It's overnight and not that bad, actually. :) I believe with the Auto Train you get a sleeper car so you can sleep. That 18hrs down went by pretty quickly for me.

Holy shmoley. I just checked the cost of the auto train. Besides the fact that it takes 5 hours longer than if we'd driven, the round trip cost for the dates we're thinking of going is $971!!! :o And that was with the AAA discount! No idea if there are taxes on top of that. I guess it's time to read the 36 page relocation manual to see what costs are covered. <_<

We had tomato soup and leftover ribs and chicken for dinner. lol

Taxes are included in the price. Yeah, $971 is expensive, but you are transporting your car. :P

It's a pretty nice train. :) Not too expensive, either.

Kri, it's okay. He's an oddball and I'm used to it, lol.

Dad is taking us out to dinner tonight, don't know where yet, though.

Krikit, thank you. :) It was okay, my dad left 1.5hrs after I got here which ticked off the rest of the family. I came into the downtown Orlando station. The train I was on doesn't stop in Sanford, only the Auto Train does. :)

lol, yep. My grandmother and aunt keep telling me to go to the sightseer lounge but I keep telling them I'm fine right where I am and that I don't particularly feel like socializing.

I was last there in March '09, but didn't see much as we were only there for 2 days.

Thanks Krikit. :D

I suspect you travel the way I do Mal, except you actually went in to a building to see something. When do you actually get to Florida again?

I'm the, okay, let's do this and get it over with type of traveler. You'd think with this experience I'd be snapping photos left right and center, nope, lol. I went into the LOC because it was open since nothing much else is here at the moment. I also don't know the layout at all of DC and it's close to the station.

Get there tomorrow at 1pm. 21hrs to go.

No adventures so far, really. Walked around DC for 1.5hrs when I got here. Ventured into the Library of Congress which was beautiful.

I'm not on the train at the moment. :P I'm in Chicago waiting for my DC train which leaves in an hour. Talking to hubby on Vent right now while we have the chance. Will board the train in 30 minutes.

lol, probably. I'm okay with them not being crispy, it's all about the taste and the garlic mayo!

Nah, I don't fry them. :\ I just coat them in olive oil, salt, and paprika then bake them for 20 minutes. I still haven't been able to perfect them and make them crispy, but they are still tasty. :)

If you're getting your complete nutrients through your veggie diet, you most likely won't crave meat. :) I'm glad it's working for you!

We're having mini burgers, yam fries, and salad for dinner tonight.

Don't go to the new one in Burnaby. It's really terrible - it really is like being in a sports bar now. sad.gif Y'know how the old one had all that private seating? Nope, not anymore. It's mostly all bench/chair seating.

They opened a new Keg in Burnaby that is terrible, actually. There is no ambiance, it's loud as hell, and the food is pretty blah. :\

Blah and it's new - so no hope there!

You know what I really hate (which has nothing to do with the Keg) - restaurant lighting where there is a bare bulb in the light fixture above the table, doesn't matter if it's Denny's or a upscale-ish restaurant - they think they are being hip and regardless it's a bare bulb - I always feel like they may interrogate me at any moment.

So that has nothing to do with dinner or the Keg. <wanders off>

What's even more sad was that there was a Keg there for a number of years, but they tore it down and moved it to just a few hundred feet further to the west so the new Costco could be built. The old Keg was good - loved the ambiance in the restaurant, was nice and darkish. sad.gif
