Stacey

There is no packet 4 with CR-1..so...maybe you have an interview....but...youd better check that out bc it would be soon. I would call and talk with a live operator

Meliss..let him make an appoint for later AFTER he gets his other paperwork done..he WILL not get out in time..medical can take like 4hrs

and most of that is waiting

It took M about 2 hours and he was one of the first
They dont actually make appointments anymore I dont think. They just give you a day appointment and registration starts at 8. She said it is first come first serve, but I think that only counts for the first few because then they start mixing it up with the different parts of the medical and things. It was my impression that they only accept so many patients per day and you HAD to be there to start registration and if you werent then they ran out of time then you are just out of luck...so I agree with Kimmy...just have him take two separate days.

I called today and they scheduled his medical. He is also going to Andrews Memorial.
Shrewdie when he goes in does he just tell them that he will be back to pick up the results? I think we want to go that route too.

Thanks,

Yeah. I think they ask him if he wants to pick them up or if they dont just make sure to have him tell them before he leaves.
Wow. Did you already schedule the medical?

Moss does not grow under these feet. LOL! Yes I called this morning to schedule it.

did they give you a date two weeks before the date?
we had our medical last Wednesday and he picked up the results yesterday

Yes they did. So about a week later and they are ready, that is good to know. How did he say the medical went and did he get there at 8?

he said it was fine and he got there at 7 and he was already like 4 or 5 in line

Thanks for the happy thoughts everyone! Does anyone know how difficult it is to get an appointment for the medical? Should we call now if we want one by the end of this month?

Thanks!

yes
the past couple of months MoBay was booked.
Pecky and I both had no problem getting one at Andrews Memorial and you get the results super fast too (M's medical was last wednesday and he picked the results up yesterday)

They only schedule medicals 2 weeks before though. BUT... I accidentally told them the wrong interview date (I was a day early) and they scheduled it two days from THAT date.

either way I would call now.
Make sure he says he will pick the results up.

yeah he does need his interview letter but I got mine like a couple of days after I found out about the interview and faxed him a copy and I got mine long before they scheduled the appointment.

Hey all... anyone waiting on a march interview? I'm hoping and praying...

HI I called last week and they told me I "missed the February interview slots due to capacity" and to call the second week in February to confirm if I was able to obtain a March slot. Their seems to be no urgency with the scheduling at the NVC at all !!!! helpsmilie.gif I am now wondering if I should have processed the K-1 that was approved along with the CR-1 and see which one I was able to obtain an interview with 1st! unsure.gif

they always only schedule the second week of the month for the next month (sometimes they do earlier..but officially this is their scheduling date)
The NVC can only schedule after the embassy gives them the time slots. So, it isnt that they are not in a hurry it is just that the whole system is messed up! haha

do you mean a K-3?
K-1 is only for unmarried people.

Hey Shrewd gal, Yes the K-3 you know what I meant , LOL these NVC folks have got me all crazy today. I couldn't get through on the phone after several phone calls and was hung up on twice! crying.gif I'm going to start calling again after 6:00 when I get home from work.

You said it the system is so messed up! I have a friend of a friend in the embassy and I am trying to get a picture of what these slots look like and maybe it will provide us with some insight as to what we may receive down the line. As soon as I get that information I will post it ASAP! It's just the not knowing that is frustrating, because you need to make plans. I'm just going to keep praying for a swift appointment.

trust me, I know. June is our two year anniversary

Now I'm super confused. We are CR-1, but I had lots of contact with NVC because there were some crazy things happening with our case. After it was approved, they told me it had been sent to the embassy and they wouldn't be able to answer any other questions... is that not right? Shrewd, I thought you had called to get your interview time before you got the letter? Agh! Just when I think I understand it all! haha.

If you are CR-1 The NVC schedules your interview based on the amount of appointments that Kingston (the embassy) sends them. If you are K1 they send your file as soon as they are finished with it and kingston schedules you. SO - if you are CR-1 they should have your file until you have been given an interview date. The only reason they should have sent your file is if you already have an interview date..unless you had an expedite ..but even then you would have known.
SO- call NVC again and when they ask what you want say "Have I been scheduled an interview date"
what was wrong with your case? tht might change the answer to this question...but I dont think so
YOu can always email the embassy too. they will just say they dont have it if they dont have it smile.gif

Well, your case is still at NVC (I think you are CR-1?) so the embassy wont know anything about your case till they get it...which is AFTER you get an interview date..

When is he coming over?

Its disappointing for me, but he's thinking early March. He has to give one month's notice at his job and then will get some work done on his house and come over.
The job situation is a real bear here and I am so scared he will give up a decent job and not get one here. He's in technical/engineering field, so I told him he should be fine. Those fields always need people. He could also finish up his degree if nothing materializes right away.
I have to keep remembering that he is making a huge transition. Although he's visited many times. Its different when you live here and go through the day to day grind.

Is there a transition group or can we start one that will help our mates as they transition into a new life here?

lets start one!

Sending best wishes to Ontheedge for today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you ladies!!! It's finally done. Ontheedge is overtheedge now!

It feels so surreal!

Here's my experience:

I flew to mbj on Saturday, visited with his parents and my grandmother and my uncles in St. Elizabeth and then we drove up to Kingston on Sunday afternoon. We stayed at Christar Villas and planned to walk to the embassy, but it looked like a hike, so G drove up and parked at a makeshift lot right across the street. You pay $300 Jamaican and your car is pretty much safe. We got there at 7 a.m. There were two lines in opposite directions, both lines fed into the embassy entrance. After standing in the longer line for a few minutes, we realized this was the line for visitor visas and that the the opposite line was for family-based visa appointments. Don't listen to the chicks in the yellow shirts. The guys in the black shirts know more of what's going on. The women were telling us it was based only on appointment time.

We went through security and went on another line and handed one of the officers our appointment letter and went into the waiting area. We got into the waiting area at about 8 am for our 9 am appointment time. (G strongly believed that it was first-come first-served.) We ended up waiting until around 10:30 a.m. to get called to the first window. The lady verified the info and told us we'd be called back up again.

This long wait allowed us to hear some of the questions other couples and family visa applicants were being asked. The young blond woman with the attitude was there living up to her reputation. She asked people some pretty rude and intrusive questions. "Have you ever been arrested?" "Are you sure about that," "Do you plan on being in trouble with the law?" She turned down one man who couldn't remember the names of his step kids and told him to bring his wife back.
I prayed she wouldn't be our interviewer.
She also turned down a lot of people applying for fiance visas. She requested that the fiance come back with them. She also told many children to come back when DNA had been confirmed.

Many couples were asked to speak into a phone separately. One interracial couple brought their gorgeous baby with them. This still didn't seem to be enough proof of their commitment to each other for the blond B. She asked them many questions separately for at least 20 minutes. They had a huge wedding album and a screaming baby. They finally got approved.

**Please know that they are watching you before you even go up for the interview. The waiting area has a camera. They've probably already made up their minds before you get up to the window. So if you go in there and don't interact with each other (even if its out of nervousness) they will notice.

Our second call up to the window was by another agent. My prayers had been answered. The blond woman didn't have our fate in her hands.
Our agent asked very few questions, mostly of me. "When did you get divorced?" I told her five years ago and she also asked whether I was born in Jamaica. I told her I had been. She barely asked G any questions. When did you meet? How long have you known each other? She also asked for proof of our relationship. She barely looked at the album we slipped under the window.
She had a smile on her face the whole time. We didn't get asked any questions separately. We didn't even have to lift up the phone.
She congratulated him and sent him to the DHL desk.
He'll pick it up in Mobay in two weeks.
I was expecting them to ask for the second copy of the Police certificate but they didn't.
When do we get our originals back???
I think the experience varies based on which agent gets your case. It might not have been so easy if the blond woman had been our agent.
Good luck to everyone waiting for the interview.
Advice: Have a positive attitude and try not to show nervousness.
-K

CONGRATS!!!! but...that makes me really really nervous. what could she ask them for 20 minutes???

ontheedge- did they say it would take two weeks?? to pick it up?

If you are not going to use co-sponser or bank statements and just your pay stubs and W2 I say use the I864EZ...
This what you will need:

A copy of your individual Federal income tax return, including W-2s for the most recent tax year, or a statement
and/or evidence describing why you were not required to file. Also include a copy of each and every Form 1099,
Schedule, and any other evidence of reported income. You may submit this information for the most recent three tax
years , pay stub(s) from the most recent six months, and/or a letter from your employer if you believe any of these
items will help you qualify.

So you have your 2007, all W2s for 2007...its optional to submit the other year taxes so don't worry about that...do submit your past 6mos...you could do past 3mos too if thats all you have...i did 6mos worth of pay stubs myself...and i also submitted an employer letter stating my current status and stuff...this is the link for the I864EZ...

http://www.uscis.gov...orm/I-864EZ.pdf

thanks jgay. thats what I planned to do. I mean, we have to write our income for those last three years anyway on the form.
I prepared my 2007 1040, my w-2s, last 6 months paystubs and contract letter from last year. I dont have one for this year yet b/c they havent finalized budgets for the next school year and they always do that first since our salaries are on there. I will probably have it before I need it (hope not though!!)

think that will be okay?

hey guys..for the I-864 I think I will just send the info from 2007.
BUT I switched jobs in July
the only reason I dont do all 3 years is because I was still a student in 05 and didnt make the minimum

but I could send my last 6 paystubs I guess..

Yeah i am still within schedule but just seeing everyone's case complete btwn two to five days just makes me think like what is wrong with my case why i am not in that bunch...i called again...don't know why i keep doing that to myself because they told me the same story that my case has not been reviewed... crying.gif ....hopefully by next week coming i hear something...hopefully too that by me always calling does not jeopardize my case... whistling.gif ...I am going to do the letter thing and write to NVC and Kingston Embassy to request a date...we should all try...I don't think it will hurt...plus i think it will show that kingston takes to dag on long to assign dates that we need to push the issue...as soon as i hear a case complete i am going to do it...not sure what reasoning i am going to use but i will sure find one...I am trying to aim for July 31st...would love to be with my hubby during JA independence day...he was just telling me today that him and his friends were planning to go to Negril or Ochi and hit the beaches during the day and nightclubs at night...now i definitely need to be there.... yes.gif... laughing.gif

oh no jgay....its the october curse!! devil.gif

nah. it will work out for you. be thankful you aren't in VSC HELL and I will be praying for the speed of yall's cases...by the time I get to the NVC thread yall will be gone...just promise to stick around and help me!!

I've also done the DHL tracking since May 6th or so and there has been a Kingston delivery everyday, each weighing between 1-7lbs. So it seems there's some action going on. I know Kingston is a busy post but man! The island is the size of my county. I can not beileve there are that many people applying for K's or CR/IR visas.

Even'nin Lita;

My girl u bettah believe it. There is a lot of Ks,CR/IR, work, visitors, business, entertainment...the list goes on.

hey guys..does anyone have the link for the DS-230 so I can go ahead and get that filled out and signed?
I had it at one time..but I cant find it?

Shrewdie...when you contact USCIS to find out about your petition, what is it that they are saying to you? It is absolutely ridiculous that things are taking so long! They don't even care that they are ruining people's lives....

Well, they say "you are still within our processing times" because they havent moved forward past July 2007 in over THREE months...
Rumor is that they are shipping some I-130 petitions to CSC.... who knows.
My congressman cant get any answers from them either and said to wait for 6 months past the NOA1 date (which will really be 9 months for me) and then they can take formal/legal action
whatever that means.

Jgay, girl your crazy! haha Well i'm sure you'll hear something on your case by early next week. the Ds230 sont usually take more than a week after they are inputted.
I know how you feel about missing your husband though. Last time I went was Feb and I don't plan on going back til we get an interview so maybe July, maybe August. So it will be 5-6 months that we haven't seen each other. ugh!

Hey girls!
I miss you guys sad.gif
I feel so left behind..but I am so glad youre gettin your men here soon smile.gif

The last step of this NVC process has finally come to an end for me... kicking.gif ....(well if i don't get any RFE of course)...I sent it yesterday express and i checked online and it was delivered and signed by an R.Austin this morning at 10:49am...Now hopefully I can relax for a bit and in the next week or two hear a case complete... innocent.gif ...I told my husband he should start looking about going to a free clinic around him so he can get his vaccines up-to-date and he told me there is one like down the hill from him and he would do it before the end of this month...He's not in a hurry...he said he hates needles...(but he has a tattoo...don't really understand that...LOL)...I just feel so happy today... blush.gif

are the vaccines the same for every country?
what are some of the vaccines so we can be working on this too.
Can we get them done TOO early?
Thanks!

Thanks Marlita for bringing that up...you are totally right...I read over the instructions for the immigrant visa application on travel.stat.gov website...here is an excerpt:

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

Lucky thing I read this before going to the post office..... good.gif

so we DO need the original AND the copy..thats so strange
hahah thanks - I did know what they stood for I just was confused by needing the original AND a copy..
hahah aI dont even know why I am stressing about it b/c I am still at VSC crying.gif

You need to send the originals to NVC along with a photocopy. As far as the PC second copy just have your husband hold on to it for the interview. he need only send you the original PC and you will photocopy that and send to the NVC also.

Lita.... how it goes?
email me?
