IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures2 part question
You must travel to the US before Jan 3rd 2013. When you arrive they will stamp your visa and it will be a temporary green card valid for one year from when you enter. You should receive the real green card before that year is up :-)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGetting a jab
If it's less than a month since you got the MMR you shouldn't need to get it at the medical and your medical will be cleared :-)

Ask your GP about getting a second shot. He probably will say one is sufficient. From my understanding the second shot is mainly to provide measles immunity to the 5% of people who didn't get it after their first shot. It is not in fact a "booster".

Ditto what cathy2904 said. We filed less than a month after being married. We sent three affidavits (very brief!) and a boat insurance document that happened to have both our names on. :-)

I know I received the DS3032 in the UK after we had already received and sent it off in the US. Doesn't really matter if you never receive it at all :-)

It was three years ago when I went through the process, but everything was done via email after that point :-)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI - 130/G-325 A Question
List all your addresses from the past five years.

Then, list your most recent address abroad where you lived for more than a year.

I know it can seem confusing because you are repeating some of the same information, but it is because the form is also used by people who have lived in the US for the past five years so in their case the second question would elicit new information :-)

That's interesting "visiting fiancee" they didn't question you about marriage? Or if u intended to get married? Anyway the bottom line is we do have our options and we will make a decision. Thank you

I visited my fiance as a fiance twice, the first time the officer just jokingly asked if he was invited to my wedding, but on the second occasion (the time I got married) I think they just stamped my passport and waved me on. So it can be easy, sometimes.

I married in the US whilst on the Visa Waiver Program. Then we applied for CR-1.
At POE I gave my purpose as "visiting fiance". This was true; that was my primary purpose and the wedding was secondary.

You'll just have to weigh up all your options and make a decision. It's sad that this process has to be so uncertain and take so much time and money. But, compared to the rest of your lives, it will be but a short time until you are married and living together :-)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 Visa Worth it?
Which country are you in? I assume not one with a USCIS Field Office?

Firstly, file that I-130 before you spend more precious time thinking about the K-3!

Processing times can change radically from month to month, so you don't want to base too much on the timelines.

Just checking, have you checked you have the assets, income, or sponsor required for the affidavit of support?
JoannaVFemaleUnited Kingdom2012-11-19 17:07:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresJoint Sponsor, already sponsored someone else...
Nope, he just has to make sure he includes that person in his household size. Is he still in contact with the person? If they abandoned their green card and returned to their home country, or obtained US citizenship, he will not have to count them.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresEntering US on a tourist visa
I visited my husband twice after we were married. The first time I visited for almost 90 days, and it was on that trip that we filed the I-130. The second time was for 6 weeks, after being back in the UK for 5 weeks. I never had to show anything other than my return ticket, though it is good to have other evidence with you just in case. The risk of being denied entry in your situation is low, so I would not call it "risky", however it is something that could indeed happen.
How long are planning on visiting for?

Read the Atlanta POE reviews yes.gif

The actual processing does not take long at all. However what varies is the time you have to wait. When I arrived I think maybe it was lunchtime, so there was only one person working and they first had to deal with something else.

Hi! I've been reading posts here, but it's my first time to post. Visa Journey has helped me all throughout my application.

I had my AOS interview today and thank God, I was approved. The interview lasted for 30 minutes. Me and my husband were both interviewed. The interviewer asks us about how we met, the wedding and some facts from the application form that we had submitted. It's easy, just be prepared with all the documentations. I hope everyone will also have their approval soon! Thank you Visa Journey ... smile.gif

QUOTE (txladykat @ Jan 18 2009, 06:47 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband was divorced almost 20 years ago. We have tried to get a certified copy of his divorce decree from the courts in Denmark, but they tell him they don't have it and can't provide it. What do we do if we can't provide a certified (or even plain copy for that matter) of his divorce decree? Obviously we were free to marry or they wouldn't have let us marry here in Denmark.

Does he remeber the city court where he got divorce?

If they cant provided it, he should get the Certify Letter from the court of Denmark saying they lost it and cant find it.

You should get in contact with the USCIS abt this. call and ask. There shall be an answer/ answers

GOOD LUCK

We already filed the I-130, and tomorrow is the interview. We have a certified copy and translation of the marriage certificate, but I just want to make sure that that's all they mean by "Proof of Relationship." We've already given them pictures and copies of e-mails and letters and stuff for I-130 petition last October.

ic. then just bring some emails, letters, some photos as back up.

Don't worry, u'll do fine. They probably ask basic questions. how u met, where u met, . just chill

Ok, so the last thing on the "Immigrant Visa Checklist" in the U.S. Embassy website for Tokyo is "Proof of Relationship." The description reads:

Beneficiaries of family-sponsored petitions must also include:

Proof of Relationship: Please provide all original documents used to establish the qualifying family relationship.

Are they just talking about the marriage certificate? Or do we have to show more "proof" of our relationship, i.e. letters, pictures, etc. We've already shown them all that stuff for I-130 petition, so I *think* they just mean the marriage certificate.

Anyone know?

This comes directly from passport office in Bogota, Colombia. Colombia sucks!!!

I am assembling the I-130 package and was wondering about a few things.

Do I write on the cover letter that the petition is for the I-130 to obtain a CR1 Visa? No you dont need to.
The I-129 example form shows similar wording to that.

Should I write our names across the top of each form and document included? No u dont have to.

What is the best way to send photographs? you can put passport photos inside the clear Zip lock bag .
I don't want to just put them in there loose.

Thanks, this site has been an enormous help,

I got the Single Certificate here in the US. I followed all the steps of making the document, have notarized, sent to State Gov, and sent to Federal Dept of State. Took a couple of months to get. This
finished document is only good 6 months. By the time I got to China it was out of date. My girl and
I took the train to the Chengdu Consulate, got a new Single Document in a few minutes, no problem. Train

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI'm lost to how long things will be and what the next process is

I know it's hard to understand but all that happened is when I filed the I-130 I also applied for his citizenship along with it not thinking that I should've waited to apply after he comes here. So I sent all the papers in all at once. I received my NAO1 for the I-130. I only sent in the 420$ that was required for the I-130. (Thank god) I will definately be calling the USCIS again today and explaining again what happened and will take further action. They said everything is in good standing with my case still and is still in progress. I would hate for this all to be a waste after all the waiting and work him and I did just to be together. :(. Thanks for the feedback :)

Adjusment of Status (I-485) is not the same as citizenship (N-400). You won't even need to do the I-485 after he comes - he will be a green card holder upon arrival (actual card should come in the mail soon after arrival). I know it's hard to get all the terminology straight, but try to work on getting it down and being consistent with how you talk about your application. It will help you AND help those trying to offer advice.

Before the NVC can continue processing this immigrant visa petition, you must pay the Affidavit of Support (AOS) fee $70.

Is this bogus????

And they also said I have to fill out the form about INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHOICE OF AGENT AND ADDRESS FORM.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to deal with this waiting journey?
hello,

I just want everyone to know..I am lonely and every single day, it makes me feel sad that seeing my brother and his wife now who used to be his fiance they got married last month..My brother petitioned her as fiance visa and at the same time, I petitioned my husband which is Aug.2007 last year..Now all their papers being an immigrant is coming to our house in a speedy phase while I watch them being happy, I know I should be happy for them, but I cant help myself but be jealous about it because I am still here waiting for my husband while all the fiance' petitions are getting approved even in weeks.. I go through finding a job so I could also file my affidavit of support for my husband.. I don't want to be greedy but it is very unfair how fiance visa is so fast than petitioning for spouse visa..
Most of the time, I just close my eyes, everything has been very difficult especially my mom nagging at home and she even acts like she is not in favor of my marriage and she also seem like she is not in favor of me petitioning for my husband..

I hope we can all get through this..

Hi, Guys

Wondering, living in a world where couples have difficult to deal with distant, individuality and long -term relationships... Where people are unable to accept the other´s needs of individuality and, why not, their own space and time to themselves... what make us, who are able to face and fight for this Visa journey, wait so long and believe that after the end of all of it, IT WILL WORKOUT ?

Another questions, my relationship is lasting for over 5 years, 3 years living apart. During this "apart" life... How do you live? do u have a normal life working, going to school... living day by day without thinking in future.... without planning.... avoiding dream too much.... How is the routine for all of you?

In my case, I spend 3 years taking my life normally in Brazil... grabbing opportunities like jobs, school educations,.. working out...exploring new things... but I never felt like going out to clubs, short or long tripps with friends... It was crazy but easy, because I focused on my job and education. My planns were straightly to business and academical schedules and national and international trips with my husband who I saw every other month, for maximum of 10 days each.

Basically, I gave up on pressuring my husband full time attention... his full time space... I honestly set his mind free, projecting a day where, after getting done with my dreams, we could be ready to be together for life, with no fear.

And you? How is to deal with this unusual relationship or lifestyle?

Well, I know and I have a great faith that out of all this sacrifices,is a big reward..and my happiest moment would be for my husband to come here in the u.s. with me and live with him like we always dreamed of..I am saving up still for his upcoming interview expenses and Plane Ticket..

Good luck to all especially to young couples like us who have hopes and dreams ahead of us..and love is the answer..

I want to know how long it has been for everyone to be separated from their spouses. This whole process is rediculous of making us be separate for so long. I have been apart from my husband now for 4 months and do not know when I will go back to Morocco. How is everyone else dealing and coping?
