Ghana interview- should petitioner attend?

It will help a lot to be there because sometimes u may never know...there may be things that might crop up during the interview which u can readily clarify. I would also urge u to ask your ex to give u any paper work u deem necessary. Its better to be fully prepared than to later say HAVE I KNOWN.

Getting documents back after approval

After interview do my husband suppose to get all front loaded documents back the same day after they interview him because we really need our marriage certificate? If they dont get it back how can we obtain it?

original docs are returned to apllicants same day. thats no problem at all

Only one parent on Birth Certificate

Hello All

While waiting for our I130 to be processed we decided to get working to accumulate our information for the NVC stage. One issue we knew about before but now need to address at this time is that my wife's birth certificate (beneficiary) only shows her mother. Her mother was unmarried at the time of pregnancy and her father was not there for the birth or subsequently thereafter. My wife has been able to obtain official copies without problems but per the government records no father is listed.

My wife is Dominican and this case will be processed through Santo Domingo.

The instructions for document submission at the NVC clearly indicate a birth certificate must show both parents. We spoke to a reputable attorney who has told us that this will not be an issue but I'm not sure he is correct. I'm wondering if we need to submit other supporting documents similar to what is required if a birth certificate cannot be produced (affidavit of family members, etc.) We are trying to prevent a delay in the process by including everything correct up front and not wait for an RFE or checklist.

Has anyone had experience with this? Ideas?

Your Attorney is very right. Its a common thing here in the US having so many people with birth certs but without the father's info. The US Consulate where you would have your interview will understand.
In all the paper work we have done so far up to my present journey, my wife's (USC) father info is not included and of course not on her birth cert too as well. Nothing to worry your head over.

Like most VJ members have said, you will be in a better position to know what answers to give since this is your marriage and you know why you got married. My wife is 15 years older than me but we went through.
"How did you meet", " What does your family think of her" were the only questions asked in connection with her.
To be honest, yours is a big red flag. You being in the 20s is the issue. If you were to be in your mid 30s and the gap is still 30yrs, that wouldn't worry much but never say never. Your might go through and have your approval.

NB
Please be careful of such questions on VJ cos it raises suspicion. I asked the CO who interviewed me whether she knows of Visajourney, and she responded saying they read it all the time.

Medical and tax script

If you are going via K1, then Ghana Embassy doesn't require tax transcript. I advise you do medicals at Akai Clinic which is about 2mins walk from the embassy. The cost wouldn't be more than GHc 1,000.

Does my fiancee need to send me the originals of her birth cert and divorce decree for my interview or photocopies will just do? What of her tax returns, tax transcripts, W2s, bank statements etc???

Age gap - Education level difference K1

My finacee is who is the petitioner is 15 years old than i am but we have never been bothered about it. So far as you are for real and have gone intentions, you should be good.
