Thanks Marlita for bringing that up...you are totally right...I read over the instructions for the immigrant visa application on travel.stat.gov website...here is an excerpt:

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

Lucky thing I read this before going to the post office..... good.gif

so we DO need the original AND the copy..thats so strange
hahah thanks - I did know what they stood for I just was confused by needing the original AND a copy..
hahah aI dont even know why I am stressing about it b/c I am still at VSC crying.gif

You need to send the originals to NVC along with a photocopy. As far as the PC second copy just have your husband hold on to it for the interview. he need only send you the original PC and you will photocopy that and send to the NVC also.

Lita.... how it goes?

Learn from my mistakes. On line #20 of the Ds-230 in the section for from/to for his last address, did you or him handwrite "present" and also in the work history part?

Ask any questions you have right now and I can try to answer them.

YOu know that "present" thing has got alot of people I've read. Also the 2 passport photos, before it was well known to send those in. I forgot to write my husbands name on back of his photos....I wrote the stupid case number twice but not his name. I would think that if they look up the case number they will find his name....I swear...if I get an RFE for that stupid #######...I might.....

Make sure when you submit the police certificate, it is the top copy that is considered the original. Mike's interview was done today and pending approval after submission of the original PC. I have it in my possession.

but the NVC needs an original AND you need one at the interview? but BOTH copies arent considered original??
Im so confused.

It confused me too. If you look at them it is hard to know the difference. What they did was put two pieces of paper together with a carbon between them and typed with a typewriter, then they attached the picture and put the police seal over the picture. So if you are not careful you could mix them up. Just send the one that is on top and bring the other with you to the interview just in case cause you never know with these people. Tonya sent in the original and they asked for the other copy at her interview. I just want someone to learn from my mistake.

Shrewdie, everytime I see your post my heart jumps becaus I so want you to get the darn NOA-2.

The best and fastest way is either DHL or Fed-Ex. Do not put it into the Ja mail system. It is a nightmare. It is best to pay the money and be sure you are going to get it than stress out over it not arriving on time. It cost Mike about Ja$2000 to send me DHL envelope.

Ok All,

I'm at NVC and all I can say is this part of the process is lightening fast compared to USCIS. Especially for those of us who had this ridiculous wait just to get NOA1. So for all you who are getting ready for your NOA2, please start reading up on your NVC journey cause its alot of stuff to prepare and the requests for it can come around so fast you may not be ready. Thus slowing down your NVC processing time.

Good Luck!!

I'm planning to do the email thing too...setting one up under my hubby name...he lives in the bushes too...LOL... I found another thing interesting about how NVC assigns case #(thought I would share it)
3 letters=embassy
first 4#s = year
next 3 = subtract 500 and that is the day of the year when the case was assigned (ex.724-500=224th day on calendar = 08.13)
the last couple of digits = how many petitions they received for that embassy on that day they entered it in the system(ex. 029=your the 29 petition they received for KNG)
The only thing I'm not sure about that is if they mean all petitions like CR-1, K-1s etc...or per specific petition.
Just a little knowledge I would like to share. good.gif I hope everyone has a speedy NVC experience because USCIS was sure not. whistling.gif

hey guys. you may have already known this..but if you filed taxes jointly with your spouse and they dont live here yet and/or you used an ITIN then we are NOT elig. for the economic stimulus payment..BOO

You know, I read that on turbotax, but I havent even filed my taxes yet.....I really need to get on that. But I'm wondering if i can truly claim my husband as an exemption if he doesnt live here. Turbo tax let me file him as an exemption but also wanted me to enter a SSN. i just skippen SSN and wrote in non-resident alien. hmmm. Well i won't use the ITIN now.

yeah. we filed and i sent it in with the w-7 and then they filed it from there with the itin
the itin comes in handy for stuff like adding to a checking acct. and stuff.
i also read that if you filed with an itin and dont get the stimulus then you can claim that deduction on taxes next year..(assuming your SO is here by that point..I am beginning to doubt)

Your right Claire. Kingston embassy just conducts the interview and reviews medical and such. Why it STILL takes so long for an interview is beyond me. NVC is the one scheduling it so unless Kingston is telling NVC to hold off on scheduling interviews, something is really out of wack here.

Anyway Shrewdie, yes like Claire said the DS3032 and AOS fee bill is the 1st thing to prepare for the NVC. The DS230 is the LAST thing usually.

For DS3032 please think about having your spouse email it as soon as you hear on the NVC automated line(603-334-0700). This will save at least a weeks time. Otherwise have a signed copy from your spouse ready to go as soon as you hear the generated message.
My husband emailed them at NVCInquiry@state.gov

Dear Sir or Madam,
> My name is (beneficiary full name), my visa case number is #KNG2008------
> Per the DS-3032, I would like to appoint my
> wife as my agent of choice to receive all the correspondence from NVC.
> Her name and address is:
> (Petitioner name)
> DOB
> street address
> city, state zip
> ......
> All mail from the U.S. Department of State concerning my immigration visa
> application should be sent to the address above. Thank you for your help.
>
> Sincerely yours,
> (beneficiary name)
> <KNG2008------>
> DOB

Please title your email: NVC Case Number:KNG2008------ - (beneficiary full name)

This has worked for many people. The NVC will send you an automated message confirming the receipt of email and within a week will send another email confirming acceptance (or not) of your DS3032. I would still have a signed copy of a DS3032 just in case you need to mail it in.

Thats awesome Lita.. I didnt know..

Shrewdie;

I think the first document that you process with the NVC is the DS-3032 (choice of agent form) and the AOS (affidavit of support) fee bill of $70. After these are completed you will get the visa fee bill ($400) and after those are processed it will generate the DS-230 and the AOS packet. Barring any RFE your case should be completed with them and then they will schedule your interview and forward your case to the embassy and send you, your hubby and agent the interview letter.

Good luck!

Hey Bailey! Girl I forgot you just got your NOA2!! Woo Hoo....you're on your way. Your about a couple steps behind me as far as your timeline tells.

Well as far as the K3 vs CR1 visa....I think many people will tell you to go CR1 if you are at this stage now. The only problem is since the new fee hike back in July 2007, the K3 visa route didnt have an additional fee payment. So the idea is that once you submit that I-129F to apply for K3 you cannot go back to CR1. USCIS is supposed to forward only your K3 (I-129F) approved application and save your CR1 (I-130) application for when your husband arrives and decides to adjust status. I have heard that some people are still having both their I-130 processed at NVC while their K3 visa moves on to the Embassy.

I would strongly suggest you do the CR1 if still possible. You can call the NVC once you get a KNG# and ask if your CR1 visa is still being processed and that you want to abandon the K3. The reason I encourage the CR1 is because its not that far behind the K3 and in the end you will be DONE for 2 years. With the K3 you will have to file AOS within 90 days and that fee is $1010 or so! The CR1 has fees in total of $470 during the NVC process. Your K3 will also have fees during the NVC/Embassy stage...same as every other visa. That includes police certificate...medical...and another visa fee of $100. Its just a really expensive and time consuming visa and I estimate that you may be approved only 2 months earlier than the CR1 would....if that.

So if you want to rid yourself of immigration for awhile especially after your husband arrives CR1 is best. If 2 months means more to you then stay with the K3.

I can tell that your NOA2's came really late because you filed an I-129F a good 3 months after you filed your I-130. Filing for that K3 actually hurt you because it put you in the October priority dates instead of July. This is why I think your CR1 will be approved around the same time as your K3 making the K3 not the best choice right now.

Hey Lita!!
THANK YOU
so the next document I need to prepare is the DS-230? so when I get to NVC that is the first thing I send off? no? SCREAM.

A packet of information and documents was generated on (Date) and wil be mailed within next few weeks

So, I believe the above message is for DS-230. Is this message going to be changed to the one you have ?? I am sort of confused here!!

I had the same message , already 4 weeks ago, but never received the 864 package also. I wonder like you if this message is for the DS-230. Maybe somebody has an idea.

This messaeg is for DS-230 generation and NOT for I-864. For I-864, you need to talk to the operator. And it should not take that long. Are you in Germany or in the US??

I am in Germany. When the message is for the DS 230 whats going on than with the I 864.I called the NVC and talked to a lady . She sad that the Ds 230 and I 864 were sendet out on sep. 17. But that cannot be, or. Is it not the way that the AOS comes first. And what is with the fee.I am so confused.

On another note, hubby and I are doing GREAT and to all you ladies still waiting... KEEP YOUR CHIN UP!!

I make good money, but my expenses are high and most months it is paycheck to paycheck. I was saving 100 a month for the K1 and was ok there... I guess if I keep up the $100 a month savings we will be okay...

I am just freaking about the money...

no, it isnt!
Somehow we always had the money, God will provide!

Shrewdgal, stuff comes on at a certain time on tvJ. You can look at the schedule for days in advance, though. So I know tonight to watch the results from Rising Stars at 8:30pm.

Thanks so much!!!!

... Another thing my friends and I use to do back in the day was go to dry cleaners and asked if they had any plus size clothing that people didn't pick up and if they're willing to sell it to us...the designer suits we were sporting were until. I paid anywhere from $10 - $20 per suit. They were just glad to get rid of them.

Never heard of this before, but that's a great idea!

Just got off the phone with VSC. The lady said my case has been assigned to an officer. I asked how long officers usually take to work their cases. She said she can't give me a timeline. I asked if "officer" meant the same thing as "adjudicator" and she said that all she can say is that it is with a USCIS officer. If I don't hear anything in 30 days, call back. What about 30 minutes? LOL

gosh, I remember those days
Hang in there! It will come..eventually.....even if it does take a year crying.gif

Yay! I got to watch Rising Stars. It cut off when they were showing the Top 10 at the end & giving the numbers to call/text to vote. But God was looking out for me, cause it cut off in the middle of #7. Steven's sister was #6 (vote! 876-444-5506). Turns out she's performing as Princess Tiana now (previously performed under the name Princess Tia).

The video from TVJ comes across clearly, but the audio could use a lot of improvement.

Edited To Add: What's up with death announcements coming on TV in Jamaica??? This would be depressing.

hahahaha I remember the first full summer I stayed in Jamaica this weirded me out so much..but by the end of the summer we were paying attention for a running tally for how many grandkids some of the people had. one lady had about 98 or something crazy. no lie

I have a Q. If you get TVJ on the net, can you watch shows anytime? or do you have to be watching at 8 pm if it comes on at 8 pm??

Hi everyone. Hearing about that 600+ lb man who lost 400+ lbs and seeing Shrewdgal's posts about the two people with heart attacks definitely motivated me today! I spent 40 min in the gym watching this movie on my iPod: The Other End of the Line. It's about an Indian woman working in a call center (where they pretend to be Americans in US cities) who likes one of her clients and up & flies to San Francisco to visit.

I'm mad that they acted like a person can just spontaneously hop on a plane and visit the USA. I'm 99% sure she needed a visa to visit from India.

Oh. I'll pass on to Tia your well-wishes. Thanks.

Way to go! good.gif

Digicel updated their Rising Stars webpage! You can see Week 1 performances here: http://www.digicelja...media/week1.php
Now I just have to figure out how to download the videos of Princess Tia.

My2, That sucks that the insurance didn't pay for the eyecare. I know that can be expensive.

Shrewdgal, I clicked that link Ells posted (onestopplus.com) and saw trampolines for $99. I never thought about getting a small indoor trampoline before, but that might be a fun way to work out (more fun than walking; can be done while watching tv). I'm gonna look into that.

oh and i must say thanks for the suggestions for where to stay in mobay.....me and richard ended up staying at the glorianna inn last month and we were pleasantly impressed......it was not a 5 star hotel but i was cheap, clean, convenient location, great staff, etc and we are planning to stay there again next month when me and my mom take the babies down for fathers day and their birthday next month......the only down fall is that its not so close to ochi and i didnt get to see anyone last time i visited......i think we are going to take one day this trip and spend the day in ochi so the family can see the babies

Yankeesgirl - The Hotel Gloriana - When my auntie got married last year some of my family stayed there so I’m a little familiar with it. I thought it was a little too far walking back at night from M’ville (and then they walked back one night from Pier One) but it was a lot of us so it was ok. Overall I liked it (not a five star) but thought it was something I wanted to try out on one of my return trips and maybe reserve a block of rooms for family to stay again for my wedding. But I have read so many bad reviews that I have been hesitant. So you would recommend staying here?

Glorainna huhhhhh I know where that is…(sniff sniff)

DaDa - don’t mean to add to your sniffles sad.gif but you’re a Mobay girl, would you recommend it? Have you ever stayed at Toby’s?

I personally didn't care for Glorianna. One of my online friends stays there for months at a time...we even requested "her room". The room was awful - dirty, music too loud from the pool, little tv. However, my friend stayed a few doors down and her room was nicer. They would not swtich my rooms and it was not hardly full. I would stay there again if I had no choice and Damien will NEVER stay there again...he won't even look it when he ride pass it unsure.gif

Welcome back Sus.

really? we never have any problem. one time hubby went down a night early to get the room and such and when I came the next morning, the owner called to see if that room was ok for us (it was a smaller room) and I said it was okay but she insisted we get a better room so she had the bell hop show us three more rooms.
They will do that. They show you the rooms before you pick which one you want.
But they also knew us from before because I first went there with a fairly large mission group.
The pool DOES get loud, but it didnt bother us. Our room was always clean.

Yeah, it was a bad experience for us. They were super rude, the room sucked and coulnd't get any sleep. The owener came the day we checked out but it was too late...Damien made up his mind by then. We stood outside agruing over it...he refused to stay there. I would try to stay there again.

she lives there yes.gif You know if youre at the bar and you look up and one section on the top is barred in? thats where she lives

Hey guys!
Yep I have stayed there tons. Mrs G. is pretty good to work with smile.gif
PM me anything you need,.
We walked from there to everywhere, even the little plaza down with pizza hut and the shopping centers
It is near Dr. Cove and everything
If you get one of the rooms on the first level (pool side) they dont reserve them but there are ALWAYS rooms available its something like $40/night
not 5 star, but a good bargain
