K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsATTENTION JULY FILERS!
Hello everyone! I've been away for the past week and a half and so it's been nice catching up with this thread this morning.

To return to the dress topic for just a second... I want to have as green a wedding as possible, so I'll most likely get mine here:
olivialuca.com
You design your own and you can pick a fabric made of organic and/or fairtrade material, which I think is super cool. good.gif

that's really changed though... when we filed, we sent to Vermont, as instructed, so I had that in my timeline and was being told an estimated adjudication date of October 14... you filed AFTER us and are being told November 4; that's pretty crappy

Well, true, but my original date was earlier in October as well. I just don't remember the exact date. Now every day it just gets later and later. It better not slide into December.

The couples are allowed to be together through the process and the viewers would get to see how painful it is.

Aaah, but it would be so much less painful if we were allowed to be together! ;)

With the cost of filing now, they should offer free mints and a pillow for the wait!

I hear you! The fees are ridiculous now. They should pay for my wedding, too! ;)

Seriously, though, the increases are considerable. They should be hiring more people to take care of all the paperwork in a more timely manner. We shouldn't have to pay more AND wait longer.

If your boyfriend is a Canadian living in Toronto, why does your timeline list your consulate as "Armenia"?

Thanks for everyone's welcomes and helpful advice! I know I have to be patient, and we are all in the same boat... sometimes it's just hard to look at the long road ahead.

Hopefully I just fixed that Armenia thing. It's because as I set up my registration I left that field blank, and Armenia must be first alphabetically, so it just automatically picked it. Hopefully now it says Montreal.

P.S. Is there some way you can indicate a difference between the two embassies in Canada, ie: Montreal and Vancouver. Unfortunately we are going through the Montreal embassy in Canada which is currently taking over twice as long to assign interviews as Vancouver...AROUND 6 MONTHS at the moment! :crying:

Hello everyone.
I've been reading the forums for a couple weeks but have only just registered. So hi!

I have a question for you, Rick & Dixie: my boyfriend lives in Toronto. I thought that he would be able to have his interview there because there is a Consulate there. Do they only do interviews in Montreal and Vancouver? #######?! Where did you find the information that it's taking them 6 months (and what is that 6 months from, from NOA2 or even later?). I'm ready to cry reading this. Our lawyer told us that we may have as little as 1 month wait in Toronto between the petition and the visa, but clearly maybe she's wrong if he can't even have his interview there....

And on a side note, since this is my first time posting, I'm not sure if my timeline will automatically show up, but here's my info:

07.12.07 I-129 mailed
07.13.07 I-129F received
07.18.07 NAO1 notice
07.20.07 check cashed
07.22.07 touch

Thanks!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCurious about how long you've lived with SO.
I lived with my fiance in Canada for a year and a half, and consider myself very lucky to have been able to do so, as I know a lot of people here aren't able to do that.

I cannot wait until we live together again. biggrin.gif There's simply nothing better than sleeping next to the person you love every night. wub.gif

Thats weired, the VO should be able to exstend the petition as a matter of routine, they do with all petitions to china. Try calling the embassy.

Good luck good.gif

Montreal does not actually answer the phone!! ranting33va.gif

I have our lawyer looking into it. I hope she can get it straightened out. She had also told us it is a matter of routine and should not be a problem to get the extension, but I'm just worrried & annoyed b/c I know it was delivered 2 weeks ago and they are saying they don't have it.

Okay, officially freaking out now...

I tracked our Fedex of P3 back to Montreal and I know it arrived there on the morning of the 14th of March.

I just called DOS and they said Montreal sent out a letter to us today stating that our NOA2 expires tomorrow and they will destroy our case if we do not respond. They are not showing that they received our P3. I emailed them AND our lawyer emailed them in regards to the NOA2 expiry but they never got back to us.

I hate Montreal. helpsmilie.gif

I sent back packet 3 now but I am so ansy to get my interview date - having a phone aversion isn't that weird - I am like it as well although I have got better because all I do in work is phone people all day (not telemarketing - don't panic!!). Jeremy is the same but much worse than me - he even hates making calls to his family...

I don't like calling to order food, even if it's just a pizza. I don't like calling to make doctor appointments. I don't like calling any form of customer service (really, who does?) because you can sit on hold for hours and get nothing accomplished. Maybe it's customer service that's really done this to me. But I really just don't like calling strangers up! laughing.gif That said, DOS is on my list for today. biggrin.gif Okay, I have to get to work now! I am procrastinating here, which is dumb, considering I can be on this site all day while I am at work. tongue.gif

Rae did you try calling DOS to see if they know the interview date yet? I called earlier this week about our case & they said well...there's no interview scheduled yet (duh i know, we didn't even get packet 3) but Montreal received your case on the 17th and mailed packet 3 to your fiance on the 20th. So they must know interview dates when they're scheduled. I'm dying to know your interview date too!! It'll help me guage a little when ours will be too.

You know, I haven't -- I am notoriously bad with speaking with people on the phone (I just have an aversion to it; I know, it's weird). But I think you're right and I should try, so hopefully I'll get a chance to while I'm at work today. I emailed MTL when we sent our P3 back but I only received the automated response from them, and it tells you that if you email them more than once with the same question they simply will not respond at all, so I feel completely in the dark. I just wanted them to tell me they had received it (though I know they did b/c I tracked it) and that we are in fact in line for an interview. Bastards. lol
And I know what you mean; I keep checking the MTL spreadsheet to see the people ahead of me get theirs. It helps all of us to know when we're getting our dates. I am soooo anxious!!
So, is this info right:
DOS: # 202-663-1225 and press 1, 0
?
You two are still waiting on P3, right? Seems like it should get to you any day now. smile.gif

But, good news still: Scott had his medical today and got his police records ordered, which they say should arrive within 2 weeks.

I am such a planner though, I really just wish I could know our interview date! ARRRRGGGG!

looks like both scott and adriano need to get their @sses in gear....lets not give adriano credit where it is not due...i just spoke to him and he told me that he forgot to send in my financial documents (yes, in albania those have to be mailed in along with everything else)...in other words, hes officially INCOMPETENT mad.gif he will be mailing them out tomorrow...now my control freakishness is completely justified!!!!!!!

It is the sweetest deal ever...the movies in the city are like 11 or 12 bucks!! I'm never going to another theatre again, nor am I ever going to a movie on any day besides Tuesday or Thursday lol

edit: oh yea, and I heard the movie is awesome from several very credible sources (aka friends with good taste)

AND tell Scott I said to get his @ss in gear!!!

lol, I need to tell him that *I* say to get his @ss in gear! *sigh* That packet better go out today if it didn't yesterday, or I am going to lose my sh*t.
Anyhoo whistling.gif
The first showing of the day is also only $6.50. Well I'm not sure about the weekends, but during the week that is in effect. Cobble Hill rocks. biggrin.gif I also love that they show more films vs. movies, the kind of things I generally want to see. They are really awesome!

my boring office job is working as a secretary in a real estate office...i work on the upper east side and deal with all the super super rich people who want to open businesses in this neighborhood...it has nothing to do with my area of study (psychology), its just basically getting me through this year off that im taking...i CANNOT wait to get back to school....i will be going for psychology of language, and doing research in that area...most people dont really understand how, but research is creative in a lot of ways also...i decide what to study, and can create new findings from my studies, i think thats awesome lol what a nerd.

rae, that truly sucks about your camera, but now you have an excuse to get a nicer, fancy one! lol i actually have a pretty descent digital camera that i bought right before i went to florence for the first time...i was taking a photo class in italy, and thats kinda where my love began...recently the nice camera has started to piss me off though, because its too big to bring everywhere!! my brother bought me a crappy little point and shoot for christmas, and i bring that out with my friends and such...i save the nice camera for when its truly needed...are you from ny, or did you move here after college? where did you go to school?

For when you come back after the weekend...
Real estate in this city enthralls me (because it's rather ridiculous). I think I'd find your job interesting!

I want to do just what you explained... have the nicer camera for more special things like trips (they are big and bulky but the difference in quality is so amazing) and the point and shoot for outings with friends and stuff like that. So actually I want to replace the one that broke AND get a nicer one! Oy vei! $$ laughing.gif

I'm originally from Michigan, the Ann Arbor area. I actually moved here when I was 17 to go to college.... I went to Pratt. Loved NYC, loved Brooklyn, stayed. biggrin.gif What about you?

Wow - that is sooo cool - I was going to set up my own business before everything changed and I decided to move to the US - I did my final dissertation on the use of animation as a teaching tool in elementary schools - I've worked with children aged from 4-10 doing various types of stop-motion so I have a real (amateur) interest in it biggrin.gif How did you get into the field?

Oh that's cool!

I always knew I wanted to do something creative. I entered college as a drawing major with the plan to switch over to painting, quickly found out that I hate painting (and suck at it lol), and for whatever reason, switched over to computer graphics. So the type of animation I do is not actually cartoons or 3D movies. It's kinda hard to explain. But if you watch tv, you will notice that a lot of the stuff you see is not live footage, but graphics, and that's what I animate (like type, but it's a lot more than that).

Okay, okay, shameless plug, here is my website:

www.keenmedium.com

biggrin.gif

And you know, I always wonder how people get into their jobs/fields. Seems like so many people just "fall into" whatever they're doing. I've decided my dream job is to become a chocolate taster, but I'm not sure where to start.... wink.gif

your job definitely doesnt sound half bad though...definitely better than the boring office job that i currently hold...booooooooo...im going to grad school in the fall (not sure where yet, because im still waiting for those acceptance letters!), and would love to start doing some creative things on the side...i love photography, and would love to do some freelance work in that area...

at the current moment though, i am working with a friend on starting up a free-walking tour business in the city...any future tourists??? you know who to talk to!! woot woot!!

creative work coupled with being your own boss is always a great combination good.gif

Well said!

What is your boring office job? Well, if you're going back to school, then it doesn't matter, since you won't have to stay there, right?!

I also love photography. I took a few classes in college and would have actually loved to switch my major over to it but it probably would have cost me an extra year of school (and tuition $$$). I actually have an enlarger and so can do black and white stuff at home in my own bathroom... though I haven't used it in a few years. unsure.gif I want to get a really nice digital SLR this year -- especially since my little point and shoot Elph just crapped out! lol, you were close Susie. And I don't mind you asking at all Aly! I am an animator; I do animation for graphics for (mostly) tv.

I freelance, and while my hours are long and I work a ton, I also have a lot of freedom, and the money's not bad (I'd say it was good if I didn't live in NYC where a person can't even afford a studio apartment... but that's a whole other can of worms!). Last year I was able to take 4 vacations, and in that, I went to 3 new countries. Prior to being freelance, I slaved away doing the same thing and never travelled anywhere for basically 5 solid years.

I usually work in offices, but occasionally, like now, I get to work from home, which I dig.

But it does get hard, and sometimes I feel like it eats up my life (especially around the holidays)... I haven't been the to gym in forever and I also take a martial art and my attendance there is sucking.

But at least I don't have a boss! laughing.gif

yea, we will be going to city hall with my mom and probably my sister =)

i like the idea of a big wedding, but i dont like that it ends up being about everyone else, and not about the bride and groom...does that make sense? like the bride does all this stressing out and planning so the guests can have all the fun...thats how i feel anyways

35 sounds like a perfect number!!!!! smile.gif

my family is quite large, so even though i wont be having a wedding in a catering hall, there will still likely be about 40 people there...that would include my siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, first cousins and some very close friends

That makes a lot of sense. I agree that I don't want mine turning into that either. It'll be interesting, I'm sure, since I know my idea of what I want is going to differ with my future MIL's idea... but I stand firm in the belief that it is OUR day. She already had 2 weddings, damnit. laughing.gif

Are you going to go to Brooklyn or Manhattan City Hall?

Your talking about the size of your family reminds me of how every time I mentioned to someone close to me that we'd be going to City Hall, they would invite themselves. "can I come?!" I had to say to everyone that no one is allowed to come. Though Scott says he cannot tell his parents they are not allowed to come to our wedding, so I suppose parents have a pass to that rule. My only exception is one friend who I would really like to have as a bridesmaid, but she doesn't have her Greencard yet, so she can't risk leaving the States, and we may have our "real" ceremony later in Montreal. So I may want her as my witness.

And yeah, 35 is a nice small number. There are 30 people I think I would like to invite, but I have no clue on Scott's side... already larger than I'd like, but at least it won't be one of those huge hundreds of people things!

it think big weddings are scary. so many people staring at me.....HUH!!!!!

LOL... although I'm very shy, on occassion I actually like being the center of attention. What better day? wink.gif

But really I just want the few people in my life that I really care about there. I'm not one of those 250 guest wedding people, where like your parents are inviting their coworkers and stuff. So expensive!! I'd rather use that money for a great honeymoon or a down payment (or both).

quite possibly, ive watched enough episodes of 'bridezillas' to be 100% set on not having a big wedding....my family and very close friends will go out to a nice restaurant when adriano and i get hitched...i cant deal with all that hoopla, its just me though

Yeah, I agree, I do not want a big wedding, but I do want some of the traditional aspects of one in a small wedding. Although we haven't even begun thinking about it; city hall is as far as we've gotten. Is that what you're going to do, or will you have an officiant?
