K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow deal with parents who talk guilt?
She needs to stand up to them NOW. You're having issues with their treatment of her already, and you aren't witnessing it first hand. My family has a bully as well(that's what your future father-in-law is), and my SO was shocked at his behavior on his last visit. It will be harder when you're actually physically there watching it happen, and believe you me, it will cause major tension between the 2 of you. Better for her to stand up now than wait for your arrival..if she waits it'll be 'Your just doing this because of HIM.' Voila, you are the bad guy, a crown you may be willing to wear for her benefit, but which could cause issues in the long run.

Sorry to hear about your other half's parents...Indeed it would be appropiate for her to discuss these concerns with her patents firmly. The sooner the better...actually as advice she should make an effort to talk to them before the 2 of you actually get married...because if she waits until later....after you get married...because they will say that is the reason...due to the fact they would like to overlook the real issue at hand...

Take care and remain blessed...It will all work out...

OH AND THINGEE....I NOTICE YOUR QUICK APPROVAL SO FAR ON YOUR TIME LINE...

What is it that you need them to check? If you have already been approved and you want to know if your file is at the NVC, send them an email, and give it 2-6 weeks to get there and processed.

Ashp's NOA2 is from 11/29, no sign of it at the NVC, and if I counted right it's coming up on 6 weeks. :(

I had to call this morning...in a nutshell you have to click on the option that states it's been more than 60 days since application has been submitted...and it will que you in to speak to a live rep...and then once the rep comes on the line then explain what you are really calling for...I had to do that...

Take care and many blessings...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhile you're waiting for NOA2: Talk to your boss!

I checked, and Roissy is where the DHL warehouse is. So they are delivered there, then they ship out to the Embassy.

I didn't notice that about calling the embassy for a fee. That sucks. If I don't hear anything by mid-week next week, maybe I'll call. Because I'm an impatient girl.

Aaaah, ok, so good news then. :) I checked from December 26th til yesterday and there's only been 2 France deliveries, I would think they've gotta be us. Wouldn't that be funny, the only two France deliveries in this time frame and we meet ONLINE? I also think it's funny that NVC told us both the 28th, and DHL is saying 27th and 29th.

If you do call the embassy, can you ask if the packet 3 forms can be sent to the embassy before the Frenchie fiance recieves packet 3 in the mail?

Yes, I'll ask. I also want to know if he can pick up packet 3 directly, since he literally works next door. THAT would be sweet.

Also regarding the person (Nkybaby?) who sent the letter from employer with I-129F, you didn't need to do that. You will need a new one since a significant enough amount of time will have passed between your original petition and the interview (which is when they actually want to see it. But, I'm sure it won't be a problem for you to get another one!!

From Nkybaby= If your name is Nkiruka as mine than in Nigeria your friends may nickname you Nkybaby or Nkii for short....
I was aware that I didn't have to send it, but I sent it along...since it is already in my file...I won't have to send it again...I just submit my 3 years tax papers...& I plan on going with another one in person...

And because of the time frame...and so much going on with our country & terrorist, amongst, many other things...I sent the letter...because I had a name change from one of my parents to the other...I had to show proof and since I've worked at my job for 6 years they knew the process of changing my name...Trust me when I went 2 years ago to apply for my passport...I had so much drama over a name change...and to tell people that you are not married or haven't it's like they think you are lying...I had to pull all my records down to my library, BJ card, etc...

So as far as the letter...I just added it in...

I believe you can apply to get the UK police report online.

This is the one I bookmarked for my fiance. http://www.met.polic...ion/forms.htm#b

Since you have your NOA2, I'd go ahead and apply for it now - I've heard it takes all of 40 days to receive it and its valid for a year.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy UK Interview Experience

wow that wasn't so bad.
all i need to do now is wait for my visa to be delivered.
am so happy

from what i've read everyone's experience is different.
i have been waiting for a while, till it was my turn to give advice.
so here's my version.

08:25
outside US Embassy. a lady checked my name on her list. security guard checked my appointment letter & passport. then a short walk to the security check tent, to x-ray my bag. another walk around the US Embassy in order to enter the building. there were plenty of signs saying "VISA". receptionist asks what i was there for. then went up the stairs on the left. entered another set of doors. boy were those doors hard to open.

08:31
got my ticket from a gentleman checking my appointment letter. i got ticket #1. sat down & waited till my number was called.

08:45
got called to window 1. nice chinese lady greeted me, who was a bit disorientated, cos i think i was the first immigrant visa applicant. she asked for my passport, 2 photos, birth certificate (+copy), police certificate (+copy), affidavit of support from my fiance & letter from my fiance's employer. was told to pay $100 @ window 12(cashier) for the processing fee & then come back to her. got to chat about what i did for a living & where i was from. my fingerprints were taken. finally she gave me a pink form to fill in for the courier, stating where my visa will be delivered. kept this form until the end. stage 1 done.

09:10
took my seat & waited for my number to be called again. your number also appears on the tv screens in the room.

10:05
yippee! final stage of interview went to window 16. young american lady greeted me. she was looking at the original photos sent with application & asked about them. she told me to hold up my right hand & swear that all i tell her was correct.
below are the questions she asked:
where did you meet?
do you visit the states often?
does your fiance visit the uk?
how often has he come to the uk?
when was the last time you saw each other?
how did you meet?
when was the first time you met?
is there a big age difference between you?
how old are you?
how old is he?
where was he born?
have you met his parents?
has he met your parents?
i think that was it. then she said all was ok & fine. that i need to give my pink form to the courier people. i got back my birth certificate & police certificate originals.

10:20
paid £13.50 to SMS to deliver my visa & documents.

10:29
was out of the building.

that was it. hope this has helped those of you who are going to have your interviews. just like others have helped me.
USA here i come.

:joy:

THANKS FOR SHARING...HOW SOON AFTER NOA2 WERE YOU SCHEDULED FOR INTERVIEW?...ALSO WHERE DO YOU GO IN UK TO GET POLICE REPORT?...

I WILL BE GOING TO VISIT FIANCE NEXT WEEK & I WAS WONDERING IF WE SHOULD GO & GET THE POLICE REPORT THEN JUST TO HAVE IT ON HAND...ONE LESS THING TO TAKE CARE OF...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is a NOA!?

I'm a newbie and although i have been learning a lot here, I'm confused by peoples' signatures: What's a NOA and what do you mean when you say you've been "touched"? Thanks!

Briefly...
NOA - Notice of Action (you will recieve one when you first turn in your application...it will give you a receipt number to use to track your case....then later they will send you NOA2 letting you know the status of your case to move on to the next step....)

Touched- after filing K1-visa you can track it online...at USCIS website...and everytime they update your file...it's called touched

FWAGUY you type fast...I see you beat me too it...LOL!!!

I'm a newbie and although i have been learning a lot here, I'm confused by peoples' signatures: What's a NOA and what do you mean when you say you've been "touched"? Thanks!

NOA = Notice of Action

NOA1 is the notice you get acknowledging receipt of your case
NOA2 is the notice you get when case is approved...

Try reading the FAQ's or doing a search for other answers to your questions....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFIANCE DOESN'T HAVE PASSPORT BACK!!!!

I can't see the UK taking 8 months to issue a passport. Something is seriously wrong with that.

Yes, he was trying to get his UK citizenship and the took his Nigerian passport and I told him that it shouldn't take that long and I don't know what his lawyer is doing...See here in the US they just make you make a photo copy of your passport when they take it and you are applying for a passport/citizenship from another country...

But he handed over the passport to them with his paper work and now he is still waiting for it back...This is just totally crazy, but where there is a will there is a way...

However, you know years ago when filing for K1 Visa they use to take the US Citizen passport and keep it until the application was completed...
NkybabyFemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-11 14:50:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFIANCE DOESN'T HAVE PASSPORT BACK!!!!

I agree that it'd be better if it arrives in the next little while, but things aren't going to move at a lightning pace once you reach London - still a bit of waiting to do. So I'd say you have some time to spare now before you really sweat it.

You're right...I just think it is weird that they have had it for 8 months now...!!!!!! YIKES...
NkybabyFemaleUnited Kingdom2007-01-11 13:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFIANCE DOESN'T HAVE PASSPORT BACK!!!!

Nkybaby

Fiance better hurry! You're at the VSC and things tend to move quickly there. After the beneficiary receives the package from the Consulate, one of the required items you have to include are copies of the first 2-4 pages of the passport. So, the passport will be available by the time the Interview occurs!

YEAH...I know...and I was so happy that I received the NOA2 today in my email...and then sweetheart reminds me that he sent in for UK passport...because he has been living in UK using his Nigerian Passport...Anyway...His Nigerian Passport got sent in with his UK passport application...since May and they haven't given it back to him yet...

I mean I hate the fact that when you go for one passport...they take the other...what if an emergency comes up or a death in the family...you can't travel anywhere because you don't have your passport...That's just not fair....Further more to have his passport for so long...it's crazy....

And it didn't expect to get the approval of NOA2 this fast, so it's only a matter of time between NVC & the Consulate Office for interview time, which depending on stuff, might end up being in March...who knows...

But yes I agree the UK passport has to be expediated...or they have to return his Nigerian Passport soon...

Oh I wonder if he can just replace his Nigerian passport at the Nigerian Embassy in UK...

That is also another road to consider...

Well I am going to UK next week so I will look into all these things...

Thanks you all are the greatest....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow long we have to wait for NOA2
YEAH...Everyone just continue to pray and hope for the best...we all still have many hurdles...ahead...

HERE's my timeline...Everyone varies...I've seen some VJ's who got their approval of both NOA1 & NOA2 all in a matter of 2 weeks filing...and then you have some that are 1 month or 2 or 3 or 4 and so forth months...Some people get TOUCHED and some don't during the wait...I know I started freaking out because I never once got touched...until my NOA2 was approved...and also the TOUCH from Dec was online because I registered my account online...

It will happen soon....As one wheel spins you look at what the other wheel will do because know I'm like send the stuff to NVC & pass it on to the Consulate and let's spin the last wheel to the interview...

But we all have to be patient...

Take care and many blessings...

Nkybaby,

You filed in Vermont which is why it was quicker. Unfortunately the OP is at CSC. If in your opinion soon is 75 days or so from now, then it will happen soon for the OP. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused about where to send the I-129
Does someone live at the US address you will be using if you use California office...because no matter what you need to make sure you are sending it to an address where someone can receive your mail...and since you haven't moved to Michigan or know anyone there to receive you mail...you best bet is to use an address where you can receive mail...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMAIL RECEIVED FROM NVC & USCIS..Bhah...bhah...
Okay I just had to change my timeline again...It seems that you can receive on thing in the mail...and when you call to speak to a live person you get another things...

Okay my NOA2 was approved via email on 1/10/07 and I got in in the mail on 1/16/07...Then on 1/22/07 I got a letter from NVC dated 1/18/07 that they received the approval I-129F petition...and that in 1 week it would be forwarded to the embassy in London...

Okay...

So I called today the NVC gave them my case # and found out that NVC had actually mailed my file out on 1/12/07 and it arrived in London (US Embassy) on 1/17/07....

I mean everything is cool and seems to be running smoothly...so far...but it's funny how they can mail you letters when the information is not written in updated format...but if we send in any incorrect paperwork they are ready to give you a RFE or find some reason to reject you or investigate you...

Isn't life grand...!!!

But it's cool to think that London got the file the day I landed in London to visit...my honey...

Also isn't it funny...this time around the immigration officer at the airport...wanted to give me a hard time about me have frequent trips back and forth to UK...1st time I stayed 8 days...second time 4 days and this time 5 days...They wanted to know what kind of work I did that allows me time off and blah, blah, and why I like visiting family/friends so much...

I was felt like geez lady it's 7am in the morning....I just want to get some sleep...

But all in all it was cool...and the trip was awesome...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsor
Two things, I would read up on I-864 very thoroughly and read the poverty guidelines that is stated for your household along with what the joint sponsor income would have to be as well because I think with a joint sponsor he may be included as the household number as well. Email the embassy again to ensure you get an answer that matches. For me I first emailed them to see if they received my fiance's packet they said yes. The second time I emailed them about his packet 3 and they said as soon as they receive his packet from NVC them will send out his packet 3, but I could email them the ds-230 and as soon as they receive his packet them will send him his information. I emailed them again and asked was or was not his case there along with an emailed copy of the DS-230. They said they have his packet and that his interview will be scheduled sometime late july or early august. Emailed them a week later and come to find out his interview was scheduled for the early part of july. Email them again to see and explain the details of all you correspondance with them to get an straight answer from them. They are very inconsistent with their replies. If you can visit the embassy website as well and read up on the I-864 to clarify things for you.
