CanadaVaccinations needed
In Vancouver you needed to give the ... I know I had Chicken Pox disease, do I still need a blood test?
No. If you actually had the disease, verbal confirmation of the EXACT YEAR YYYY is acceptable.

We cannot accept approximations such as "under 12" or "when I was young". Please provide the EXACT YEAR YYYY.

If you aren't sure just get your GP to do a blood test for anti-bodies. It takes about a week to get it back.

You don't need the flu shot unless your in the age group requiring it according to Dr. Seiden's office.

CanadaMoving companies any RECENT thoughts and prices and reviews
Thanks everybody, I have so much stuff I'm trying to get rid of "some" of it. I have phoned a few places now and will find out prices and make a decision  If anything seems to be better I'll post it.

I did check Uhaul but for the price of driving it all the way to San Diego from Vancouver I think I'll find a different option.

Thanks

Jewel

CanadaMEDICAL REVIEW
Your welcome, I think the last people out after the exam was about 10 am. I'm sure you'll have no problem! I laugh about it now but all my worry makes me feel like I've aged 10 years ! So I really wanted to express how just being prepared is all you need to be.

CanadaMEDICAL REVIEW
Medical review ...my thoughts as well for others who may worry about the medical.:(

I have a past history of depression and surgeries. I also suffer from hypothyroidism which is on-going although my health is now good thankfully. Yet looking at the medical questionnaire and the word " CHRONIC " :unsure:I was unsure what they meant as some info I had found seemed to contraindicate what they wanted or needed. My own physician was also puzzled. She wondered what they were looking for?

I tried to obtain medical records of previous surgeries but they had been archived when I changed Dr.s, not forwarded as I had asked so I was troubled.:help: I contacted the hospitals for the exact dates and surgeon and prepared a letter from my current physician as to my current health and medications.

I was thankful I did as it made me more at ease for my medical exam and also had the information in hand the physician wanted and THANKFULLY I did not have to deal with having my case deferred.

THIS WAS THE INFORMATION THAT CONFUSED ME ...:reading: After waiting so long for this appt. it didn't take much as it held my future in the balance. fortunately my husband told me not to worry that no matter what we would work through it.

My thoughts now are : DON'T OVER THINK THIS EXAM ... IF YOUR HEALTHY THAT IS THE MAIN THING ... IF NOT CONTINUE WITH WHATEVER TREATMENT YOU NEED, THINGS WILL WORK OUT!

7. MEDICAL RECORDS (IF APPLICABLE)
Bring physician's letters regarding any current or past C H R O N I C illness, MAJOR surgeries or hospitalizations.
If your information is incomplete, YOUR CASE WILL BE DEFERRED.

Major surgery usually involves an overnight stay and/or anesthesia. Your records should include the reason for surgery, the outcome
and prognosis. Please note that C-section birth, appendectomy, arthroscopic knee surgery, breast implants or wisdom teeth removal are
not considered major surgery.

If you have a Chronic Illness EITHER PAST OR PRESENT, bring information about your diagnosis, treatment and current status of your condition.? Ensure you bring enough information to clearly outline your history and current condition or your case will be deferred until the proper information is received.

Patients who have previously tested positive for TB & HIV must bring good documentation regarding the current status and treatment records.

1. What do you mean by "Chronic Illness"?
Chronic illness is an ongoing condition such as diabetes, emphysema, asthma, etc.
If in any doubt, bring records or a letter from your Doctor about your condition, treatment and medication.
If you have previously tested positive for TB or HIV, you must bring good documentation about your current status and previous treatment records.

2. What do you mean by "Major Surgery"?
Major surgery usually involves anesthesia and/or overnight hospital stay. Major surgery records should include the reason for surgery,
the outcome and the prognosis. If in doubt, bring records; if your information is incomplete, your case will be deferred. Please note
that C-section birth, wisdom teeth removal, arthroscopic knee surgery, appendectomy or breast implants are not considered major surgery.

3. Do I need to bring a letter or medical history from my Doctor if I've never had a chronic illness or major surgery?
No. If you are in good health, you do NOT need a letter from your Doctor.

FOR ME IT WAS BETTER TO BE PREPARED AND SAFE THAN UNPREPARED AND SORRY:idea:

MY REVIEW.

With thanks to Philandjulie (F)I found that we should park in the lots behind the building where you can park for 13 dollars as opposed to horrible price in the underground.
I arrived at 6:10 am to find the doors had already been opened so I was number 14 in line. At 6:45 we were all told to line up in order and we were given the forms to fill out and sign. After turning those in we went in random order for our blood tests. At approximately 7:30 am we were called for A note for anyone with long hair, take something to tie it up, as the technician was looking for something for me to hold my hair up with...lol.

At approx. 8 am the Dr. started calling people in order by number for the exam. He was polite and asked me these questions : What does your husband do? Where are you going to live? What do you want to do when you get there?

I had given him my medical history in writing which he read, asked my to confirm the medications I was on. Asked me the names of the Dr.s who performed the surgeries, he knew of these Dr.s Asked about my health and that was it. The nurse who came in the exam room with me brought the papers with my medical history on it and said " we don't need to keep these".

I went out to have my height and weight done next and paid for the medical. The nurse at the front desk noticed I had depression ticked off on the form DS 2053 that they give you in the beginning to fill out. she asked if I had talked to the Dr. about it. I said yes that he had my notes. She said she would confirm this with him and that was it. I was done by 9:30.

I decided to go home and wait till 1:30 for my results. When I returned the room was full and one of the women I was talking with said my name had been called. I looked around the full room and thought, what was I missing? I got to the counter and she handed me my envelope and ex-ray. I was puzzled as I was way down on the list, and figured I would be one of the last they called. I asked if it was okay, she said YES you passed.
I felt like I was floating and had the biggest smile I've had on my face in awhile.:D :wow: I said goodbye to some of the people i had met and told them about VISA JOURNEY and the help it has been for me. The ones I talked to had hired lawyers and were waiting even longer than we had.

THANK YOU VISAJOURNEY FRIENDS!!!!!

I WAS MORE RELAXED ARRIVING AT THE APPT. THAN I WAS WAITING FOR THE DAY TO COME. I HOPE THIS INFO HELPS TO ALLEVIATE UNNECESSARY WORRIES YOU MAY HAVE.

Canada6-months after visa is issued
I asked if I was able to visit before moving down at my interview last Wednesday and the girl who did the interview said no. I had 6 months to make POE and activate my CR1 visa.

So I will be interested to see what others say about this. I had hoped to visit first so we could look for a new place to live, possibly buy before I move all my stuff there. There are a lot of rules during this whole process, so make sure before you decide.

All the best!

Your I-130 was approved in 157 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 414 days from your I-130 NOA1 date. There were some hic-cups with EP, they lost out OPTIN email and they didn't recognize the NEW long form birth certificate so we had to resend it with an explanation but it would have been faster than mailing it anyway.

Hence it took longer than it should have getting through NVC. Double check things before you send them, make sure you add the Cover sheet, and you'll be fine.

The wait is the agonizing part.

Moderators if this needs to be bumped somewhere please do.

If your waiting for DHL delivery of your passport the online site (http://www.usvisa-in...lfservice/login) isn't always accurate. The phone numbers you are given to contact for DHL at your interview will let you know if your visa is there. After waiting 5 business days I checked and the online site said nothing yet the number for calling and tracking let me know DHL had it my visa. They gave me the Waybill number to pick it up.

Hope this helps any one who is still waiting.

CanadaUsing a Nexus Card to Avoid POE
I thought I'd add to this post as yesterday I activated my visa for my move on the 28th. I also want a nexus pass.

I was told there would be no problem activating my visa CR1 and then moving. I have to move with my parrots and have them Vet checked so I didn't want another wait for activating the visa. We have a long drive to San Diego so the less time waiting the better.

I went to Peace Arch crossing in Blaine Washington yesterday to do this. I encountered a CBP agent who hassled me for not doing it when I moved. I was told " do you know the number of people who do this and never move ". I expressed that having gone through this process for over a year and a half that my intention IS moving to live with my husband or I never would have gone through this long wait. I also explained the reasons politely for doing it this way. He still hesitated. I then asked " is this allowed or not?" He then said yes and went to process it and then said I can't see you in the system. I thought I was going to throw up. After confirming all the info in my packet he said oh that is your husbands name, okay I will do it. Sometimes I wonder if they are on a power trip . I asked about NEXUS and YES you can pass with that.

Maybe at this time of year there are some unusually GRUMPY CPB agents . The couple who had the agent beside me had a very helpful agent I wished I had got him.

This should be a simple process with all the info they have by now!

CanadaDHL or Xpresspost for MTL consulate
You don't need to worry about not seeing your appt. as Canadiandggal explained. Choose a DHL location near you. When you are at the interview they will ask if you chose a DHL location and let them know where. You will receive your visa in your passport approximately 5 business days later. The sign-up is a bit confusing when you are given an interview date by NVC.

when you put all your information in it should bring you to a page that page of dhl locations and have a place to check one off.

If you cannot find it, call one of these numbers and tell them that you need to sign up for dhl but have been unable to pick a dhl location

Don't panic, I had the same issue. When you call tomorrow ask if its okay to give them your passport to track it. That's what they did here in Vancouver. It didn't show being shipped either and the reference number ,like you said doesn't correspond to the Waybill number they DHL need. It took the 5 business days to get it so if the holiday isn't counted you "should" get it by Wednesday :)

Yup call them back and give your Canadian passport info. They use your passport number to find you in the system not your case number ( at least that was my experience ).

I think they should find it for you. It should be here today. They ask for 5 biz days, so if not today tomorrow.
