US Embassy and Consulate Discussion	NEED HELP ON HOW TO CALL US EMBASSY MANILA	Hi everyone..im new here at vj..i need help on how to contact or call the us embassy manila..i bought this pldt touch card that can be used in calling embassies but unfortunately i cant get through the line of the usem manila..i receive a letter 2 weeks ago that im now eligible to be schedule for interview for my k1 visa..we got our aprroval last dec 29, 2009 and receive a letter from usem jan 27, 2010 stating that i should call the usem to get an appointment for interview..help anyone on how to call the usem manila...thanks.. This is the Manila embassy number I called: 1-888-877-9888 You will have to purchase a pin which is good for three occurrences and expires in 90 days. The petitioner has to call to setup an appointment. The customer service representative will also tell you to go to: http://manila.usembassy.gov/ >>"menu" - Consular & Visa Services >> select: Immigrant Visa Appointments >> scroll down to bottom of page and select K1 Interview Preparation Instructions For packet information. I haven't found any topics about this - however a while back I think I found a post where someone stated that they were done with the interview by 1p.m. My fiancee is scheduled on Wednesday at 7a.m. Can anyone share their experiences about how long it took. Philippines	Tracking	Does anyone know how or if you can track your case after USCIS sends it NVC and they forward to consulate or Embassy? Ok here is some information I have saved from a previous post: 1) Two days after NOA2, starting calling NVC: 603-334-0700 press 1 then 5. 2) Once NVC has your case, they assign a new case #. Ask them what date they sent your file to the embassy & also for the NVC case #. 3) Once you know the date NVC sent off the file, track it at DHL's website: http://track.dhl-usa...?nav=TrackByRef EXAMPLE: (adjust dates to fit your senario) A)Enter EXP 10 FEB 2010A as the reference number B)Set the date field as from Feb 10, 2010 and the To: Feb 11, 2010 C)Press Track 4) To find out if the embassy processed the packet, call the Dept of State before 5pm: 202-663-1225 press 1 then 0 Once you know that the embassy has your file, you should go ahead and schedule an interview appointment. They will provide you the web address for the requirements and additional tips (they will probably not mail out a packet three as you can go to the website and print out the information). Remember when you call the Manila embassy you will have to purchase a Pin which you can use within 90 days to call and setup the interview appointment. However, I'm not sure why the fee is so expensive for everyone else unless you are sending "a lot" of money. I sent $200 which Xoom would have only charged $4.99 to Bukidnon but hey $4.99 went to - $0 lol Anyway this site has been very helpful because I was using Western Union and paying a lot for those fee's. Philippines	Married life is great	I've bee married to my beautiful Filipina wife for over a month now and I'm so happy that she got to the USA problem free. It was worth all the time, money and effort for her to get here. But being in the midwest right now has its major downfall. I live in a town that is almost a third Hispanic/Mexican and there are no Filipinos here at all. When my wife and I are out in public we get so many rude stares that I can't believe, even from the Mexicans. My suspicion is that some people are just racist and too ignorant to realize she's not a Mexican in the first place. Anybody ever get that mix-up as well? I didn't realize the full extent of how narrow-minded dumb hicks are in rural communities in the midwest until I got married to a foreigner and started walking around with her in the grocery store. I don't care what other people think, but after awhile it gets really discouraging and irritating. Her first impression of the USA was pretty much people acting in that way. I had to take her to a big city to show her how much nicer the people are in general. People think most small towns in the midwest are full of nice, heart-warming welcoming friendly folk and it's NOT TRUE! I've been all over the United States enough to know that. If you're an American man marrying a Filipina that's moving here...don't expect her to like small town midwest USA! We want to not be treated like circus freaks walking around, or just a little respect. Doesn't everyone want that? I wouldn't pay any attention to it. Anyway there's nothing they can do about it and it could be anything(good or bad) since people are different. Philippines	travel warnings	I just pulled up another may with more detail of Mindanao and see exactly where you will arrive and travel to. I would feel safe in any place of that area of Mindanao. As far as the long bus ride, I would feel a little unesay if I tarveled anywhere in the Phils myself that distance myself and I would ask my wife to send a few of her brothers to meet me at the Butuan bus station to travel with me. It appears as if there could be some rural areas for the buss to travel through. Maybe there is a closer bus airport than Butuan to cut the travel time shorter? Good luck! ~Jan~ TIP #1: How to track your case from NVC to Embassy: When you know from NVC that your case was forwarded to embassy (mm/dd/yyyy) lets take an example case that was forwarded to embassy on March 20th 2009. 1 ~ Go to DHL TRACK 2 ~ Under track list, click on Track By Reference 3 ~ Type the reference in this format: EXP19MAR2009A, below that enter a date range and click track. 4 ~ A list of packages will come up and you can search for the city of your Consulate and it will show details. This worked for me and I was lucky that there was only 1 for Casablanca. ---------------------------------------------- TIP #2: You can track the progress of your case after NOA2 & it has gone to NVC and/or Embassy by calling the Department of State visa line at 202-663-1225 options 1, 4, 1, 5, 0. This will get you to an operator. (M-F 8:30AM - 5PM Eastern time) Give them your USCIS or Dept of State (NVC) case number and they will be able to tell you if the embassy has mailed Packet 3 or 4, the interview date, ect... **This is how I found out our interview date even before my fiance' has received his letter in the mail!** ---------------------------------------------- Thanks for the info!
