Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	We did Josue's biometrics appointment yesterday. What a waste of 5 hours in the car! His appointment was at 12, we got there at 11:20 and were out by 11:40. They made me sit in a separate room but let him come out to ask me a question about the form he had to fill out. I know I was frustrated too and our bio letter came one or two days before the 30 day mark where I could have called. This whole process is a huge waiting game and we can just be thankful that we are together with our SO this time around instead of waiting in separate countries! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I'm sorry it's taking so long Looking at our timeline for October, it looks like it's about a month between filing and getting an appointment. I know you're over a month now since your file date so I am hoping it comes this week for you! Hopefully! If not, you can start calling after Wednesday (which of course brings us to a holiday, but being that the offices are open to do biometrics on Friday then you should be able to call Friday if you haven't gotten your appt letter yet - I assume they're only closed Thursday). They won't field phone calls until 30 days after the NOA date. Maybe others send in the I-751 first and then wait to send in the evidence after? Who knows! That seems really risky. You would think they wouldn't even allow separate mailings as they would have to then find the original papers...as strict as they are with everything else! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	Just got back from the DMV, it was pretty easy to renew his DL using the NOA1. We just had to show his green card, the NOA1 and his current DL (this is for VA at least). The only thing I didn't know was that his new license now expires 1 year from the date on the NOA1, not 1 year from the date his green card expires, so it didn't actually extend it for one full year. You would think, but I know better than to believe that people who have been in a certain situation before but that "move on" every remember how it was - like working in a school system with principals & assistant principals who were once teachers, but they no longer remember how it was to be in the classroom day in and day out. Fortunately for my husband, they are usually pretty understanding (we just try to not push the limits and ask for every little thing) and today they are letting him go at 3:45 to make it to the DMV by 4, so he is only losing 45 minutes. Also, since our appointment is the day after Thanksgiving, he is off anyway so didn't lose an extra day. The bad thing is, his company gives Thanksgiving day off paid but the Friday afterwards is unpaid unless you use a vacation day. There is not an option for him to work because the offices are closed that day, so since we like to save his limited vacation time to our trips to Guatemala, he has to take the day unpaid regardless. The annoying thing is I will be 36 weeks pregnant and we were really hoping not to have to travel. It's also after his license expires and we were hoping to go to the DMV on the same day so he won't have to ask off work twice. Oh well, I'm not meaning to complain, I just wish it was earlier. But at least we're not still waiting for the letter! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	And if you are unlucky one, like me, after 30 days has passed, they tell you to wait till 90 days has passed and you still haven't received the appointment. They did send me an email to tell me that Orlando office is too busy and hasn't got a slot available for my appointment time to be scheduled but they'll let me know as soon as the slot becomes available. DAH!!! Very frustrating.... Good luck and may your biometrics journey be much shorter then mine Oh wow! So you still haven't gotten an appointment? That is frustrating! I hope it doesn't extend your actual RoC process any. I'll have to look to see if anyone has had trouble getting into the Durham office. I'll have to wait for the actual biometrics appointment I think. We have to leave the state to do them from where I live, and it's nearly 3 hours one way. Would hate to get all the way there on the chance and get turned away. We are in a similar situation. All this is what makes us want to go ahead and file for citizenship...just to be done with USCIS! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I called USCIS on Friday about our Biometrics letter. The first frustration was that although my husband filed a "joint petition" based on our marriage, they wouldn't talk to me about it because I am technically neither the applicant or the petitioner. I had to call back when Josue got home from work and he had to give them his permission to talk to me. Then they told me I had to wait until after 11/4 (30 days after my NOA1 date of 10/3) and then they could file a service request with our local ASC office (which is not so local - it's a 2 1/2 hour drive). So, for those of you who are anxious like me about not yet getting the Biometrics appointment, don't waste your time calling until after 30 days. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	Not yet maybe tomorrow, here in NC the problem is they based the expiration of the License to the expiration of the GC so if I renew my license they will allow me to used it for 1 year because I do have 1 year extension, so complicated it so different from other states. I don't think that's very different from most states - it's the same here in VA. I'm just waiting for the Biometrics appointment so my husband only has to take one day off work. The DMV takes the last walk-in at 4:30 and that's when he gets off work...we are going to try to combine the Biometrics appt w/ going to the DMV but we haven't got the letter yet! Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	I just tried to check our case status online at USCIS.gov & I put in our Receipt Number from the NOA but it says: "Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.375.5283" :/ Should I be worried? From reading other forums, I'm pretty sure only the case number on your biometrics notice will work for online case updates. Edited to say that I read your next post and see that you noticed that on the bottom of the letter. Too bad I only knew it from reading forums and I didn't see it on our letter haha. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 October 2011 Filers	Alright guys, I need your honest opinion. Got home today and still no Biometrics appointment letter. At what point should I be really worried? I don't mind waiting, but my concern is that the letter got lost in the mail and we miss our appointment and then get into all sorts of problems. We don't live in a big city so there is not even an office nearby to make an Infopass appt. Do you think I should go ahead and call or just wait another week or so? If so, who do I call? That would be nice, but did you guys notice that VSC processing times for the I-751 changed from 6 months to some date in February - that's now 8 months At least we are not separated from our SO in this process...that makes life MUCH easier! I am the USC myself, my husband couldn't be bothered with posting on a forum and checking the mail/bank/updates everyday lol. Definitely the USC here. I thought I was told that we had to wait to apply for the ROC when we had 9 months left before the expiration but no later then 90 day before the expiration. Everything I read on the link said to wait until there was 90 days left before the expiration. Am I reading this worng? I also noticed that it said you MUST file 90 days before the expiration. Also has anyone here not been able to provide a mortgage with both names on it. I would have had to refinance my house to make that happen and that is just not possiable. Getting all the other documents will not be an issue though. Again, Thanks for the help Jack & Xuan You have to apply WITHIN 90 days BEFORE your GC expires. We actually got a letter in July reminding us to do so before my husband's GC expires on 11/18 but I have read that not all people receive such a letter. Our window to file was after 8/20 but before 11/18. We had a similar situation with our house: the mortgage is only in my name, so I sent a copy of the mortgage account info showing it was in my maiden name and explained in the cover letter that I began the purchase process on the home before we were married and it was finalized while my husband was a recent immigrant and did not yet have a SS# or any established credit, and that is why we didn't have any lease/mortgage together. I can't guarantee that this will work as we have not yet been "approved" but I don't foresee any problem. We had 2 affidavits & lots of other financial ties together. Updating list, biometrics letter received today, date of appointment 11/09. Considering early walk in..... Where do you guys live? Yes, it serves as a one-year extension that allows you to work and travel. We are planning on taking ours to the DMV to get my husband's license extended as well. I think I'll just stick with the 6 I have. If they want more, I'll send them! With our ROC package, I sent 12 pictures - none from wedding/honeymoon, but a couple with family at various occasions, trips we had taken, one on the plane together to go visit his family. I hope everything is accepted! @Iml3g3nd, I agree with RebeccaandPhil - we are just going to take the NOA1 to the DMV before my husband's license expires on 11/18 so it will get extended for another year. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 September 2011 Filers	We do all our bills online and it was simple enough to go to our accounts and print off pages there. Not sure how that is hard to track down? We only copied the important pages of my husband's passport, skipped all the empty pages. Unfortunately, we haven't received our NOA1 yet, so no idea if we'll get an RFE for not enough, but I highly doubt it. It's one of the few things I'm not worried about in our package! Your package seems pretty sound in my opinion. Sometimes online accounts only keep record of the past year or so; that's what I was worried about, but I was able to copy a paper bill that I had from mid-2009 so I figured one from soon after marriage & one recent would suffice. The house is in my name only since we bought it before he had a SS#, established credit, etc. I do show we at least have the same address on licenses & my friend says that we live together in her affidavit. Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion	I-751 September 2011 Filers	Passport has nothing to do with ROC at all, you should check out the guides for whats needed. Please don't assume that I have not done any research or read the guides just because I asked a question. Yes, you are right in that the I-751 instructions do not require copies of the passport. However, the sample cover letter (which I got FROM the VJ guides page) shows "copies of green card & passport of beneficiary." So my question was simply, do you think I should copy all pages of the passport or just the info page and the ones with stamps showing visits back home? And would it be beneficial to also show copies of my stamps showing we went together? I previously posted in this forum a full list of all the evidence I am including but got no response, so I will post them again: • Copies of the passport and green card of Josue Cacerez. • Two sworn affidavits by U.S. citizen friends, attesting to our relationship and marriage. • Copy of tax transcripts from our 2009 & 2010 joint Federal tax returns. • Copy of the Designation of Beneficiary form showing Josue as the beneficiary of my life insurance. • Copy of our car loan through Beacon Credit Union, showing us as joint borrowers. • Copy of our July 2011 electric bill from Appalachian Power showing joint account. • Copy of our July 2011 cable bill from Comcast showing joint account. • Copies of various credit cards showing the same account number. • Copy of most recent Auto Policy Declarations with Allstate showing joint coverage. • Partial copy of Advance Medical Directive showing Josue Cacerez as my legal Health-Care Agent. • Copy of both Virginia Driver’s Licenses showing same address. • Various photos of events we have attended together since our marriage. • Ultrasound photos of our first child, a baby girl we are expecting on December 24, 2011. My other concern was that the copies of bills we have do not prove that we have been living together all this time - should I try to get a few old bills also?
