I would retire here if I was single and had enough money in savings to live off the 14% interest alone.

VietnamPost office? Sending packages to VN

They're all going to cost about the same.  Unfortunately I'm not aware of a Vietnamese run shipping service in Chicago.  In CA there's plenty and only costs me $4 per lb.  I just mailed a 22lb package the other day.  Cost me about $85

if you are there for the interview you don't need to notarized you can just sign in front of the CO.

I am going to try to be there for the interview. I will be taking our daughter so if she cries too much I might not be able to make it up to the window. I have updated my timeline and now have 3 pages worth with photos available for nearly every event. I will bring different copies. One notarized locally and one unsigned.

Actually, it should be ok if I get the timeline notarized by a local Vietnamese office, yes?

The timeline is only required when they issue a blue slip asking for it. And then it is requested that it be notarized.

Then I will probably go to the consulate to get it notarized.

USCIS Service CentersUnbelievably short Timelines
I feel bad for the people who filed in June like me and at CSC yet still not approved. I did file from abroad but I did not use my international address like others who got autoexpedited in 2-4 weeks, 8 weeks the longest. My 3 month wait seemed fairly normal at the time but I guess it was semi-expedited.

My timeline is pretty long as well. I included some significant meetings with friends, such as going to my wife's friends weddings. I included all the times she met my family members, which was a lot.

It took NVC 2 weeks to respond to our DS230. If you're approved, your case will be labeled as completed and your file will be forwarded to your embassy within 1-4 weeks according to the past timelines I looked over.. Once the embassy receives your file they or NVC will schedule an interview in 1-8 weeks. The interview date will be in 4-8 weeks after.

OK, When I visited my fiance in China I brought a completed G-325A and Letter of intent to marry with in 90 days of entering on a K1 Visa for her to sign, when i got back to the USA I then proceded to folow the instructions on filing the I-129F petition. Examples of G-325A, and Letter of intent can be found in the guides.

Also if starting this journey you may want to compleatly read the K1 guide, FAQ on K1, and Assembly tips.

Tks YuAndDan & sarah and hicham,

What you have just advised me is what my fiance has to do in his side, but what about me? It is said that when the fiance goes back to the states, he will take some papers from his fiance's side: birth certificate... or something like that. I just heard of it but don't know exactly. And that is what i wonder. When he visited me in last April of 2006, he didn't bring any papers which were involved in filing document yet.

Hi everyone,

My fiance is going to file the document according to fiance case of course, but he has no idea of what document i should prepare in my side and send to him via mail. I have known this site for such quite long time, and still watched the topics here. I know a lot of people were in my case and they managed to file their documents. Now, i am here to ask your help. Can you please tell me what papers i should prepare and send to my fiance?

Any advice would be highly appreciated!

Hello there,

I haven't heard this song before, however i still want to give myself a try to translate it into Vietnamese in my ability for you. Try to sing this to your wife, i think she would be so surprised for this.

Asia: East and PacificK-3 I-130 for Vietnamese national

Hi, I am a US born citizen living in California. And I need some info to do my I-130 for my wife. I was wondering what else I needed to enclose with my I-130 paper, G-325A bios and the 4 passport pictures? Somebody told me that I needed to enclose copies of our birth certificates, wedding pictures, passport copies, phone records and everything along with the I-130. I looked on the USCIS website but they didn't mention it. So I was wondering what am I supposed to include in my mail package besides the I-130 and the Biographical info? thanks a lot in advance for any assistance.

Hi Vietnam,

As soon as he got an email from USCIS to inform us that our case was approved and was mailed to him on Feb 27th, he gave me a ring. And I was thinking which day i should put in my timeline, March 8th or Feb 27th, i finally chose Feb 27th.

Thank you to all of guys here for cheering with me,

Asia: East and PacificThe changing of ward's name where i am situated will affect my paper work?

What you should do, IMO, is to have the letter/notice/announcement from the local official in regarding of the change in WARD included in your file. But from now, on going, any paperwork you will fill out with Ward 9 as your ward. If the consulate wonders why, they can see the letter/notice/annoucement from the local officials. Personally, I don't believe they will make you to refile the whole thing with the new ward. Addendum document would be ok.

Note: your NOA2 will have Ward 12, but when you file for your P3 and P4, make sure you put down as ward 9 and included the announcement of change letter, hope you have that letter. To make sure the C.O. won't miss it, you should also write a letter to explain why Ward 9 now, but not 12. I am pretty sure the Consulate is also fully aware of the change in the local, especially in Saigon.

Good luck and I don't see why you should lose any sleep over it.

chuck and kim

Hi chuckandkim,

My teacher whom is a lawyer already said to me the same things like yours yesterday morning. I will follow it to do. However i still have question on this, would you mind giving me answer? The Consulate will send me package 3 with name of old ward in my home address. But when i send it back to the Consulate, i will put my new ward, right? Should I send the letter which i will get from the local officials to certify that Ward 12 is already changed into Ward 9 together with package 3?

Tks chuckandkim, wish you two the best always.

Asia: East and PacificThe changing of ward's name where i am situated will affect my paper work?
Hello guys,

I have been resident at ward 12, district... since i was born. There are a huge populations in ward 12 including people who already stayed here so long ago and people come from different geographical places of country to here for their work. Two months ago the goverment decided to seperate ward 12 into two small wards in order to guarantee that they can take a good control of the big populations here. So a half of populations in ward 12 belongs to ward 9 including my family. However all documents such as Register Book, ID Card, Student Card... are written that i am situated in ward 12. I am wondering if the changing of ward will affect to my paper work? Since my NOA2 is approved, i intend to go to the Department of Justice to require Police Record. I am told to bring the copies of my Register Book and ID Card together with Police Record form which i will be given apply to there. Will they issue Police Record for me in which will be written that i am resident at ward 9 instead of ward 12 as it is written in Register Book and ID Card? Or should i explain to them that goverment made their decision to change my ward 12 into ward 9? Any input will be highly appreciated!

Tks in advance and have nice days to all.

Asia: East and PacificHelp...we got blue slip!

They gave me the blue slip says:

Based on the information ascertained through the visa interview and through documentary materials, consular officers do not believe that there is a bona fide fiance/spousal relationship between Petitioner and Beneficiary. If you have any other evidence to present which would convince a reasonable person that the relationship exists for a reason other than immigration, please submit it.

What should we do? We submit all the evidences (phone bills, email, chat log, travel photos, travel tickets, hotel's receipt, cards, letters, photos of engagement party.) we have. How do i prove our relationship is true?

Do i resubmit all the evidences again?

Hi Thuy,

I am sorry to hear that you got a blue slip. I know you are feeling sad at the moment. I just give you my ideas and hopefully it can help. Since you told they suspected on your relationship, and since you showed them all necessary envidences to prove your relationship but they still doubted on you, i think, now you should need the third person whom knows your relationship well enough to interfer this. It will be more convincible if the third person is your fiance's relative, he/she could be sister or brother of your fiance whom can state in the letter that your relationship is true, not fake.

It is just my own opinion, and i believe there are still some other people here who can give you their wise advices to help you overcome this situation. You should be fine, God will help you.

Hi there,

Question 2, you can ask your wife to go the Department of Justice which is situated in Pasteur street, Dist 3 for Police Report from now, that is fine. When she first goes to there, she will be given a form which she needs to fill it up and then return it to the Department of Justice. Tell her to bring her ID card, Passport Holder and 100.000 vnd (that is a fee) to apply the form. She will be asked to come back there to receive Police Record afer 2 weeks that starts from the day she applies. And it is used within one year.

Asia: East and PacificCorrection to original I-129F
Hi there,

I also made a mistake in the original I-129, my dad passed away three years ago, but i still filled in the form that my dad is alive. And when i received package 3 from US Consulate, i realized mistake, but it was too late to correct it again. So, in the forms that US Consulate sent, i wrote down correct information for my dad's situation. I made phone to the lady in Information Unit at Consulate to ask if i would meet any trouble with this, and she replied that it was fine. So i think, yours will be okay too. But you can give them a ring to ask about this to make sure if you like.

It doesn't matter whether you use Capital letter to fill or not. You should not worry about this. If you want to write down in new form again, you can download online form. It's fine too.

Yes, DS-230 part I & DS-2001 are two forms that your fiancee must send back to US Consulate.
