So does this mean that even if you have a Medical Appointment, say, on December 19, 2007 and an Interview Schedule on Jan. 3, 2008, you can have a medical exam earlier than December 19? Say for example Dec. 12?

yap the sooner the better so when u have any problem u will not rush into ur interview more on if ur bringing any kids with u , th mediacl of the kids take 3days coz of the skin test. the medical is valid 1 month prior to interview date.

QUOTE
My wife and amak did theirs almost 2 months early!

! sure would like to see where you got that information about the medical only being valid for ONE month?
Something NEW???

Part of the confusion for me is that Sheriff Ulings Manila Embassy K1 Visa Guide (section 4.6 on SLEC) says: "If the medical exam is taken anytime over a month before the visa interview, there is a risk that the results could be invalid, which means the beneficiary will have to take another medical exam before the visa can be approved."

However, the USEM page on the medical examination (http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3218.html) says: "Medical examinations are generally valid for 6 months".

I just got the NOA2 for Mahal ko's visa and would love to have her and the kids get medicals, as well as get the CFO attendance out of the way while I'm there from Dec 21 - Jan 5. I'm not holding out hopes that we'll get an Interview scheduled by then, so if we can proceed with Meds and CFO without Interview appt, that' be great.

PhilippinesWhat's the best time to call NVC?
Can someone tell me if its possible to call and enquire at NVC if I don't have NOA2 in hand? What information do I need to talk with them?

I just got NOA2 email on Wed before I left for Thanksgiving and business trip. I will not be back home until Dec 1, but I would like to check with them before then to see if they receive anything.

Any clues or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

PhilippinesINTERVIEW AT MANILA US EMBASSY
Shai,

From the reading that I have done, I will echo what others have said.... The window is small. Most that I have read is that people put evidence in clear plastic sheet holders and into a 3 ring binder. Then they wait to be asked for particular pieces. The interviewer does not ask you for everything, nor do they expect you to push a mountain of paper or books at them. biggrin.gif If your evidence is well organized, so that you know where each piece is located and can quickly respond to particular requests, you should be fine.

Good luck with your interview and tell Wilson to take good care of you. Please be at peace and happy and smile a lot, even though you will be stressed. Everything will work out fine.

PS: What happened to the nice pictures you posted?

Are you referring to home as NY now?

Has the other parent signed a release to allow the children to come to the US? If not the K-2 will be denied.

Jasman,

If you know this factually and can produce it, I'd appreciate the specific web reference. Otherwise, the speculation is more harmful than helpful.

The annulment decree declares "Custody of the minor children of petitioner [honey ko] and respondent is hereby awarded to petitioner subject to respondent's visitation rights."

I read the DSWD website about travel permits and saw the issue of watchlist. I believe the annulment decree covers the custody issue, but not sure how "subject to respondent's visitation rights" would be interpreted.

As I said in the original post "I'm hoping there are others on the forum who have brought children over with potential hostile ex-family that might be willing to share their experiences (public or PM me). We have taken all the necessary steps for the Visa process and the kids will attend the Medical and Interview. We don't expect any problems from USEM."

ps to Credzba: Yes, we can try that too but one way he can cause trouble is by refusing to do that until we're ready to board the plane. I'm trying to determine what (if any) others may have experienced.

PhilippinesNeed Experiences: Filipina K1 traveling with Children from potential hostile departure
Are there any filipina's out there who have had to bring children (derivitive K2 from K1) while leaving with hostile ex-family situation?

Honey ko has children that we will bring with her (derivitive K2 from K1). Some days her ex is fine with this, saying "its good for kids to go and have opportunity". Other days he threatens to make trouble for their departure.

I'm hoping there are others on the forum who have brought children over with potential hostile ex-family that might be willing to share their experiences (public or PM me). We have taken all the necessary steps for the Visa process and the kids will attend the Medical and Interview. We don't expect any problems from USEM.

Right now, honey ko has physical custody of 2, while the 3rd child lives with ex's mom. I am confident that we can manage the situation, but as things progress she becomes more nervous. Sharings from other filipina's about bringing their children over with them would help.

ROUGUEWAVE......you and I both have the same NOA2 dates.
Can you tell me what number you called, and what info that you had to give them.
I sure hope that we are there with you all also.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE HERE.......... :energetic: :energetic: :energetic:

To get info from the NVC, I called 603-334-0700. Press 1, then 5 to talk with an employee.
If all operators are busy, you might get cycled back into top menu, or popped out to an exit msg.
I called late (11:30pm) Eastern time, as they are on-duty until Midnite and seem less busy then.
Be prepared to give USCIS Rec't number, beneficiary name & Date of Birth (for verification).

I asked if they had rec'd the application. If so, what was the date of receipt (at NVC) and case number.
I also asked if they'd sent it to the embassy yet. 1st time I called, they said they hadn't and they told me when to call back to check again. They were very nice.

When I called the US Embassy Manila, I called +63(2) 301-2000 ext 5184
I had to provide the Case # (from NVC) and also verify beneficiary. I asked if they had rec'd package, if the Packet had been sent to beneficiary.

Hope this helps.

I did this first and got connected to a call center. It was hard to understand them and the connection was poor. I also got the sense they were a commercial call center, not USEM employees. After that, I called the embassy directly.

It was an $18 education.

Most people are entering their timelines into their Signatures, in addition to the Timeline database. That way, people reading the forums, comments, and threads can see at a quick glance what the person's situation is. To enter anything into your signature, do the following....

Touch "My Assistant" on the Light Blue menu bar at the top of the screen.
Select "Edit Forums Signature" from the pop up menu.
The text box that opens can be filled with anything (mostly) you want. Its HTML friendly, so if you speak that language you can get really fancy. If not, just simple text is fine. Each time you press "Update my Signature" it will display what you input in the upper section and return you to the editing box in the lower section. When you're done, just select another menu option.

Play around with it a little and see if you can get the hang of it.

With all the folks on here who seemed to have luck calling the embassy, I did the same and was told both the Medical date scheduled (12/27) and the Interview date scheduled (01/04/08).

They also said the sent the packate out to honey ko on Friday, Dec 7 and that it should be there in the next day or so. I'm waiting for confirmation that it arrived.

we just got our approval on dec 7th. are interviews scheduled upon arrival of hardcopy or electronic? im wondering if we will make the latest cut

Congrats to you!! To answer your question, no, interviews are scheduled regardless if you get the hard copy of the notice from NVC. Snail mail is the hard proof that in fact the case is moving on. Since you have a case number, you can call the Embassy in Manila to see when they receive the packet and ask for interview dates if they have already scheduled them. I believe the US Embassy in Manila schedules the interviews and relays this info to NVC and Department of State. Now, Ive been tracking the schedules online at the USE Manila website, and currently Ive only gotten 2 interview schedules for MNL2007819XXX, which the interview date at the Embassy is Jan 9, 2008. They haven't scheduled anyone after that or at least not updated the website for inquiring for the past 3 weeks.

What phone number are you using to call the embassy in Manila? All I can find on the website is the call center number, which I tried ($18.00 cost) and they aren't very helpful. I think they are using a Philippine call center, which would be both appropriate and ironic. I'd prefer to just call overseas if I could and talk with a live person in the Embassy.

The only other numbers I've got are for NVC and the DoS here in Washington, DC. They only seem to have the information about when the package was sent and can't even confirm that it was received.

Listen to this nice piece of noose I got from doing my weekley call to the USE.. They now need a P 650 fee paid at the metro bank ASAP After paing that fee they need me to send a text to Delbro International showing I made the deposit.

this is the info she gave me:

go to any metro bank and deposit php 650

Account # 7-151-51420-7

Account name : Delbros International Logistics INC
Get two deposit slipps one for the bank and one to keep

after that is done you will need to send a text ,message in all capital letters to:

TN # 0917-5555-313
USE-MNL case number - first, last, middle name-(branch name)-(dat of deposit)-(time of deposit)-php650

Example of date 7 dec 07 day month year

She said people that already have interview dates don't need to do this

You happen to know what the extra fee is for?

Thanks to Cadman76 for pointing this out to me, its not an extra fee but a required process which Delbros does, they verify that your beneficiary in the Philippines has a valid birth certificate and is sent to NSO for verification. Its actually stated on the USEM website http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3219.html the 6th bullet from the bottom of the page and has a link to http://manila.usemba...ov/wwwfdelb.pdf describing what Tim posted.

My fiance has children who we are processing to bring with her as K2 derivatives. Does anyone know if the 650 php fee has to be paid for fiance and EACH child?

Please don't just quote me from the referenced page. I read it and it says "The cost of the document verification is P650 per applicant.". It just seems strange to me that they would want "document verification" for derivative (children) applications. I'm hoping someone who's been through this will reply with their experience. Thanks.

I have a way to search them so I dont have to type out all the case numbers that have valid schedules in the website.

PhilippinesAnyone going home for vacation in P.I this year!
I just booked (01/05) one way tickets for 1 adult, 3 children on Continental airlines for Jan 18. Total cost? appx $2700 (all 4)

2 days later (01/07) I exchanged these for one way tickets for same group on Continental airlines for Jan 12. Total cost? appx $3100.

I had been using Travelocity to try to get tickets to fly family back to US after successful Visa interview. Prices there were appx $1400-1700 (economy each, one way). For some reason, the ticket prices I was able to get directly on Continental were not appearing. I speculate that they were being snapped up as quickly as they were releasing them.

I don't know how this would translate to round trip, but I thought I'd share the recent information. All flights were/are between Manila and Washington, DC.

PhilippinesVisas Approved - Family on its way!!!
Just a short note to check in and post a summary of recent events. I was over in Philippines for the holidays, arriving Dec 20 and just departing Jan 5. During that time honey ko and I were able to process all required medical exams (her and 3 kids), we had the interview on Jan 4 at which point they were approved for the Visas.

Everything went reasonably smoothly, although there are some stories and notes to post on the forum when I've recovered from the Jet Lag. She told me yesterday (last night) that she has picked up ALL the visas and was getting the requisite CFO stamps in all the passports. We've already got tickets purchased for flights for them to come over to the US this weekend. She has packed up the house and has moved to temporary quarters in Manila to wait for that, while the kids are saying a farewell to the ex and his family.

By this sunday (1/13) they should be arriving here, where I'm ready to receive them and we're all excited to get started on the next parts of our respective lives and journey's.

More to post later, but for now I wanted to post this and say a huge THANK YOU to all who participate in this forum for the contributions you make to make the journey a little more tolerable. Thanks.

On the very last paragraph of the link above, there is also the verification of the petitioner's whereabouts. Is this a new policy aside from NSO verification we will pay at Metrobank?

Guys I need to repost it to get more opinions.

No offense, but if you read the paragraph it starts with "If the consular officer needs verification...". That means its not always going to happen and will be at the officer's discretion. I suspect this is because there are occasions that they suspect some form of fraud is occuring (e.g. the petitioner is dead) or perhaps question where the petitioner is (e.g. NOT in US).

This doesn't appear to be a requirement, just something that might be asked on occasion.

I have a lot of friends married to Filipinas and so far about 75% of the Filipinas have cheated on their husbands. Is this a normal thing in the Philippines? One friend treated his wife like a queen and she still got a boyfriend on the side and was even renting an apartment for him using my friend's money. I just don't understand this cheating thing. I am going to have long discussions with my wife but wanted to get feedback here on this board too.

It wasn't clear from your posting question or your friends situation, but I'm wondering if you're asking in the context of a continuing LDR (e.g. married and filing for K3 visa) rather than currently co-habitating. Personally, I think this makes a difference in the statistics also. I think a lot more of what you describes happens when the couple remains seperated and have heard of instances of this from my wife.

Oh, the things I miss when I'm up to my backside in cardboard boxes and drywall dust.

As for the point of whether or not people were grumbling about processing times last year - of course they were. They were when I processed two years ago. They were when the site was started more than five years ago. In fact, lack of information and lengthy processing times were the REASON the site was started. So there is nothing new under the sun in that regard.

Is it something new on VJ that people have jealousy about those with shorter processing times? No. Is it something new for those members with shorter visa processing times to be told they 'can't possibly understand'? No. Not new at all.

The ONLY reason some of us who have been at this a while occasionally come forward to take another beating is to ask you all to look inward. The intent of my post (way back in this thread) wasn't about JUST the immigration processing you will have to endure after you are reunited.

I'm sure all of you still separated often say what my husband and I used to say - that you just want to be together. That you just want a 'normal' life - you just want to be a 'normal' couple. Well, guess what? One day, you will. One day (probably several years from now) you will wake up and realize that the foreign born spouse you wake up to each day is just another man or woman with only a few minor differences from the conventional mate you might have found in the states - you know, they have that lovely accent or beautiful skin color you couldn't find around the block. They probably have some virtues similar to what you were looking for in a spouse. I assure you they come packaged with some of human natures annoyances too. So.....in time.......all the waiting will fade away, it will pass, and you will have to deal with your long-distance lover just as you would have the boy or girl next door. For all of your sakes, I hope and pray you have not romanticized your separation beyond the point of not being able to see that eventual horizon.

But there is a layer to these relationships that is unlike the conventional kind. Are you prepared? Are you prepared for all the things previously mentioned - delays in being able to work and drive? Language barriers? Are you REALLY ready to help your spouse start over just like a child - having to learn all over again how to function daily in society? Learning how to post a letter, count currency, find a favorite cereal on a shelf? Learn what words and phrases are socially acceptable here, and what ones are not? Are you prepared to help them with everything and everyone they miss from home?

And are you prepared for how society will react to them? Are you prepared for the employers who subtley discriminate against hiring the non-American born? Are you prepared to help your spouse translate their foreign credentials so those willing to hire them can assess their qualifications? Are you prepared for the people who DON'T find your spouses' accent or skin color as charming as you do? Are you prepared for the hostility of them being viewed as 'another immigrant' seeking a greencard, looking to suckle off the great American prosperity machine solely for their own benefit and at the expense of American workers? Are you aware that all the media attention towards immigrants these days is not productive to your loved ones future in America? Are you aware that as laws are crafted (as they surely will be in the near future) they WILL affect your spouse? Even if those laws are designed to stop the flow of so-called 'illegal immigration' - are you aware that some they those laws will possibly reach in and touch your family?

Your journey is not over when you receive NOA2. It is not over when the visa is approved. It is not over when the greencard is received. It is not even over if your spouse naturalizes. Each step of the process brings you to another plateau and THAT IS ALL.

Because we have chosen to love and marry someone from outside our culture and border, the rest of our lives will be different. In most ways, it will be beatifully and wonderfully different. Our families will benefit from blended cultures and our eyes will be opened to the differences of humanity. But in other ways (and hopefully they will be few for each of you) you and your spouse have challenges to face normal married couples don't experience. I am here to tell you that the fact your relationship survives this separation now IS NOT PROOF you will be able to endure all that life, immigration, society, and bigotry will throw at you.

Because one day, your life will be NORMAL. Can you handle the unique challenges you will face as a blended-culture couple once you are finally NORMAL?

With patience and understanding - you can. So - become patient now. The government is not the thing that will kill your relationship or your marriage. But American impatience and intolerance can - and I say American because that 'microwave mentality' is so prevalent in our culture today. We want what we want now and on our own terms.

Funny - life isn't really like that. Never has been and never will be.

rebeccajo,
I would also like to thank you for your post and appreciate what you have to say. It resonated with many of the things I have been thinking and have thought about the changes when mahal ko will arrive. I also know that some of the things you speak of are true because of my experiences with my ex-wife (not-US born) and the work I do. I wish that this post could be the start of a seperate thread where some of those who have gone before share their suggestions about "Things to Think about" and talk about all the non-logistic and non-material issues, challenges, and concerns that will occur.

Thanks for sharing you wisdom and experience.

So I feel pretty good in this thread, and there have been a ton of approvals lately.

Well, I'm new to the "I'm approved" crowd so.

Can someone fill me in on how this process goes from here on?

Like, okay. Now it will go from VSC to NVC, right? Then NVC ships it to the consulate, in my case, London.

It seems to be taking...a couple weeks to go from VSC to NVC, right? That's cool.

When should Amy receive packet 3? When in the process does that show up? How do I know when NVC has gotten our case and/or forwarded it? Will the only way I know when Packet 3 has arrived is when Amy tells me? What is "Packet 4"? Is that another thing sent to her?

So many questions, I know I could probably read a guide, but ya'll know how this works too, so fill the newbie in plz tongue.gif

If yours takes a couple of weeks to go from VSC to NVC, then you're probably walking it down the street. Mine took 5 days (20-26 Nov) to go from VSC to NVC. Others getting NOA2 approvals these days seem to have about the same. In theory, VSC is waiting for a "batch" before sending, but with all this processing they're doing batches are growing quicker.

Our appl seemed to race through NVC (26-28 Nov) but this also seemed consistent with the increase in processing, based on others reports. Or maybe its a regional thing. I was able to call NVC (603-334-0700, press 1, press 5) to talk with a helpful employee. From here, I believe it becomes more Embassy dependent. You might want to check through the regional threads to see where your next friends are gathering.

Hey folks,

For all those who want to have been through NVC and want to try to track their application package to the embassy, I posted this.......

http://www.visajourn...showtopic=98172

Its based on some information that byron shared with me, and I tried to refine into something people could work with. If its WAYYYyyyy too confusing, let me know and I'll try to clean it up.

Of course, it is intended for ONLY those among us who are the most controlling and ####### retentive, and can't bear to let things get out of our sight now that we've been through NVC hell.

Yayyy... just wanted to let you all know - VSC is still working!!

I've had NO touches since my NOA-1, not even when I changed my address!! Also, I remember some people wondering whether they were issuing RFE's for not having including the beneficiary's birth certificate - I didn't include that, and was starting to freak out... but I guess you don't need it!

Bill y Bella is right!!!!! The Colombia Club got the hook up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, and good luck on your trip. I think its the right thing to do.

When honey ko was sick in Oct (not as serious as Leidy) I sat here frustrated for almost 2 weeks, until she went into the hospital and I'd had enough. Early on Friday morning I bought a ticket and boarded a flight later that day for Manila, Philippines. She didn't know I was coming.

It was a wonderful surprise and helped incredibly with her recovery, both physically and emotionally.
