What are some of your favorite dishes that your mom makes?

~ pangga

my mom's adobo is the best for me and my hubby, her tinola, her sinigang, her ginataang isda and lotsa. but there is a certain ulam that i only eat if she is the one who cooked it, and that is "tortang talong". aside from my mom's cooking i also miss paotsin, jollibee's cheesy fries and chicken joy, shawarma, pizza hut's cheesy puffs and alfredo, red ice tea ng tokyo tokyo, baked zitti at chicago pizza ng sbarro, fishball, siomai, squid balls, tuknene at taho.

pahabol:
chicken inasal, lechon paksiw , mango at my all time fave na kare kare

PhilippinesWhat can we expect at the AOS interview?
Thanks for this info  :)

Hi, I had my AOS interview couple years ago mostly documents provided are cards, letters address to you and/or your wife. Just a note, provide copies since the CO will ask originals and photocopies to compare authenticity. If you have no copies they will keep the original documents. Here's what we provided during our interview in Washington DC.

  • Marriage Papers such us marriage license and certificate
  • greeting cards address to both names
  • letters address to both names (some are just my name showing our home address)
  • joint bank account summary
  • bills address to both
  • wedding pictures/ scrapbook/travel pictures/ travel itineraries including airlines (if any)
  • passport and any govt issued ID (had my state ID and SSN card)
  • phone bills showing both our phone numbers
  • utility bills
  • W2 and other IRS paperwork
  • insurance policy showing beneficiary
  • paycheck (surprisingly, the consul asked for it am glad I brought some with me)

questions asked:

---- The consul gave each of us a questionnaire, mostly personal information (CO compared our answers) about your spouse such as:

  • Date of Birth
  • Place of Birth
  • Date of Marriage
  • Children if any
  • Previous marriage if any
  • Home Address
  • What time does hubby/wife go to work
  • How far is work from home
  • Where does hubby/wife work (company and City)
  • What was your dinner last night?
  • Did you have dinner together?

Hope that helps. Our CO was nice and friendly she looked at every page in our album and the captions. She even read the cards in our scrapbook. After that she printed an approval letter for me and a reminder letter when to apply for removing condition, she even highlighted the dates.

PhilippinesVJ with Foreigner Hubby / Fiancee/Boyfriend

I was not going to post on this topic because i was afraid it would be jaded because of my experience with perviz...some of you know my story some do not but as i kept reading i felt maybe my story might help her some

i am the USA and perviz was from India..we were engaged for five years..he like ur American bf did not text often or chat often and was not available for phone often...now that our relationship is finished i find him ALWAYS on line either by cell phone or pc...i excused it because of his work and accepted his reasons easily....here is the flat truth if a guy is in love with you, nothing is going to stop him from contacting you one way or the other really think long and hard about this relationship if it does not mean as much to him to hear ur sweet voice or spend time talking with you about ur future or just the kind of day that you had then there is something missing in ur relationship do you want a life time of that? .....i wont go on and on because i don't want to sound bitter because im not im happy i found out what he was before we married and had children

just make sure this guy is the kind that is going to be there for you even if things get tough and that he wants to make u feel like your his world as ur trying to make him feel

sara

I am sorry to what happened. I didn't know that this is how your relationship ended after all the hopes and waits you had. God is good and I know that he will send the right man for you in HIS time. Be strong (although I know you are). (F)

Philippinescivil marriage question

As I posted before> i "gave" the judge P1000. He was worth every centavo and then some. He didn't ask for ANYTHING but he was a LOT of fun and added a LOT to the ceremony with his joking.
Example. He mentioned: Mister Jack> Will you really take care of your wife "in sickness and health" and even change dirty diapers if the need arises?
I answered> Only if I can't find someone I can hire to do so!

Philippinescivil marriage question
I believe that the cost of Civil Marriage in the Philippines varies and depends on where you want to get married. To give you an idea, in Manila, it cost Php500 for the judge and Php300 for license including some other paper works (excluding NSO Marriage Cert.) Just a tip, beware of fixers. They will pull your arm and leg with the money they would ask to arrange your marriage and paper works. They would ask for thousands of pesos.

I noticed on your profile that you are filing for K1? If you are planning to get married in the PH then K1 is not the right visa to apply. You should apply for K3 or CR1 :)

Good Luck on your visa journey! :)

Hello to all pinays here who travel to USA...I planned to leave last week of this month to USA and i a losing hope of sending my things in the courier here in PI most of them give me vauge answer... I need your help now guys, I was thinking na lang to bring my balikbayan box with me, the dimension of the box is 20''x20'x20 and it weight about 33 lbs . it is possible to bring it with me and have it checked in? how much do you think will be the cost for the extra baggage and its excess? hope someone tried this path and share some info...thanks in advance.

i just returned from the phils 2 days ago. on asiana airlines u r allowed to bring to boxes not exceeding 50 pounds each. and a carry on bag i believe it was no moe than 20 pounds. remember no meats, vegies, fruits, seeds and u should be good. u.s. customs did open and go through my box in my presence so be ready and aware of everything in your boxes. i hope this helps.

my husband brought longganisa and tuyo back to US the last time.. and i want to bring Pampanga's Best tocino also when i leave.. do they really open ur boxes?

How did your husband able to bring longganisa? was it cooked already? i am just curious smile.gif

baught fresh from the market, wrapped tightly with newspaper and packaging tape..even the tuyo..hehe
he braught balikbayan box back to the US with all our wedding gifts.... inipit ko kung longganisa and tuyo, ung talagang tagong tago...
he is a USC, but i am not so im still worried if they will check my box,i really want to bring tocino...

PhilippinesBalikbayan Box in the plane
I used 1 balikbayan box and I have 1 luggage and as of my hand carry, I have 1 big purse. The size of my balikbayan box is the same as yours but I bought this balikbayan box cover from balikbayan gear.

I think I paid Php700 for that cover pero it is sulit naman kasi i don't need to put packaging tape around the box to protect it saka incase na may question sayo ang custom kung ano laman ng box mo eh you can easily open it. It is hassle free as you can just unzip the cover and open the box unlike if you are just using the box eh you need to put packaging tape again after the custom's inspection but i hope na syempre na wala kang maencounter na custom prob star_smile.gif

There is a cover that has 4 wheels at the bottom so you can easily just pull your box and that is more convenient. It cost Php1500 so it is double the price. But what I did to save is that I bought that Php700 cover and my dad just bought 4 wheels in the hardware and he installed it at the bottom part biggrin.gif I think I paid Php100 for those 4 wheels. O di ba nakasave? tongue.gif I saw kasi kung ano yung itsura ng wheels so I know what kind of wheels to buy. Yung wheels nya eh yung prang sa cabinet or drawer na wheels. Maybe you'll think na it is kinda pricey pero the quality of it is sturdy naman at talgang pangmahabang byahe at pwede po pa naman cya gamitin ng maraming beses and I find it very convenient in traveling.

Oh btw, here is their website. I bought mine in SM. Their product was also featured on tv.

Anyways, i think i should stop na as I look like one of their endorser na laughing.gif I am just one of their satisfied customer lang po tongue.gif biggrin.gif

PhilippinesMagic Jack

Magic Jack charges long distance costs for international calling, if you have a USA area code, they think your in USA, so calls are free

Your family can do it, they can register for a U.S. number basta they have a good Internet connection. No need for you to configure it for them. I set it up myself when my husband and I first used it. It works best on broadband connection and if you have the MagicJack unit plugged into a powered USB hub.

Thanks to both of you :)

o0pink0oFemalePhilippines2010-10-08 18:54:00
PhilippinesMagic Jack

You Should get a USA telephone Area Code Assigned to Magic Jack Before Connecting it in Philippines.

What do you mean by that? You have to configure your Magic Jack first here in the US before you send it to the Philippines? Sorry, I don't know anything much about Magic Jack. We are using Vonage right now but I am thinking of sending Magic Jack in the PH as their backup phone.
