Does the letter from the petitioner's employer have to be sealed, on company letterhead, recent? Wouldn't recent pay stubs prove that you still have a job?

That's one of the downsides of having the forum/timelines to see when others are approved before you as well as the USCIS website which some people check on a daily basis for updates...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGetting married after K-1 approval...
A question I have wondered about and was unsuccessful googling was what does the judge/court official say at the civil wedding? Regardless of whether it's at a courthouse, church, or home (I'm planning having my friend's dad who is retired judge do it in a church), what does that person say? "Do you ... marry ...?" Is that it or something more?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsGetting married after K-1 approval...
Me and my girl planned getting legally married immeadiately when she would arrive in the U.S (so we could start the AOS process). However, we waited until after her NOA2 was approved before we really started getting things prepared (though we did preliminary research before such as where the reception would be, how big/small, etc). It was easier for us because when we saw how fast the process was going (VSC - we had our NOA2 approved in 2 months) and we knew it was best for her to finish her semester at college, we knew she would get the visa 2-3 months before she would come (and she has 6 months to enter).

So, we have already set a reception date (not real big) at a restaurant and are now just looking for a judge to marry us on that weekend (shouldn't be difficult). We have already informally invited all of our friends (formal invitations will come out closer to the event). We are so confident there will not be a problem with the visa that her parents have already bought tickets for them (not recommend this for everyone though) in the summer (prices will continue to increase due to summer travel and Delta-NW merger).

We have already decide a timeframe for our religious ceremony in her country about 6 months after our legal wedding here. That way, both sides will be able to celebrate with us. Two parties are better than one right?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 February Filers, 2013

I know how you feel Miss Jess.... I also got an RFE too!  Mines said my supporting evidence does not sufficiently establish that we didn't enter this marriage in good faith & continue to share a life together....

Yep, that's pretty much identical to the one I got. They want to see "co-mingling of financial responsibilities and residence".

The problem is...all our finances are separate because the other half's credit is less than awesome, to the extent that he is not even on our lease. So I have to figure out what we're going to do about that.

Well...we'll play that one by ear I think. I think it's easier to make things go slower than make things go faster...once our application gets to the VSC we have 4 months within which to have the visa issued, so we can delay the interview or the medical or whatever to make sure that it falls within our timeline smile.gif

I'm aiming to go out there beginning of November i.e. right before the wedding, so for that to happen will have to have the visa issued no earlier than May. If it comes a little earlier, guess I'll have to head out a little earlier, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it biggrin.gif

We just filed our I-129F last week at the Vermont Service Center and I got the NOA1 hard copy yesterday, very exciting!

Just wondering if any other November filers have a wedding date in mind? We are planning ours for August 2010, hoping that's enough time...

Good Luck Everyone!

We are filing our paperwork on Monday, arrrrrgggh!!! (we did all the papers while I was over on my last visit and post-dated everything to the 14th November for timing's sake!)

We've already booked the wedding though, for Nov 27th next year. We've obviously got a lot more leeway than the dates you are looking at, but find somewhere that has a good postponement policy. Almost everywhere we spoke to were willing to be flexible and if they weren't, we went elsewhere. The place we've booked with allow us to postpone for up to a year without losing our deposit, so lots of leeway smile.gif

I'm not sure what the rules are on Infopass... but perhaps you could make an infopass to get them the new info? Does anyone else know if that's okay?

https://infopass.uscis.gov/info_en.php that's the website for infopass.

I don't think this is a HUGE error to be honest. I would fill out a new one though and send it to your USC so he can make an infopass and hand it over (if you're allowed infopass at this stage.. i honestly don't know...). Can't hurt to try though.

I think you're right...at least if we get an Infopass they can at the very least tell us what to do, even if they won't accept the G-325a...
Miss JessFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-02-22 06:02:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F address listings

You can see it asks for the police checks at that stage. As you now know, if you were staying somewhere, and working there too, then you DID live there. Listing that you worked in France shows that you must have lived there too (unless you were commuting from your home in the UK) so it honestly depends on the person checking your file.

So here is what I would do. When sending in the paperwork for P3, I would include another G-325A with a letter explaining that you did not consider that you technically "lived" there but now realise that was an error. You should start obtaining the police certificates for ANY place you've lived for over 12 months. If it was less than 12 month then you don't need a police certificate from there.

Honestly the only way to know for sure is to wait and see. You could get through now, but hit a wall once you're in the US, or at some other stage. I personally would start getting all the stuff together.

You MAY get an RFE and you equally might not. I personally would try my best to fix it so it doesn't come back to bite you later.

Good luck. Maybe someone else has an idea too :D

I'm the foreigner. I didn't live anywhere longer than 6 months, so a police cert not required. I knew that already and yet somehow I can't fill out a sodding form correctly.

Thank you for the help. Just struggling to come to terms with the fact that something I did is probably going to delay things even more and may put our wedding date in jeopardy. My friends call me 'Calamity Jess' because of my ridiculous bad luck, so I have very very little faith in this ending well unfortunately.
Miss JessFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-02-21 17:51:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI-129F address listings
So I was filling out some of the Embassy forms I'm going to need when I get to that stage and noticed something on my I-129F that I can't believe I didn't notice before.

On my G-325A it asks for previous employment and address the past 5 years.

For my addresses I listed where I live now and my parents' address. I have lived in several other places (including the USA and France) but my credit cards, driving license, etc i.e. everything important, remained registered to those 2 addresses.

However in my employment listing I included my employment at Disney when I met my other half and when I worked in France. But I didn't provide addresses for those periods.

Whenever I've applied for background checks etc in the past I've never listed my addresses abroad, so it didn't even occur to me that the two pieces of information didn't add up.

Aside from the fact that I am absolutely kicking myself for being so unbelievably stupid (and the fact I didn't even notice til now) - are we totally screwed? Is this going to mess up our application?

From a very distressed Jess :(

Congrats Gela!

But they've been at the December pile again. A 15th Dec filer. Good for them. 39 days from NOA1 to NOA2.
And to top it all for me, Mr Doghandler was coming over to Scotland today, we've not seen each other for 4 months (cos we have those baggage items, he's got kids (total single parent dad) and dog and I've got dogs so we can't just pop over as regularly as we'd like so every trip has to be planned with military precision for child and dog care for both of us), but as I'm clearly cursed, there just had to be a 48 hour ice storm in the Carolina's today of all days and he just got a call from the ariline - flight cancelled! A total awesome week my end! Let the good times roll I say! Hope you're all having a better weekend than I am! x

Mate that sucks. I was flying to Orlando during our "big freeze" at the beginning of jan to see my boy and my flight got cancelled twice. I was actually only a day late in the end but it felt like the end of the world having not seen him for 4 months, so I massively feel your pain. And I never want to see the inside of gatwick airport EVER again!!

Just to add a little something into the mix here, our fellow and very proactive November filer Arch actually rang the vsc yesterday to ask what was up.

Of course all manner of reasons were givn including that one adjuticator may just have finished his pile and got to the December cases.

Can someone feed the other adjudicators some caffeine/speed please?!

Helloooo :)

Hopefully I can clear this up a bit!

I got the stats from:

http://dashboard.usc...amp;charttype=1

It is a chart, but if you hover your mouse over the dots you get the numbers.

The cases pending is the number of I-129F cases awaiting a decision at VSC in November - so that is the total number.

Completions is the number of decisions made in November. Receipts is the number of applications received in November (so me and Megger and a whole load of other people are in that pile!)

Although the numbers are daunting I take small comfort from the fact that it just goes to show that us lot on Igor's list and VJ are a very, very small proportion of the cases being looked at. It's quite extraordinary really...overall for all case types USCIS has over 1,000,000 cases pending.

Hello strangers!!!

Sorry I've been AWOL for a while...work are getting their pound of flesh out of me while they still can :(

Mr. Jess has just landed in Manchester and is waiting for his train to Leeds!! I am so excited!!!! We have our blessing ceremony this Saturday and it's going to be amazing...hope the weather holds out though  I will post photos!!!

I am slowly beginning to pack up my stuff...handing in my notice next week which will definitely be the scariest part. 'Hello, I am voluntarily giving up my nice well-paid job in the middle of the worst recession in history.' Yikes!

@ Jess : Lovely lovely cute superb little flowery dress :luv:. I love it :luv:
As for the shipping, depends if you are shipping furniture or not, I only took like 1 extra luggage and 2 boxes with me on the plane. American Airlines allows you to have 9 extra luggage of 22kg each with you. You pay 50$ for the first one, and 100$ for each extra one.
My mistake was the boxes, 12 kg each, would have been better if I bought extra cheap luggage to fill them up :(. had to leave over 1000€ of stuff back in france, but oh well, what's done is done.
You can have more info on their website, but it's really cheaper then shipping them via a shipping company (i've been quoted 700$)

Off to the DMV today to see if they can just switch my french driving license to an american one :) without having to drive ;)

Good luck - I know that in Florida if you have a French license you can swap it straight out for a FL one, so hopefully it'll be the same for you :) (alas, for us Brits, we have to do the full theory and practical tests in the sunshine state - but I'm hoping that as I still have my Florida license that expired in 2008 they might just let me renew it...)

Miss Jess (glad to see you survived Glastonbury, that place is not for the faint hearted!) - shipping

I used John Mason as I had furniture - and I wish I hadn't. They are one of the top companies and are not cheap, but as I was travelling the day before my removals because of my dogs and I had to have a friend stay over night at my flat and do the removals for me, I didn't want any hassle for her and I didn't want any cheap cowboys being a total nightmare. £2,400 for the contents of my whole flat, including packing it all.....but that's not what happened.

John Mason contracted out the job without telling me. If they had, I would not have paid so much. So, I was waiting in line at immigration when my phone rang and it was the contracted company asking me how much stuff did I have, cos John Mason hadn't bothered telling them! My friend told me 3 elderly men from Blackpool (still cowboys!) turned up to do the job but had been told they wouldn't have to pack anything! Scathing, emails of complaint being fired off by me to John Mason as we speak.

Naddy - good luck on the driving licence, let me know what happens there. At least you are used to driving on the same side of the road! I am not and am terrified of taking to the roads, and also of getting lost as I live way out in the country, but the sooner I get driving the better as I will be a prisoner in my own home and small town! Not good!

Thanks for the shipping advice both :) Needless to say I won't be using John Mason!!

I don't have any furniture (save a small jewellery chest my bro gave me for my 18th birthday), but my problem is all my childhood stuff. I have hundreds of photos in boxes, as well as things like cards and baby items from when I was small, and as my mum/stepdad are in the middle of divorcing and therefore downsizing to smaller places I've been told that if I don't take it with me its safety can't be guaranteed :(

So this, annoyingly, leaves me with too much weight for excess baggage and not enough for it to be worth a full removals service. I have found somewhere that claims to be able to ship a tea chest and 4 book boxes for £170 though, so it may be doable. My one hope is my dad and stepmum who are knocking about in a massive house just the 2 of them...maybe they can keep my stuff temporarily and I can get it shipped further down the line. Bloody nightmare!!

APPROVED...............     TOLD TO PICK UP THIS FRIDAY..AMOR HERE I COME

HEISABLE....YOU DID IT!!!! All those months of waiting and you're finally there. Congratulations you must feel fantastic :)

That is great news heisable. Was thinking about you. We know you were dealing with one of the toughest embassies in the world.

Just Crissie left (I think) from our gang now to get through! Happy Sunday everyone x

Mrs. Dog, quick Brit question for you - did you ship much stuff and if so who did you use?

Gonna post in t'other forum about this but Parcel Monkey quoted me £200 for a single box!! Admittedly a v heavy box but still struck me as a bit rude...

Been at home with the parentals this week going through my stuff in the attic deciding what to take and what not to take...quite tough, as because my parents are separating what I leave behind may not be kept :( it was a good trip down memory lane though and I'm quite a sentimental soul so I'm keeping all my hundreds of photos - even if they make up most of the weight!! My 'my first haircut' certificate with a lock of my hair from Feb 85 was a particular highlight...

Oh and thought you'd like to see a pic of the dress I've bought for me and Jason's blessing here in the UK on August 21st...it's SO girly it practically needs a health warning :D

Hope you're all good lovelies!!

Well as one of the few Brits still in the UK ;) I am delighted to report it's absolutely glorious here - and I'm off to Glastonbury tomorrow where the forecast is 26 and sunny over the weekend, huzzah!! :D

Depends on the dry vs. humid heat, I reckon. In Miami, 85 F is "walking through soup, wishing for death after one block" whereas in the southwest, 85 F is "wow, what a lovely day!"
Heat index, as they call it...

Yeah I'm basing mine on Orlando in August - damn....

Hong Kong's pretty interesting too. I went to see my cousin there last June - cooler than Orlando but 10 million % humidity - I went for a run for half an hour and came back looking like I'd actually gone for a swim in the harbour...nice

There's something I'm kinda getting used too, when they say hello here, they are like "Hey, how you doin?" "Fine thank you", and chat about the weather and stuff , like, everywhere, to everyone, even if you don't know them (like restaurants, shops). We don't have that in France >.<, they barely say hello over there lol. I'm still shy, but I'm getting used to that, barely :bonk:

Hehehe...totally agree...the last time I was in Paris I spoke to the barman in English (cos I was being lazy) then French, then he called me "vache" (a cow) for having the nerve to try to make his life easier by speaking to him in his own language. So Naddy, I hear ya ;) (as a disclaimer I would also like to say I know and love some very nice French people, you just don't meet that many in the server industry ;))

Oh, you must be so excited!!! Congratulations!

The funniest thing is when people here don't know you are a foreigner and ask you the simplest questions, and you have no idea :) I walked into a bridal shop and couldn't tell them my dress and shoe size :) Am slowly learning to convert kg-s into lbs, cm-s into inches... but I still don't know my shop sizes... they seem to change every time I try something on.

LOL I know that feeling...all I know is that to convert UK sizes to US you subtract 4...so a UK 10 is a US 6 and so on...and my understanding of farenheit goes like this:

Temp in deg F: Description
0 : Basically dead unless you're a husky
10: Practically dead
20: 10 layers and a convection heater
30: Baltic
40: Chilly
50: Jeans and jumper
60: Jeans and t-shirt
70: British summer
80: Hot
90: Roasting
100: Jump in a vat of ice cubes

It's crude but effective ;)
