I just got back from Spanish class and I see that everyone is getting touched. Good Luck! No approvals for the 19th but it sounds like a lot of behind the scene action is going on.

Yea, not sure what's up with that - no approvals yet. Maybe a bunch of us will be getting RFEs, but hopefully not! Or maybe they are just working late today. As someone else said and I have read on other topics here on VJ that they can sometimes work from home and pick their own schedules within reason, so maybe some are working til 6 or 7 EST today!?!?!

There's also now 9 approved from 2/17 anyone know who added?

I'm knackered, just spent a day in London for work. That place does me in.

I'm assuming knackered is like saying I'm beat, I'm exhausted, etc??? Sorry, not too up on my English English unsure.gif

LOL - yes it does mean exhausted. It took me a while to figure that one out too. I'm having to learn that I speak "American" which doesn't always translate with "English" biggrin.gif

It took me a l-o-n-g time to figure out what "in the wars" meant blush.gif . (it means that you feel 'banged up')

LOL good to know...I've never heard that one! Are there any on here who are going to have to teach their SO English when they arrive? My fiance only speaks a little bit of English and it's mostly food/restaurant terms as he used to work in a restaurant and the town he lives in is fairly touristy - it's right by a beautiful lake and gets a lot of backpacker-college age traffic. I'm open to any and all tips on how to teach English...I read a pretty useful topic on here about putting sticky notes in the house with the English/Spanish words on it, don't use slang, don't mumble, etc. This is one of our goals during the time that he gets here and is waiting for his EAD.

I actually teach Spanish, so I can tell you how to use what tense and when, etc., but don't ask me about how to form English sentences lol! It's so hard to explain to him - he heard a line in a song "I just need you to hear" and he asked me if that was the same as "I need you here" and I tried explaining the difference but he said - here and hear are spelled different but pronounced the same???? When I think about forming the English language, it is quite difficult!!! I need help!

Thanks guys!!!! I can't wait for you all to have this feeling!!

DaveChels, yes maybe they have started a new box?!? No touches at all, then the email came straight through. It has changed on USCIS as well.

GOOD LUCK!!! jest.gif

Yeah, now it's just time to wait and see if we're in the same box as you LOL. Good to know, the only thing is I can't logon to USCIS anymore and I've changed my password and everything and it tells me I have "multiple SR" whatever that means, but I can still logon under my fiance's login. I think that was part of the original problem since we both registered our email with the same EAC # but we'll see. So I don't know if they will send me an email or him so I keep checking his email too haha.

In my case i did not get any touches i think the last touch i got was oct 8 after they placed my folder in a box. since there have been october approvals i have been checking uscis site and this thread like every 10 mins hahaha lol it was just crazy. and then yesterday i was out the whole day and my fiance sent a message to check his email and there it was the approval notice...

DaveChels, i also did not include any letter of intent..i guess those 120 pictures which i printed on 10 pages of A4 photo paper which i included helped a lot hahaha i really did not know it was a lot until i found this site. Even the part wherein how we met each other...i just wrote i think about 4 sentences and had to fit it in that tiny box that was in the form.

I told you guys i will keep everybody updated here even if i got my approval hahaha laughing.gif

congratulations to those who just got their approvals! i know how it feels really exciting ahaha i was jumping up and down when i was actually reading the email hahaha

Wow you fit 12 pics on one sheet of paper? wow.gif That's a feat in and of itself lol. I only sent about 5 pictures, one of which was with his family at dinner and another with him, his little sister, his mom, me, and several other people doing ministry work. Since I wrote in "how we met" about how we were the same religion and all, I figured that would help. The book that I purchased was very helpful except that it had a whole section called "What is my name?" but did not say anything about Hispanic names, where they used Given name, 2nd Given (middle) name, father's last name, mother's last name. I just winged it the best I could and I don't foresee any problems with that. The book also did not specifically mention a letter of intent, just proof that you are making plans, etc. I just wrote at the end of the "how we met" answer that we would be married by the judge soon after he entered, and since I signed that as an addition to question 18 then hopefully they will accept it.

Anyone concerned about getting stuck in AP? I have read where some people get stuck at NVC or in Administrative Processing for security checks after the interview for months and months. Any rhyme or reason to this? I read somewhere one of the issues was if your fiance has a common name. Anyone know what the other issues are? Maybe someone who has been on VJ longer than me???

Don't worry your approval DavChels is also on its way i'm sure. Lately you have been active to this october thread and made it lively good.gif . I also found this site after doing all the paper works for our I-129F. I am the beneficiary but at the same time was the one who filled up all the forms that had to be submitted. all my fiance did was to sign the forms and include the copies of whatever was needed like the copy of his naturalization and other stuff. He wanted me to fix the documents for him coz he was saying i wasn't working and to keep myself busy by doing the paper works which he said i was good at doing those things better than him. I found this site after sending the finnished docs to my fiance and for him to sign then send to vermont. Now i know my hard work payed off hahahaha! goodluck to everyone!

Thanks! I hope I didn't sound whiney like "I wish someone would acknowledge me" lol, I was just saying that I truly wish I had found this forum earlier, it has been very helpful. In fact, I bought a book specifically for Fiance and Marriage Visas and it did not specifically mention that there had to be a letter of intent signed by both parties so I did not include that in my package. I am afraid I will get an RFE, and then be one of those couples who sends the RFE back and then has to wait for another couple months to hear anything back whereas if I had just included what they wanted in the first place I would have been approved. But we'll see. I have read that sometimes they will overlook this part as long as everything else is met - I guess we'll just have to see!

I had to fill out all the documents because my fiance doesn't speak English. He just signed it and trusted me smile.gif Good think trust is so much a part of love biggrin.gif

Either way, let's keep these approvals rolling! Hopefully they'll keep like they're doing - mostly Octobers, but not leaving too many Septembers behind. I really wish there was a way you could delete the timelines of people who haven't signed on in 2 or 3 months. I asked Captain Ewok about that but I don't see anything updated recently. Any ideas? http://www.visajourn...p;#entry2587858

I did notice that! Wow 6 or 7 would be good...or 9 or 10 would be good too like CSC was doing earlier this year. http://cse.ssl.berke...data/stats.aspx

Tom just called USCIS to change his address and decided to ask about our case, see if it had been assigned. Shows you why they call it the mis-information line. This is what he said ''after a runaround and telling me the same stuff we already know, she was saying VT service center is now processing April 2008 applications, I was like #######. And when I asked if it got assigned to an officer, got the same runaround.'' I read they just quote the website at you.

What a surprise. Nice to know they're so not helpful. I guess people would be calling all the time and they would never get any work done, but you would think it would just be easier and take less time to say yes or no instead of explaining why they can't really answer you. Like others earlier I too found some good prices with Delta, £278 return London Heathrow to Atlanta (direct). With Delta you can also book your seat when you book. That's a prerequisit of mine when I fly alone. I think that was the only flight to Atlanta that allowed me to do that.

Laura, where do you like to sit when you travel alone? I just don't like sitting in between people I don't know, but I will take either a end seat or an aisle seat.

Something to note is that several filers (Oct and pre-Oct.) received RFE's on Friday Feb. 13th, so although there was only one approval registered on the site, there was other work going on. As well, you can see a fairly large number of July filers who are left have RFE's, suggesting that their filers have already initially been reviewed and are awaiting the petitioner's action.

I think we're going to have some REALLY good news today and tomorrow! Just a feeling.

All the best!

I got a pretty good deal in April - I also booked directly through Delta (I have Skymiles now!) and paid $473 but there is a layover in Atlanta (if I were flying directly from Atlanta I'm sure I would have got a much better deal!) Also, Delta gives 2 bags free with International flights, so I am flying with one full suitcase and one empty one and coming back with 2 full ones! I'm coming back April 19 and we're hoping that Josue will have his interview in May or June and will be able to come right away!!! We're keeping our fingers crossed at least!

The luggage sets that come are pretty neat since they all fit inside each other, so I'll take him a set (he has never flown before and does not have suitcases) as one piece and then just come back with one. He said he can get his hands on one down there, so he'll have a couple to come with in June (or maybe even May we hope!)

I hope it's not presumptuous to bring some of his stuff a month or two early from his "projected" interview date. We're hoping for at least approval by the time I'm down there and possibly even knowing the interview date.

Let's go VSC! star_smile.gif Have a great day everyone!

edit to say I just looked at My Timeline and it says April 2-13 and the range has been starting at April 8th, 9th, or later for a while now! Any ideas why it would do that now after a 3 day weekend with only 1 approval???? kicking.gif

Hi every one,

I registered on VJ last month and only just discovered the October thread! We received our NOA1 on 10/14/08, so I'm getting slightly excited. I hope we hear something soon, but I'm also worried we'll be on of those couples that are kept waiting for months, without any particular reason. Fingers crossed for everyone, we all know how awful it is to be apart from the one you love and you don't even know for how long.

I also have a question, or would like to hear your thoughts about something: I would really like to go and visit my fiance in the States. Is that possible while you have a visa application pending? I have studied in the States on a student visa (during which time I met my boyfriend/now fiance). After the studies were over, I returned on a visa waiver, for just under 90 days. I went back home for 2 weeks and then returned on a visa waiver again. I was already nervous about that, because eventhough there's no official rule about how many times you can visit on a waiver, you obviously can't keep traveling in and out of the country all of the time. So, my fear was a little justified, as the officer saw I was returning on a visa waiver for the second time after only being out of the country for two weeks. I was sent to secondary inspection (a horrible place, I felt like a criminal almost) and they just ran a check on me and then said it was ok and I could travel on (phew). However, they told me to stay out of the country for as long as I had been in it, before returning on a waiver.

I left the USA on July 12th 2008, so more than 7 months ago. I would like to go back over there early April for a week or two, to have a look at wedding venues, apartments, etc., and of course to see my guy, who I miss terribly. I've never overstayed any visa or anything like that, but somehow (after my last experience) I'm a little worried about going back while the K1 is pending. What do you say when they ask you what you're doing there? Do they see you have a visa pending? I've read stories about people being refused if they say they're visiting their boyfriend/fiance.

Is a return ticket enough proof that you're not there to stay (yet)? I also have a job I need to be back for, maybe that helps?

What you said at first about being one of those couples that gets overlooked, I get scared about that too! But hopefully we'll all have smooth sailing.

I know this is not new as the other comments have been made about the same, but I'm sure with the time since your last visit you will be fine and as others have recommended it would be good to have the return ticket as well as a letter from your employer stating what date you are expected back at work. I wish my man lived in a country that participates with VWP!

I read the posts from the former adjudicator that mention how the applications get boxed up and it's of luck of the draw as to when the actually get to them. I know it's the system, but now that they are looking at us . . .

Duplicity is a fun game but it certainly burns when you get caught. I think it's a stage, somewhere around adolescence. My students engage in it on a daily basis. They love to trick each other, and though they are not even in high school yet they are beginning to use their sexuality as one of the tools. They lie to teachers probably half the time. Sometimes they do not even need to lie but do so out of sport. Interestingly enough, most do respect authority but it must be true. Many teachers in my district fail because they lack true authority.

When I read several posts throughout the internet universe, there seem to be the same dynamics in play. Lies, cheats, and viciousness abound. Fortunately we find islands of threads, such as our own that support others, play fair, etc. Such is the world.

I see Oct. 7th approvals and I begin thinking about how mine is only about 2 weeks after that date. I am getting excited, even if the wait ends up being several more weeks. This has been a fun journey because there waaay more than a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. Wow, being apart from my fiancee has made me appreciate her much deeper.

As a teacher myself I can appreciate your comments from above. I do teach high school and it certainly does not get any better. Even other students notice and often times say something. For example, there is a boy and girl in one of my classes who flirt all the time, but they each have their own "SO" if you will. They were flirting today and touching each other's arms, hands, etc. and another girl said "Elise, don't you have a bf and Brian don't you have a gf? Do they know how you act when they're not around?" lol you should have seen the look on their faces - they seemed so pitiful haha.

Also, it's so sweet that you say that your fiance is "waaay more than a pot of gold." If every person treated their SO with such love and respect there would not be a need for divorce laws!

Hoping for more October approvals guys!!!!!

So nothing new and exciting has happened since the bunch of emailed approval notices this morning right? That got me so hyped up! I'm hoping we will get some more good news this afternoon! For the first time in my life since I was in middle school and only saw my "boyfriend" during the week I am actually dreading the weekend...because that means no new approvals crying.gif

Have you all seen the Filipina who is has two bf's from the US petitioning her? Grrrr that makes me so mad.gif because it's people like her that make this process so difficult!!!!!

Congrats Carmen! kicking.gif star_smile.gif

I just opened up my email and we got our approval also!!! kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif
It was dated Feb 11 too and I believe we are 180 on Igors.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!

Congrats!! This is exciting. wub.gif Happy Valentines Day!! wub.gif tongue.gif
So you guys are getting the notices in the mail? No emails? I am in Nicaragua and my family is on a ski trip for 10 days I hope I get an email....that is if I get approval this week. Just being hopeful. Wow! I am so excited for everyone. Keep them coming. Are all treads this vocal?

Looks like they did get an email but you can still logon to www.uscis.gov website and logon and see if they don't send you an email for some reason. I have seen some, though, that do not get emails and online it still says "Case received and pending" but they get the NOA2 in the snail mail.

I am excited too! kicking.gif Just waiting for my day smile.gif

Well we don't get a packet 3 in Guatemala so we just have to wait for packet 4 which will include the interview date and everything, so I guess I need to get to working on the paperwork. I don't know if I should go ahead and ask my boss for the letter to go with the I-134 (I think that's the number?!?) or wait. It may take him a week or two to get it to me. What do you guys think? Also, I guess I need to read up on the guides and stuff for that form because I have made above poverty line definitely for 2007 and 2008 but I started working this job August 2006 and before that I was a FT student working PT so I don't remember how much I made. Is there a 3 year minimum for making 125% of poverty line or is it just proving a stable job, etc? Because I don't have a lot in savings, but I suppose I could include bank statements showing how much was deposited last year and all that jazz. Ideas?

I think you have to be making 125% at the time of the interview and in the pay stubs you provide.

Thanks! I hope so! I'll have to do more research on this smile.gif Another thing I am getting together for the interview is a scrapbook I am making of Josue and I. Of course this is just a hobby anyway but I figure it will show the ongoing relationship because it will include pics from 2 different visits as well as pics of me with his family, doing community service work together, etc.

Congrats to those who are getting more movement on their cases!!

I am counting down the month til the interview and then hopefully just one more week til we get married! I'm really nervous about the interview and we still have 31 days to go!!!!

Either way, hope everyone is having a lovely day (and wanted to bump this forum to the front page lol)! It's raining here and I think it's going to rain for almost the whole next week, but hopefully it will soon be sunny!!!!!!!

Have you booked the wedding? Just in case they do any additional processing after the interview. I'm sure it will all go smoothly though.

We are just going to have the judge marry us on April 20th at 4pm, and then we'll have a reception sometime this summer. It's not like we have put down a down payment or anything. We made an appointment but they told us we can cancel at any time, no penalty.

winifredbee, I really want to buy Josue's ticket too to return with me but we will wait until after he has his visa in hand. Since his interview is on the 13th (one month from today!!), he should hopefully get his visa either that same day or on the 14th, so we have til the 19th to buy his ticket to return with me. Glad to hear Balvino is healthy!!!

Your wedding plan sounds like a good idea. We may do something similar. We just scheduled our interview for the 18th. Sooner than we hoped for...yeah! Balvino is so relieved to have the medical over but his bottom is a little sore:) Wish us luck for the 18th I think we are ready.

Good luck to all! Has that date of the 23rd on the list been fixed yet? It is making crazy.

Nope, it sure hasn't lol! Shoot a PM to Captain Ewok and he'll fix it. We don't need you going crazy! We need you to tell us how the interview goes so we can all prepare ourselves! LOL.

edit: Just wanted to add that poor Josue has a sore bottom too!!! Hopefully they will soon have not-so-sore nalgas lol! Do they use that word in Nica or is that regional?

Ruby, keep your head up! Hopefully it will be coming soon!

I have only been able to briefly talk to Josue since his medical, he said everything went fine. They gave him 5 vaccines, but all in one injection, so they didn't have to stick him a bunch - I guess just once to draw blood and once for the shot. He also got a separate sheet with the vaccines from the doctor so he will have it for AOS in a couple of months. I haven't gotten to talk to him about how much everything cost as he was on public transportation and attempting to tell me in code...I haven't quite gotten that "saying it without actually saying it" code down in Spanish too well just yet lol.

On a sad note, my landlord emailed me today (I live in a basement apartment of a brick house) and said that my dog (a 11 year old mini dachshund I have had since high school) barks a lot when I am not there. It doesn't really bother him, but his 78 year old mother just moved in and it drives her nuts. He asked for suggestions because he said he doesn't want to have to see me go as I am a good tenant. I told him if he could move his cat's litter box upstairs so she wouldn't have to come downstairs he most likely would not bark as much because as he is a hounddog by blood and we have lived there (with the cat coming down to use the litter box) for over a year now, he still barks everytime he smells her. Hopefully he will be OK with that suggestion. If not, I may have to look for a new place - right around the time when Josue is coming. Finding apartments that allow pets is difficult in my area. crying.gif

Well, back to the topic - the Visa Journey! I hope those who are still waiting for NOA2 get it very soon, and that everyone else has a smooth next couple of steps!

Kaye, Congrats! kicking.gif That's wonderful! Can you tell us what kind of questions they asked and if they kept any papers or just looked at them? Thanks!!!

Laura, I'm glad you will have some extra time to adjust. I wish the best for you and Tom, but don't forget us!!!!!

Anne, does Johan have everything ready for the interview tomorrow???

Josue is going for his medical today, he just left on the bus for the capital - he has to hide his money in his socks because it's dangerous wacko.gif It's a little scary but we minimized his trips, he is going today for the medical and to pay the $131 visa fee in the same day, then he doesn't have to go again except to pick me up on the 9th, then on the 13th we go together for the interview, then maybe on the 14th to pick up the visa, and then hopefully for the last time on the 19th to leave with me!!!! Everybody have a great day!!!

Looks like I'm not going to get my interview until at least June/July. Instead of visiting the US for two weeks in April, I'm going for two months now.

Well hey, that's a decent compromise! LOL

Is there anyone with the 2nd NOA received on March who knows if their case reached London Consulate already?

I got my NOA2 on Feb 24th and don't know if it's at the Embassy yet.

My family emailed me a copy of a letter from the Bureau of Consular Affairs stating that the NVC had sent out my case and it should reach the embassy with in a week. It included both case #s and what looks like a bar code. I don't know if they received the NOA2 or not...I will ask. Any one else get a letter like this?

Just talked to my family and its sounds like they do not have my NOA2 yet...very strange.

Yea, this is the letter (I thought) from NVC - I got it last week sometime. That's kinda weird they haven't got the NOA2 yet, you will need it for AOS.
