K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportswhat can touches after NOA2 mean?
Hello,

I wonder what can touches after NOA2 mean? We're now waiting for our approved I-129F to be sent to the NVC, and got touched on April 8th. Wondering what that means. Anyone?
Responses will be much appreciated!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHow many does the mail service take from CSC to NVC?
Hi all
Been a little nervous lately. We havent gotten case number for our approved case March 19th.
I saw some touch on our uscis account on April 8th, then called NVC today and found out they did not receive our case yet. Any idea how many days does it take to forward mail from CSC to NVC? Cuz I suppose the touch somewhat meant that our case was about to be ready to be sent to the NVC, -and hopefully sent!-
Any response will be appreciated!
Cheers

I wish the CSC was as efficient as the VSC.

I wish the same. Man I called NVC this morning, and still they did not have our case yet sad.gif what about u shawndoc?

I wonder if there will still be update from CRIS after the release of NOA2, such as update that states that CSC has sent the case to NVC, and update that state that NVC has sent the file to the consulate. Could u pls let me know? I am concerned since our approved petition hasnt been sent to the NVC

Ranie and glen, from my experience, we didn't get any update from CRIS after the NOA2, but my fiance got a mail from NVC two weeks after NOA2 and they said that the case has been forwarded to the embassy here and we will hear something from them soon. I remembered my fiance got the mail in Friday and we got the email from US embassy by Monday with my case number. I guess you will hear something from NVC not so long from now.
Good luck

You may see touches after approval, in order to know if the case is at NVC you need to phone them and speak to a person. They will inform you with the latest information.

Hello
Yes my fiance called NVC this morning and they said they didnt have the file yet. Just wondering if CRIS might give us update email about that. What can the touches after approval mean Sal and Jay?

My interview is next month, hopefully everything will go fine, I'm starting to get nervous!
Have you checked your case status on the USCIS website lately? If you have any touch after the approval, it could be of the date when they sent the petition to the NVC.

Keep us posted.

It means your case is still at CSC. I would not consider it a dealy, I think you are still in what is considered a normal time frame from CSC to NVC. Lately, petitions usually take one month or a little over a month to get to the NVC.

But don't worry, once your petition gets to the NVC it will be quickly sent to the Embassy.

Hang in there you'll hear from the NVC soon smile.gif

CSC is absolutely ridiculous lately not only in it's slower than slow approvals of the 129-F petitions, but to now add another month on top in the delay getting them sent out to NVC! Unbelieveable!

It took them 2 1/2 weeks to enter my RFE receipt in...now in a call today the customer rep said it could take another 30- 45 days to make a decision!

Looks to me like if your case was touched on April 8th...that means your case is still in CA.....

When will it end?

The sent your adjustment of status application (I-485) to the embassy, I am not following you here, you posted this to the adjustment of status forum.

Who did you call? USCIS or NVC?

USCIS in many cases assume you are not aware that NVC is were the petition goes THROUGH to go to the consulate, they typically will say that "The Petition has been sent on to the Consulate" they neglect to say "Through NVC". NVC does some administrative review, and assigns a case number and then sends it on to the consulate.

A lot of people have been told this but it is not true.

Your petition goes to NVC, where a new case number is assigned, and then it is forwarded to the appropriate consulate.

CSC does take some time to transfer petitions though.

So where in the world is the petition when the USCIS gives u this answer?
Anyone pls?

US Citizenship General Discussionwhat is the best option?

An old overworked subject, wife still has to maintain her foreign passport if she wants to visit her mom because the DOS puts her place of birth on it. Went around in circles on this issue, she cannot simply denounce her home countries citizenship as her place of birth is still on her US passport. And they is what they look at, at the POE of her home country.

DOS told us we have to go back to the USCIS to change her place of birth on her certificate first, I have no idea how to do that. Or even if the USCIS would do that, can't find anything on this subject, but a perfect example of buck passing.

Since she was put on record, we had to show efforts when leaving Colombia that she was renewing her Colombian ID, while her mom did have her original ID papers, they wouldn't accept that, so we had to pay an addition 300 bucks for what they call a notary copy of her original. Its been eight months now and nothing, but we could pay for expedient service that amounts to bribing their judges with a thousand dollar bill, well ten hundred buck bills now. I had to do that during our AOS as they made errors on her previous marriage and birth certificate or we would have had to wait another two years for the normal court routine. USCIS would not accept those errors, even though was just a one letter error where they typed a B instead of a V. Note those two letters are right next to each other on your keyboard. Basterds can't even type. So we said the heck with paying that additional expedient fee, and are just waiting.

One reason for trying to get her US citizenship as early as possible was not to have to go through this foreign passport #######, has to be done in person at her consulate and only three of those in the entire USA.

I really don't know if the Philippines require you to maintain their passport, easy enough to find out, call their consulates.

MacArthur was really partial to the Philippines after WWII and gave them the opportunity to become the 49th US state, but their people voted against it becoming a dictatorship state instead. This was actually good for large USA semiconductor corporations after the formation of our EPA. Could move all that polluting ####### and dump it in the streets of your country, couldn't do that here. Plus get all the labor they needed working your people to death for two bucks a day. But according to USA CEO's, this is not criminal, its good business.

In the Philippines, If you are dual citizenship then "Yes" you have to show them your passport upon entry to the Philippines.

US exit- US passport
Philippine entry and depart- US + Philippine passport
Entering the US - US passport

US Citizenship General Discussionwhat is the best option?

Greetings to all,

I am a 10 year green card holder. Resident since 02.23.07. Didn't apply for naturalization when my 3 year
mark down came. I'm not in a hurry to naturalized and thought it's a waste of money to apply so soon,
better use the card until it expired. Plus we have alot of expenses this year. Anyway, We thought about
taking the kids for a visit (around May 2011) in the Philippines next year. NOw, here comes the problem:

1. Notice that my Philippipne passport will expire on 02.2011
2. Didn't report my marriage at the Philippine Embassy (don't know if it is necessary to have it reported
before getting a new passport)

So, my questions are:
1. IS it possible to apply for N-400 even though it's way past the 90days period prior to 3 years?
2. how many months does it takes from sending the form until oath taking (Indy Office)?
3. Does it still take at least 8 weeks to get a US passport?
4. Can I renew my passport on my maiden name thru mail?
5. IF we go to Chicago and apply for new passport, can we do it in a day?

We lived at Indy and we don't really like to travel that far because of the kids. any inputs will be
appreciated.

thanks alot

1. Yes. You may apply for N-400 even if it's already pass your 90days period as long as your GC is not expired. My 90 days period was last April 2010 but i didn't submit my N-400 application until July 2010.
2.Every case is unique which means not everyone has the same timeline. With my case I mailed my application July 2010 and my interview is scheduled this coming Oct 2010.
3. I believe US passport application takes about 6 days to 6weeks or even longer.
4. If you are talking about renewing your Philippine passport then the answer is "NO", they no longer allow renewing passport through mail. Applying for passport in person only takes few hours but they will not give your passport on the same day. They will send your passport in the mail!

You are not obliged to report your marriage to obtain a new passport though if you want to use your husband's lastname on your new passport then you need to do the "Report of marriage". You may report you marriage through mail or in person. In my case I already renewed my passport before I report our marriage so my passport has my maiden name on it and is not the same as what appears on my "Green card". Later on we went back to the Philippine consulate and report our marriage then had my passport ammended.

Hope this helps! Take care

Since you are a spouse of active duty you may file under Military dependents and family which you have to mail your application to Nebraska Service Center instead of Arizona. You don't have to be in the service to qualify for 319(b). As long as your husband is in the military and has orders to deploy overseas anytime soon and you are going with him then you are qualify to apply under 319(b) or you can wait until you guys deploy and do the process over there.

US Citizenship General Discussionchange back to maiden name on naturalization certificate
Can you tell me why you think it would be a headache overseas if you dont change? Is her new name now the name she is using on all US documents(tax, SSN, etc)? The reason im asking is because i have change my name after we got married in court and had to pay over $100. Since my I change my name right after we got married all my US documents are under my new name. But my passport is still my real name and is different from my other documents and i have travelled overseas with them and i didnt encounter any problem as long as I have supporting docs with me(name change docs, birth cert.)

No relationship is perfect..some works and some don't no matter how hard you try eventhough both people feel that they are perfect for each other at first. It's up to them if they want to make things work. Eventhough they are having problems along the way the main concern that the immigration is looking at is wether your friend came here in the US and married your friend not just for GC. As long as their relationship or marriage was genuine before he enters the US then I dont see why your friend would be in trouble. Did he asked his wife to marry him just for greencard or anything like that? If NOT, then he has nothing to worry about.

US Citizenship General DiscussionTraffic citation!
Hi! I have read in different forums that minor traffic violation won't affect the N-400 process but I have some questions. My car got hit early this month while changing lane and had some fender bender. To make the story short the cop hand me a citation for unsafe change of lane. I went to court to contest it but they said that since this is my first time to have a traffic violation, I am eligible for the "Deffered entry" which I need to make sure that my driving records will be clean for another six months and the case will be dissmiss and it wont go on my record. Would this 6months deffered entry affect my N-400 process? And does it mean I am on probation or something? I am not familiar with this so maybe anyone out there had the same experience that you could share. This have been worrying me so much this past few weeks. Thanks!

Yayyy! I went on my interview today and I passed. The Oath taking ceremony is on the same day!   Thank you to all of you and Goodluck to everyone who are still waiting for the interview.

My interviewer was male, he was nice and with sense of humor. My interview took about 25 minutes, he asked my to remain standing did the oath then he asked me if I want him to go through my application first or do the test. I chose to take the test first and he said "Great choice". The questions he asked are :

1. What is the name of the national anthem?
2. What is the rule of law?
3. What major event happened in Sept. 11?
4. How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?
5. What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?
6. Why does the flag have 13 stripes?

Reading:
* How many states does the United State have?

Written:
* There are 50 states in the United States.

He then told me that I passed the civic/reading and writing test. He went through my application and told me that I will be taking the Oath in 2hrs. I told him I'm going to mess with my husband and tell him that I didn't pass. He asked me if I want him to do it for me and I said that It would be cool...lol! He asked me to remain in his office and he went outside asked my husband to come inside because he needed to talk to him about my interview. He asked my hubby to sit down..he was so serious! He then told me if I wanna go ahead tell my husband what's going on. I told my husband I didn't pass...lol! My hubby's reaction was hilarious and the interviewer then told him that the reason I didn't pass is because he didn't stamp my application yet.... :D !

Whooohhoooo!! Just got home from the Fresno Office. I PASSED!! And my Oath Ceremony will be on November 15.
I walked in, the guy told me to swear to say the truth, then he started with the civics. The questions were:

1. If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?
2. During the Cold War, what was the main concern of the United States?
3. There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote. Describe one of them.
4. What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
5. What is one reason colonists came to America?
6. Who is in charge of the executive branch?

After that he told me to READ the question: What state has the most people?

And he told me to WRITE: California has the most people.

Then he went through ALL my application, asking my address, jobs I had, school, the trips outside the U.S., if I was single, if I had kids, asked all the questions on the PART 10 of the Application Form.

I was so nervous, right when I got out I couldn't remember the questions, but on the way home, everything started to get clear. Lol

And that was MY experience. I thought it was going to be much worse, but the man that interviewed was very gentle and kind.

My journey is pratically done. Good Luck now for those who are about to go to the interview.

Congrats!
