The gentleman at the service told me that there would be about 5 months before much of anything happens. When I started looking at Igor's list, I got all excited !! IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures	Igor's List	Hello to all, I was perusing some of the forums and found a post about Igor's list. I filed our I-129f in late July and got our NOA1 on August 6th. I know that the USCIS website and many others say to expect about 5 months for a NOA2. However, upon looking at many others timelines and also on Igor's list it looks like there is no ryme or reason to how long it takes to be approved. I see some that have been approved in as little as 30 days or so, and there are some that have took well over the projected 5 months. I can understand the approvals that took a bit longer maybe due to an RFE, or for someone who has a very common last name. I think if it were "ME" I would send the petition back to my SO in the US, have him put his John Hancock on it and then have him send it off. I am another one of those lucky guys that has to win the battle at the Ho Chi Minh City Consulate. So..... I would not take a single thing to chance. I had my papers prepared by a gentleman that is very experienced with this process. He prepared a very detailed 3 page cover letter that explained my intentions and was also much like a "table of contents" to everything that was enclosed. The petition was very meticulously sectioned and labled according to the cover letter and yes........ K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Forms To Take To Fiance On First Visit	Ok, I will give you my 1 and 1/2 cents worth. I am not a CO, so I have no idea how they think. But, if you have been talking with your SO for some time, you love each other and both agree that you are going to give this thing a whirl... Then of course you are going to be wanting to take care of some of the paperwork on your first visit. I mean really .... isnt that a sign that you plan on truly being commited to each other ?? If you had only been talking for a very short time together, then I would say it would be a good idea to wait untill your next visit. There could be many different ways to look at this situation. Let's say for example that you waited untill your third visit to start your papers. Would the CO ask him/her self " I wonder why they decided to wait soo long to start their paperwork.. was their relationship a little sketchy at first... was the USC soo gunshy of the benn. that he wanted to wait untill later to seal the deal. There are a bunch of ways you can look at this. In my situation, I did not know if I was going to be able to make three trips to Vietnam to see my SO. So, we waited till the last day of my first trip, wich was also 6 days after our engagement/Din Hon party to sign any papers.. (at least to show that we spent some time together before we started signing legal documents). Many people have told me that I put 2 strikes against us with doing these things on the first trip ( Din Hon and paperwork ). But, I wanted both the woman that I love and her parents to know that I was serious about getting the ball rolling. I think that these actions were the closest thing I could do (besides having a full blown Vietnamese wedding) prove to her and her parents that I was truly thinking long term. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	Do you edit your chat logs?	When I sent in our petition, I sent our Yahoo "chat logs" and a sample of about a half dozen of the actual conversations. I didn't edit anything from them. In our chats, my honey and I both call each other wife and husband and other pet names even thought we are not "married" yet. At first I was going to edit all the lines where we had used wife and husband. But, after thinking about it for a while I thought to myself ... " If these people are expecting a person to have a real relationship, then of course we are going to call each other husband and wife". After all, if you are engaged then the next step is to be married right? I know that most people get a bit scared thinking that the CO might get suspicious about their actual marital status. But seriously... if you have a good relationship together, of course you are going to call each other husband and wife and other pet names. And as far as the content of the chats, I didn't take anything out of them or cherry pick which chats I sent. I left all of our dirty talking and everything in them. I figured that the people that process the petition and the CO is going to be knee deep in our business any way, might as well give them something interesting to read !! BUT He's actually really not sure about when he'll come here...it may be middle of september or maybe even end of september..and it's kind of pissing me off! He is the only son and has all his responsibilities to take care of before he leaves everything behind. Anyway, they didn't give him any slip of any sort at the New Delhi Embassy. But he has his vfs office receipt. Does anybody know about how long it takes to receive it? Also, is that where he'll get his sealed envelope he's supposed to bring to the US? I emailed the Embassy regarding not receiving the packet 4 in the mail and they sent me a one page "packet 4" pdf letter stating when his interview is blah blah blah. Spoke to a very nice lady who took my name and telephone number and gave me her name as well, and said she'd email them to find out why mine was still sitting there and would try to call me back with any info. I just called CSC to find out if my paperwork has been sent to NVC yet (I called NVC earlier today and it had not been rec'd). I told her that although I'd received my NOA2 on 10/22..dated 10/18, the website had not been updated. She looked up my case number and said that I had in fact been approved, but my paperwork can remain in the mail staging area for up to 60 days and that NVC knows they're behind and will extend the dates if necessary. She said they wait and send out large crates at a time and that when the next crate was full, it'd probably be sent out. She was very pleasant, but said that she has no other information that she could give me, but I could call to check on it any time.
