Wow congratulations for a healthy baby girl!

Good luck sa'yo!

Thanks Riza.

Goodluck!

Hi again mga mommies, i had my glucose test today and thank God it's negative. Ganun pala yun me ipapainum sayo na sobrang tamis and wait for an hour before ka kunan ng blood. By the way, me nakita akong video on how an epidural being performed share ko lang sa inyo. Thanks.

Thanks... Yeh, hard to see the one you love suffer. She disappears into the bedroom where there is a plastic bucket there, all alone, and vomits in it in the bed, and says nothing, and it makes me feel sad. When she disappears like that I go looking for her and immediately go to her and hold her. I tell her I just want to be there with her when she feels that way. All I can do is hold her and I do what I can. I get a warm, wet cloth for her and wipe her face, but the smell of the detergent in the rag from being washed even makes her sick. I had her sit up even though she was tired and wanted to sleep, because I think that helps to get the acidy stomach to subside, rather than laying down right away. While sitting there on the bed I did massage her with some oil awhile to get her relaxed and I combed and stroked her hair like she likes and that seemed to have helped too. She is resting now, sleeping, but occassionally gets up to spit more saliva from her mouth.

Havent been able to get her to take prenatal vitamins in a couple days because it only adds to the stomach upset. She has gained one pound this first trimester... from 104 to 105. They say she is supposed to put on 3-5 pounds for her size during 1st trimester. Hopefully she will make up for that during her 2nd trimester.

I wish I knew of a vitamin suppliment here like Anmum she could use...maybe some liquid one that was less disturbing to her stomach. I dont know of anything. We go to the gyn the 14th, her 2nd clinic visit. The first was in the Philippines in Quezon City, at 8 weeks 4 days. At that time the report said "Transvaginal Sonography: Uterus is in the midline, anteverted and regularly enlarged containing a gestational sac with a 1.7 cm alive embryo. Fetal heart rate is 153 b/min. Cervical canal is closed. Adnexae are clear. Remainder is unremarkable. Impression: Pregnancy, alive, 8 weeks and 4 day gestational age." That was on December 19.

Her spotting is light. She bled heavy after intercourse after it had stopped for a few weeks just a couple days ago. No more intercourse until we see the doctor again. Last she mentioned about any bleeding was yesterday morning, just 2 very small spots of it. She has had bleeding like that throughout her pregnancy. The doctor wasnt too alarmed, and gave her something to help stop it on December 19, but she never took it because it stopped on its own right after the doctor visit. She says she still has the stuff and will take it if the bleeding continues. I wish she would go ahead and take it anyway right now.

Brian in Tennessee

Don't worry that will be over soon. Morning sickness is just normal in pregnancy but luckily I never experience that. The only thing that bothers me was the excessive saliva and losing my appetite on my first trimester. The best time to take prenatal vit. is after dinner or if you cant really make her take that you can find Anmum on ebay or in any other online shopping.

By the way, did you move to TN from VA?

My husbands favorite is inihaw na bangus.... he even brought a daing na bangus here in the US the second time he went to the phils.

He calls me 3 x a day when i was still in the phils. He covers me up when im cold, he ties my shoe lace if i cant, he gave up his smoking coz i asked him to. I always get the 3 magic words and kisses from him 100 x a day.

I remember your case aries girl, I was still there in the Phils. when i read that. Im sorry to say that you got an #### consul. Teena joe said she was 33 years younger to her husband but didnt had the same problem. It's really depends on a consul, some were not really hard to deal with. Anyway take some VJ's advice to let your husband call the USEM, that might help a lot. At least everyday to get their attention. Goodluck and i hope it will not really take 6 more months of waiting.

Philippinesold passport during interview

I had my old passport (single name) attached on my new passport but the staff from St. Lukes during my medical exam took it out already so i didnt attached it back even going to the USEM. If you went out of the country for a visit, it dont matter. A police certificate is required from a country in which you lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa). You probably know that. So dont be sure if they will not find out if you went out of the country or not. You are right, they will not see it from your passport but the Immigration might have the records. At my initial interview, she asked me if i went out of the country and how long so i said i went to Singapore for 5 days visit. Goodluck!

St. lukes will always perform the medical exam before or after the menstruation. If she have it on that day, she will be told to go back when the "visitor" is gone.
Yeah she is right. I met someone who had her menstraution during my interview and she only end up submitting forms and normal checks like vital signs and eye test. They will just ask her to come back after her period coz she will not be able to get her physical exam to where she have to undress and all that stuff. Better to have the medical exam after the monthly period.

Congratulations and have a safe trip star_smile.gif
Yeah dont forget to bring your visa pocket, you should hand carry it. Dont put it with your luggage. That happens to me, good thing NAIA staff were very accomodating, they had to pull out my luggage again just to get my visa pocket. Not my fault though, the guard in the immigration wont allow me to hand carry that small trolley luggage because its over weight daw so i had no choice, i had to check in that bag but i forgot that my visa pocket was there. Hehe yeah right, TABO is important too. I brought a Bidet from the Phils. (its a hose to be attached on the tube of the flush of the toilet). I used empty mineral water bottle when im not in the house or travelling.

I am just amazed that you had known her for years yet you didn't know that she passed the Midwifery exam, if she is indeed the one on that list of the Midwifery board passers.

I assume that she proceeded to take the Nursing course after passing her Midwifery board. You have to ask her the truth.

If she really wants to take the Nursing board this June then let her take it. The result usually comes out 2 months after the exam.
But this should have been discussed before you filed for the K1 petition. Taking the board exam entails a lot of preparation, not a last-minute decision.

~Chinook

I am a IDIOT, i believed in everything in she told me, I TRUSTED her and only to be taken for a long azz ride like this.

Is her middle name Sarmiento? Clarify this first because that midwife board exam result was released November 2007. That was too long ago.

Your fiancée (wife?) may not necessarily need to take the Local Board Exam. If she is planning to work as a Registered Nurse in the United States, each state has different requirements. It is my understanding that not all states require the Local Board Exam.

You can Google the Board of Nursing for the state in question and read up on their requirements.

Or, maybe she can simply stay in the Philippines until she passes her Local Board Exam.
Exactly, US doesnt need the local board exam unless she wanted an accomplishment more. As far as i know also, K3 is not allowed to leave the US until you get the permanent residence unless you get a permit.

Philippines2 yr Green Card now and 10 years GC later?

I got here on a K3 visa last April this year and Im about to file for my AOS together with my EAD. However, I found this statement from the guidelines:

"If the beneficiary and petitioner have been married less than two years at the time the I-485 is approved then the beneficiary will receive what is called a "conditional" legal permanent residence. This simply means that the beneficiary will have to renew his/her greencard 2 years from the date it was originally "issued" by filing an I-751 to remove conditional status. When filing this form you will need to again show proof of your valid and ongoing marriage"

We will be having our 2nd year wedding anniversary on December 2009. My question is, will it be better if I just wait for a few months before our 2nd year anniv. to file for my AOS so we wont be filing for I-751 to remove conditional status anymore and just file for my EAD first? Well I dont have an idea or maybe some of us here knows how long exactly the AOS will be approved thats why I'm a little bit confuse. My visa expires on 2011 anyway. Im not into rush for my AOS, I just want to save some fees and time in filing all this stuff and I dont want to be paying another fee for the I-751 either. Your advice and opinions are highly appreciated. Thanks!

Sorry guys i have to repost this on this forum, I got some good advices from fellow VJ's in different forum but I want to hear my kababayans based on their experience.

PhilippinesNewark, New Jersey as POE
My POE is Newark. No, 1 1/2 hours lay over is very fine. Just make sure you get the 2 forms from the plane before you land in Newark so you wont be filling out before you fall inline in the custom. (I forgot the name of the forms. One form is for everybody to fill out, the other one is just for entering the country with the visa, i think that was I-94, not really sure. Dont worry they will give you instructions) Flight Stewardess are distributing those forms. Make sure you have your Visa pocket. When you get to the counter, they will ask you few questions like how did you met, when, etc. (thats weird to me, i felt that i was in the embassy still) then you will undergo finger scanner again and after that airport security will assist you to the immigration. The security will hold all your forms and visa pocket. To be honest I got scared on the security assistance, i thought something was wrong. You will have to wait for a few minutes and you will be fine. Ok a few reminders, US is very strict. Never bring a pirated DVD even you plan to put it in a CD holder. I saw one in the immigration i think she was an african or whatever, i saw how they check all her stuff including the cd case and check it one by one. Foods were confiscated. One more thing, never bring immitation bag like Lacoste, Louie Vuitton, Guess or any branded bags or else you will have a problem. Oh FYI, Plane foods are suck! But you are not allowed to bring food even a bottle of water. Goodluck and have a safe trip!

She is very nervous and has never left the country before. I tried explaining what to do in the airport. Can anyone give a nice step by step instruction (what she needs, how to get through customs, what they ask)? Also how can she reach me by phone once she leaves Manila? Do the payphones in Nagoya allow you to enter money for international calls? What about the payphones in Detroit? Can she call me?

Many Thanks
Ask her to enroll her mobile to a roaming, go to the payphones area in Detroit airport and text you the no. of the payphone so you can call her on that payphone. Smart roaming wont let you to call, only text. Globe can but it will charge her for the incoming call. She can also make a collect call using payphone to your landline but not to your cellphone. Get some rest now and do some more stretching LOL (kidding).

You entered here on a CR1 category base on your profile and you married in the Phils. and basically your petition was already under your married name. So i dont understand why you want an ammendment. I left a box of personal stuff in the Phils. and ready to be send here. I dont see any problem in sending it here. I also inquired some couriers and its too expensive. DHL would cost PhP 20K for 50 lbs for 2-3 days, UPS is a little bit higher. Well it would not cost you that much if your clothes will not weigh 50 lbs. I found the Johnny Air Cargo for $237 for 70 lbs but it will take 45 days. It dont matter as long as it will get here and it will not cost me a lot. Make some inquiries and make sure you have the right weight so you'll get the exact charges.

PhilippinesHow to help adjust when here?

I understand her situation as I also went on the same situation the first few weeks I got here but like the other VJ's said she should expect what kind of life she have to face here. That is her choice anyway. When I got here i know i would be starting my life back to zero. I was a city girl, I had to give up the company that i worked for 9 years, now i live in a small town here in the US. I cant go anywhere alone until I get my drivers license. I miss my family of course, friends, my office, big malls, taxi, jeepney, traffic etc. hehe. For the meantime I go with my husband who drives all over the US for a living. I went to a lot of states so far, I call my mom anytime i want, I browse anything online, watch my phil. tv shows online, I chat to my friends and relatives every now and then, that keeps me busy while I dont have a job yet. Adjusting your life here in the US is not so easy but I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tormmorow.
