IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresnewbie NA1 question
Thanks so much you guys... this is a huge help to be able to ask questions. Well... I called USCIS and they assured me that the date they would be working off of would be the actual "date received" of October '07 even though my NOA1 date is Jan. '08.

QUOTE
they have repeatedly told my congressman that no formal action can be recognized until 6 months past the NOA1 date

This makes a lot of sense and they are definitely buying themselves some time with this "technicality"

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresnewbie NA1 question
Hello,
I have been a member for a while but have not posted.
I'm getting more active in the community now.
My question is... I sent my application on 10/15/07. My NA1 has a received date of 10/17/07 and a notice date of 01/11/08. When I check my case online it states that my application was received on 01/11/08.
Which date am I looking at to check the Processing Times on the USCIS website. It better not be January because they are on July still. Anyone had this problem?
Thanks,
Devin

Middle East and North AfricaOne of the most amazing quotes I have ever read
QUOTE (Ganja_Girl @ Apr 30 2008, 06:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.

That quote reminds me of the end of this quote from "The Boondock Saints"

QUOTE
Monsignor
And I am reminded, on this holy day, of the sad story of Kitty Genovese. As you all may remember, a long time ago, almost thirty years ago, this poor soul cried out for help time and time again, but no person answered her calls. Though many saw, no one so much as called the police. They all just watched as Kitty was being stabbed to death in broad daylight. They watched as her assailant walked away. Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

This is interesting statement in that I would expect there to be more women using men to get green cards. A quick google search got a net of over 2 million hits for mail order brides. Just a thought.

I've been working mostly Oct26 It's where I've seen the most activity.

This is from today :D EAC1001750624 rfe January 29, 2010

I've added a little 'pet' case number into my portfolio from October 27th. When I see some movement on that I'll feel happy. It's weird I feel like I've adopted the case of some people I don't know...I'm weird.

I work a full time job, have two daughters I take care of by myself, and am a student with 14 hours this semester, but I cant concentrate with so many questions. I would never imply that any one is less involved, least of all you, I see your posts all the time. I just don't like it when someone tells me to stop worrying, be patient, and what I'm doing is meaningless and a waste of time(even if it is). I'm going to worry, be paranoid, be angry, and frustrated until we get approved, rfe, or rejected (I hope not the later). If things were flowing normally as before the holidays, the timelines weren't so messed up, or there was a real answer from the uscis, I probably wouldn't be posting or doing any of this nonsense. So if you like the stuff I'm posting good, if not I'm sorry I'll try to keep them brief.

My apologies. I think I took this the wrong way...guess the wait is making me cranky :)

I do find what you post interesting and would never suggest you stop. And besides, it gives me something to read on my lunch break ;)

So what's the latest news today?

Thanks Naddy. I've been pasting my stuff in notepad but I can add to a spread sheet. I like your enthusiasm, you are like me want answers, not the same old be patient... stay positive... blah blah blah.

I work full time and therefore do not have time to go through thousands of case numbers that will not actually make MY case get processed faster but will just make me despair at how many people are ahead of me in the line.

Kudos to you for doing it and I find it genuinely interesting, but don't imply that the people who are just 'staying positive' are somehow less invested in this process than you.

I don't know how many of you listened to the State of the Union address last night, but there was this tiny little sound-byte near the end that caught my attention: "And we should continue the work of fixing our broken immigration system..."
I'm pretty sure he wasn't talking about us, but it's a little encouraging, at least. Even in the midst of everything else, immigration gets a little nod. I say we start fixing it by cranking out some NOA2s.

Amen to that!!

one of the most plausible theories ive heard.

It's perfectly feasible, unfortunately. After all we know that temps were hired and a big push made on I-129Fs to clear that backlog, so it stands to reason that while they were doing that something else e.g. CRI89s were piling up.

Guess it's a case of trying to keep 1 million plates spinning when you're only 500 people or whatever....I'd almost be sympathetic, if the rest of my life wasn't hanging on the decision of some temp who will look at my lovingly put-together file that's stuffed in a box!!

But they ARE processing...albeit slower. From the looks of things CSC are going at about the same speed right now (and they have had similar problems with November filers being processed ahead of a lot of October people).

I am still hopeful, because that's all I've got...

Yeah, that little bit of late October action is certainly encouraging, isn't it? And being from the UK, it sounds like you should have a pretty easy interview. Once you've got that NOA2, there's no stopping you, lady!

anyway - some october movement yesterday, here's hoping :)

Question, regarding igor's list...

People with NOA1 date's AFTER ours (i.e. Miss jess!) are ahead of us, how does that work?

*shakes fist at jess!!!!!*

lol...I'm a bit confused by that list though. It scrapes the info from vj so why is it not the same?

If you look at the trends, in Nov 2009 they had their fewest I-129F completions in a month since Dec 2008. Half as much as they had in the previous 3 months.
If you look at the national trend for all documents, they had their fewest completions since Nov 2008. It's like half the workforce disappears in Nov. Slowly recovers in Dec, and then begins to fully recover in January.

you know I'm starting to think there's such a thing as too much information!!! If I was just leaving it in the hands of the gods I think I'd feel less worried...

And, if you don't mind my asking, where did you find it?

This is a chart but if you hover your mouse over the mark point it will tell you the numbers.

Also, for info - I had a rummage around on the USCIS website and from what I could tell any Haitian applications will not go through VSC - or CSC for that matter. But please correct me if I'm wrong :)

Oooh and I've found some figures for you all...

VSC I-129F PROCESSING FIGURES FOR NOV 2009:

Pending: 7,323
Receipts: 1,835
Completions: 2,155

My point being - they are clearly working on them just maybe not on VJ cases?? Here's hoping....
Miss JessFemaleUnited Kingdom2010-01-22 05:27:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNovember 2009 filers

However; I now believe the reason for the slow down in processing to be either two causes. 1. The USCIS is swamped with adoption cases for Haitian orphans. See this. or 2. The greedy over extended aholes are waiting for the rate increase for visas to be approved. See this.

Thinking about the Haiti situation - this could definitely be having an impact (and I think this even more after seeing an article about this very subject on BBC1 this morning). But- surely this would also impact CSC? Or have I missed something?

I feel bad because the Haiti situation is devastating but it's obviously very bad news for us...so I feel very guilty for having such selfish thoughts when people are suffering.

There are 2 things we have to remember, folks (and I say these things as a massively neurotic control freak, so believe me it pains me ;)):

1. There is absolutely nothing we can do about this right now. That sucks, but until we hit the 5 month mark USCIS aren't interested.
2. Visa Journey is not gospel!! I do refer to it as the Bible quite frequently ;) - but those timelines are not a true indicator of absolutely everything that is going on....good OR bad. If we pin all our hopes on that timeline or our estimated approval date we will ALL go totally mad.

I know that's easier said than done - and believe me when I was speaking to my boy the other day I was kicking off big style and pretty upset - but I learned this on a smaller scale 2 weeks ago when I was trapped in Gatwick airport for 3 days unable to get a flight to Orlando. I lost precious time with my boy and the killer thing was that there was absolutely nothing I could do to change that situation. You just have to deal with it.

Do we want to start telling some jokes to lighten things up a bit?! I'm sick of being depressed!!

Thinking of you all :)

I think sometimes people in the military or with other unique or special circumstances can get expedited processing of their petition. So, it's possible that this is the case with that person. But I'd imagine it's just as possible that they're joking.

If you read the interview with the VSC guy in the main forum he does mention that petitions get approved not strictly in date order so it could be that they just got very, very lucky (and had the most straightforward petition ever).

I know it sucks, but any movement is movement so I'm taking that as a good sign...

This is correct.. If they cashed your check and sent you an NOA-1 you are not paying more...

I wouldn't be so sure.

The price increase is to the MRV (Machine Readable Visa) fee i.e. the fee for actually creating your visa in your passport. This is what you pay when you send in Packet 3.

The way I understand it, if we haven't sent in P3 before the hike, we'll be paying it. Gutted.
