K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp with my situation
If you can send your forms off from the US and book the medical before changing the flight...I mean, I wouldn't like for you to fly back on the 2nd only to find that you can't get a medical for a few weeks after that :-)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsHelp with my situation
Depends if you want to immigrate/get married sooner for any reason. As you are currently visiting your fiancée you won't be away from her for any longer length of time if you decide to wait.

If you can, you can fill in and return to the Embassy all the forms that are required whilst you are still in the US. You can also phone the doctors and make a medical appointment for soon after you arrive back in the UK. They're unlikely to be able to give you an appointment immediately anyway, so it wouldn't be worth flying back today. If you have your documents all ready (including police certificate) then you can also send in DS-2001 to say you are ready for the interview. You can write your medical appointment date on there. (You can also write that you're not available till after August 28th, although as your medical won't be till after then you probably don't need to write this.) It is possible, though maybe not likely, that they will be able to arrange your interview for soon after your medical if they know when it is, because sometimes they do seem to do this rather than wait till they have the medical results...so it's worth a shot at least.

i understand how you feel. sometimes i just start crying during classes at college, my "friends" avoid me like hell because im not the same person since we started everything. he feels the same, we're very stressed and sometimes fight because this is hard to take. i dont think everyone could keep up with a visa journey, that's why you should know, we, the people on this forum, are much stronger than the rest and we'll be fine as long as we have hope, patience and faith that everything will be ok in the end.

In this case i would have to agree with "Dee and Sam",I would have to say the main purposes of this Community is for us all to have some sort of comradie with each other! After all we ALL going through some sort of Immigration procedure! In the real World, there is that chance the benefit we are seeking wont come to fruition! But in the meantime WE as a Community, main focus and purpose is to lift our fellow members UP! Give them encouragement when needed and to be there for whatever issue comes before them.Yes, we live in the real world and there is that chance it wont happen,BUT a small chance!" lets lift one another UP!!!

yup. but leaveing aside the fact that we are wannabe immigrants right now, we are also human beings, with feelings. better keep the high hope all the way to the end, than going through this process with a bad thought from the beggining. if the dissapointment comes, so be it, we'll get through it, but also maybe that wont come. so whats the point in being realistic and frustrated when we can be dreamy and happy?

and how Einstein says:

Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow!!!

Sorry to put a damper on this guys --but expect the best (3-5 mths ) and prepare for the worst (5-7 mths ) . Dont get your hopes too high .Most of the cases that were approved so quickly were expedites (military deployment, natural disasters, extreme hardships etc) .If you are at VSC--prepare for a long haul .

i disagree. we should all keep eachother's hopes high during this process. it makes time go easier and we can make eachother smile while waitting. i look at my march fellows, how we chat everyday and talk about a lot of stupid stuff and then out of nowhere, one of us gets approved, then another, and without realising, 2 months are over. "prepare for the worst" is the last thing you should tell to a person who's waitting

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI'm whining! I want my NOA2 and I'm a March filer!

well things are much nicer on the other side of the fence right now either . Having an NOA2 is like having a gate in a picket fence in the middle of the yard.... you get to the other side only to find out you are still in the same yard, but no diea where in the yard you are.

I know wiating for NOA2 is hard. I know you just want it. I hop everyone gets their soon and quickly who had been waiting a long time. Taking 6 months or longer to rejoin is just awful. But right now, NVC is worse then molasses in January. Since independence day the whole thing has come to a standstill. or a trickle here and there... Be glad to be waiting for your NOA2. It just means you can actually use 90% of your alootted 16 weeks, versus losing 3 to 5 weeks in post-processing as many are doing right now. Almost 30% or more of post NOA2 is being lost.

I know you wnat, but the line you are coming to is extremely long, and getting longer.... and the front of the line just is not moving yet.

thats very true darren, there will be a lot more complains from people if their petitions are lost in the process. something doesnt smell good about the whole nvc thing these weeks, i barely saw 3-4 people who made it since june

@wallasey girl im a middle march filer, waited almost 1 month for my noa1, got it on 7th april and the harcopy somewhere around 15th april. they started to approve april filers at vsc

Don't whine, be patient. NOA2 is just a step in the process that may take longer than Sept. Filed in January & got the NOA2 in June. Fiancee just received the packet, last week, which involves more info gathering & appointment setting on their end. Originally, we set a 7/30 date - ain't gonna happen. Next I was hoping process would be done by her b'day, August 12 - ain't gonna happen either! So maybe by late Aug or Sept, hopefully. - So don't whine, just whistle & wait!

Not being sarcastic sorry if came across that way. People want to whine as I did. Free and happy for it. I know how it is to wait with no idea.... I am just saying right now is not a good time for NOA2. Something is broke at NVC in processing applications. Right now I feel worse in limbo then before. At least when in waiting for NOA2, I KNEW my application was at the USCIS. Now my application is neither at USCIS or recieved at NVC. Until my applications re-appears somewhere, I have no idea where I am. the sad part is this is true of most CSC people in the last 5 weeks. If you take that in total. That is about 2,500 to 5,000 applications in limbo. I know you want the approval. and I hope it comes soon. I just hope NVC is fixed by the time you get the approval. Don't want to see you sit for another month or longer wondering where the application disappeared to.

no not saying u were sarcastic, we were, not to you, but to some other people. i know what you mean, ive seen a lot of people approved since june that have problems with the nvc. yes something broke there at the beggining of june, first nvc got a break, then vermont did, last week i barely saw some approvals, and its not only the people on VJ. my fiance tried to call uscis, just like that because of curiosity, and i tell u the lines were frozen, in 1 hour he couldnt get anyone on the phone, the lines were completely blocked with calls. i dunno whats going on honestly but i hope they fix both nvc and vsc. im a patient person usually, i know ill only lose my patience around mid august when ill probably start staking people

well, they are processing March filers at VSC. Take the time to go through your paperwork. Verify everything you sent. Look for anything which might give you and RFE so you can be ready. I know it is hard to wait.......It was for me as well. Sad part is I have NOA2 but still not any further along. After NOA2 you spend the next 30 days waiting to schedule. then the next 2 to 4 weeks after scheduling waiting for the interview. Once you have NOZ2, it is a hurry up and wait process. Move from the front of one line, to the back of another line. So be glad you are near the front of USCIS now. Good news is the other lines take less time to go through.

its ok darren, we're all dealing with it, this came more as a pay back sarcasm to some attacks on march filers. even if we have some more to wait for it, vj is surely a place where i made friends that help me and other march filers to go through another day with much joy

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports4 months from NVC to consulate???

I wrote to the consulate in Guangzhou asking if they had received our case from NVC which was mailed on the 22nd and got this infuriating response.

Thank you for your inquiry.

We have received notice that the NVC is sending the case file to the Consulate. We have not yet received the case file. Shipments of case files from the NVC can take four months or longer to arrive in China and clear Chinese customs. We have no control over how quickly case files are cleared by Chinese customs, and long delays are possible. We will send out an instruction package to your beneficiary once we receive the case file. Your patience is appreciated.

Bullsh*t. I lived in China for a lengthy amount of time and it never took more than 7 days to receive anything that was sent to me.

I received an email from NVC in Jan that my case was being sent to Guz. I called Dept of State in March before I went to China to visit my wife. DOS said Guz had received my case by electronic, but my Documents Case was still in Customs, which is their bullcrap code for sitting in the DHL warehouse. April 17, two days before my flight to return to USA, my wife received the Notice from Guz that she had an Interview date of 4 May, turn in documents 3 May. I met up with friends in China, that their case was sent from NVC 6 November, and their Interview Date was 12 April. DOS had gave them the same bullcrap story, "still in Customs".

Hey all! First order of business is a HUGE apology for being out of touch! To say life has been crazy would not even begin, but there is no excuse sad.gif

Thanks to Richard for giving me deserved harrassment smile.gif

It wasn't until I started reading the last (few) pages that I realize how much I miss you guys!!!

Lee, I am really pissed - AP hell - you do not deserve that! I hope it gets cleared up soon!

Richard, I am praying the interview goes smooth and you are back for christmas with wedding plans smile.gif

Liz, CONGRATS!

Maire, what is up with you? I hope all is well!

Dereck, Rich, Gatalou, Igor, everyone else - sorry to be so out of it... I am hoping to do a bit more of keeping in touch!

As for what has been up with me, well, not the wedding I had hoped, but still amazing (because I got to marry Jenny smile.gif ) but we were married on Nov 11 at about 11am (with nods to the vets and the treaty of Versailles)...

Other stuff that has been going on is it looks like my savings (not counting retirement accounts) is getting wiped out due to unethical (but mostly legal) maneuvering by a large mall operator (long story and not unique...pretty much a sad treaty on what is wrong with corporate america).

Also, Jenny & I have had a surprise - she is about 2 1/2 months pregnant! smile.gif She is having a rough time so far, and I have to admit, I am scared $hit1e$$... but also happy (though the $ issues make it more stressful!)

so what is going on with you all?

I've really missed you guys!

Ok... so here ya go...

Spoke to a very polite young woman by the name of Chastity... how could not provide ANY info... other than what is on the website and refused to put in a service request since they are currently processing March 5th files. grrrrrrrrrrrr... Said ok... Chastity, please connect me to the an officer at the USCIS which she was reluctant but ultimately did do.

Spoke to an Officer at the USCIS how asked me a bunch more information... pulled up the file and said that I was still inside the processing time line. I told this officer that according to the press release dated August 6th 2009, at 5 months 1 day that I was within my rights to submit a service request. The officer did not argue and filed a service request and gave me a referral number. After completing the referral, he said that it generally takes 2 weeks for a response and asked if there was anything else he could do. To which I said, sure, if you dont mind me venting.... I went over the appearance of all the April approvals, blah, blah, blah... he didn't have any insight as to why and said that the 5 month time line was in his opinion highly optimist....

Bottom line... I got no real insight but was allowed to enter a service request.

I feel slightly better... but am not holding my breath..

Arabella... CALL them and do the same... smile.gif

I'm glad you feel better and I agree - Arabella, CALL DAMMIT!!

If it takes two weeks for a service request, surely you will have heard something before then, right???? Maybe it's time to start nagging the senators in your state again. This is the most frustrating and aggravating, ulcer causing experience EVER!!!

Um, what exactly do yo usay when you call a senator? I feel pretty intimidated about going that far up the food chain.

Folks, don't feel intimidated - the Senators themselves barely even know you do this. They have aides on staff whose JOB it is to help constituents deal with different (problematic) interactions with the federal government. You will have to file a form giving them permission to do so (basically for privacy protection reasons), then they should make a request to the USCIS. *Usually* they pay attention to these requests and will respond reasonably quickly, but often you get back the same ####### for answers (you are in normal processing time, we are working on your case so wait more, etc). Keep using them to push to get an answer.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsfirst thing that you gona do with your wife when she here in the us
You know its fun to read a post like this. Well my Sweetie likes to see new places. Instead of having her bare the 20 hour flight here I decided to meet her in Hawaii. Easy airport to do POE at too (small). We will meet in Hawaii with some of my family and then get married. Do a little sight seeing, take in a Luau. After wedding (on the beach Hawaiian style) send family members home and then stay a few more days for Honeymoon : ) I'm sure the only time we will be apart will be the morning of the wedding when she is preparing for the wedding. Otherwise it will be hand-in-hand with that slight arm twist to make us even closer together as we walk.

I will take the first few days we arrive home off from work to help her get settled and process AOS and SSN stuff. Show her around town and within the first month go into Washington DC to see the Capital, within about 6 months go to NYC to have her experience real pizza. For all you pizza lovers...you might like your chain pizza place but unless you had pizza in NYC or from someone trained in the ways of making NY Pizza you haven't had real pizza : ). When in NY visit family,

Soon after see arrives we both have agreed to have a couples nite. We both want to take Ball room dancing lessons and really enjoy ourselves learning how to dance. My biggest fear is having her get bored after living a busy life in the Corporate world in Manila. So making sure she doesnt get bored will always be a big focus for me. I want her Happy most of all.

But does anyone know how how our foreign fiances/fiancees will get credit? My fiance has awesome credit in South Africa and the United Kingdom....but does that transfer? Will he have to begin again?

I am also interested in peoples opinions on this question.

I put (based on what the question said): I Intend to provide room and board and full support for him until he is able to legally work in the USA, when then our finances will be joint.

I didn't know what to put there and was just being honest. My fiance, once employed, will make at least twice more than I do, so I thought the answer was ok.

Looking back, I probably should have not said "until". Too late now. :(

Hey Bobby-- we did receive a letter from the NVC it said that they had received our petition and the letter was to let us know that within a week they'd forward it to the consulate they also gave us a case number to use with the consulate .. I'm not sure when this was received, because it was sent to our lawyer, but by the time he had scanned it and sent it to me, our case was already at the consulate.
So I'm sure something will be coming soon to you!

Good luck, we're all almost there!

Ahhhh that's *probably* why I have received nothing from NVC, yet my fiance already received his Packet 3 and sent it back. NVC stuff apparently goes the lawyers....mine which did NOT scan and email to me.....or even let me know at all. Grrrrr

Byron got the Embassy packet 3 today (was sent last Thursday according to DoS).

I think it's funny....London Embassy sends the Packet 3 letter on May 26. On May 26 I fax to my HR in Texas for an employment verification letter. Both UK and USA have postal holidays May 30. On May 31, I receive the complete typed out and signed employment verification letter composed and signed from an HR person in Texas. Byron receives his fully automated Packet 3 from about 5 miles from he lives on June 1. I guess I'm spoiled....but seems so odd to me to receive a letter from nearly the same neighborhood a week later....when I get letters from Texas in 2 days (the physical distance to me is like London - Moscow).

I think the stress of this has really been getting to me. My beautiful wonderful fiance has been getting the brunt of my...I guess it could be called K-1 wrath....when I told him that the Packet 3 had been sent last week, I was wholly hoping and expecting him to finish the paperwork today. He didn't. To be fair, he was really busy at work. But also, I went into work early today to copy and finish his I-134 parcel before I had to get to work. So maybe feeling bitter he didn't do the same when he could have sent it today, rather than tomorrow. I don't know about everyone else here, but every single day counts to me.

Argh anyway, thanks for being a sounding board Decemberites....please every one keep on updating! I think it helps keep more than just me sane

all this time awaiting the triumphant sounding 'Packet 3' and it arrives today.

The whole single side of paper with a link to the embassy website where the forms are! and finding this IV18a for the medical exam is giving me a headache although the woman from the doctors told me it was on the website! i did book my medical though for the 14th june which was the earliest available slot for knightsbridge.

I think i need to look at all this with a fresh head in the morning! starting to wish i had the organisational skills of the rest of you, having all these forms pre-prepared. i personally, at the last minute today, pleaded with my boss to let me borrow her printer prior to my shift this afternoon - and now am undertaking the tedious task of handwriting all of the forms. happy happy joy joy

My fiance is going through the London consulate too, his medical is booked for June 8, and he found the IV18a form here:

http://london.usemba...xamination.html

on the right hand side there is link under The Medical Examination that brings you to the form:

In case you hadn't found it yet, hope this helps!! :)

@Mari: "I was so stressed, first I bit him... then I told him, "you better hurry up because next interview is in December and I'll go marry an Italian".... and the fone went beeeeeeeeeeeeep.... signal over. "

Well I had to laugh at that, because once I joked to Byron that after all this....my second husband will be American.   He didn't find that as amusing as me... :hehe:

Called NVC today and spoke to a real person. I called last week and a real person said our case had arrived the day before (May 18) and received the NVC number LNDxxxxxxx. I have called umpteen billion times the automated number, and to this day "no record" our USCIS or NVC numbers. Finally called to speak to a real person again today....and found out our case was sent to the Embassy May 19, the day after it was received. Called the automated portion again to check.....it still says "no record" of either of our receipt/case numbers!! So lesson learned - speak to a real person. Of course I've seen other posts here where you *did* speak to someone who told you one thing....then you receive an email or usps letter saying different. I personally think it's all completely FUBAR. Anyway, based on DHL tracking, London consulate signed for our case yesterday, May 23. So hopefully Byron will receive the Packet 3 soon. He already has everything ready to go, including a medical booked June 8. Fingers crossed, for ALL of you as well as us....

BIG-SMOOOCH to all my Decemberite friends!!

Dizzy, when I saw your post....my heart dropped. Been thinking about how crazy...absolutely flippin' crazy...I would be if that happened to me. I am so sorry....and I am keeping my fingers crossed for you...(and the rest of you waiting as well!)

lol i already paid him so theres no point in getting rid of him now... i didn't want to pay but I thought I was doing the right thing, I figured it would be in my best interest to pay so that things went smoothly.. I was wrong but oh well.

I think getting an attorney was a smart move on our part. We can afford it, and she will make sure all the forms are filled out correctly, mail everything, if something (god forbid) were to go wrong she'd handle it. There is *so* much involved with this process, and I am a government contractor so I know that if something can go wrong, it most likely will (a little tongue-in-cheek humor there). Byron & I just feel better knowing there is a professional taking care of everything we don't have to ourselves. I use this site (and particularly, this forum) for support and information, but ultimately, if I had to do ALL the research myself, I'd go nuts wondering "what if I did this wrong? what if I missed something?". Having an attorney just gives me peace of mind I guess.. :P
