K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	wait times for interviews, Vancouver, Canada	Hey they fellow Canadians I have too much time on my hands and use the time to research just about anything to do with this process. I'm most interested in times it takes each couple to go to next task. I went into the US Consulate site for Vancouver and set up my account for when that beautiful day arrives and I get to book my interview. It says they are booking 21 days. So that is pretty good. So as soon as you have all your needed paperwork and case number then you will be able to plan your getaway for a month later.... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	opinions wanted	Hi Everyone Here is the query. Should the processing of RFE's go by the date the info was received by USCIS or NOA1 date? What if the earliest NOA1 didn't get looked at until after a later NOA1 and issued RFE after later filed K1. What if the NOA1 was assigned in July and were able to have their RFE received before the earlier ones? This is a real sore spot with me at the moment and feel like somehow my file got put under a pile instead of on the top. According to the stats from the year beginning one RFE took 66 days. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Medical Information	Today I was doing more reading on the next process( even though our K1 hasn't been approved yet) What I was trying to find out was if we get the information back from the POE officer. I know it contains our medical information from our exam and that we need some of the information for our AOS. I also read in a thread that often there are issues that USCIS "loses" our medical information and to get a copy is next to impossible in some instances. SOOO... I contacted the Woking Medical Clinic where I will be going for my medical and asked if we could have an extra copy of the information. I'm not sure if this will work anywhere else but this is what information was given to me for Vancouver, Canada. Hello Terri, We are able to give you a sealed copy of your medical only if applicants request it for their adjustment status no other reason as we have been instructed by the Consulate. Now if you have not had your medical with our office yet and want a copy when you come in make sure you inform us of this, bring 3 additional passport photos and there is an extra fee of $30.00. Now if you have had your medical, we need to know when you were in our office, and fee will be $50.00 For me this is what I will be doing as the $30.00 extra and the cost of the extra photos will be worth it for me just for peace of mind in case things go amuck when I need the information for AOS. I know that the medical information for Canada goes into our A file but have read horror stories and hope we can intercept an annoying situation. Hope this can help some fellow Canadians. When I asked why others who filed in the same office after me and have moved on before me they said they couldn't give me any information. I asked to speak with someone who could answer my question and they said they were having technical difficulties and try back tomorrow. It's completely God's provision...met a guy a couple times at the church we'd been visiting, he heard I was job hunting, said I should call his wife who is a Marketing Director of an Estate Agency. I called and met her the next week. She then forwarded my resume with a personal recommendation to all the independent agents on the books of their 4 DC area market centers. One emailed me and after 3 weeks of phone interview, personality testing, reviews and meetings she's taking me on as her Executive Assistant/Operations Manager (title to be confirmed!!!)!!! A lot of the agents are at the stage of having too much work and looking to create a team so i'm her first hire and the idea is that 80% of her workload comes to me, then as the business grows, I will take on assistants to take 80% of my work!!! It's something I would never have thought to go for and I have no experience or training but she's putting faith in my skills and abilities and I start Monday!!!!! I'm so excited, and daunted, and nervous, and overwhelmed - i'm even getting an office with walls and a door AND business cards My advice - tell everyone you meet you are looking for work!!! nicely done... I just got off the phone with USCIS because I found out that if and when I get called for the AOS interview we have to take with us the I94 document. Because the officer upon POE messed up my document I had to apply for a replacement document (I102). Long story short they messed up that application by generating a second application. Well at long last they just told me they mailed out my replacement I94 2 days ago. Whew.... Things are moving along nicely now. Question: How many received their EAD/AP card on one card and who have 2 separate cards? Who has an interview book from our group or has already gone through it? The bad news is his EAD still hasn't arrived. The USPS tracking suggested it should have arrived yesterday as it was sitting the holding facility not to far from my house, but it didn't come. My postal carrier has the tendency to be really bad about delivering mail to the right people. I'm really, really hoping it arrives today, otherwise I'll be very concerned. I believe after he starts his job he has 3 days to show them unless the employer gives him more time on his word it is coming. He just can't get paid officially without them seeing it. WOW I thought maybe by Friday but 2 days later?... Crazy. So now I move on to the next step. SSN, then CT license, proof of insurance for my car, registration, temporary plates to get the emissions test and then TA DA, I'll be able to drive my car again. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	I just spent another 40 minutes on the phone with USCIS. I'm still trying to get a faster resolution to fix the mistake they made on my I-94. Put in the application with an NOA1 of November 15. When I sent in my packet form my AOS, I of course included photo copy documentation showing the pending I-102. It seems the person pulling apart my packet thought it was an application for the I-102 mistake and generated another I-102. Different NOA1, different date. They put in a service request and so I wanted to know the result in the request. It had not been looked at yet but the tier 3 supervisor said she put in an over ride of that request asking for the matter to be dealt with this week. We will see what happens... sigh.... Well I had a weird dream last night which made me check my paperwork again for the I-102 (replacement of I-94) because the officer in trying to help us made a mess of things. anyways I went on USCIS site to check the status of my cases I-485, 765, 131, 102. The dates didn't jive as was shown to me in my dream. When I checked there a mistakes on receipt numbers. I called USCIS customer service to be nicely transferred to tier 2 where after 30 minutes of investigating it seems that when I sent in my paperwork for my AOS I of course had to provide proof that the I-120 had been filed. So now it seems they have 2 pending I-102 for me because the person who went through my packet didn't see the NOA1 for the first I-102. So now here I am waiting for a call from them to explain to me why??. Meanwhile I can't have a SSN until this I-94 is straightened away and of course the timeline has passed so not sure what will happen. Let's see how long to get our bio appointment. My papers were sent Dec 12, NOA1 came on the 17 in the mail, email and text on the 14 th, and last week I received my appt letter for bio on Jan 11. pretty quick i think. I'm sure the holidays have delayed mine, I'm just wondering. The post office confirmed delivery on Saturday morning, so I'm hoping to hear something by next week. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Any February 2012 filers?	I'm so confused!!! Keep reading different things - red number is the visa number, or control number is?! We're still debating whether or not to chance the temporary marriage certificate! Think we might just go for it so that we can mail both the AOS and WP together now and save money...worst they can do is hit us with an RFE for the real one! ok so I just went to the I-485 instruction pages and it definitely states a copy of your marriage certificate, I-94 and the fiance petition approval notice is what you submit. Because of an error the CBP officer made on my I-94 and exhausting my patience trying to get some info from anyone at USCIS, I booked an Info Pass for this morning. Found out if you have an I-797 to go with a pending I-102 you can still and should put in the package for the AOS. Whew. Felt much better. I still can't apply for my SSN or register my car or get my CT license but at least I will be moving in the right direction. Hope things are moving along for those waiting for news on anything. That's the white form they give visa holders to complete in the plane, right, and that then becomes a small card that is attached to your passport to give you permission to be in the U.S.? I'm not that clear on the step in between completing the form and having the card put in your passport: is that where the mistake happened? Trying to figure out what to tell him to watch for. I'm kind of about to burst right now! I woke up at 2:30am (because of course that's a fine time to wake up if you're in a timezone 6-8 hours ahead of EST), and checked the DHL waybill status for his passport/visa while I was up: "awaiting collection by recipient"! He's going back to Nairobi (12 hours each way on the bus) Wednesday to retrieve it. We decided that's close enough to visa-in-hand to book the ticket, especially as the seat availability is quite low for the itineraries direct through Amsterdam with POE in Boston. We considered having him fly from Nairobi to save the trip back, but all of the fares are way more expensive, and his relatives in Uganda would be disappointed not getting to send him off. Plus he spends a lot of time in/around the Uganda airport for work, so we like the idea of his actually getting to finally go there to fly somewhere. There were 2 affordable days within the next 1.5 weeks, so we picked the one that doesn't involve his arriving at the airport in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner. He'll be here next Tuesday!!!! OMG!!! I'm having this almost uncontrollable impulse to run outside and start telling random strangers about it. Should find a way to channel this impulse into unpacking & organizing my apartment, eh? YAY!!!! I can relate to your overwhelming urge...ha ha ha . The mistake happened at the immigration booth. He wrote my fiances name on the back of the card instead of mine. To tell you the truth it didn't seem odd at first because ... well.... none of this process is logical. So just have him check it before leaving. It is all so surreal and overwhelming to think of all this stuff when they are fingerprinting you, lines are long and they are trying to process so many people. I just flew in this afternoon from a 3-day stopover to see some friends in Holland on the way back from Africa, and Aaron and I were speculating on the phone about when the embassy might get around to issuing the visa and sending it out, since I'd checked at the end of the business day on Friday and there was nothing listed then. But then when I got home and checked online, a record had been added and his passport/visa is now in transit. !!! Not sure why it was shipped out on a Sunday, but I'm not complaining. He's already saying his farewells to friends and wrapping things up at work, so we're on track for him to leave very soon. Surreal! For those of you who've done the whole POE thing in the U.S. recently, what does he need to have with him when he lands, other than his passport, the visa, and his x-ray? all I can say is to have him double check his I-94. they messed mine up and is now the beginning of another hellish process to correct it.
