Hi OBX...

We received a RFE in our AOS package...my husband sent 2008 tax returns, but i guess they are not complete...anyway, he called and spoke with a live operator who told my husband must send his 2008 tax returns, nothing else, not new form neither 2005 tax returns as the checklist letter says....so, we are still waiting to get Case complete....

still waiting....

Just a little bump in the road. Hopefully they will process your file quickly once they get the 2008 return. good.gif
Good luck!

You know the damn system is so variable. For me I did not include any 2008 tax info and my AOS was already reviewed and approved.

Hi OBX,

I wonder if you know this...when i call NVC the AVR says they are waiting for the Petitioner Biographic Information....i dont know what that means...my husband sent AOS and IV bill package the last Thuesday.

Thank you for your help...

Well the Petitioner Biographic Info is your DS-230 (IV) package. If your husband only sent the IV Bill and not the actual DS-230 with your birth cert, marriage cert, police forms, etc. then that is what they are waiting on.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2009 Processing Times - 5 Month I-130 Times?
Is there anyone out there that has figured out how this USCIS VSC vs CSC, and the transferred CSC vs. originally at CSC thing is working? I really have a hard time understanding why people that received NOA1 in October / November that were transferred over from VSC are getting approvals at CSC in January / February. Meanwhile there are people that have been at CSC with NOA1 from July, August, September, October and November that sit waiting for a touch.

It does not affect me (yet) because I am a late November/early December CR-1/K-3 filer) but if I were the others I would be confused and very sad headbonk.gif

I was happy when I was assigned to CSC originally, but now it seems to be a big disadvantage.

Has anyone tried to get an answer on this from CSC?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2009 Processing Times - 5 Month I-130 Times?
Actually I mis-read the USCIS table, it says they are currently processing CR-1/I-130s every 7.3 months. That is "only" a month over the California reported 6 month reported expected time to process. But if everybody from VSC got sent to CSC I guess things are coming to a halt at CSC. Maybe that is why this sites estimator now has my NOA-2 for my late November NOA-1 to be August instead of April. Bummer. I wish summer were here now. EN

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2009 Processing Times - 5 Month I-130 Times?
Thanks for the link to the updated data. Unfortunately, I do not find it as much "happy news" as you migh t. I don't really care about their "Stretch Goals" what I care more about is "Current Performance". That data says they are currently runnig on a 8.4 month average approval timeframe for the NOA-2 on the CR-1/I-130. That is a long time, almost 50% longer than the former average of 6 months. I just filed in late November and it looks like they combined it with my December K-3 so I am probably not going to begin seeing any chance of approval until July or August which is really depressing to imagine. Well I was figuring a year until she arrives here and that is why she signed up for LPN training at the local college. Might as well make the most out of a tough time and get a degree that will pay-off state-side!!!

Good luck to you all. Keep us informed.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinding an acceptable excuse (LIE) so that i can escape work for a month ............. HELP

I have read on other sites where some guys enjoy logging onto sites (anonymously) like this one and getting people "riled up" for fun. Since I don't see any other replies by this original poster in this line, that might be the case. Some people are just bored and don't have anything else to do but get people spun up.

The reply to the question was obviouis, I suggest removing this string from the list.

you have to file all (nearly all) the same paperwork for the child as you did for your wife/fiance. You have to pay the same expenses also. Basically you do the same as K1 but for a K2....good luck. If you did not do this upfront, you may run into delays.

US Citizenship General DiscussionDual Citizenship
Who physically canceled the original PI passport and when? My wife is soon to be in the exact same situation you described below. Just wondering why you had to get the new passport.
Thanks,

EN

Hi,

My wife just received her USC in San Diego 3/20/13, on the same day, right after the ceremony, we drove up to the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles where she re-acquired her Philippine citizenship and also applied for a new PI passport..since the old one (which was still current) was effectively canceled the moment she took the USC Oath.

So, in one day she gained US Citizenship, lost her Philippine citizenship, and 5 hours later re-gained her Philippine citizenship...was a busy day ! Of course we stopped at Gerry's Grill outside LA in Artesia on the way home :)

Check out the Philippine Consulate or Embassy website for Dual Citizenship information. Cost $50 for re-acquiring citizenship.

Good Luck !

Ya that's it "Legal Capcity to Contract Mariage". That is what I went to Cebu for at the Consular Office. Did not have to go all the way back to Manila to the Embassy to get it.

Hello all,

My Fiancee said that they told her at the Hall (municipal bldg) in Bislig, that she would need to get a Cenomar before we apply for the marriage cert.

Is a Cenomar still needed to marry in the Philippines? I thought I read it was no longer a requirement. But I guess we will need it anyway when we apply for the Visa,

Where would she go to apply for a Cenomar (she lives in Bislig)? How long does it take to obtain? I am flying there in two weeks to get married there, I hope we can get it by then.

Thanks much

Steve

Steve, you will also be required to get a Certificate of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage at the US Embassy before you can apply for the marriage certificate at her Local Civil Registry (city hall). There is a 10 working day wait before you can get married as mentioned by Eric.

PhilippinesIs a Cenomar still needed to marry in the Philippines?
Immediately upon hitting the ground in PH I went to Cebu to the US Consular Office there (basement of Waterfront Hotel) to get the certification that I was able to marry (provided Divorce Decree). Then we got the marriage license through the local Municipality. It had to be "posted" for so many days before the marriage (? 10 or 12 days I forget).

Then we BOTH actually got the CENOMAR through the NSO office in Iligan City. Don't know why but they said I needed one too, not just my Pinay wife.

All this was done to complete some prescribed timeline of when we had to have the marriage license so many days before the actual wedding. Then we got married and the Judge provided us with an original of the signed Marriage Certificate/Contract. Then a few months later we got the NSO version of the marriage certification.

That's all I know.

We received a May 11th interview date for the K-3 visa. Since we are nearly complete with the CR-1 visa we will pursue it. We are hoping that the embassy will allow the scheduled interview to be used for the CR-1 rather than the K-3. Is there anyone with recent experience with this?

Good Job Congrats. It is nice that they were willing to do so.

Well I set up my LAYA account last night and just tried using it a few minutes ago. Couldnt keep the connection going to my sister's cell, called my mom on her cell and got disconnected after 3 mins. Maybe it works better with landlines. Thanks for the tip anyway, it will be my emergency calling account.

So what's this Rebtel and how does it work? I would appreciate the info, thanks much!

Anyhow for landline to landline calls there's International OnePrice with Time Warner. Ibelieve it's 1000mins/mo to the Phils for $19.95...sounds good, but no one in my family has a landline anymore wacko.gif

Im using international calling from my service provider also and pays $19.95 a month for 250 mins ( landline or cellphone ) to the Phils. Yet i always exceed into paying double in a month coz i call everyday, lol , ending up paying $50 in a month for 500 minutes, which i think is not bad at all.

I pay $20 per year to call the Philippines with UNLIMITED calling. $20 per YEAR. Check out MagicJack.com

PhilippinesCalling cards, US to Philippines
forget the calling cards. We use teh magic jack. Paid $40 for unlimited calling from Ph to US. Even bought another Magic Jack at Best Buy for me here in the states to use so I don't eat up my cell phone minutes (I don't have a home phone so the magicJack is now my home phone). After the first year is over it costs $20 to renew for the next year. Let's see that is less than $2/month or $0.07 per DAY to call unlimited !!!!!

Check it out at Best Buy or MagicJack.com

My friends ... Let me just paste what I posted back in August anent a thread in fishing started by one of our paisanos, AJAnTess. This is a fishing anecdote with a bit of human interest in it. Here it is:

During my sojourn as a graduate student at New Mexico State in Las Cruces, my friends and I would go to this picnic area at Caballo Lake just outside Truth or Consequences, N.M. We would bring a fishing tackle with us just in case somebody would desire to cast for fun. One late spring day in the high desert, a classmate, his name was Jimmy, while casting by the high chaparral, snagged a 1 pound something. We did not know what the species of the fish was, we were all tyros; maybe it was a bass, or maybe it was a crappie. Anyway, we were all gagas over the fish but Jimmy had to release the catch back into the water.

I mentioned Jimmy above, we became close friends, and after finishing our studies I came back to the Philippines and he went home to Santa Fe. We kept in touch over the years, became sweethearts, and Jimmy had his most prized catch ever in me, never to be released back again! jest.gif jest.gif jest.gif

Don't know if Jimmy would agree that she was his best catch ever. She rubs alot of people wrong here on VJ ! devil.gif

There is a $500,000 bounty for some MILF Leaders on Mindanao these days. Thinking of doing some bow hunting!!
I got my elk in Sept.08 in Wyoming. He was a young 6-pt (that's 12-pt to ya'll). He came in hard to my cow calls. One arrow at 28 yards with my Hoyt Magnatec. That's 4 bulls, 1 cow, 1 calf with my bow, and another bull with the rifle. That covers 4 states (WA, OR, MT, and WY).

PhilippinesInterview Jan 28th - THIS THURSDAY!!

hi eric! im so excited whenever i hear people talk abt VISA interviews, can you two share the questions they asked her? :) the basic ones?

To be honest her interview was very unique, dealing most with a past relationship. Other than that the questions were easy, the usual ones you have seen a 100 times. Finally when he realized my wife was completely sincere in her intentions and that she had all the required documents in order, that is when he really started looking for the smallest of detail to further delay the process. To ask her to go get a new NBI done for an invalid name is just "ridiculous" (subsitute other words between the quotes as you like)! She has the NBI with her wrong name in hand. She will deliver it Monday afternoon and again we will hope for that pink slip with her name on it. So much pain and suffering in waiting and jumping through hoops.

Typical CO / SO interview/ CO: Bring me a rock. No not a red rock, a green rock. No not a small green rock a big green rock. No not a solid, big green rock, bring me one with 3 holes in it. SO: Hey if you wanted a green bowling ball, why didn't you just ask for one in the first place? Here you are sir. Have a nice day.

PhilippinesInterview Jan 28th - THIS THURSDAY!!
My wife did not get the pink slip...yet. She passed the interview but had to go get a document (NBI). Seems an early version of her birth cert had her family named misspelled with an "o" instead of a "u". At some point years ago it has been corrected and all NBI background checks have been done with the correct spelling with the "u". Seems this guy really wanted something to hang on her so he made her go get another NBI background check based on her INCORRECT spelled last name too. [Really a jerk I think!] So she went and go it this afternoon and will deliver it to the embasy Monday afternoon. Then she is done. He spent a long time (20 minutes) interviewing her mostly spending time with questions about her past X and why she turned done his repeated petitions to marry...finally he stopped and accepted her answers and then started looking for some small detail. So now it seems we are still one small step away....

Hopefully, with this document we should still be finished next week.

Moral of the Story: If you have 2 or more spelled versions of your name...get your NBI done in ALL of them!!

PhilippinesHow much time to recieve visa after submitting docs
My wife passed the interview but needs to turn in the NBI "AKA" tomorrow. What is the process after that? Will they say, "Thank you" we will have your passport ready for you tomorrow? How long can we expect to wait now for the visa?? Did anyone have a similar experience?

Thanks,
Eric

PhilippinesShipping Items from Phil. to the USA
Why can't you use LBC or Cargo Plus ...look on internet for contact numbers in PI. I heard Cargo Plus was the best option for sending heavy items...
