For those of you still assembling your documents for package 3, pay attention to the wording on the instructions. We just got back our English translations today, and I noticed the birth certificate didn't include both of her parents' names, birthdates and places of birth, as the instructions require. I didn't pay that much attention to the wording, and when we got the original in Chinese, I couldn't read it anyway to see what it said. Apparently birth certificates in China are much different from those in the US. So now we have to go get another one (and pay for it), and then get it translated again (quite expensive). sad.gif

I personally think there is nothing wrong in submitting or not submitting more evidences. chances are that if you will not get RFE, you will get approved. The only person who can help you good is by Infopass. You didnt mention which evidences you have submitted and what extra paper work you are planning to submit.?? if you provide some info about that, May be someone here will be able to better guide you.

I recieve a letter today, saying that our check was sent back to the bank, because there was insufficient money in my husband account. I gave my husband the money to deposit it into his checking account, so that his name will be on the check. best thing get a certified check from Bank (i think thats right name). All you need is take this money to bank and they will issue you a check for required ammount to department of Homeland security, and then you can mail it to them. THats how i will do it but its just me....

They can and they will stamp the passport, it has not expired. When you do get new passport, you keep new and old one together, and when you re-enter the USA, you present both, the valid one for ID, and the expired one for the I-551 stamp.


Even if/when they do stamp a passport that is about to expire, the stamp would only be good until the expiration date of the passport. Plus you have no idea if the country that issues the passport will require that the old one be given up.

The best bet in this situation would have been the I-94 with the stamp.


My country gives you back your passport. You get to keep the expired one as well as the new one so I will be able to show them both passports when i come back in.


I have a friend from Kenya. He had same problem, he went home and applied for new Passport, it took him one month, to get new passport. he had to change his flight and extend his stay over there. Which i know you can get a new passport from embassy in less than one month...But Its your call and you know your country more than Me...

If i were you, I will apply for new Passport over here, as chances are that you will get it faster....and you will not have any problem in leaving the country and comming back....

I had same problem. on Thursday 28th Feb 2008, I went to SS OFfice with expired green card and NOA (extension Letter) to get new card that dont have that writing on it. Yesterday, after exactly 7 days, i got my New Social Security Card. so dont worry. Take your paper and apply for replacement card. Good Luck

One reason people dont update their timeline and the other they depend on online timeline. If i am in this time line, I will make an info Pass appointment and talk to someone in Person. Because 1-800 # is not USCIS people rather customer service, outsourced by USCIS. They dont know more than what you can find on computer.
So Peter T, my sincere advice, make an info pass apointment and go talk to them. There is nothing to loose but lot to gain. Trust me

Please dont be mad that my case got approved and some ones else is not...James you been doing great so far...But i have to say that i agree with Kez...
we don,t need to argue here that who is right or who is wrong....All we can do is share our experience so that it can help someone. This forum and you all really helped me alot by sharing your experience. So I just want everybody to please continue sharing your data and dont be mad at any...Just hope that every body will get approved within timely fashion. After all its USCIS and its not in our control....

I did same. Never applied for new Card but last week i got a very good job offer and my green card is expired. I went to SS Office and showed them my expired GC, SS Card and Extension Letter, and they didn,t have any problem with it. After reading the extension letter, she asked me that where it says about Extension (lol), So i pointed that line and after that everything fine. It was last thursday, so havent got card yet.

Why cant your copy the whole letter here, and get us out of this confusion. As to me its not making any sense...But instead of giving bits and pieces of information, i will request please type the whole letter as it is and that will be very helpful for everybody.
