K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHiring an immigration attorney
Hiring a lawyer is just the same as doing it by yourself becasue that was our experience with my husband the lawyer will just tell you what to do, but still you will be responsible in doing all the forms and providing him the all the required papers...

For the biographic information, or G-325a forms. I had to attach a separate form to include all my work information. Do I have to put, one attachment behind each of the 4 forms or am I allowed to just put one attachment from at the end of the 4 pages?

Looks like the 4 pages go to different places and if so I'd put the attachment on each individual sheet.

I have the same thought as Haole, so I put an attachment for each sheet. I had no problem.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow do your parents/family take it?
QUOTE (Scott & LC @ Nov 28 2008, 09:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Heya everyone smile.gif

I was just wondering of the beneficiaries... how do your parents/family take it when you tell them that you're leaving to the US? Do they take it in good stride or do they object?? I'm just wondering how I should talk to my parents about it :/ They basically told me to think it over carefully coz they don't want me to regret in the future. They want to make sure that I'm totally serious about it. They're also very worried about me not getting a job over there since the economy is not looking good... I'm working as an engineer in the oil & gas industry at the moment...

Anyways, I would like to know your stories... how do you cope with leaving your family and how do they take it?

Thanks smile.gif

I'm the beneficiary here. I know every culture is different in every country. As for me, when I felt that my relationship with Rob is getting serious, I told my dad everything about him, also possible of me moving to the US once we decided to get married. That was a year before I & Rob decided to take K1 route. It is important for me that Rob is 'accepted' in my family, and so is the reverse cos Rob is very close to his parents as well. Of course my family is concerned about how I'm going to 'survive' in d US (getting new job that fits me, adjusting to weather, making new friends etc), and so many what ifs come up. I think the best way is to be flexible in any circumtances. We can't force the situation to be what we like/want to. It's your decision to be with your loved one, hence you should be aware of what might happens.
If you show your parents that you are ready to face the real life and how you will take it, then I think your parents would think it's time for them to let you go on your own way.

best of luck to all of us star_smile.gif

you can add an attachment to explain about the address etc. On the form (questions) that have not enough space, you can write: see attachment. Then on the attachment letter, make sure you write the question # before you write the answer.
That's what my fiance did  Good luck! star_smile.gif

have you registered ur case to USCIS site?

http://www.visajourn...h...80&t=165974
(find "Register" on the left side)
Once ur registered, then you can check the date (not necessarily everyday, but it is intriguing to do so!), if it changes from the last time you saw it, means your case has been touched.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHow we met letter
Hi there smile.gif this is what my fiance (USC) wrote to question #18 on I-129F form:
hope it helps smile.gif
happy holidays!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18: Has your Fiance(e) met and seen you

Dsd and I met at an ________site in April of 2007. Since then, we have corresponded via mail, e-mail, phone, internet, and text message. I took a trip to Jakarta, Indonesia to visit Ms. sd in October of 2007. During this trip, we traveled together to other parts of Indonesia: Puncak, Bali, and Yogyakarta.

In January/February of 2008, I traveled to Jakarta. From there, the two of us embarked on a trip to various locations in Thailand (Bangkok, Krabi/Railay Beach Area, and Phuket).

The attached documents provide proof of our ongoing relationship. I have attached documentary information for my trips in 2007 and 2008. I have printed itineraries, bank and credit card statements showing ATM withdrawals, and transactions for hotels. I have also attached copies of airline boarding passes (when available).

The packet also contains phone records showing (primarily) text messages to Ms. SD two phone numbers: +62……. and +62……. I have also attached a statement from my long distance provider (www.onesuite.com) for calls to Ms. SD. Please note that we use Skype (www.skype.com) and yahoo messenger (messenger.yahoo.com), for much of our voice and video chat, since they are free. I have attached screenshots showing my skype history of chat with Dsd (handle:______).
I have also attached a small sampling of e-mails that we exchanged, as well as copies of two cancelled envelopes/cards that I received from Ms. SD at my home address in VA.

The attached plastic bag contains photographs of the two of us, taken on the aforementioned trips. It also contains passport-sized photos.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

did you bring them along to the US, and were they needed when you arrived at POE and when u apply for AOS?

The instructions on the envelope should tell you to bring them with you to the US and turn them over to the officer when you enter the US. They are then returned to USCIS. They are the original immigration file and will be used by USCIS during your AOS process and retained permanently.

excuse me, did u mean that envelope is the brown envelope that must not be opened until POE? If so, I understand that I should bring that brown envelope. The docs (or should I say proofs) that were returned after getting d visa has no envelope or instruction on what I should do with them.

As an aside, this is one of the reasons I advise petitioners to tone down the tonnage of papers they send with the petition. The immigrant is going to need to carry them onto the plane when they come to the US.

thanks lot for ur reply :-)

That's up to you and your fiance. I thought you were talking about the sealed envelope. Some may be needed and some may not. I would certainly bring back any "originals". If all this is duplicated in your fiance's files at home, anything but orignial official documents can probably be destroyed.

.. thanks a lot for d info, pushbrk! and thanks to others who replied!

I'm wondering what did you guys do with the documents returned by the embassy when you picked up ur passport & visa?.. These documents are the one that originally sent by the petitioner to USCIS when filing for K1 (e.g.: phone bills, itineraries, letters, etc).
Should I bring them to the US??... will I need them again at POE and when I file for AOS?..
The docs are quite bulky.. so I thought if I won't need them again, I will just leave them at home :-)

thanks for ur reply & have a wonderful New Year :-)

Hello everyone,

This is a very interesting site. I've learned a lot from this site, thank you all for sharing. Unfortunately, my journey is ending. I guess my question is, would I have to contact VSC or just don't respond when or if I am approved? This was a very difficult decision and it is really affecting me. Thank God this is a long weekend.

Congratulations to all that have received their approvals and for those who will receive their approvals soon in case I don't come back to visit.

Yea i understand it is tough to answer and i need to talk to an attorney. As far as the conviction it was all on the same docket all the charges were tried at the same time and sentenced at the same time. Does anyone know if it does fall under the listed crimes does that exclude them from the K1 or just make you provide all the details of the crimes and have someone decide on a case by case basis >?

I think you have answered your own question...it clearly stated not arising from one single act....you stated that it was from one single act. Law enforcement will press as many chargesw an they cn during an arresst in the event that there is not enough proof for one, they still have another chance at another one. Most people plea not knowing what there chances are before a jury or because it is easier and less work for their attorney. Since they were first time felonies, you may have even been eligible for deffered adjudication. But none the less, it sounds like you would be ok. Good luck!

???

Let's say that a guy is a serial murderer and he murders 4 people over the course of a year. They arrest him for four counts of murder, but I guess using your logic that this resulted from a single act...interesting!!

Look im not trying to say it is a single act i was asking a question thats all. I just wanna know if this would stop a K1 from going through thats all ????????????????????????

i was convicted of 4 felony distibution charges 11 years ago would this have impact on marrying someone from overseas? Since they where all charges at the same time and arrested and tried at the same time does that mean i can select no ? Since it kinda was a single act ? But all the charges happened thorough out a year but was charged all at once!

I would not hire a lawyer in another State. Not a good idea in my opinion. I live in the Washington DC metropolitan area and believe when I say there are 1000 upon 1000 of lawyers here willing to take your money and do no work. Don't learn the hard way like so many other people, me included. I could have filled out the paper work and filed it myself. It's not hard. Are you applying for the fiance visa? She should try to do the filing herself or find an attorney in her town. If She still insists on having a lawyer do the work, she should try to get a referral from someone.

Good Luck. kicking.gif

good morning everyone
i was reading some topics here in vj about k1 visa and i really got shocked
well me and my queen will hire an immigration lawyer to file for k1 visa
i tried many times to tell my queen that we can do that and we don't need to hire any lawyers
but while she is so worried girl and she says she can not do that by her own i agreed with her
so when i was reading some topics i found someone here in vj got problems with an immigration lawyer
after he sent a package of documents and many pictures ......to the lawyer and paid the attorney fees all communications from the lawyer have stopped. He doesn't answer emails, messages and he doesn't answer the phone calls.
my fiancée lives in North Carolina and we will hire an immigration lawyer from Massachusetts and she will not meet him in person . we will just send our documents to him and we will pay to him by credit card or money order ...
i have been thinking maybe we can him to send us a copy of his license or his ID
we checked his name in yellow page and stuff like that and we talked to him several times and he sound so good man
so my question is how can we make sure he is a good lawyer and he wont do the same to us???!!
i will appreciate your advice helpsmilie.gif

WE HAVE A DAUGHTER TOGETHER THAT WAS BORN IN OCT. SHE HAS HIS LAST NAME SHOULD I SEND THEM A COPY OF HER SOCIAL SECURITY NUM?? AND A COPY OF HER PASSPORT?

hipcat,

Point of clarification: no, she did not immigrate to the US.

Stepping out of character for a moment and making a judgement based on insufficient information - the guy is a cad, no matter what his reason for changing his mind. He has done this woman a terrible disservice.

Yodrak

My wife's friend recently immigrated to the US on a K1 visa and when she got here her fiancee decided he didn't want to get married. ...

I think the first "he" was a typo. The poster refers to the K-1 as a "she" in the rest of the post.
