I did contact "The Work Number" and they did understand the level and type of documentation required by USCIS. I was told me that my employer has not paid for or contracted with them to provide that level of documentation.

The local HR office is so parinoid that they may say something that might have a negative impact and open them to a law suit that they have refused to directly provide anything unless ordered by the courts.

I maybe able to get a mid level supervisor to sign a document but something from HR does not look good.


This is exactly why my company made me sign a verification release. I am surprised they don't do the same.:whistle: I am still confident you'll be fine.

A lot of companies do their employment verification through this so called " The Work Number." It looks like you already have
enough information to supplement it with the most current paystubs and the the payroll deposits to your account statements.
I think you're fine with all the supporting documents. If you'll be at the interview with your fiance, you can explain it to the CO.
If not, include a short letter of the explanation signed and dated.

Though I received my employment verification letter from my company, I had to sign a verification release.

Hi Everyone, Happy holidays!

I just want to ask what is a PACKET 3 OR PACKAGE 3? We are ready to pay for the visa fee but then when I called the Manila Embassy the agent told me that she couldn't traced our case. Does it mean our case hasn't entered into their system yet? I told her that we had our MNL# already coz my fiance called the NVC and the NVC told my fiance that our case left Dec. 14 to Manila Embassy. How long does it take for our case to entered into the Manila Embassy's system. It's going to be a month since our case left the NVC. The agent at USEM told me to wait until exactly a month(Jan.14) and just give an ample time before I can sked my interview. Is this really true? While talking to the agent she told me that I can just download the pdf file from the USEM site and print it to present/show/bring during my interview. Is this the packet 3 or the instructions for the interview? Is this also the letter that they are going to send me? We just want to get this done so we can be together. So confused. Please help us guys :( :( :(


Harvey and Theresa already gave you the link for what essentially is your packet 3. Do not wait for USEM to send it to you, you will be waiting forever.

This is what we did a little over 4 months ago and is solely based on our experience.

Your fiance should already be gathering her Birth Certificate, NBI Clearance, CENOMAR, Police Clearance if she worked overseas for more than 6 months from the country where she worked, Annulment (if applicable).

You as the petitioner should prepare I-134, employee letter, pay stubs, and tax transcripts for 3 years (you can order tax transcripts from IRS website for free), evidence of ongoing bonafide relationship, money remittance, and anything else that proves a genuine relationship, and then send it all to your fiance as she will need these things for the interview @ USEM.

You can pay the visa fee through BPI it is $350.00 but will pay in peso based on the exchange rate that day. Be sure to have your passport when paying for the visa fee and keep the receipt. Wait til the next day and schedule your interview online. You do not have to wait for the eligibility letter from the USEM. Otherwise, you will be waiting for awhile. When you are scheduling online, you'll need manila case #, passport info, and the receipt # from BPI or just use your passport #. Give enough time in between interview date and when she plans on getting her medical done when scheduling. There is no need to schedule an appointment for medical since it is walk in. You can register through the SLMEC and fill up the registration online and this will save you an hour and a half. if you don't fill it up, they will make you fill it up on the spot @ the clinic.

A CFO sticker is needed to be affixed to your fiance's passport. If you do not have this, they will not let her board the plane. This can be done in advance and once you have the visa in hand, you can go back to the CFO office in Quirino Avenue and obtain it. Or, you can wait until visa in hand and then attend the CFO seminar and get the certificate the same day.

I do not think that is accurate information. My brother-in-law was 2 when they came to the US in 1968. He married my sister who was already a US citizen in 1992. Two years ago he finally got around to getting his citizenship. He was never told that he did not need to file because he married s US citizen...hope this helpsPosted Image

My friend asked me to post on her behalf. Her parents brought her to USA about 25 years ago with a permanent green card. She never became a USC. Now she wants to become a USC. She is married to a USC. She told me she read some where that if a permanent green card holder marries to a USC, automatically that person become USC also. Is that a true statement? can some one point me out to some information and I will gladly give her the information.

Were you born in the US? If you were, you are are a US citizen and can apply for a US passport using your birth certificate. If not, do you have a green card? If you do, then you must apply to get your US Citizenship. Once you have your Naturalization Certificate, then you can apply for a US passport.

It depends whether the child was born in the US or a green card holder. If born in the US, the daughter can get her US Passport using her birth certificate. If a green card holder, she must apply for US Citizenship before she is able to obtain a US Passport.

Since you are K-1 that means your child was born out of wedlock. In the Philippines you have sole parental authority over the child and do not need anyone's consent to travel internationally with him.

CanadaTricare medical coverage

Hi everyone,

I'm moving from Canada in October on a K1 visa and was wondering how enrolling in Tricare works. I've called the DEERS office and spoke to someone at Tricare on the phone. I am currently under the impression that you can be covered right away when you marry (without a SSN) and get Tricare coverage right away with no pre-existing conditions. However, I have heard from one VJ member that the coverage is limited to basic services until you get the SSN (ie you can not see a specialist or get treatment).

I am currently experiencing a health scare (possibly cancer). It is probably nothing but I want to confirm that I will be covered if it is something serious. Anyone have experience with Tricare?

I am also interested for an answer to this question. I am bringing my fiance and anticipate she will be here 1st week of September. We will get married right away and plan to get her an SSN 2 weeks after she enters the US. I am a retired USAF. If this doesn't get answered before my fiance gets here, I will let you know what transpires when she gets here in September. Also, i have POCs for the Tricare here at David Grant Medical Center at Travis AFB. I will definitely contact them and ask what I need to do on my part to
get her under Tricare coverage.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionProof to gather if husband has been deployed for most of the 2 years

So today we just got a clearer idea of when he is actually deploying. It's a 15-month deployment so it's a big one, and it will be in the Middle East so me coming with him is not an option.. Basically we will only have about 6 months together and then he leaves, and by the time he comes back I would probably already have filed for ROC.. I was just wondering how this would affect us? I know its still a very long time away (Thank goodness, because I haven't even recovered from the AOS stress yet!) but what kind of evidences should I gather or prepare for during the next two years? Obviously we won't have much pics together, I heard the internet is terrible there. I am not even sure if I can file our taxes for him next year (If I am not mistaken I will be given a POA that will allow me to do this). We have all the household bills in my name, and we have a joint account so I can pay all the other bills. Will phone records and receipts of care packages I will be sending be okay? I feel like its better to ask this now while I am still okay and I can make a plan of what I need to prepare for. Thanks! Sorry for posting this so early, hope no one minds!


Sounds like you're on the right track already. He'll get you either a Special or General POA. General POA is better since that pretty much
let's you do everything on his behalf. For military people, you are automatically extended 6 months if deployed when it comes to filing taxes.
Good idea to keep records of phone call & receipts of Care Packages (it might even be a good idea to take a picture of the content...unless
you're sending him something intimate...LOL). Also, if it has not changed since I retired from the USAF in 06, he will have a mid tour, so, plenty
of opportunity for pictures then. Keep record of stuff you send each other on special occasions such as cards, videos, etc etc. Make sure the
POA's expiration date will encompass his entire deployment because sometimes they issue the POA with a 1 year expiration. Hopefully,
someone else will jump in and shed some more ideas. You'll be fine!

Have your fiance join the Pretty Ladies (VJ) on Facebook (highly recommended). They are a group of Filipinas who have either gone through the process or are going through the same process. They provide a plethora of information there. I did read a couple of days ago in that group that as long as you have your MNL# and her passport that she will be able to pay the Visa fee in any BPI branch. Hope this helps!

Ok, I called NVC a few days ago and they were able to get me a case number. So when is it ok for me to have my fiancee go pay her visa fees?
Do I need to wait for it to actually arrive in USEM? How will I know? If she can go now, what else will she need to take to the bank?
Sorry if these may be repeated questions but all my searches turned up were from several years ago and I am afraid it may be different procedures now.

That is the norm when marrying a Filipina. It doesn't mean you have to bend over and do things that will be detrimental to you and your fiance's livelihood. You seem to be a reasonable person from your post here and how you feel about it. By that, I mean you are willing to help when you can. It is too bad that you're fiance is the one being put in the middle of all this and is causing strain in your relationship. Communication is vitally important here. Communicate with your fiance and tell her where you're coming from so that her family knows where you're coming from. If her family do not understand that, then that is too bad. Her family should accept you just the same whether you are able to help them or not. The last thing you want to be is an "Enabler." Put your foot down and draw the line and tell your fiance this is where the line is! Your first priority is you and your fiance's livelihood once she gets there. If there are times when you can help out, then go ahead and do so. I think once you talk to your fiance about this and help her family understand, all will be fine. I really hope that you can smooth things out with your fiance's family. Good luck!


I agree completely. I do feel that both the parents and my girl don't realize that in the US, salaries are larger, but so are our expenses. Things don't scale completely one-to-one, but the same type of expenses are present. However, there are probably many expenses that we have in the US that are not present in the Phillipines. Probably the other way around too.

I also feel that it is a bit unfair of her parents to put her in the middle of this right now -- we need to be planning our future and be happy. As another member said, we need to be separate and have a life of our own. I'm sure her parent's influence will be much less when she is here.

I feel that I need to talk openly to my girl and set the priorities. Obviously, our financial survival is at the top of the list. Farther down the list will be her parents and both our families.

One last note: from much reading of the Posts on this site, Manila has a problem with "Co-Sponsors" in many cases they reject, and expect the petitioner to be the solo sponsor.

Her mother is single & divorced with his father and my fiance is not dependent to his mother.No one is dependent to his mother. So what is the correct answer -> None Or I am the dependent now that she is co-sponsoring me?

10.) That I have submitted a visa petition to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) on behalf of the following person.

It's my fiance who submitted the petition so the correct answer is-> NONE right or???

Actually right now these dont work. You call this and you dont get the option to request the transcripts. I know. I got my tax transcripts for 05 and 06 back in dec. I called this month to get the 07 and the voice automated system has changed and is geared for tax filing questions now. you can mail them but it will take longer. I am just taking my form that my tax accountant prepared and filed with the IRS.

He will need to use the mail in form, or go with what he has from his tax accountant. Calling the number wont work until after April 15th when all the tax filing is done. The automated option for tax transcripts is not in the system now.

yeah definitely, actually, there were many of us. I dont understand. Go to philippines forum you will see my post there. thats reaaly their procedure, and we have nothing to do but wait. I also paid on the 8. I called delbros and I was told they forward it to nso on 11. I called Miss grace and told me not to worry because its their standard procedure and my verification process just started last week of feb even though I paid on the 8th. It could take 4 weeks though, some are faster, some take months, some just takes weeks. It depends on the case. Goodluck and congrats atleast we don't get denial and we passed the interview.


Awws u got the same paper where there is a check in other= docs and wait until u hear from us or just the wait until u hear from us?

I want my fiance to call the embassy can u pls. tell me what is the correct number and time to call??? ahuhuhu

did you received the white paper with dear applicant, we are unable to complete the process under section221g? kasi means we are reaaly in administrative review, but you don't have to worry, there are lots of us. They just use the form but once they get feedback from nso, our visa will soon be issued. we are in the ar because of the verification. That is there procedure so lets hope for the best quick verification



Awws i'm so glad we're the same...i thought im the only one huhuhu.I was so worried i cant help but cry because we wanted to be together in his birthday but now it will never happen.We just hope that they will issue the visa soon so we can be together even tho. its not his birthday anymore.Anyway, I got the the pink slip and also a white paper that says wait until u hear from us..I hope its only because of the verification huhuhu.

Hello VJ! I just got done with my interview today and i don't know if i am approved or not huhuhuh.The consul didn't say anything but i got the pink slip and paid the delbros delivery for the visa....My problem is i got a paper that says "WAIT UNTIL YOU HEAR FROM US" and there's no specific requirements to submit.What i see in the paper is "Others = Docs" I don't understand...what docs is that??? What do you think it is? Pls. help me :-(.Is it the documents verification? I paid the Delbros for that sad.gif last Feb. 8, 2008.What should i do? crying.gif helpsmilie.gif

Judging from your timeline, you only just got your Conditional green card 2 months ago! and you are already thinking of divorce so soon,be careful, in the eyes of Immigration, this might look and sound as fraud, I am sorry for all your streess you are going through, but think very well before you make any more moves.
You said you filed a restraing order against your husband once before, my question to you is, did u file the order,before or after your got your Green card, cos if you filed before you recieved your Conditional green card, they might have asked you why you didn't present this evidence when you where filing for adjustment ,and then after you got the card you then use it against him.
I hope you have all your thoughts together, many people get their conditions removed sucessfuolly after a divorce and yet many don't, hope you have all your cards right, I am sorry for all you are going through, but be wise, if you plan to divorce him anytime soon, you better have more than a police report to present to immigration, when you file for removals. Hi! Thank you for your comment but u got it all wrong. I am not thinking of divorcing him and i will never file a divorce because i love him very much and hopefully it will never happen. I filed a police report last Sunday (Feb. 22, 09) because of what happened but i never filed a restraining order or anything like that.I just reported to the police what happened and thats it coz i thought he doesn't love me anymore and that its over but he still loves me and wants me back. He was the one abandoning me so i went to the police coz i have nobody to help me.But its all good now because i am back home with him and we're all good now and hopefully it will continue like this.I got my green card last year Dec. 01,2008 so i am not filing a removing of condition yet but just wondering if it will affect when i do file. Anyway, i do appreciate everyone who replied to my post.Thank you all so very much and Take care and God bless you always!

Nope. There's no affidavit of support involved with removing of conditions, thus it has nothing to do with meeting any poverty lines.



So that means there's no income level that we have to meet? Low or high income it's ok as long as we're filing taxes?
