K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStarting our K1 journey

Hi,

I'm newbie also here but we welcome you here. I'm now on the process of compiling the documents after I received the packet 3 requirements from Consulate where I'm working. I know it will be a long journey like us here but hopefully you'll be just fine. As other fellow VJ members says, live your normal life like everyday. Don't fall into obsession, don't turn into the dark side...lol...may the force be with you...

regards,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Visa Process (Police Certificates)

I believe you need a new Police cert.  However, if your passport doesn't show you've been there since they may take it.  I'll let someone else chime in.

Hi Watdog,

Thanks for your input. In the form DS-156, I need to include all the countries that I have lived for more than 6 months. If i removed this in the detail, it would seem that I'm lying on my information. For all I know they're very particular and specific by details and I believe they have this super secret biodata for any person (so they'll know if anybody is lying). So even before I reach my interview date, 95% of it has been already decided if I'll pass or not. This interview seems to be just a formality.

Anyway, I'll take the new Police cert even if I reach the edge of the world....lol....for the sake of love...

Thank you so much,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Visa Process (Police Certificates)

Dear VJ Members,

I'm currently compiling the requirements for Packet 3 to be submitted to US Consulate here in Doha, Qatar prior to my interview. Just need a help on one (1) item.

Police Certificates

- Qatar (On-application & on-process)

- Home Country (On-application & on-process)

- Any Country you have lived for 6 months or more (note: I have my old scanned copy of Police Clearance from Dubai, UAE before I left the country. Can I submit this copy? I have not been in Dubai since 2010 and I have check the website and tried to apply online but won't allow online payment. I'm really having a hard time securing new certificate from other country that I have lived. Any actual or similar situation from fellow VJ members here. Your utmost advise will be appreciated.

Thanks

Ramil G.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNo letter received from NVC but it`s READY on my consulate ???

We got our case numbers and were told that by midweek we will get our interview date! I'm not holding my breath but hoping that it is soon. I REALLY hoped to have my guy here before Christmas but I'm thinking I might have to wait. How is everyone here doing?

Hi Bamellis,

Your first post in CEAC was similar to mine. After I received our case # with the same status "READY" and same quote content, I got my packet 3 via email after 3 weeks from Consulate. This email contains list of things to obtain and official forms issued by Consulate. This includes also your medical exam if you haven't taken it yet, police certificates, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-230, other supporting documents, etc. This is what I got here in Doha, Qatar, unless it's different there in Brazil.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Processing

Hi everyone, just want to ask regarding K1 processing. My Fiance had received already a noticed that his petition was approved with the Manila Case No. Please advise if do i have to wait the noticed before scheduling my medical exam and pay my visa application or i can proceed now. Its been 3 weeks already since we received the noticed. Thank you and God bless u!

Hi jm76,

Hope your doing fine. Anyway, on your query, could you check your case # here at the link. https://ceac.state.g...AKjMWCuebHqOw==

This will tell you the status of your case. Hope this will help you.

If you received another packet or notification from the Consulate with instruction, I believe this is what you need to do, because there are some forms that the Consulate only issue officially thru mail or email. Mine here in Qatar, i received my packet instruction and forms via email after 4 weeks since NVC sent the packet to Consulate.

Hi,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed Advise on POE via K1 Visa

Personally I would do cargo shipment on those items and just carry normal luggage. Plus you will pay good amount of money to airline for extra baggage, so it might be good option to find out cost of cargo shipment at your fiance address.

Yes, originally I was planning on shipping my cargo but it seems extra luggage is much cheaper than shipping. Cost of per extra luggage is $120 with a max wt. 23 kg. rather than shipping costing $5,205 for 100 kg.(quotation from cargo shipping)

Any,way thanks for your kind advise.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNeed Advise on POE via K1 Visa

Hi all,

Need some advise, I just recently got approved on K1 and got my visa. Since I'll be travelling to US and bringing all my stuff. Is there any advise based on your own experience at POE to US Customs. I know there's a form to be filled up because I've been visiting US fr quite sometime but this time I'll be going there as an Immigrant via K1. Are they going to taxed my things like items that I have watches, speaker system, LED TV, other electronic devices. Note that all this items are used and not brand new. Is there any exemption for Immigrant?

any relevant advise will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsForgot to Include Photos

Actually, I had the I-129F Instructions opened on my computer and just as I was going to close everything I saw this. It probably best addresses your situation.  It looks like they may either reject it outright or they will request the missing information.  But if they reject it you should have a right to appeal it.  Maybe you should call them next week and just ask.

Initial Processing

Once Form I-129F has been accepted, it will be checked for completeness, including submission of the required initial evidence.  If you do not completely fill out the form, or file it without required initial evidence, you will not establish a basis for eligibility, and we may deny your Form I-129F.

Requests for More Information or Interview

We may request more information or evidence, or we may request that you appear at a USCIS office for an interview.  We may also request that you submit the originals of any copy.  We will return these originals when they are no longer required.

Decision

You will be notified as to whether you have established that your spouse is eligible for the requested classification.  If your petition is denied, you will also be provided with information regarding appeal rights and procedures.

Hi,

This just  an info and your right, they might and might not. Usually the rejection comes form not filling out the form correctly or misinformation about the two of you. Photos and picture are also considered as substantiation about your relationship. As I have mentioned the CO will determine if your relationship is valid or fraud. So don't worry too much. I haven't come across any VJ members here being denied by forgetting to submit photo's. I'm pretty sure they'll contact you once they require it, otherwise just bring it on your interview date. Ours didn't forget to submit the photos but on my interview, they did not even bother to look at any of our photos which I brought a bunch (lol)

If the review officer is satisfied with your supporting documents even with or without the photos. Remember the USCIS has other means of checking your background. Just pray that things will goes well.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 Interview in Qatar Approved!!!

Hi All,

I just wanna share my interview experience here in Doha, Qatar. My Interview only lasted within 5 mins and my waiting time prior to my interview lasted for 2 hours. What a relief. as most VJ members share here that most of all the interviews may have been already pre-determined even before the time of our interview (approved or denied). They ask me a couple of random questions that was not as hard as it is.

1. Does your fiancee live here? (CO is asking in my Country of residence)

2. Where did you meet?

3. Did your fiancee met your son? (I had a previous son on my ex-wife)

4. Where are you planning to get married?

5. What kind of wedding civil or church?

5. Are your parents coming to US on our wedding?

After I answered all those question, the CO congratulates me. It was a happy feeling with getting nervous. Of-course, I thank the CO, although I had a hunch that he's asking formality questions. Again, I thank you all here and God. Now next stage POE. Need to buy ticket and resign at my worked. I hope my boss will not be angry that I'm giving up my work for love. lol..

Middle East and North AfricaImmigrant visa approval process after interview in Qatar

Oh ok. So, how long did it take for them to call you after the interview? I am certain that the reason for the delay is his police clearance not being ready at the time of interview. So, your case may be different. But I just want to get a ballpark idea of when he may be notified. The daily suspense is killing me.

Hi,

Sorry for my late response. Anyway, after my interview and I passed, they took my passport and the CO told me to collect it after 2 days at the gate. But just to let you know on the time of my interview, there was an another guy who also passed the same time with me but he doesn't have his NBI clearance from Phils. He told the CO that he'll submit it after 2 days. After he submitted he got his passport back with visa after a week.

Regards.

PhilippinesInterview Experience
Now that I confirmed my visa was approved, I want to share to you my visa interview experience :)

My interview appointment was last December 27, 2012, 7:30am. I stayed at Bayview Park Hotel just across USEM. I woke up 4:45am to get ready and went downstairs to eat breakfast about 6am, then left the hotel about 6:30am. When I got into the US embassy, there was a long line but the guard told me not to fall in line anymore and just go straight to the 3rd door. When I was about to have my bags scanned, the lady guard laughed and was amazed how I was able to carry 2 heavy bags and even joked me that I brought my cabinet. She again scanned my other bag and said "Oh, it was a rosary" and smiled. She then instructed me to go to the 1st booth. I saw a note saying I have to show my appointment letter. When it was my turn I gave the lady my appointment letter, then she asked me if my papers were arranged outside, I said no, she then said I have to go back outside and let my papers be arranged by the ladies in blue. and I was like, ok I have no choice. I went back outside and told the guard about it, he said, how come cause nobody is there to arrange papers for the K1, that the ladies in blue and the line there is for another kind of visa, then he said, don't fall in line, go straight to the lady in blue and ask. So as instructed, that's what I did. The lady then asked for my DS 156 (2 copies), DS 156K (1 copy), DS 157 (2 copies) and appointment letter, arranged it and gave me a zip lock. I went inside the 3rd door again and Xray, then gave my arranged papers on the booth with my passport but she told me just to hold on to it. She stapled my papers, handed me my lucky number: 6081 and told me to drop off the papers at window 39 and wait for my number to be flashed on the screen. Then my anxiety began.

When I got inside there was another security check then dropped off my papers at window 39 at around 6:50am. I then saw my other 2 friends Chay and Rizza who are also VJ members and sat down next to them while waiting. I also put my passport inside the zip lock with the biographic page open.

FINGER PRINT SCAN

My number first flashed around 7:30 am at window 43, it was an american guy about mid 20's who did my finger print scan. He asked me for my name and date of birth and to put my 4 fingers left and right first followed by two thumbs together. Then asked me to sit down again and wait for my number to be flashed.

The waiting was not really bad since time seems so fast for me but the thing is you really have to be attentive in watching your number. As I was waiting, I constantly prayed.

INTERVIEW WITH THE FILIPINO CONSUL

I saw my number flashed again around 9:30am at window 47. A Filipino guy about mid 40's. He asked for my passport, NSO birth certificate,NBI clearance, CENOMAR, my fiance's I-134, ITR, W2, he didn't ask me what year so I gave all what I have, from 2009-2011, I also handed him my fiance's tax transcript. He then told me my answer on DS 157 item number 10 was wrong and told me to think of what correct answer should I put there, and I was shaking thinking what that was. He then checked all the blanks that I have to fill in and erased my answer in item #10 with a white out and instructed me to complete them all. The item # 10 was: List all countries that have issued you a passport, I put NONE and I was like, holy #######! what the heck did I do? I then told him, I'm sorry sir, I misunderstood the question and I'm so lucky he was nice, I corrected the papers, filled in the others and handed it back to him. He asked me these questions:
1. What's my current job, I said I'm unemployed. He then asked, how about your last job? I said I'm a nurse. His follow up questions were: Am I a registered nurse? Did I work as a volunteer or an employed nurse?
2. Who is my petitioner?
3. When is his birthday?
4. How did we meet?
5. When did we first meet?
6. How many times did he visit?
7. The date of his first visit.
8. The date of his 2nd visit.
He asked me to show him some of our pictures, just about 2 pages, then instructed me to sit down and wait for my number again and closed his window. I then said "thank you sir" in a loud voice and he responded back :)

INTERVIEW WITH THE AMERICAN CONSUL

9:40 am my number flashed at window 64. My lucky american consul was a guy about mid 30's. He greeted me good morning and asked how am I doing, I then responded as I was smiling :)) Then he asked me to raise my right hand for the oath and started to ask me these questions:
1. Who is my petitioner?
2. Where does he live?
3. How did we meet? (He laughed at my answer, I don't know which part was funny) :))
4. When did we first meet?
5. How many times did he visit? I said 5 times and he said, wow! that's great!!!
6. He also asked me, are you going to get married here? then I said, sir our plan is to get married in the United States within the 90 days of my arrival. Then he said, "Exactly, that's what you have to do or else your visa will be revoked and be sent back to the Philippines" ...and I was like, is that a hint?
He then asked for our pictures and told me "your papers look good, we'll review it in a while and just go back to your seat and wait for your number to be flashed for the instructions". I then smiled and thanked him.

FINAL INSTRUCTION

My number was flashed at window 73 by 9:50 am. The lady told me I can go home and just wait for their text if they need anything else or wait at home for the delivery and that she cannot give me exact time frame for it. I then asked how come it's home delivery since I chose pick up. She then instructed me to go to window 69 to ask. The nice lady told me if I arranged "pick up" online then just wait for the text of 2go of when I can pick up the visa. They didn't give me anything and kept my passport.

I left the embassy confused if I was approved. but I rejoiced and was so positive I got approved! called my fiance immediately when I got back at the hotel. I asked some friends, searched for previous posts and found out how to check the visa status online and I was relieved when I saw my visa status: Your visa has been printed. Depending on local procedures at the location where you interviewed, your visa will be mailed or available for pickup soon. If there are further questions, or if we need updated contact information, you will be contacted.

I'm approved right? :) I just wanted to thank VJ for this site has been my bible from the start, met friends, learned a lot and will continue to be here for more to come in this entire journey. Special thanks to Joy and Richie, Mike and Tin, Hank, Todd and Jessa, and to those of you whom I asked for help and to those who are very open to their own experiences, I really consider VJ as one of my blessings in our journey. and above all to God, who has been my refuge and strength in my everyday life. To everyone, good luck, God bless, and may we all have a very prosperous new year with our loved ones!

Philippinespaying for the other fees. who pays?

I would seriously reconsider this whole thing though if you two cannot agree to finances this early in the game, as agreeing on finances are a major issue THROUGHOUT marriage, and it is best to discuss and establish expectations early on them.

He'll be needing to support you fully for the first year in America at least, for starters.

Strongly agree!!!

Philippinespaying for the other fees. who pays?
My fiancé paid for every expenses since we started the process. I mean it doesn't matter who pays as long as you have proper communication regarding this matter. It's all about starting a new life and we won't decide on anything as serious as this - to be with the one you love for the rest of your life if you're not ready yet, right? So I suppose when your fiancé proposed to you he might as well have anticipated to be prepared in all aspects. I would suggest to talk it over with your fiancé in a right manner so you both can figure out how to make things work. Good luck and God bless on your journey!

PhilippinesGot a HIT on NBI CLEARANCE
I have friends who encountered the same thing as yours in getting NBI clearance, even though their names were not that common at all. So I guess it couldn't be your phone bill, so relax, I think you'll be fine. About how to get it before the said date, one of my friends paid an amount to a fixer and had her NBI clearance in a day, and the sad thing is that the fixer is an employee at NBI.

note: dont make it appear as bribe or trying to bribe tho just ask if there is anything they or you can do to speed it up a little bit because you need it so bad ;)

true that! that's what exactly my friend did.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsworried :(

Hi there !:) Sorry to hear about the status of your K-1 petition. 6 months is still under normal processing time. However, it is surprising to note why he didn't get NOA1. NOA1 comes out within 2-3 weeks at most from filing date. Then your case number is reflected there so you could track the status online at USCIS website.

If you have noted there are some cases who got approved (NOA2) earlier like in 2-4 months. I hope you could extract more accurate information from your Fiance. I'm not sure how USCIS could track it, but, it is worth trying I guess. Hope to hear some good news then. God bless you dear. :)

I believe that 6 months of waiting is still acceptable as to waiting time but what I got worried about is not getting the NOA1 yet, and just finding out about getting this after 6 months we filed the application. We don't even know how to track where our application now is :(

Thank u! I still believe in miracles :)
TatTotFemalePhilippines2012-03-06 23:44:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsworried :(

Its kinda sad that you just finding this things out after 6 months of waiting; most money orders are traceable and can be refunded as long as you have the original receipt of the transactions . Also it might be helpful to read the 1-29F Instructions before sending any documents and money . I suggest that you talk to your fiancé and asked him all the whys and what not so you can start gathering all info before you call USCIS

My fiance and I were talking about this a lot lately and yes, it's sad that we only found out about these things after 6 months. We followed everything in the instructions before sending it it's just that we never knew about getting NOA1 few days after sending the application. We're both worried and we're both asking whys and how come, and you're right, we need to gather everything before calling USCIS! Thanks!

Thank goodness! I'd try giving the issuer of the money
order a call and see if it's been cashed or not.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsworried :(

If he sent cash with the petition/application, then
it probably got stolen by a postal employee.
You should always send the fees in the form of a
check or money order. There's no way to trace cash.

I mean in the form of money order, not cash.
TatTotFemalePhilippines2012-03-06 10:52:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsworried :(

So you don't know your receipt number since you didn't receive the NOA1. Was your check cashed? I would say schedule an infopass appointment to find out what is happenning. It could be that the application was sent to the wrong address and the USCIS never received it.

I just knew last Feb that you can check the status of your application online thru the receipt number, and that's when I found out he never received a receipt number. I was thinking of so many maybes already like maybe he haven't noticed anything being sent to him like when I sent him a surprise package, he didn't know that he has to pick it up from the post office until I asked him if he received it. What do u mean by infopass appointment? I was also thinking that maybe he sent it to a different address, but if it was, they should have sent him a notice telling him the package was not sent to the right address, isn't it?
TatTotFemalePhilippines2012-03-06 10:42:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsworried :(

A few more details may help. Where did he submit it? Did he keep copies of the application and all the enclosures? Did he pay by check and was it cashed?

My fiance is from California so I believe he submitted it in California Service Center. He did make copies of everything he sent and I think he paid it in cash. We don't know what to do now. If I call the USCIS will it help our case? thank u for the reply!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsworried :(
Hi everyone,

My fiance submitted the application August 31, 2011. He asked help from his friend who also did this and was told to download the forms, submit it and just wait for few months until be given a notice that the application is approved and wait until I will be scheduled for medical and interview.

It has been 6 months and 6 days now. It was only last February since I started looking into this website and found out that he needs to receive the NOA1 from the 1st 30days he submitted the application. I then asked my fiance if he received any but he was sure he did not. We both didn't know about it and now we are worrying too much why we have not received the NOA1 yet. Does anyone know what we should do or any suggestions about our case?

Thank you very much guys!
