K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2009 filers

Oh, you must be so excited!!! Congratulations!

The funniest thing is when people here don't know you are a foreigner and ask you the simplest questions, and you have no idea :) I walked into a bridal shop and couldn't tell them my dress and shoe size :) Am slowly learning to convert kg-s into lbs, cm-s into inches... but I still don't know my shop sizes... they seem to change every time I try something on.

LOL I know that feeling...all I know is that to convert UK sizes to US you subtract 4...so a UK 10 is a US 6 and so on...and my understanding of farenheit goes like this:

Temp in deg F: Description
0 : Basically dead unless you're a husky
10: Practically dead
20: 10 layers and a convection heater
30: Baltic
40: Chilly
50: Jeans and jumper
60: Jeans and t-shirt
70: British summer
80: Hot
90: Roasting
100: Jump in a vat of ice cubes

It's crude but effective ;)

I'm sorry to hear about your dad Jess :(, but glad he is doing better.

Your Plan B seems good to me , this way, those who can't attend the "real wedding", will attend the unofficial one  . I wish I could do that, but it will cost us a fortune

No kidding...J's plane ticket to come over for it cost me £730  Stupid bloody August. Thank god I found out I got a raise on Friday. Obviously he is worth it ;) but I can't help seeing it as a good few weeks' worth of unemployment survival...

My dad was agreeable to Plan B but reserved the right to come over in October, but my step-mum has taken my inch and turned it into a mile and is now saying that in her book there is no way he will travel. I'm inclined to agree but I felt absolutely awful trying to tell him what to do which is also basically impossible. Now I'm under massive pressure, cos I know my step-family will be furious with me if he does decide to travel, but I don't want to force my dad to miss his one chance to give his daughter away. Gah. Family politics are exhausting! :help:

OK, rant over

Wohooo Miss Jess! Congratulations

This is awesome news !And may I add you look spunky

Great news!

LOL - thank you!!

Had a bit of the come-down at the weekend unfortunately. My dad, who just turned 80, collapsed at his birthday party. He's OK, thank god (and thank god I volunteer with St. Johns - not that I was able to do much, but it kept me calm in a sea of total panic!!) - but as this is the 8th time it's happened now, it looks like he won't be able to travel to the wedding to give me away :crying:

So now we're on Plan B, which is - get Jason on a plane in August, non-legal (VERY non-legal!!) ceremony in my dad's back garden so he can still walk me down the aisle :) J's plane ticket at that time of year is going to cost a bloody fortune but I want my dad to be involved so the cost doesn't matter....I haven't told him (my dad) my thoughts yet and I know he's going to be really upset cos he hates the idea of getting old and not being able to do as much, so I'm quite strssed out.

But on the upside, I get to see J sooner than October - and it's an excuse to buy another pretty dress ;)

PhilippinesCommunication Proof

I was just looking into this last night after seeing someone post about how to get print outs of skype logs... I copied and pasted ours into a word doc and it's 350 pages long... and that's with it only showing convo after June 2011 since before that I had a different laptop. If i were to go back to when we first started dating in 2009 it would be several volumes long.

I don't plan on bringing the whole thing. I'm going to take a sampling from each month since we started dating plus cell phone bills from the past 6 months showing incoming and outgoing calls to each other. There's no way the interviewer is going to take the time to read through all of them... we would just be killing trees if we were to print the entire thing.

I think you're good with the sampling.

That being said someone who's had experience at the Manila embassy should chime in... because from what others have told me Peru asks more for pictures than anything else so I'm going to go overboard on the photos rather than the chat logs

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January 2013 still waiting??!

I file my I-751from January 2012,and still waiting.

Wow, Im really sorry to hear that! Haven't you filed for your Naturalization yet though (N-400) ? you should be eligible. We're going to file for sure in January even if we don't hear from USCIS Re I-751.

We've noticed a lot of people hear did that- file their N-400- were approved and still haven't received word about their I-751.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January 2013 still waiting??!

HI everyone,

We filed in January 2013 (details in signature) at Vermont center. Recently (October) received an RFE to provide Police Clearances because my biometrics failed twice. We sent them in and they were received 2 weeks ago.

Anyone experience a similar RFE and how long did you wait before receiving your card or an interview? We're really worried about too long delays, we're trying to travel out of country for Christmas and it seems we may have to cancel our travels sad.png

what kind of turn-around can we expect after RFE response...does anyone have experience with Police Clearance RFEs? are other january filers still waiting? it's been so stressful waiting and not being able to travel, and looks like we won't have x-mas either ClockWatch2.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January Filers, 2013

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I did make an infopass and also submit a request through the Ombudsman- and lo and behold FINALLY checked update on USCIS and it says "On January 15, 2014, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you

I think it was the Ombudsmen to be honest, because nothing else prior to that worked. Hope that means it's the end of this ordeal-No more interviews, or RFE's...card in production/approved right ? Last time I had my 'card in production' status, I had my green card in hand within a week. Fingers crossed.

Will definitely follow through with N-400 end of the month, since these delays are quite insane.

Good luck to those still waiting...and do try the Ombudsman route! It worked for us.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January Filers, 2013

Hi All,

We're still waiting for my I-751 to be approved and my extension letter expires January 28th (timeline below with delay details). It's getting ridiculous  ClockWatch2.gif  we don't even know what the hold up is. Is anyone else still waiting ??

We've contacted our congressman and his office said they contacted USCIS (this was in early December) and all they said was 'It's assigned to someone who will be looking at it soon"...really? is that all we can get. What next, what other options do we have? I'm starting a new job on February 25th and they're asking me for valid verifications of my permanent residency, but my extension letter expires January 28th. What do I need to do in the interim, if I still don't have my new green card by then?

Can anyone with similar experience please advise us sad.png  Im really frustrated and it would be so disappointing if I lose this job over something beyond my control.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January Filers, 2013

Hi Bibi & Beebti,

My case was untouched for 6 months and I called immediately after I reached the 6 months point, and I asked for a Tier 2 Representative ( I did pester them for 3 days, by calling everyday, and telling the initial person that picked up the phone that I was never connected to Tier 2, even though I was, until I got one of the 3 Tier 2s to do something).  They sent my file to a local office and I went for a wasteful 5 mins interview with my husband. I got an approval letter right there and I-555 stamp (or something of that nature) on my passport.

So keep calling until someone is able to help. Good luck

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. I got the generic letter stating that my residency was extended for one year, but 9 months on- I have yet to receive my card or any other communication. I know my biometrics failed twice, but they never contacted me back since.

How much longer should I wait before contacting them though (what is a Tier 2?) also might be traveling in December and worried about not receiving my card by then. Oh well, might just be a waiting game.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 January Filers, 2013

Hi Everyone,

Wondering if many others are still waiting to hear from USCIS about their ROC. We submitted our application on January 21st (timeline in signature below), first biometrics was in February, and then they requested another one on August 8th, which when I went to, it seemed like they had no idea I had been there before. Again my biometrics failed and we still haven't hear anything from them.

Has this happened to anyone else? is anyone still waiting 7+ months on with no word ?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F approved in 52 days....

It was 99 days for ours, so we had 50 more days to practice the "act of waiting"

I think anyone that filed at Vermont Service Center will have a lot of practice waiting. The back to back to back snow storms didn't help the situation either, lol.

Thanks for the heads up. I will ask him if doesn't mind receiving it in Portmore instead of St. Mary. The people in our district are too nosey and bad-minded. Next week he will look about the Non-impediment and police record at the same time.

Does anyone have a clue on how much the police record costs and how long it will take?

Thanks my3rmylife. Yeah, Spanish Town is not too far from Portmore. I think my fiance and I are going to stay in Portmore. He will stay by his friend and I will stay by my sister, due to the fact she has children there and we wouldn't want them to hear something thumping in the night, lol. We will either have my fiance's friend take us or charter my sisters neighbor to take us to the embassy.

Wishing you lots of luck :)

I got an email today stating that our interview is schedule for July 9th. Which shocked me, because the email I received before said it wouldn't be until late July/early August. I feel so excited but am nervous at the same time. Right now we are doing everything express and fiance is in Portmore very close to Spanish town and Kingston to do both the No-impediment to marriage and the police record. The bad news is that he has to set up an appointment to get the appointment letter. Wish us luck on these next 4 weeks.

PhilippinesPropane Protocol in PI
I'm old school for an american.

If the woman is a child of the man, then the child needs to honor their father and carry the tank.

But

If the woman is your wife, yes you should schlep the gas tank. That's what men do for their wives.
I just turned 50, my Mahal is in her 20s.

If I am fit enough for a mid 20s wife, I should be able to carry the propane tank, or smart enough to have a small cart on wheels. :)

However, in a practical sense, if the man is infirm, and the woman is healthy, then the woman needs to carry the tank.
Am I judging the man? You bet I am, but by the same yardstick I measure myself. Posted Image

PhilippinesHotels or Resorts in Pagadian, Mindinao?
Hey Guys, after my fiancee and I attend her Visa interview, I'm planning on spending 3-4 days with her family and friends in Mindinao. Does anyone have any advice on where to stay in Pagadian?

It's hard to tell from trip advisor and the various other hotel services, so any personal opinions would be preferred to 'marketing' :)

Thanks in advance,

PhilippinesFront Loading on a K-1 Application
My entire application was 24 pages. I got an RFE because 12 of those pages were my Divorce Journal, not a one page Divorce Decree. So 13 pages would have done it. I met Emely through here sister who lives near me. I proposed on my first visit. Visited again before the RFE was received. And have proof of that trip. I'm leaving a week from tomorrow for the K1 Interview. you don't need to have a lot of documentation. Give them what they ask for. don't over load them. But have a real relationship. DON"T lie about anything. if you do you're hosed. So from my experience, you don't need tons of papers to prove your relationship. Just have a real one, and I suspect things will work out fine.

Just wondering where fellow K-1 filers are planning/have gone on your honeymoons since we can't leave and re-enter the country right away. Does anyone know if going to the U.S. Virgin Islands would be considered leaving and re-entering the U.S.?

Also, how complicated is it to get advance parole?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsneed help with I-134 Affadavit of Support
Hi everyone! Just started to look at the form I-134 Affadavit of Support that I will send to my fiance for the K1 interview. A few questions I was hoping you could help me with!

1. I will not have any problems meeting the income requirements, but I am a new teacher and have just started working full-time in August. Before that, I worked part-time while I went to school. Do you think this could potentially pose a problem at the interview - that I haven't been working too long? My income tax returns will only be those I filed while going to school. I do have some money in savings and stocks as well. My dad could co-sponsor but he is paranoid about putting all his info out there...

2. Do I need to send the originals, regular photocopies, or notarized copies of the statements from employer/bank, tax returns, and pay stubs?

3. Finally, just checking that it is ok to put "N/A" in the question that asks if I plan to make specific contributions to the immigrant? (I saw this on the example VJ form)

Thanks for all your help!

Approved for visa!!!!

Hoorayyyyyyyyyyyy... Steve had his visa interview in Sydney today (30 Jan) at 8am, which went very smoothly despite a couple hours of waiting. He was thanked several times for having everything ready and in order, and the only questions they asked were when we were getting married and where we'd be living. Easy!! Nothing about the affidavit or any other forms, and no asking for evidence of our relationship. Oh well! He's leaving from Sydney tonight so they're sending his visa via Express Post.

Only 2 weeks and 6 days now!!!...but who's counting innocent.gif So many of us are so close now - just think how far we've come!!! Thanks to all fellow July-filers for their information and support - you've been a tremendous help to us both. heart.gif

Hi All!

I am just wondering - I keep reading people talk about having 3 years tax returns for the interview, but on the I-134 it mentions nothing about these unless you are self-employed. Are these just a back-up that is sometimes requested? If so, why would this not be listed on the I-134 directions?
