quite possibly, ive watched enough episodes of 'bridezillas' to be 100% set on not having a big wedding....my family and very close friends will go out to a nice restaurant when adriano and i get hitched...i cant deal with all that hoopla, its just me though

Yeah, I agree, I do not want a big wedding, but I do want some of the traditional aspects of one in a small wedding. Although we haven't even begun thinking about it; city hall is as far as we've gotten. Is that what you're going to do, or will you have an officiant?

chai tea latte anybody?

want to sit down here or in the july-filer thread?

Well, I was thinking here b/c Jeraly had posted a link to come over here, and also this thread is much shorter, so it's not in danger of being closed anytime soon, like I think the July one will be.

mmm, chai. biggrin.gif

I know, there is thunder and lightning!

I was wondering where the party was too... guess it's just you and me Susie! But it's only lunch time here. :/

That is awesome that your P3 got to Adriano faster than expected. Ours got to Scott yesterday but he is a big ol' procrastinator and it's stressing the hell out of me! We made a deal that I can't get upset with him until Monday, and if he hasn't sent it by then, they I get to lose my sh*t.

haha, yea i was getting very annoyed with adriano because he tends to have the same procrastinating ways...i needed him to physically write me the name of his high school (for the form ds230 because i dont speak albanian)...all he had to do was write a text message with the information...it took him WEEKS to accomplish this task...this is the reason why it took me so long to mail him the damn packet!!!! lol im like 'sweety, ive been waiting a MONTH for you to write me one word!!!!' ranting33va.gif

ohmygosh, I sooo hear you. It's little things like that that are easy and fast to fix or do, but for some reason, they can't get on it. I get an email from our lawyer and the FIRST thing I want to do is take care of it! Especially if I have the info or answer or whatever. It's so frustrating to me.

*takes deep breath*

Now where's that Bailey's? tongue.gif

the express mail was much faster than i had expected it to be...they told me 6 days (i guess to cover their own asses), and it only took 4!!! how exciting!!! now he can bring the packet to the embassy next week!! yayyyyyy

where's the party?!?! blink.gif

i came in here expecting to see everyone poppin' bottles and what not!!!

where are the bottles?!?! ranting33va.gif

Ooo please post a review of Montreal after the interview!! We will be going there someday (if there's truly a God in heaven lol). I can't wait to see when your interview is going to be. I hope they're FAST!

Ugh... hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they are not fast at all. sad.gif Montreal is currently taking 4-6 months to hand out an interview date. And unlike some other embassies, they don't tell you 4-6 months in advance. They tell you approximately one month in advance, I believe, but I read a thread where the couple found out just 2 days before their interview. Montreal is messed up. Also, they don't put you in line for an interview until your Packet 3 has been sent in and received by them. So, technically speaking, I am not even in line for an interview yet. I hope to be in the next day or couple of days, as my SO was supposed to send out P3 today.

Gosh, I feel bad for you... you filed before us and you'll still have to wait all the extra time b/c of Montreal.

Well, hey, we can wait together. I'm gonna be here awhile longer. Stupid Montreal. Stupid Canadians (j/k!!).

6 days IS a longggg time for express mail...thats what my fiance gets for living in albania...oyy...yea the embassy in tirana is weird, because you have to mail in EVERYTHING...it sucks, because then it will almost always take longer to schedule an interview that way...the good thing is that everything is done now...all we have to do interview day is show up and hope for the best!

mmm baileys

That actually is kinda nice... I'm sure it'll take a load of stress off your shoulders come interview day! Me? I will be a giant ball of stress trying to make sure I have everything together. wacko.gif

What about you guys?

my financial documents (and virtually everything else short of his birth and police certificates) are currently in transit on their way to adriano in albania...the international express mail should take about 6 days, which means they *should* arrive on monday...hopefully, at that time, he can just walk over to the embassy and hand deliver (rather than mailing) it to speed things up a bit

best wishes!!

eek, I still have to gather some of my financial documents... but we don't need them till the interview, which is still months away, and since I'm self employed I'm hoping to get 2007's taxes into them. So I guess I shouldn't freak too much about that yet. (Actually working on taxes now... OCD)
6 days for express mail? That seems like such a long time!

URGENT HELP helpsmilie.gif

I am filling the DS-230 Part 1 But i am confuse because in the instructions says:

Mark questions that are not applicable, with N/A. I remember in the I-129 said "DO NOT WRITE N/A, WRITE NONE"

The Embassy sent me the forms which expire on the 7/31/2007
In the VJ forms is the same expire date. Is there an updated page?

helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

Thanks

Not sure about the expiration issue. Try contacting your embassydirectly about it.

As for N/A vs. None, I really don't think it's anything to stress about. I highly doubt an application would be denied because someone wrote "N/A" instead of "None". Either way, since you are filling out the DS-230 and its instructions tell you to write N/A, then write N/A. It's a different form than the I-129f, so what you wrote on the latter really doesn't pertain to the former, in my opinion.

I am glad that you told me about this thread!! I dont know exactly when my package is leaving from NVC or already left there... but I just tried to track it..... LOL Hopefully I will get it soon!

Thank you again!

If you call NVC they should be able to tell you the date your file left there. They were able to tell me mine, then through that tracking thread I was able to find it. Although I knew the exact date, I still had to play around a day or two around it on DHL's site to find it. But it worked. smile.gif

oh, and rae, yes it is absolutely absurd that we do not have the right to healthcare in this country...one of the many things that i hope will change in the coming years good.gif

Welcome back!
I agree, I hope things will change, and I will especially have hope if Hillary is elected. I know it's too much to ask for our entire system to be overhauled and redone, like it should be... but *so* many things could be improved upon. It's good to see it's an important debate right now, but I honestly only thing things will change under a Democrat. Here's to hoping.

I work in the healthcare field and US is one of the most advanced medically. Unfortunately, it's not always available (or affordable) to everyone. But free healthcare or govt sponsored healthcare isn't necessarily the best healthcare. I can only base this on people who live and worked under such a system. Anyhow, I hope that whoever comes in makes it a change for the better. Cuz the healthcare delivery crisis is only gonna get worse.

I did not mean to imply that gov't sponsored healthcare is necessarily better. However, I've also lived in Canada, and some things were a lot better, and some things were not. I know it's not a perfect system. But the US is one of the only (the only?) modernized western nations that does not provide its citizens with healthcare, and I think that says something.

Which, rae, is exactly why he's so nervous. Though I do know of some diabetic VJers who are here in the US after a successful K1 interview. I can't see why Griff would be any differnet. He's extremely well controlled with his diabetes and has a letter from his doctor saying so. I'm sure he'll be fine.

Thanks for the support everyone!

Ours was sent first to the beneficiary, and then a few days later our lawyer also received a copy.

Thst's what I tought. Makes more sense to go to the beneficiary first as he/she is in the same country.

Yes, but what makes the most sense is often not what this process adheres to! wacko.gif

But I hadn't thought of it in terms of the fact that the mail is simply most likely faster to the person in the same country as the embassy. Who knows, maybe they send them out at the same time, but the beneficiary is just more likely to receive it first.

To track through DHL do you get the tracking number for NVC? I didnt think to ? about that?! Thanks.

Try EXP 17 DEC 2007A (or change 17 to 18), and enter that number in "track by reference" on the DHL site.

And to be more specific, NVC does not give you your specific tracking number. When you track through DHL you are guessing that it's yours. But when I looked at mine there was only one to Montreal, so I figured it pretty much had to be mine.

We do not get notified. You don't have to be a pest, so much, in that they are actually nice when you call since it's not VSC (it's either NVC or DOS, depending on who you choose). I HATE having to use the phone, especially while I'm at work, but it's the one call I made, and it was relatively quick and definitely helpful.

I remember flying over to NY (short flight - only about 6-7 hours so not too bad) about six years ago or so and the people (adults) in front wanted to recline their seats (grr but ok) so I reclined mine and the people behind (adults) complained. So I spent the whole time more cramped than any of them and must admit had a few awkward "adjustments" to make myself comfortable which involved plenty of kicking, nudging and rearrangement to ensure that I was more "comfortable" laughing.gif whistling.gif

(actually I was just being a b!tch because it made me feel better... is that bad?!!?! Oh how much I have changed!!)

laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif
I say #### em!
If people behind me complained about me reclining my seat, I just might have to laugh in the faces or tell them where to go. I pay for my seat just like they do, ya know? So I don't think you were a ######, I think it's amazing you accomodated them!

And also, I think it's funny that you think flying across the Atlantic for 6-7 hours is a short flight. I know, everybody on here has different times, and it's not like going to Asia or Australia or anything... but my flight to Toronto is only an hour! laughing.gif

I'm normally quite sympathetic to children being on planes - I know their parents (most of the time) do their best and it only really annoys me if I have someone kicking the back of my seat (adults are equally as guilty) or if the parents are obviously just letting their kids run riot!!!

I think adults are 100% guilty, actually... whistling.gif

UMMMMM, no airplane ride with 3 kids. No, nay, never!!! Or maybe when they're a bit older, but for now, we fly solo! As for the grandparents, my Mom is the only one left and they are a handful for her on her own! I usually take the divide and conquer approach and find a different place for each of them!

Can I just say thank you? I hate it when people bring really young children (babies, really) onto planes.

They always get stuck crying in the seat behind me, or kicking my seat repeatedly. wacko.gif

Usually NVC would send out to the Embassy within a week. I'm not sure what's the hold up. Did you try calling NVC and to see if they had mailed it?

Yes, they just say Im in Administrative Processing...but its JSUT been a week... but what i dont understand is WHAT IS IT?? WHY am I in this?? When someone else approved after us...has come and gone out of NVC to the same embassy with similar situation???

Weedebz did, but she's from Scotland, not Cairo, so I have no idea if that would help you at all. You could try PMing her to see if she can give you any info. All I know is hers went really fast.

I just call it 'our first approval', and then if anyone asks, say 'we need a second approval, which we should get at my interview in a couple of months'

over-simplified, but at least people sort of get it wink.gif

Yeah, I kind of do that too. I tell people that first I have to ask for it, and they said yes, but now Scott has to ask for it, and we're waiting on that. Seems to work for most people. smile.gif
Sure does make it sound stupid though!
Oh wait... it is... headbonk.gif

lol, oh I totally know what you guys are talking about. It's just so much easier to share the excitement here, where people really get it.
But on my most recent trip to Canada, right after we got our NOA2, Scott told a few of his friends. We can tell people are happy b/c they can see we are happy, but they don't really have any understanding, and I can see it in their faces.
It just proves the whole damn thing is too complicated!!

I'm washing everything. All the clothing is being cleaned. Even everything in the closet, in an effort to make space for Sasha's clothes. Lora, I've got you beat. I've thrown away 8 large garbage bags full of old stuff, two sofas, 2 bags of old clothes, a broken typewriter, old camping gear. I've moved a large fish tank, recaulked the bathtub, cleaned behind the fridge, cleaned the carpet, ceiling fans, cut my hair, washed my Big Willie....(oh, I should mention that's our black Labrador's name). biggrin.gif

......And I'm only half way done! blink.gif

Still need to do all the dusting, clean the stairway, clean out my Explorer, scrub the toilet (fun), clean the oven, microwave, stock the fridge, clean the bedroom....Damn! Where has all the time gone?? And I'm working my job everyday through Sunday. I may not be able to finish, but I'll do my best. laughing.gif And I'm even cleaning in between posts.

hahaha, you are wasting it all here! wink.gif j/k!

LOL
I just got an email from Senator Clinton asking for more info regarding the letter/email I had sent to them months ago, whenever it was we were all sending letters! Ridiculous! I got my NOA2 at the end of November, and they are just now getting back to me about this?! whatever.

The same thing happened to me. I got an e-mail with the provacy notice for me to fill out so that they could look at my case. I said it was a little too late for that.

Did you actually respond to them with that?

I did yes.gif

nice! laughing.gif laughing.gif

So should I call the embassy or email them (I doubt they will answer) and ask if they got my case by giving them the case number NVC had given me on the letter???

THANKS TRINNER!!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
