fiancee just got her K1 visa approveD), but have already looked forward based off current USCIS processing times (which I know can vary). Regardless, with these estimated times I found that I would apply for AOS August 1, 2008 and would receive the conditional green card around 5/1/2009. I would apply for the I-751 to remove conditions 90 days before the 2nd year anniversary of the conditional green card, or on 2/1/2011. The I-751 at Vermont is estimated to now take 14 months, which would mean I would have my then-spouse apply for naturalization 90 days before the 3 year mark of her becoming a conditional permanent resident, or 2/1/2012.

I know the estimates are only estimates, but under this scenario, she would apply for citizenship (2/1/2012) before the conditions would be removed from her conditional 2 year green card (4/1/2012).

Can she apply for naturalization before the conditions have been removed on her conditional green card? I don't know if the 14 months that is estimated to remove conditions would pose a problem since I thought green cards were generally extended for a year, but I could be wrong.

Anyones thoughts?

AOS takes 9 months according to uscis.gov processing times, thoguh they might be shorter. Also, you may be able to get the passport stamped during the interview you and your SO will have before conditional permanent residency is issued.

Again, you may be eligible for in-state tuition as soon as you arrive based on SO's residency, or after a year of residency in the state. Check with the state's in-state tuition requirements as well as the university's requirements.

I don't think you even have to wait to be a conditional permanent resident to be eligible for in-state tuition. I contacted a couple of my local universities and found out that my fiancee is elibigle for in-state tuition based off of my residency in my state for over a year. Maybe this is a state-by-state determination, but my fiancee is eligible once she arrives. If, however, her AOS is denied while she is studying, then she would obviously lose her in-state tuition (but then again, facing deportation would likely be mroe of a worry at that point anyways).

ok guys, as far as i understand, when u become a us citizen, you can visit any country in the world with your us passport and enter to usa with your us passport, but when you enter your original country, you can use both either , us passport or your original passport...am i right? by the way my country recognizes dual citizenship ....

I am assuming you are taking into account the fact that you need to get a visa for numerous countries to enter and that some countries are basically off limits.

My fiancee is Brazilian and I understand they accept dual citizenship. Does this mean a) she doesn't need to file anything to get dual citizenship and cool.gif once she becomes naturalized she will only need her 2 passports when travelling between the 2 countries?

My wife received her 2 year green card after going through the K1 fiance Visa process back in 2008. She received her 10 year green card after lifting conditions in 2011.

An I correct to assume that because we have been married for 3+ years and have had at least conditional residency for over 3 years, that my wife is now eligible for citizenship?

I don't think that your wife's clock will be reset. However, she might be questioned why she has back-to-back long trips close to 6 months each.

right, hopefully visitng her family back to back is not an issue. After all, she is a PR, has met all reuirements, and pays taxes...

Well it's good she's not working and such and maintaining US residency, but back to back long trips like that really could reset her clock. To properly do that, she should go for how many months she wants to and make sure she's not breaking continuous residency, then wait another year and go on the next extended trip. Otherwise her clock might be reset if she goes for say 4-8 months, comes back for a short time and goes back again for 4-8 months...

well, when you say it could reset her clock, I'm not sure I'm following. My understanding is that PRs are allowed to travel for up to 6 months at a time without issue, assuming the other conditions of maintaining physical presence 180 days out of preceding 3 years in the US are met (which will still be upheld).

On the form you will enter the date she entered/enters the US. You cannot write "present" or the present date as the date entered US since it is a false statement and USCIS will definitely grill you on that. I would not complicate things and wait until she is back from her current trip. Believe me, it will save you time, money and headaches if you apply once she is back.

I agree that it is better ("safer") to wait until she is back but I'd like to hear from anyone (if available) who might have submitted it while traveling.
