Poor guy. Poor me as well. We have to go through all these ####### but it's all worth it if you wish to be with the one you love. Anyway, stamps are not that expensive for them to charge him that much.

I'll ask him again. I don't think it was just for the translation but to pick the certificate up, have it stamped here, then go there, then have it translated, then have it restamped, etc. I know it added up to more than like 20 EG pounds for sure. That's why his eyes popped out of his head when I told him he had to get all the other documents (birth cert., police records, etc.) translated too!

Oh no need to ask...he already did that part. I was just curious why the fees were so different than what he stated. His was over $100 EG pounds for the marriage cert. translation. Thanks for this info!


No, they only translate birth, death and vaccination certificate cause it's related to health and population system. Not sure where you can translate marriage certificate though. I still need to get my police certificate recorded tomorrow, so I will ask there for you and get back to you on this one. :)

First you get a computerized birth certificate in Arabic from the Civil Register and take the Arabic birth certificate and go to the Ministry of Health and Population (Located on Magles Al Shaab St.Kasr Alaini. Phone: 202-355-7046 or 202-354-1507 or 202-354-0596. Fax: 202-355-3966 or 202-355-9422. Website: http://www.misrnet.idsc.gov.eg).

When you arrive there as walk into the ministry's garden, there's this green gate you walk to through two white buildings until you reach the gate and on the right side to it you enter a building where the translation section of Ministry of Health and Population is on the 2nd / second. The office room is on the left side being the third room before you end a line of office rooms. In there, you speak to any of the workers about wanting to translate your birthday certification paper. They will hand you a paper that you have to take to a place called "El Tobgy Translation Office" which is located on 36 Khayrat St., Lazoughly square. The translation fees were 6 L.E. is what I paid to get my birth certificate translated into English. Neither did it take that long to get it done. (Take your passport with you just for them to check on how to spell your name in English based on how it's spelled in English in your passport).

The translator's name was Mr. Samir who had a great sense of humor and was also a gentle man. He seemed quite knowledgeable to give you directions where to go if for example you need to translate a Police Certificate then that would have to be translated from The Ministry of Justice on the 13th floor. (Address: Magles El Saeb St. Wezaret Al Adl-Cairo. Tel.: 202-792-2263/5/7/9. Fax: 202-795-8103. E-mail: mojeb@idsc.gov.eg).

After you're done with the translation, you take the English birth certificate and stop by any small stationery where they should have a xerox copy machine and xerox copy both Arabic and English (the translated) certificates. Also, a copy of your national personal ID is a must as required by the Minister of Healthy and Population. You will also need to buy one of each 90 Piasters and 10 Piasters stamp (they usually go like "buy a 1 L.E. stamp from the post office).

There are those tea sellers at the Minister of Health and Population who do sell them as well and you can tip them with like an extra 50 Piasters or so. Just do NOT follow anyone there who may offer to help you with the translation issue or tell you they know a place or whatsoever BECAUSE it has to be done from the place mentioned above which is related to the Minister of Health and Population.

I had a guy came on my way asking if I wanted any help to get my birth certificate translated or even want to buy stamps! As I smelled scam coming from him, I just said "no thanks (la' shukran) and walked a way continuing my trip to the translation office I was advised to go to. After your visit to the translation place and having xerox copies of both Arabic and English certificate. Also your national personal ID, you have to go back to where you started from which is the office on the second floor and there they will look at the translated page, sign it, notarize it, stamp it with the eagle stamp then give it back to you after they take the xerox copies you made of the Arabic and English birth certificate and also the copy of your national personal ID then they will ask you to go to the National Information Center for Health and Population building where you have to give a quick visit to Mr. Mohammed Maghraby who puts the final signature on your English birth certificate paper. (the building is on your way out to the right).

To end with this, you will still have to take the English birth certificate and head to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to notarize it there. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located on Gamet El Dowal St. A taxi ride from Tahrir square shouldn't be more than 5 L.E. for the 10-15 minutes ride. It might take longer depends on how busy the traffic is.

Make sure you get things done early enough.

To get your Police Certificate translated, you will have to go to The Ministry of Justice on the 13th floor (Address: Magles El Saeb St. Wezaret Al Adl-Cairo. Tel.: 202-792-2263/5/7/9. Fax: 202-795-8103. E-mail: mojeb@idsc.gov.eg).

Translation fees are 10 / ten L.E. Then you take the translated paper and go to the 14th floor to notarize it from there and that shouldn't cost more than 3.50 L.E. Then to the ministry of foreign affairs where you will have to notarize it again. You must notarize both Arabic and English police certificates and the whole cost shouldn't be more than 22 L.E. 11 L.E. for each certificate.

The didn't really ask me for any xerox copies of my passport, ID, etc...

Long form birth certificate, well, the one with your parents names on it. Apparently there is something that just certifies that there is a certificate, you don't want that, but I think the long form is generally the default given anyway.

 

You don't really need new evidence of relationship, just a new letter of intent from your fiance if your interview is after the NOA2 expiration date.

 

Um the other thing you will have to do eventually is the medical, and before that you should make sure your vaccines are up to date. Really is simpler to get all that done with before your UK medical, instead of having loose ends to tie up once you are in the US adjusting status! But as you're in the US right now that's something you can think about once you arrive back in the UK.

there's no real way of surviving the k1 process, just because if you take your mind off it for 1 day, you'll be frustrated and depressed the other day. so is like 1 bad 1 good no matter what you do. as for me, i draw a lot to make everyday pass. when i get really depressed and cant get over it i drink a beer and watch a movie, cry 1 hour and im back to normal. it really depends on everyone's personality.

sam mailed all the documents i need for the interview last saturday from virginia. i got a tracking number, but it hasnt been updated since then on usps website. i know nothing about where it might be and i MUST get it by friday since my interview is next week and no way in hell i can go there without the affidavit of support and other supporting documents and proofs he mailed. i got mails from him and never had any problem tracking or getting them. and now with the hurricane it creeps me out. did anyone have problems with the mail this week or last week? cause im starting to get paranoid

just hoping for the visa next week. Want to bring mahal ko back with me. Time is of hte essence. At least we know things are going forward now.... and mahal ko has been so patient so far. Hang in there. I have been frustrated, aggravated, and totally mad beyond belief at the lack of information or communication in progress. This is one of the most broken cogs in the wheel where only you can keep the pressure on. The worst part is it is such a small section that people go away and the pressure is not kept on to fix things. Rest assured. I am working on how to fix things for all. I was the one person who they could have gotten to go away quickly had they done things expediently. Now I am around for a while....

actually here in romania you leave the embassy with the visa in hand. have to wait for it 1 hour or so. never heard of any problems around, read all reviews. and i WILL pass my interview cause i have a strong faith in my relationship, all the proofs required, nothing to hide, and of course, confidence :dance: still, the time to buy me a plane ticket is still in negotiations lol. the problem he was worried about was the one way or round trip. i can say he was really bugged about it :/

ok so after an exhausting day i'll make this review for all the people interested. first of all i want to thank the people who supported me and made me smile during this process: jan, carol, nema, thea, georgina, tim/mav, looky, rachel, meghan, jaqueline, nicolette, anca, nicole, ray, and of course my future husband sam. i appreciate every smile you gave me along the way.

an advice i would give to every person having their interview in future is, SMILE!!. dont get in that building looking down and shaking, looking freaked out. you'll lower your chances. smile with all the power you have. take the freedom to JOKE with the officers. remember those people work for hours in that building, they might be kinda sick of seeing plain faces dont you think? be nice, confident, and joyful. everyone likes a person that spreads positive energy everywhere. while waitting, dont act impatient, use all your strenght to stay calm, dont walk around like crazy, dont act exasperated, they actually watch you from the office.

this is what happened today at the embassy in bucharest.

my plane was late for 40 minutes. i thought ill be late, took a cab and got at the embassy around 12:30 (my interview was at 1). went at security door, the guy inside was like "miss diana p. right?" , me: how u know that?.. (he was just a guardian). he said he gets phone calls. told me to walk around until 1 , so i did. i was bored so i socialized a bit with the guardians around the embassy until it was time. at 1:00pm, i go in, they take everything except my binder, medical, passport, photo album and sent me to another section of the building full of offices. the waitting room was EMPTY!! i was the only one in there. me and a guardian. after 1 minute i was called at window 1 by a romanian woman, a bit bored, she asked me for everything, even the photo album. told me to wait. after 3-4 minutes i was called at window 6 by an afro-american guy, around 30 of age, super cute LOL. he took my fingerprints with the scanner and joked around with me for having shaky hands. i had a small paper cut, he pretended he didnt see it (even if he did). after that i was called at window 13 (i think) to pay the visa, i think she was american, super nice. went back to window 1 to give her the proof that i payed. she told me to wait. while waitting for my actual interview i looked on the window in their office. they had a HUGEEEEEEEEE pile of documents, with my name on it, and my pictures. theres no way in hell we sent so much stuff. dunno what was in there, but it honestly freaked me out a bit. anyway after like 20 minutes of waitting, there was a guy about 40-50, super nice, with some big blue eyes. he made me swear everything i say is true and that ill get married within 90 days of my arrival into the US. i raised my hand i said is true and i swear to get married at the end of the month. he laughed so good at me. here's the conversation
him: heyyyyyyyy (like he knew me for years)
me: hiiiiii :D
him: how are ya?
me: very good thank you. im kinda fascinated by the building
him: actually this is the first interview i take in this new building (sneaky smile)
me: awsome, jope ill be the one to bring the first good luck

me: yessssss. i cant wait to live in a quiet place for once, since i grew up in the countryside

me: on internet *laughs* but of course he asked me again when he visited me. and the ring *shows him the ring* i got it in 8th march :D

me: well, i had a crush on him, he had a crush on me. we never told eachother. in 2010 he told me to break up with my boyfriend and that he loved me. so we got togheter.

well u imagine i started to jump around ask him if he's serious he said i look insanely happy

after that, i waited around 20 minutes for my visa to be printed and for my yellow envelope. i got in the embassy at 1 and got out at 2:30


now, important stuff to know for romanians who have interviews. the embassy moved close to metro and baneasa shopping center. for those of you who are not from bucharest, like me, you can take a taxi from the airport but NOT from the entrance. ALWAYS look on the door of the car where the price is posted. the ones in front of the airport at 3.5lei (super expensive). go out, go to the highway and you'll find cabs with 1.39 lei. from otopeni to embassy i payd 12 lei. dont tell them the street cause they wont know, tell them to take you at the embassy in baneasa, they will know. also dont bring more than 1 backpack with you, they wont have place for them, i had that problem.

hope this was hopeful. i'll be flying to america this friday night :) and sorry for the typos and all that, but im awake for 24 hours

I know I should of not made that VJ timeline... because now I'm really worried on why my NOA2 (NOA1 on April 26, 2011. Timeline states my NOA2 should arrive on August 23 to September 5) has taken so long to process while I've seen late May filers received their NOA2 from Vermont Service Center (Just think it's also unfair how California Service Center filers always seem to get their approvals within a few short months, while VSC filers end up waiting 4 months or more. Should all be consistent, but guess not.)

Anyway, I check my status at least a million times a day. I signed up for email and text notification, etc. I even called the 1800 number a million times just to hear my case status tell me that I received my NOA1 on April 26, 2011. I even called 202-663-1225 and the guy just stated that my case is still in initial review and that only approved petitions are suppose to call this number and that to call USCIS for case updates.

Should I call my Congressman to help speed things up, if it's even possible or just waste of time at this point of time? Should I try to get an live operator on the phone when I call USCIS to inquire on my NOA2 or will they simply just tell me that processing times are 5 months and I should wait till 5 months is over to call them again or have a stroke... whatever comes first.

I know I maybe over worrying and probably look dumb if my NOA2 arrived tomorrow, but man this visa process is so freaking stressful! I feel your pain to all who are still waiting on their NOA2 after their timeline dates passed.


this process is horrible indeed, because your life is put on stand-by. but the timeline is not as accurate as you think. CSC approves people faster cause they have less petitions. now, noa2 can vary from 2 months to 9 months (seen a lot of cases) after noa1. calling uscis often might put you on a black list. i advise you to just wait, cause theres nothing you can do about it. when you reached your 6 months wait and still no noa2, only after that you can call uscis.

felicitari!!! :D my packet got there in 2 days so dont worry about it. and got the packet 3 in 6 days including weekend. everything is very fast there and they wait time for the interview is around 1-2 weeks. very fast

yes that is true. however, me and my fiance mostly spent time togheter alone. im not close to my family, we've been to my place few times but there were no pictures. the ones that manage to have pictures with the non usc family are lucky. we're not antisocial lol, just like to keep all the time for ourselves, yes selfish i know :P

heh forgot to post here damn. i was so out of space X_X yup, we got approved on 27th! seems the vsc approvals wish really worked for me. and this was pure luck at vsc, 3 months and a half since noa1. i really didnt expect it so soon. so next week, ill start stalking nvc instead mwhahahahahaaaa

monday to friday , i think they work until 5pm, 5 days a week....soooooo yeah it sux. thats why on weekend we take 2 days off from checking, then on monday we become stalkers again ! :D yay
