K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMNL case number

thanks for this info =) i'm from davao, maybe we'll have same interview date, who knows...it's good to know you here in VJ =)

My fiance, Patty is from Cotabato city. She teaches at Notre Dame University though she already submitted her resignation.
Her plan is to have her medical done July 25 & 26 and take care of getting all the documents together such as CENOMAR,
Birth Certificates, Transcripts, NBI Clearance, CFO Seminar (she'll come back for the sticker once visa is in hand).
I will be with her for the interview. We're targeting 3rd week of August for the interview and be on our way to California
1st week of September. May be we'll see you in Manila...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMNL case number

hi everyone, my fiance called the NVC and we now have our case number but they said they haven't forwarded it yet to USEManila....my question is, when can i move forward to the next step? (medical and interview)...thanks ahead for sharing your knowledge =)

From what I've read from other VJ members, as soon as you have your Manila Case #, you can get your medical exam done & go to BPI and pay the $350.00 Visa fee. Have your fiance(e) scan and email you a copy of the NOA2. Once you've paid the Visa fee, you wait 24 hrs and then schedule an interview online.

Here is a good post from another member on how to schedule online: http://www.visajourn...k1-visa-online/

We got approved 6/24/2011, so, we're right behind you. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2 Approved!

Salamat Kuya, I hope too I can be there for Rea's interview, it'll be a tight squeeze money wise & only 5 vacation days left this year, but wow it would be great, I'm quite sure if the USC is present, it seals the deal, hehe.

TAMA! God's timing is perfect...

Walang anuman! From what I've read, it counts a lot as far as having the USC present for the interview. Besides, it will make Patty less stressed with me there and with me accompanying her back home to SFO. We'll keep in touch and update each other.
I am sure Reaniza will be ecstatic if you could make it. God bless!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA 2 Approved!

I just decided to check out of Boredom the USCIS website this morning. Entered the WAC number & WOW!

First tears, then the urge to vomit (why i do not know), then a new feeling of peace and confidence. Of course soon enough will come some feelings of nervousness once the Interview time draws near, but for now I'm so happy.

Thank you God, I was really expecting an RFE as I sent a very light packet. Heavy on Primary evidence, lite on Secondary (no chat logs or emails).

Thank you so much to the VJ community & the Pretty Ladies FB group for helping my Fiance & I with sound advice & encouragement.

God Bless us all,

Leo

Leo & Reaniza...Patty and I told you to get ready for the approval...and here it is...as I said before, GOD's timing is always perfect
On to the next steps...Patty plans on doing her medical July 25 & 26. We're planning for a 2nd or 3rd week of August for interview
GOD willing. I will be there for her interview and bring her home 1st week of September.

yeah, we will do that asap. i guess it's not a RFE at all, just a minor error i guess cause i already have my alien number already so it means my petition is approved. what's "T" by the way?

It is just a figure of speech. It means do exactly what they tell you on the instructions on how to reply to the RFE.

really? so you mean, it's almost approved? wow! i am not sure yet which part of the I-129F package that my fiance made an error but the letter says only to replace N/A to NONE then mail it back. i really hope to get my NOA2 sooner. thanks for the reply.

You received an RFE for a very simple matter. Follow the instructions to at "T" and mail it back to USCIS ASAP. You should see an approval in less than a month. They do assign an alien # when the petition is approved.

Yup! This is the standard answer that NVC sends. NVC is currently averaging 30-35 calendar days to get a manila case #
for approved K-1 from California Service Center. You will eventually get it. It took 33 days for us, so just hang in there.
Once you get your case #, everything happens pretty fast. See our timeline.

Could you tell me if in your experience you think it would be worth flying to Manila to be there at the interview with my fiancee ?

First, I was unsure as the petitioner if I could even get in there.

and

Do you think it was beneficial as a petitioner to be there?

I would be flying from the East Coast and that is a brutal 24 hour flight but worth considering if you think it is all that helpful.

Was it absolutely worth it to me? Yes! Was it beneficial? Yes, absolutely! Is it really necessary to be there? No. Plenty of other fiance's
have done the interview all by themselves and did just fine. I went there because I wanted to be there and was lucky enough to be able
to go. So, it is really up to you. I wish you well on your journey!

Visa approval was a breeze. This review is geared more towards petitioners who are present at their fiance's interview at the US Embassy Manila. Got there
at 5:15 am and was out by 11:15. The hardest part was the wait. Other than that, just follow instructions and if you're required document are complete, it will
be a breeze. It did help that I was there as it was more conversational than an interview.

First call for preliminary interview with a younger Filipino gentleman:
- right away he recognized I was the petitioner and stated towards Patty that this will be an easy interview since I was there.
- he only took the I-134, tax return/ITR for 2010, W-2, verification of employment letter, looked at some pictures

The questions asked of Patty were :

1. When and how did you first start communicating
2. When was the first time you met in person
3. What did Dindo do for a living

Second call was biometrics

Third call was with the Consular Officer who was an American gentleman probably in his late 40's or early 50's:

- we stood there for a couple of minutes while he reviewed the file and the notes from the preliminary interview
- then, he swore us in

The questions asked by the Consul were:

1. Did you you travel to another country before (which Patty did travel to China in 2004)
2. Were you ever married before and do you have any children
3. Did your fiancee send any money remittance

Questions asked of me (petitioner):

1. Where do you work
2. Were you married before
3. Do you have children, how old are they, and are they out of the house

The rest was more like a conversation:
- he noticed I was with USAA (my banking institution) and I told him yes because I was in the military
- he asked my what branch and I told him I did 20 years in the USAF
- he asked me what rank I retired as and I told him I retired as an E-7
- he asked what our plans were for a wedding

It took about 5 minutes tops with the CO and then the magic words: Congratulations your visa is approved!

If you scheduled your interview online and already indicated where to deliver or pick of the visa, then, they
didn't even make us fill up another form for the 2Go carrier.

Thank you Lord and thank you for this website and all the members who have paved the way and continue to pave the way!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports129f denied
Here is thread recently talking about re-filing vs appealing
http://www.visajourn...ed-129f-no-rfe/

I would re-file if I were in your place. Filing for I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion about your case is a waste of time (and money). The purpose of form I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion is to notify USCIS that you are filing a motion to reopen or reconsider their decision or you are appealing an adverse decision regarding your case. Your I-129F Petition for a K1 Visa was denied because it lacks supporting documentation, specifically, the divorce decree they were asking for. You can abandon your old petition and start again. You could file a new I-129F Petition for a K1 Visa but this time, provide all required documents. Filing for the I-290B will cost $630.00 and it takes awhile according to the thread discussion.

Good luck!

I included a certified true copy (with the courthouse's seal) of my divorce decree with the petition. I also brought one with me when I went to PI to be with Patty for the interview. For peace of mind, I would bring or send a certified true copy. I won't take the chance of getting delayed because it was not sent. You're sending her other documents anyway, so, why not just include it. Just my two cents. Good luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAm I worrying too much???
Maybe Zenden can provide specific examples of this being an issue in the Philippines. It wasn't an issue at all for me nor was it ever brought up
by the CO during the interview. This is solely based on my experience.

- i was separated Oct 2009
- decided I would file for divorce Apr 2010 after much soul searching
- met Patty May 23, 2010
- filed for divorce July 2010
- met Patty in person Oct 2010
- divorce became final Mar 23, 2011
- filed for I-129F April 1, 2011
- Patty has now been here in California with me since Sept 2, 2011

You've met one of the primary requirements of the I-12F which is having met in person within the last 2 years. Now, you're both gathering and
saving as much evidence/documents to use as proof of a genuine relationship. It seems you have all this covered including the affidavit of
support (I-134) requirement. so, I don't see any issues with your situation. The worst thing you can do is to change your story and/or tweak
the dates to give it an appearance that you met after finality of your divorce especially since you already divulge this information on the I-129F.

You should be fine and good luck!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Queries

To all who know the answers especially my kababayans who are done with this process, pls do reply. Thanks so much!

So im back again with my questions. Please do bear with me.

1. Is DS-160 required for K1 filers like me?
2. How about DS-230? I've read tons of Interview reviews and nobody mentioned anything about submitting DS-230. However, i believe i saw it online as one (1) of the requirements.
3. Prior to US embassy interview, is there anything (i.e. document, completed form) that i need to mail (thru post) to the embassy?

Please... I will be looking forward to your replies. Thanks again!

1. DS-160 is not required for K-1 Fiance visa application. You will need DS-156, DS-156K, and DS-157
2. DS-230 is for IR-1/CR-1 Spousal visa application and not for K-1 Fiance visa
3. Nothing to mail to US Embassy. All required documents for the interview you will hand carry with you.

Good luck!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionVisiting your fiancee

Hello everyone I am a new VJ member and I have been visiting this site for some time. I finally have a question of the community. I visited my fiancee last October, for the first time, and as scheduling has worked out, her interview will be in September. This will be about 11 months since my visit. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Will the time in between visit and interview be an issue? This is for the consulate in Manila. Any experiences will be helpful. Thanks.

It shouldn't be an issue. Plenty of couples here has gone through the same thing you will be going through. I myself have only seen
Patty once last October. We've been talking to each other since May 2010. I will be there for the interview. We are shooting for 2nd
or 3rd week of August. I just think it is well worth it to be there during the interview and when we travel back to the SFO. It will definitely put her mind at ease.

Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I've read you can ask the consul to have it held at the embassy. The reason for this is my lady is in Davao and staying in Manila for embassy pickup my take less time to get it. I will be going with her and I think I want to ask for embassy pickup

Please let us know if they allow for visa pick up at the embassy.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionnew rules to us embassy manila

hello fella's

I have a friend living in manila and she is preparing her paper works for interview, now she told me on yahoo just like 10 mins ago that the the US EMBASSY IN MANILA has a new rules, before i remember mine i go online to set an appointment for interview and they its a lot different, the embassy will call the applicant instead the applicant will set an appointment, plus she said no more interview.ohh wow if its true that is great and it will be cool to those on the same boat.then she said that u just go there to submit the documents that they will ask then wait for thier call..isnt amazing???has anybody heard about this new news???i was like to post it so it might help to those peeps that is on the same situation...

ronluvme

What kind of visa is she applying for? It may be that different rules apply to different kind of visas. It is a little hard to believe that no more interviews for
fiance and spousal visa applications. I suppose we will find out soon enough when K-1 & CR-1 beneficiaries start posting here on VJ about the new rules.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWaiting for the Interview at the embassy
Ditto to all that has been stated by other VJ members. Here is what we did:

This is what we did a little over 3 months ago and is solely based on our experience.

Your fiance should already be gathering her Birth Certificate, NBI Clearance, CENOMAR, Police Clearance if she worked overseas for more than 6 months from the country where she worked, Annulment (if applicable), DS Forms 156, 156K, 157.

You as the petitioner should prepare I-134, employee letter, pay stubs, and tax transcripts for 3 years (you can order tax transcripts from IRS website for free), evidence of ongoing bonafide relationship, money remittance, and anything else that proves a genuine relationship, and then send it all to your fiance as she will need these things for the interview @ USEM.

You can pay the visa fee through BPI it is $350.00 but will pay in peso based on the exchange rate that day. Be sure to have your passport when paying for the visa fee and keep the receipt. Wait til the next day and schedule your interview online. You do not have to wait for the eligibility letter from the USEM. Otherwise, you will be waiting for awhile. When you are scheduling online, you'll need manila case #, passport info, and the receipt # from BPI. Give enough time in between interview date and when she plans on getting her medical done when scheduling. There is no need to schedule an appointment for medical since it is walk in. You can register through the SLMEC and fill up the registration online and this will save you an hour and a half. if you don't fill it up, they will make you fill it up on the spot @ the clinic.

A CFO sticker is needed to be affixed to your fiance's passport. If you do not have this, they will not let her board the plane. This can be done in advance and once you have the visa in hand, you can go back to the CFO office in Quirino Avenue and obtain it. Or, you can wait until visa in hand and then attend the CFO seminar and get the certificate the same day.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of employment

I did contact "The Work Number" and they did understand the level and type of documentation required by USCIS. I was told me that my employer has not paid for or contracted with them to provide that level of documentation.

The local HR office is so parinoid that they may say something that might have a negative impact and open them to a law suit that they have refused to directly provide anything unless ordered by the courts.

I maybe able to get a mid level supervisor to sign a document but something from HR does not look good.

This is exactly why my company made me sign a verification release. I am surprised they don't do the same. I am still confident you'll be fine.
