K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures226 days ...

May I ask, by "contacting" did you mean phone, email, fax, or in person ? I was leaning towards email as then we can include the "release" permission form, along with a written request and NOA1 doc. Thanks for the good wishes - we can use all the happy thoughts !

Well, I went to each of their web pages to complete the form that they requested and added some supplementary information/summary of our information to ensure that the major case details were consistantly expressed. I then faxed each representative and followed up within a few days. I did receive letters from 2 of the 3.

I hope they had a hand in helping to get my NOA2 faster... If not, it didn't hurt my case at USCIS at all!

MrsJ

PS - I would be happy to email you the case details sheet I used.

Although I am processing a CR-1 I had a similar experience while processing my own paperwork. I contacted both sentators and our congressman to have them assist with our NOA2 by inquiring with USCIS.

I guess it helped as we had an approval within 14 days of contacting our representatives!!

Good luck to you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of Ties When an Unemployed, Disabled Renter

My buddy comes down without issues ever, I have been with him even and they never ask much, but he does drive across not flying.

There is a HUGE difference between vacation/heading to the us for the weekend and a vacation to see your husband/wife/fiance(e)!!!

I have3 lived less than 40 minutes from a US border my whole live and I have literally made dozens of trips by car, bus, plane, cruise ship and even a train.

The day after my wedding my new husband, stepson and in-laws were all hauled into immigration around 11pm while I was interrogated for close to 3 hours!

I have had a multitude of issues crossing the border even with strong ties to Canada. It's irresponsible to assume that everyone is in the same position as a "buddy".

To JeeplessInSeattle,

I carried evidence of funds (bank statements), a rental lease, return travel documentation, employment documentation (even for EI when I was unemployed) and a complete copy including any formal correspondence from the US agency I was currently dealing (for instance: an NOA1 from USCIS, NVC, etc). Yes, I travel with a binder of backup. It may seem excessive but having this documentation has always been what helped to get the CBP officer to see that I wasn't a risk for illegal immigration.

Also, I recently got my NEXUS card and it has substantially decreased the level of harassment going through immigration! Best $50 I have ever spent!!

One more note... Always be honest and never lie when speaking to an Immigration Officer BUT do not volunteer more information than necessary. Keep it short and sweet!

Good luck & wishing you hassle free travel!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCanadian girlfriend now pregnant but how do we start our family together in the USA?
Have you thought of seeking some sort of pardon for your record or a waiver. I am not sure what is available as a US citizen going to Canada but I do know that lots of people have overstayed in the US and completed additional paperwork for a waiver to counteract.

I did a quick google search and found the following website... It may help start looking into your options:

American Pardons

Note: I have no experience with this company but they seemed to have a lot of information regarding options that may pertain to you! Good luck!!

Just a thought!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F or I-130
The timeframe is approximately the same for both but a CR-1 would allow her to work & travel upon entry and is cheaper than a K-1.

Good luck! Check out the guides... Super helpful!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCan we Choose between Montreal and Vancouver
I lived in Toronto and had my current address listed as a residence in ON. I requested to go to Vancouver as that is where I am from and I wanted to see my family while having my interview.

I had my K-1 interview in Vancouver as requested.

Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I mention I have his card?
Never offer more information than they ask for!! Keep your answers simple and concise and answer only the question that is being asked. Offering up more information may or may not be detrimental but could lead to further questioning.

I have been on my husbands credit card for 4 years and did not mention that when I had my K-1 interview to marry my hubby(visa was approved but wasn't used).

Good luck!

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Medical Exam

Yeah, probably new year, new schedule..who knows?! smile.png

As far as the blood test goes, she told me, back then, in june 2013, that i can eat anything I want and drink coffee if I want, because they only do the blood test to see if you have any transmissible deseases, like syphilis,hepatitis..stuff like that. My pressure was a little low, cause I woke up that day at 5 am and didn't had my coffee and breakfast, but everything was ok. don't worry, they only take a very very small amount of blood

Good luck!

Thank you so much! :)

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Medical Exam

As long as the interview is within 4 months from noa2, you have nothing to worry. It took me a month to send the instructions back to the embassy, and I had no problem in scheduling the date for the interview.

As far as Regina Maria goes, I called 2 weeks before my medical. I had no problem scheduling the date I wanted with Dr. Toma. Try calling back on Monday and see if she has the date that you want available. I know from someone who did the medical the same day as the embassy interview and got the results at 12 pm and the interview was at 1 pm. But that is only possible on a Tuesday, because dr. toma on Tuesdays is at the Baneasa clinic. The rest of the days she is at the other location, at the Opera Center Building, and the results here are usually released at 3 pm. I'm not sure if things are still the same, but do ask when you call her again.

Aloha! smile.png

Hey there! Thanks for the tips. I actually managed to schedule my medical for this Monday, at 9:30. I guess dr Toma must have changed her schedule or something because the girl from the clinic told me to be at the Baneasa clinic on Monday..

That aside, I know they take some blood samples and I just realised now that I forgot to ask the girl I spoke with on the phone if I have to go there without eating anything for those blood samples? What do you think?

Cheers!

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Medical Exam

Does anyone know how long it usually takes until you schedule a medical exam at Regina Maria in Bucharest? Do you have to wait a long time before they can schedule you? I'm asking because I got my package from the embassy at a rather bad moment, one day before Christmas and it's proven very hard to get everything I need together with all the days off and closed offices for Holidays. I called the clinic on the 28 and the girl on the phone just told me that they'll start their schedule as usual on the 6th of January and then she hung up on me..

I'm kind of worried that it might take too long for me to get that appointment.. I also have another question, in the instructions sent by the embassy they say that after I have gathered all the documentation that they listed there, I should send back to the embassy a piece of paper included in the package, signed and dated and that after they receive that, they will schedule me for the interview. Now, I have not sent them back that piece of paper yet because I havent gone for my medical exam yet and also because my fiance has not mailed me the Affidavit of Support yet. He just finished putting it all together today and he's going to mail it via DHL tomorrow.. Hopefully it will get here in maximum a week.

Do you guys think that there's a deadline or something for me to send back to the embassy that piece of paper signed and dated? I already emailed them the confirmation page for my DS-160. They dont mention anything about any deadlines, they just say that I should immediately send them via email the confirmation page for the DS-160 plus a copy of my biographical information page from the passport (which I already sent to them right after I got the package). And as for that piece of paper that they want back signed and dated, they just said that I should send that once I have all the other documentation ready.

I'm kinda starting to freak out a bit that it's taking me too long to sent that thing back to me and that I might have delays with the medical and idk, all sorts of pessimistic thoughts that something might go wrong just now, after we've come so far.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionConsulate requirements for K1 interview in Romania

Hey guys, I was wondering about something. My boyfriend's uncle got me my plane ticket about 2 months ago with a departure date for the 7th of March, on KLM. I was just reading on the KLM site just now that the name on the ticket must be identical to the name on my passport. In my case, the full name as it appears on my passport and ID is Ciurea Rodica-Monica but on my ticket it's just Ciurea Rodica... Am I going to have a problem because of this? When he filled out the API (Advance Passenger Information), he did put in my full name, as on passport.

What do you think? He used his Flying Blue miles to get me the ticket (basically for free lol) and I understand that no changes are allowed.. Might the airline (KLM) not want to issue my boarding pass because my other first name doesnt appear on the ticket as it does in my passport?!

Congratulations on your visa approvaldancin5hr.gif

As far as I know, you won't need your police record here. They kept the police record and it will go on the sealed envelope that you have to give at the first airport in the USA. So, USCIS will have it from there on.

In order for you to enter the USA you'll need the visa in the passport and the sealed envelope. The envelope you'll receive it when you go pick up your passport with the visa. The envelope will have one corner cut, so no need to worry about that.

Usually, it takes 2 business days to get your passport from TNT from the time of your interview. That's how it was for me. If the CO told you 4 days, then they must have changed it...but you can call your TNT local office to see if they have it earlier. Here's the link of the TNT locations: http://www.tnt.com/e...nt_romania.html

Good luck and congrats once again smile.png

Thanks Cazzers! Everything is much clearer now :) and yes, earlier today I received a text message from TNT announcing me that my passport is ready and that I can already go pick it up from their office. Yay! (this is indeed, just 2 days from when I had my interview)

Thank you very much and good luck to you, as well! ;)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionConsulate requirements for K1 interview in Romania

I just had my interview yesterday and it all went smoothly. The consular officer didnt take more than I'd say about a minute before dropping the good news on me "Congratulations, you just got the visa, have a happy life" wooooot. He just asked me where my fiance works, for how long we've known each other and then he made me swear that everything I say and that all the documents I have reflect the truth to the best of my knowledge and that was that.

Oh, they did give me my birth certificate back and all the proof of relationship (email conversations, photos, plane tickets etc), and my X-ray but they didnt give me back my police record.

So, I have a question : will I need to get another police record to have it with me when I enter the USA? ( I only made one copy of the previous police record and I gave it to them as well along with the original)

Also, what else do I need to have with me when I enter the USA? Because I dont have any other documents left, except the documents with the proof of relationship, birth certificate, X-ray and vaccination records?! Are they going to ask for something else? I was reading somewhere else something about a sealed envelope that I have to handle to the Immigration officers when I enter the USa? What sealed envelope, I dont have any?

Also, how long does it usually take before I can go pick up my passport with visa from TNT? The consular officer told me at the end of the interview that I can go pick it up in about 4 days (4 days would be Friday). Could it possibly take any longer than that? The reason I'm asking is because I'm not from Bucharest and am kinda pressed to return home as soon as possible because of some business

Thanks

oh and you'll have to have all the supporting docs for I-134 (letter from employer stating the salary etc, copy of the last 2-3 tax returns, bank statements and so on)...but you'll only need to bring them with you at the interview.

P.S: police clearance is indeed "cazier"

I have a question about the Affidavit of Support and supporting documentation (letters from employers, tax returns etc). Does my American have to send me all this by mail so that I have the originals with me on the interview date or is it ok if he just scans everything and emails it to me and I print it out?

Please advise and Merry Christmas everyone!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Fees for Bucharest Romania

Hello everybody!

I have a quick question. I'm waiting for the Consulate in Bucharest to receive my paperwork and contact me to schedule the interview within the next few weeks, most likely.

I heard that they'll send me a package with instructions about what documents I need to send back to me or have with me on the interview day. I understand that among the documents, I'll need both copies and originals of my birth certificate, passport etc. Now, my question is this: When they say they want copies, do they mean legalized copies or just regular copies?

Also, for the birth certificate, in some places I read that I need to have a translation of it in English but on the Embassy site it said something like "documents need to be translated ONLY IF they're not either in English or in the official language of the country in which the Embassy that processes the documents is situated" (aka Romania-Romanian language)

Any advice on this? I want to start gathering up everything I need so that by the time they contact me I have everything ready, pretty much

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support documentation at interview (split topic)

Thank you, Zedayn!

What about tax returns? In the package sent from the embassy they say that I should include legalised copies of tax returns (2012) together with the Affidavit. But then when I downloaded the I-134 form from the USCIS site, in the instructions section, they didnt mention anything about tax returns. Plus, the problem here is that both my fiance and his sister were still students in 2012 and didnt work so no income back then.. What should we do?

Thank you,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support documentation at interview (split topic)

Thank you for the replies, everybody!

One other question: If my sponsor for the Affidavit of Support is going to be my fiance's sister (her income is MUCH better than his, over 100k a year), but she is married, does her husband also have to sign the Affidavit?! Furthermore, does my fiance also have to file a separate Affidavit so that I can have both for the interview? Do you guys think that'd be necessary?!

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support documentation at interview (split topic)

Hi, I also have a question about the Affidavit of Support and the documentation (bank letters, employment letters etc) that should accompany it. I am Romanian and I am getting ready for my K1 interview in a few weeks from now. My fiance (American citizen) will have his sister sponsor me because her income is MUCH bigger than his. My question is this: How will the signed Afiidavit and accompanying documentation get to the Consulate in Bucharest? Is it ok if they scan everything and send it to me via email and then I ;print it out and take it with me to the interview or do they have to mail me everything so that I have the originals??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresReady to file the papers? Last check.

Hey everybody!

I m sorry if I might be posting this in the wrong place but I really need some help/clarification. I am currently in the USa(arrived here 2 months ago on a K1 alien fiance visa). Me and my american fiance got married already on the 26th of March, shortly after my arrival, we have the marriage certificate and all and now we are trying to get everything ready to file for Adjustment of Status.

I pretty much understood what we neeed to file, with the exception of one form, I-130. In some places, I see that they require that too while in other places (including VisaJourney), there's no mention of that..

Can someone please clarify this aspect for me and perhaps list all the documents you guys filed when applying for Adjustment of Status after coming to the US on a K1 visa?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
