IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long is the wait for CR1/IR1 Iterviews in Montreal

Hello Glady,
I am right behind you.... Definitely call NVC around June 15th... and check out the Canada forum
Let's keep each other updated!

All the best!
-- Karen

Since NVC schedules the IR1/CR1 interviews, are they normally scheduled quicker than if the montreal consulate scheduled it?! I know this is wishful thinking, just seeing if anyone knows.

Yes, from my personal experience, I would have to say that for CR1/IR1 interviews, it's scheduled quicker than K3 and K1 interviews in Montreal. That was in April of this year. I dont know if they're still keeping that up.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow long is the wait for CR1/IR1 Iterviews in Montreal

My case was completed on May 29th 2007 and i'm trying to get a sense of when to expect an interview. Also is there a possibility of changing Embassys this late in the game from montreal to vancouver?

hi GLady,

Congrats on your case being completed. From the date that your case has been completed, I think you will DEFINITELY get an interview date around July 13-15.... If I were you, I would call them around July 14.. and ask to see if a date has been assigned to you.. it will most probably be an interview date in AUGUST......

If you really wanna push it, you can also call on June 15 to see if you have a date for July... but because your case was completed end of May... people whose cases were completed between May 1 to May 28 are all ahead of u... if the spots were all given up.. then you'll have to wait for july... but if u're lucky.. u might get a date in July!

Call this friday....

my time line was: Feb 13, case completed... March 15.. got interview date for APril 13...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSo I think I've screwed up...
Yup. yes.gif

Her being able to visit you depends on what proof of stability she is able to show. If she lives on her own and has a job her case is much stronger and she's less likely to get through the border with less hassles. It really just boils down to the border officials thinking if she is coming down to live with you which makes things get ugly. I travel often (at least a few days a week) to visit my bf across the border and bring my mortgage and property tax statements and a year's worth of cable/electricity bills just in case they suspect anything fishy going on. So far I haven't been asked to show them but I am ready when they do.

Good luck!

you will be so much happier than you did it yourself. Make sure you keep all the evidence from DR. My fiance is also Dominican but he's from the states. His mother has seen a lot of couples file for the I130 on their own and it takes next to no time compared to filing to an attorney. Good luck! Keep posting if you need any help and everyone here is wonderful. They will all help you. Congrats on your wedding!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVSC transfer APPROVED! NOA2! Now what?

On June 19, 2013, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E). Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

God has answered my prayers!! Today we were finally approved!! I just wanted to share the good news with everyone. Our NOA1 date was January 17th so it took about 5 months! I'm one step closer to finally being with my fiance again.

I was starting to lose hope, I thought the transferred petitions were doomed to sit in a dark corner for months. I wish everyone goodluck and pray you all get a speedy approval! Things are looking up.

Now the question that's been asked a million times, now what? I'm going to start gathering paper work and getting everything together. I'm just wondering when can I schedule a medical and then interview? Its going to the Vancouver embassy. I've read you can call the NVC ahead of time? How do I got about doing that? andd how long am I looking at before I have the interview and visa in hand?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStuck between USCIS and NVC
Add me to your list. My NOA2 date was 04/30 and as of today, NVC has not received my petition yet. They said with the huge mixup of the petitions going to NRC (National Records Center) instead of NVC, that is the huge delay. NRC is for inactive files and USCIS has to re-requested the files back, review them, then send to NVC. BUT if you don't bug USCIS for status updates and find out that it is in fact at NRC, it will lay dorment there forever. So bug NVCResearch to pursue the tracking of your petition. I am at 2 months and still nothing. Very frustrating!

Approved may 2 2012 call NVC every day nothing should I be worry its a little over a month.

Did you go the California for your petition? If yes, you definitely should send a copy of your I-797 to NVCResearch@state.gov because your petition may be at the Records Center too! Seems like the late April to early May's approved petition ALL got send to the Records Center instead of Visa Center!

I will hit the 2-month mark tomorrow and STLL nothing! NVC has requested USCIS on June 11th a copy of the file (enroute to National Records Center). This is absolutely insane. What will happen if my Package 3 adn everything else is not completed by the "Approval Notice" which is 08/29/2012?

My NOA2 was approved on 04/30/2012. I emailed NVC and received this reply on 05/21/2012. Forward the NOA2 on 05/23/2012 and have not heard back due to the Long Weekend. Is this normal? Should I start downloading Package 3 from the Vancouver site to start the next set of paperwork?

"Dear Sir/Madam:

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your inquiry. Unfortunately, we do not have any record of receiving your petition. If your petition was approved more than 15 days ago, please email a scanned copy of your I-797 or I-171 Notice of Action - Approval Notice to NVCResearch@state.gov. Please type the receipt number in the subject line of your email and include one attachment/case per email. We will contact U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on your behalf to locate your petition."

No we haven't. USCIS just keeps giving us different answers! NVC has no records of the petition to date which means USCIS has continued to screw up and the case has not been retrieved from the Records Center yet. 4 weeks for a retrieval seems unreal! I have contacted the local Congressman & need to submit them all my communication with NVC before he'll start inquiring. 9 weeks have come & go! So sad.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsLost between USCIS & NVC
Is anyone else in the same boat as me? I am beyond frustrated and have no idea what to do.

My NOA2 was approved on 04/30. NVC has NOT received the petition and have been emailing USCIS for further information.

On 06/11: Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) contacted U.S. Citizenship Immigration Service (USCIS) in regards to your approved
petition. USCIS has informed us that your petition is currently in transit to the (NATIONAL RECORDS CENTER - NRC); once received at NRC,
USCIS (CSC) will request this file and advise NVC with status. Please allow ample time to USCIS to process your petition.

On 06/29: Petition still not received at NVC. The Agent advised me to contact USCIS as petitions that go to NRC, 99% of them are never retrieved by USCIS unless someone demands the files

On 07/01: USCIS said the petition was never forwarded to NVC as they do not send the files to NVC anymore but instead, it was forwarded to US Consulate in Canada.

Have NOT received any letters or emails or notifications of any sort since 04/30's NOA2.

My "approval notice" will expire on 08/29 - How do I request an extension? Does not appear Package 3 & 4 will be complete before the expiry date.

Hellllpppppp!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 in US - How long to receive Social Security Card and Green Card
Ugh, sorry to hear that you are going through this, too. I also checked off the box to have my SSN mailed to me. It's been about 5 weeks. I received my green card after about 3-4 weeks but still no SSN. I called the number on one of the welcome notices that tells you to call if you haven't received the SSN within 3 weeks but no one there can help you unless you already have an SSN#. It took a good 15 minutes for the representative to understand what I was actually calling about.

Looks like I'll have to go to the office on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here) to see if I'm in SAVE. Good luck!

*dies* My congressperson told me that realistically this should take a year. USCIS is ####### and underfunded and if we push now they'll just ignore them. A YEAR. And I can call back in a month if I haven't heard anything.

%#*&#$%

#### that. I think that type of response is just to try to get you to stop bugging them, because they don't want to be bothered.

"Realistically" or not, their service commitment says 6 months. (Also we know from VJ statistics that one year is in fact not realistic). Call your congressperson back now and remind them of this. And if they say they'll be ignored by them "pushing" USCIS now, well, at least they tried, instead of sitting on their arses saying "this won't help any."

F*ckers. They totally just wanted to get rid of you. Get back on 'em.

You don't actually *need* to call NVC for anything, but if you want to find out the dates they received and sent out your file to the embassy to fill in on your timeline, I'd say you could call NVC soon, today or in a couple days. Since you got a letter through snail mail, I'm guessing your NOA2 is already at least a couple days old, and Vermont is pretty fast with sending to NVC. I got my NOA2 via email; I waited one week exactly, and within that time my file was sent to NVC and on to Montreal.

Wooooohooo! It's nice to see someone who has waited so damn long get approved.

didn't they approve something like 40 VJ petitions last week? which, if the stats are right, and VJ represents around 2-3% of the total, is a HELL of a lot of petitions - more than 2000

VSC deserved slagging a month or two back, when we had that disgraceful trickle of a couple of approvals a week... I don't think they deserve much slagging now smile.gif

Well... they may be approving petitions, but they are obviously not in order since there are still quite a few people from June, a few from May.... I know if I were one of them, I'd certainly be saying that VSC still sucks booty.
