For the tax documents (other than W2s and 1099s) are you guys sending all the other accompanying docs? Like, worksheets, state tax forms, etc?

I am sending Tax *transcripts* for 2006, 2007, & 2008. You can request these from the IRS - just go to their website. These are official and contain all the pertinent facts from your 1040. And they are free I think. If not free, really cheap, but I don't remember paying anything. They arrived in my mailbox in only a few days, and I did not need to look for the files and make copies...point, click, check the mailbox...

hi everyone,

just a quick question for FEB 09 filers, has anyone received their NOA2 yet. myself and fiance are still waiting and i was just wondering if anyone else was in the same situation.

hope we hear soon, smile.gif

There have been quite a few approvals from the first half of Feb (up to about Feb 12). None from the later half, but they should be starting to come over the next 1-4 weeks... You should not be worrying yet...

WOW - now for sure i have reached my breaking point. I was hoping I got my NOA2 before LIZ since I applied a day earlier - now i am afraid my application is stuck in limbo and i will have to
1- wait 6 mo
2- deal with USCIS
3- contact US Senator
4- kill myself because this whole process sucks and there is no way of knowing whats going to happen next.

Sorry for the rant, congrats to those that received their NOA2s and please, dont rub it in so much

1. Don't Panic
2. Don't Panic

Things happen such that NOA2 is NOT received in the same order as NOA1 date. I would (try, as hard as it is to do) to be patient - it could be any day now! In a few weeks, *then* you are behind and I would think about calling your Senator. BUT it won't do much good until you are past 6 months.

Yes this process sucks and USCIS b.s. is the one to blame...but there is nothing you can do...

Dave, did you ride yet? I have forgotten the date, sorry.

Richard,

I sure did! It was yesterday. Special thanks go out to you and Lee_b for the support! Through friends and family like you guys, I was able to raise over $3500 for the American Diabetes Association and the even raised over $500K (so far). No problems with the 63 miles (that is 100 kilometers for most people on the planet) - my training paid off! Weather was perfect! I started at 8:10 in the morning and finished around 1:20pm (5 hours 11 minutes including rest stops/snacks etc). Then there was a little ceremony where two "youth ambassadors" spoke - it was moving hearing how two kids have taken control of this disease - one who was diagnosed at age 6, one at age 15. After that it was back home for a shower and some celebratory beers (and some food that was higher in carbs than I can usually handel - an advantage of burning about 4000 calories in one ride!).

Maybe next year I will have to go for 100 miles...

Hey Liz

Rich- that's terrible to find out about your application having errors. Hopefully whoever handles your file at USCIS looks at them as minor and pushes them through. I would feel horrible for you if it gets held up or an RFE issued for something minor.

Dave- can you post the link to donate to your charity ride. I'll spare you the details, but lets just say I often hate my bank and banking in general.

Hi Lee,

I hear ya, I am not a fan of banks....I have one that I am happy with, but they are an exception!

I am looking forward to the ride! I just have to try not to get any tickets - last weekend the police targeted cyclists in Loudon County (including those who were riding in the MS 150 charity event!!)

I'll have to stop at all the signs....which I usually try to do anyway, but I may have to stop and take my foot out of the pedal instead of just slowing to .5 mph and looking both ways...

What a terrible waste of resources. Deporting is more expensive than correcting the problem. I swear the word is full of geniuses!!!

Yes, the USCIS is saying this young girl age 11 (who has been here since she was 2) has to leave by July 23 and it could take a year to get her back... She only speaks English and will have to go to school back in Poland.

The system is BROKEN and it appears that nobody wants to even acknowledge that it is broken, let alone try to fix it.

Maybe when I retire, I will volunteer smile.gif

This is a clear case where the USCIS management chain is broken. There is essentially no escalation ability to get unusual/extreme circumstances addressed. This is something that there should be a means of having this handled with some kind of humanitarian judgement applied and have it fixed. This case is an extreme. As was the case of some 200 odd widows that were in the process of getting deported before a couple days ago. There is no recourse when a arbitrary decision is made on a case. Draconian, stupid, thoughtless, ...

I just got done reading a post from another impatient fellow. I think the problem with the USCIS phone system is the incessant calling from impatient people 1 week after filing. If I was in control of the phones and silly calls from impatient people came in everyday, well before the allotted time, I too would restrict the information the operators had. The cost would be huge and I can see the burden those calls would be. However I would make sure the internet site was very functional and allowed a lot of traffic.

I agree and disagree with this. Yes, the load on the call center means that it is impractical to have enough staff to handle the calls. HOWEVER, a lot of this demand comes from the way the USCIS is organized and processes work. There is essentially ZERO available information to those who file. This extends to any actual support needed (ZERO ability to make any real change except for an address change that may or may not work). And I would argue that the information provided in the forms, instructions and web sites is also lacking, resulting in a lot of uncertainty about what is needed to avoid denials, RFEs etc. As a result ppl call the USCIS to try to get help, but get no further information. So they try a few times in desperation.

A lot of this all really stems from a system that would have been archaic 20 years ago, let alone today. This is exacerbated by a bureaucracy run amok, rules and laws that often are arbitrary, and enforcement that is as* backwards (if you are worried about people who come here leaving on time, make sure they do, don't keep them from coming here just because they *might* overstay or work).

Aww, Lee...I'm sure it's very hard to take sometimes.

I'm fortunate I guess in that all of my friends and most of my family are very supportive. The one I have the most "trouble" with is my Mom and even that isn't so much about me marrying someone from the Netherlands (or anywhere for that matter) it's more about the whole money thing with her. She completely FREAKED out when I told her Pat wouldn't be able to work for the first several months. She thinks he is just going to be "living off you" ....like he's doing it on purpose! I told her trust me, he'd work the first day he got here if he could!!! She's about the only one that drives me nuts about things like that.

I wish there was some way for you to mention how aggrivating it was without them harrassing you even more...

Well, I think with a new house, and a Hubby with no job, there is going to be a LOT of things to be done to the house! By the time he gets his EAP he will be running to get a job because it will be a break from the house renovations/"honey do" list... Just let your mom know this and that he won't be "idle"...you put him to *work* smile.gif

Oooh now the link is twice listed, very close.

I'm living in Stafford, and I HATE the traffic, the populated suburban housing and the over-worked-traffic-ridden-stressed people I have to smile to everyday at work! (cashier at a grocery store) I think it's worse to think about because I'm not from here and most of my relatives/family is on the West Coast.

I hear ya on the traffic! and the I-95 corridor is hell! I moved where traffic would not be so bad...only about 10 miles and on a really bad day it takes about 40 minutes in the worst rush hour... Usually only about 20-25 (no highways...so the lights slow things). I *hate* traffic. And after living and traveling by foot, train, boat, bus, tuk-tuk, jeepney, etc for 3 years - I have even less patience for it.

But if you get out to the Shenandoah valley it is a lot more mellow... still, I would rather be on the beach with no need to ever get in a car and commute...

It is a waste of time! But, they get paid to provide "customer service"...I find it amusing to call them and then point out how they do not do anything useful...no reliable information, no real help, no service to speak of. I also have said to them when I called "I know you have a script you are supposed to use, so why don't you just read it off (since I know it is your "metric" for performance)". Let them ramble on and then ask them if they can actually do *ANYTHING* to provide real information or service and hear them say no, not that we don't already know...

But be careful if they suggest an Infopass...I found out that is a waste of time too...

Get there 1 hour early to reserve a bike? Does that mean you can spin for 2 hours? or you have to waste an hour doing nothing?

I ride to work when I can - it is about 45 minutes. On the way home, I usually take a "detour" to add distance - usually the way home is about 25 miles... which takes less than 2 hours to do... And no waiting, no membership fees, no money for the class...plus fresh air! And lately some wildlife on the trail (a snapping turtle, a couple {harmless} snakes, a few ground hogs, lots of geese).

Thanks Dave... Sorry for your loss.

Thanks, I just hope folks check this every year or so. A simple test (just a little more blood to check) could prevent another from suffering like this.

(by the way, where in the DC area were you? I've been around the area most of my life, both MD and VA)

I swear as I read the previous posts, you guys add 3 pages!

My honey went back to camp today, so back to texting through skype and the occasional internet cafe chat! I'm really grateful that he was able to hear about the NOA2 via phone and be at home to look up the stuff we have to organize now.

Ahhhh, I hope he gets to have time of the end of July for us to see each other!!

Maybe I'll post some pics too of us. Just a note, we're a bit goofy.

Maire-You two are gorgeous and whenever you may have kids, they'll come out as super model babies!

I've looked at others pictures too, and it's so encouraging to see all of us so in love with our SO!

Personally, I think GOOFY is a good thing! and frankly, most of us are!

Heyyyy...who u callin' Goofy??? mad.gif wacko.gif whistling.gif

Hey, if the shoe fits, wear it, but if not... well... smile.gif

Hi Folks,

I mentioned on here before that I have been training to ride 100km/63m in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure in Reston, Virginia.

I just wanted to post here, to see if any of my Feb VSC family might be willing to sponsor the ride ($10, $25, whatever is left over from all the fees associated with this process!), I would be grateful. I know times are tough, but it is a worthy cause. I would bet that everyone here knows someone who is diabetic (even if they are not aware of it). Some of the quick facts:

23 million Americans have diabetes (about 1 in 12 Americans) - about 5 million do not know they are.
57 million more are "pre-diabetic" - at great risk of developing diabetes and already exhibiting some elevation in Blood Glucose
$174 billion is spent (direct and indirect) on this disease annually
Diabetes kills annually more than AIDS and Breast Cancer *combined*

For many, the first diagnosis is when they have been living with the disease for a long time and did not know this. Often the complications are already taking their toll. Just one example is one of my closest friend - his diagnoses came with a simple sore in his foot which due to diabetes resulted in an infection that spread to his foot. He was hospitalized, put into a medically induced coma, part of his foot was amputated, and 2 years later, was dead. He is why I am riding this year (and also for myself as I was diagnosed about 18 months ago).

If you care to donate, go to http://tinyurl.com/c8agxr

Please remember to ask your doctor to check your blood sugar levels to screen for problems at every annual visit. If you see problems early, there is a LOT you can do to avoid any complications and live a long, healthy life.

Dave

I donated.... putting PEER PRESSURE on the rest of the group! smile.gif

Thank you so much Richard! I am grateful for any donations (even simply of just cheerleading)!

Thanks for the congrats everyone.

I have no idea what the order or work situation for the VSC, but I think that June is definitely February's month.

Good luck to everyone, I'll be stopping back in of course.

Prayers to all too, it's helpful when your honey is away..

I would not get too worked up about not getting a NOA2 just because someone else with the same NOA1 date got theirs. They all go in boxes and on any given day there are probably 5-10 boxes of applications. These are taken by different induhviduals and worked on at those inDuhvidual's pace (thus meaning some are already out of order from the start). Also don't forget all application are sent through an FBI name check, and I am pretty sure criminal history checks, which are dependent on the response of the states (this may be why FL seems slow for those here, it may just be chance). Who knows what will happen for me having lived overseas and traveled all over Asia, New Zealand and Australia for close to 2 years...

I hope thought that this means that all yours are in the mail, or will be soon! I expect I will be the poor soul left waiting and may even get an RFE. Still hoping that I get mine next week...or today would be good too.

A February one?

No offense, but ONE approval is a downer. That would mean that I have about 80 working days left sad.gif If they were really working, we should see 5-10/day....

I think it has to do with the fact that they did not set up their timeline page. But I could be wrong.

I think it is when someone fills in a timeline, but they have not signed up to VJ and created a profile. Thus there is no profile to link to from the timeline

I think she would since your SO has already confirmed it and you confronted the girl. Who knows people choose to lie about the strangest things sometimes.

i confronted my mother-in-law not the girl....but since I did Iam sure she will tell the girl pretty soon if she didnt last night already...and Iam sure the girl will think she is a threat to me cus Iam upset..but w.e Im just upset that if we are engaged she has no business in my in-laws house..but that boundary should be set by my in-laws themselves out of respect for me...at least thats my thought...but again iam very old fashion when it comes to respect and relationships....

So are you saying that for our VJ reunion, I should be packing???? Myself and the 2 Richards will take care of the situation. devil.gif We will not let this chick mess with our Maire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I definitely feel it is ok for you to be upset - it is a natural reaction. It is also good to deal with it and discuss it with your (very soon to be) hubby and his mother. I am not going to jump to conclusions about the girl or your mother in law because I do not know much about the background. Air your concerns, express your desire that they respect you and your relationship. But there may be a legitimate friendship with this other girl and your mother-in-law that predated any fling with your hubby (has the slVt been friends with the family since childhood?) Make sure the right people know that you have your concerns about this other tr8mps relationship and continued presence. Maybe they should cut her out, maybe not, but as long as they put your relationship first and foremost.

Lets get a lot of approvals today and not just in the month of January either. Let's increase the approvals in February. lets go please i need to see my baby again.

If we get 4 more Jan approvals, we will be at the same approval rate as Dec (82 out of 112). So we are really close to moving fully into Feb! In fact we have moved up from 6% completed to 11% (12 out of 109) in the last few days. I can't wait to see the start of NOA2 announcements here!

how do you know? where do you see this so i can start tracking that

I am just looking at "Igor's List" as linked to in the "Immigration Timelines" page (see link at the top of this page). It has the number of approvals, and number waiting for approval, grouped by the month VJ users received their NOA1. Of course, this is only VJ users experience.

I just sent an email to USCIS webmasters and it went a little something like this:

Hello,

It would be extremely helpful, if USCIS would post weekly stats and updates about which visas (months of filing) they are reviewing. Because looking at processing timeframes is frustrating and it does not help people who are desperately waiting for an answer or approvals. I filed for a K-1 visa in February and as of today there is no real updates about the case. There is thousands and thousands of people that are in the same situation as me. I spoke to a lot of people that have filed for K-1 visas and they are just frustrated and angry as I am, because this visa is not just a piece of paper that people are waiting for. These are people's lives and USCIS has to understand that by delaying the process and/or not updating people in a timely fashion, makes it that much more difficult.

Thank you.

I know that I am most likely waisting my time, but for some strange/dumb reason I felt better after I sent it.

Rock on for the effort! Probably wasted effort, but I agree with the sentiment, and maybe it makes the time pass... In all likelihood the webmaster address is ignored, and even if isn't, they are likely disconnected from the process that could get the change made. Still, one can hope.
