I received the schedule for my interview and the white letter together but didn't get any yellow letter prior to that. Is that normal? My interview is 3 weeks from now. Thanks

The reason your wife didn't get hers yet maybe because they're not done with the background check or she wasnt cleared by FBI check or something. Sometimes it takes time for them to submit the background clear check even if she already got cleared. Just hang in there!

Do you mean the Oath letter? Please correct me If I understand it wrong, You mentioned your wife had her interview July 9 and you are still waiitng for the interview letter? If she already had her interview then I dont see why she would wait for an interview letter not unless she needed a 2nd interview.

US Citizenship General DiscussionSeattle N400 experience

Hi All- would like hear about N400 interview experiences from the Seattle office and how long it takes to get the oath ceremony letter after a sucessful interview?

thx.

Hi! I am going to have my N-400 Interview in Seattle next month and it would be very much appreciated if you could share you experience. My friend had hers few months ago and she said that her oath ceremony was the same day of her interview. Did you had yours the same day as well? Any info will be very much appreciated!

I filled that form out however I have no idea what those questions are and I am far too lazy to download the form since I don't need to have it for anything. Maybe you could say what the questions are or hopefully someone has a better memory than myself/has a copy in front of them.

Good luck.

#10 That I have submitted a visa petition to US Citizenship on behalf of the following persons, if non state none

#11 That I intend or do not intend to make specific contribution to the support of the person named in item 3(your fiancee)

I think #10 is asking if you have filed for anyone other than the person you are sponsoring.

#11- I said no because I am not specifically paying for my husbands rent or school... we're just married and sharing everything!

I hope that makes sense, good luck!

What does it say on your passport? Birth Certificate?

I find this sort of thing very interesting so the answer has been bugging me.

A US Passport, other Western passport and even passports from Japan and China has a place for "surname" and then on the line below, a space for "given names" but I see the image of an Indonesian passport (see link below) just has one place for "Name/Full Name".

http://www.comp.nus....es/passport.png

So, if this is correct, I think you have a first and middle name, for the purposes of US Immigration. If you had only one name or a one word name, it would be your "first name".

Hello
Many thanks for the response, I really appreciate that.
I look at my passport and they put my last name as 'surname', so to avoid any problem I will just put my last name in the family name column, if the embassy asks about this I am sure I will be able to explain to them.
What do u think guys?

Before my fiance got US citizenship, he held his green card (LPR), and he went to school in States without no problem (got permanent resident / local fee too), if you check out the tuition fee list in some university it will state the categorisation anyways, whether you are international student (coming under F1 visa), or permanent resident.
Good luck!

i know the answer..first of all after u get the greencard u can apply for Financial aid or TAP whatever. only with a greencard and 2nd u wont get citizenship after THREE YEARS it will take FIVE years after u get ur greencard unless u r married to an AMERICAN CITIZEN..thats the answer and yes its a correct one no one can top it cuz i know it its a fact.

Well I couldn't find the answers I was looking for... so I'm gona ask you guys.

So, my k1 visa is approved and I'm going to get my visa by mail soon.

Anyways, I wanted to go to school when I enter in the States, but I'm concerned that my school fees are going to be expensive (because I am not a citizen...yet)! It takes 1year-ish to become a permanent resident, then it takes another 3 years to become a citizen... Right? Does that mean that during all those years, if I wanted to go to school, I would have to be an international student?
Then I won't be able to apply for a FAFSA (student aid)?

Hope somebody can answer me! Thanks a bunch!

umm she will be able to in 3 years.. she is coming in on a k1 visa which means she is going to get married to a US citizen...

Anyways, once you become a permanent resident you will get local tuition fee (you dont hv to be citizen). I don't think one yr is a long wait. I plan to go to grad school too and I'mwilling to wait, we can just take it easy while waiting, maybe you can go to community college before attending real college just like what I plan to do, just to fill your time. Cheers

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Clearance!!!

My fiance is a Filipina and she's living in S. Korea. She had to get a new NBI from the PI recently. You are required to have one.

Is Your Fiancee Korea Citizen Too? Cuz In Order To Get NBI I Need To Go back To PI, Right? Or Is There Any Way I Can get Police Clearance In The Phils And I Dnt Need To Go Back There?

Most applicants abroad find it more expeditious to have a relative or friend in the Philippines assist them in obtaining their certificates from the NBI. The applicant may also submit a copy of a prior NBI clearance to facilitate the processing of a new clearance.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussioninterview completed but visa uncertain

I went to Seoul for my fiance's visa interview and to spend several days with him. We got all the application stuff together and he went to the interview. He told them I was there and they had him come back for a re-interview with me. I think if I had not been in Korea the CO would have refused the visa on the first interview. She thought because he has four children and is not steadily employed he must only be seeking a green card marriage. After the second interview in which we were insisting that we love each other and intend a real marriage (she asked me why I wanted a Korean man, he was asked why he didn't marry a Korean American woman), at the end she said she would "take what you guys are saying to me at face value" which I guess means she will approve. But she needs more paperwork from him regarding something on his police report. So now he is doing that - means getting another translation too. I am back in the US now and I'm really nervous. I hope he can get the paperwork in there before she changes her mind. Now it's the weekend so nothing can be done for a few days. I was so hoping to have this all settled before coming back here. It is really really hard. I expected him to be questioned about this but not that much.

Cheer Up!!! Dnt Lose Hope....Im Praying For Your Visa getting Thru Soon!!! GoodLuck & God Bless!!!
