PhilippinesFriggin Case Status Online
QUOTE (my_panacea = Greg @ Dec 13 2008, 03:16 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I hope this is not happening, why?listen... (*deep sigh)

When I called USCIS, to ask why our status still doesn't show up online , they told me that only the petitioner who can call and inquire about it. Like wth?? I'm the beneficiary, ok, fine. So of course my husband called the ever useful USCIS, why our case still doesn't show up online for over a month already, then this is the dumbest thing ever I ever knew...

..The lady told my husband that if after a week of our receipt date and still our case doesn't show up online, it might never be there due to the volume of petitions they are encoding online. So we just have to keep calling them check the status of our case, like #######??? what's the use of rendering the service of CHECK YOUR STATUS ONLINE if others can't use it?????
Why others can view it immediately and others have to wait for light years before their cases appear online, like us.

sad.gif

-- my friend from cali had the same problem with you, but she got all notices just that she cant register online she filed if around 3rd week of august and got GC card dec 8 i think... still better than mine which up to now i still dont get my bio sched tho my AP was approved. I just called USCIS today and she gave me 2 service request numbers for my i-765 and i-485 that within 45days that i dont hear anything from them i should call back again.. sucks another 45days and today is my 72nd day since they received my application.. wacko.gif wacko.gif i want my ead!!! i want my bio too!!!!

QUOTE (RyaNRiza @ Dec 5 2008, 03:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband was reading news from Yahoo tonight while I was preparing dinner. It was about a woman swept to the sea during a proposal in Oregon. The most shocking to us is that the woman is a Filipina and just arrived from the Philippines carrying K1 visa. Read the news on this link:

PhilippinesHOW DO YOU COPE, REALLY COPE?
Yeah things are really different here in US, i am just thankful that everyday i get to see my family on PI thanks to internet.. it helps me a lot not to get homesick. On my 1st month was harder for me coz my hubby is working on a night shift, and gosh i never experienced staying at home in PI so alone especially at night!!!!! blush.gif blush.gif blush.gif so when my hubby got back to work after 2 weeks of vacation when i came here i always sleep in living room, i have my bible, flashlight, phone, and a knife hehehhehhe and also the house alarm which i still do every night as soon as my hubby left for work.. sometimes i cant sleep wacko.gif wacko.gif so my hubby will chat with me while at work until i fell asleep or i watched shows on laptop... but now i have a puppy as my company when hubby is at work.... its so much much different but have to deal with it for our LOVE. its good thing our hubbies love us sooo much and they do everything to make us happy.. i understand we are not totally happy because we miss family back home, food, etc but things will be better soon star_smile.gif star_smile.gif

I've seen age gaps as much as 40 years. The only advice I received many years ago is that it is best to marry a Filipina that is close to 30 or older - I got that from a Filipino Pastor and friend of the family before I even began to consider marrying a Filipina. Generally you don't see huge age differences between Filipinos who live in the Philippines - I am assuming that would probably also be true between a Fil-Am and a petitioned Filipina.

In my particular case both times the difference was about 15 years.

Interesting, why did he say that?

My Fiancee just had her CFO experience... Wow, what we thought was JUST going to be a "Good to Know" and "Informative" event turned into partial interrogation on these women.

My Fiancee said that overall they were nice to her but were strict, pushy and sometimes rude to most others. I am NOT sure what this whole CFO thing is really supposed to be but when they start quizing them on my pants size and requesting pictures of us be left with them, it seems to me that its BS... As far as I know (And I may be wrong) CFO is not the convening authority on VISA's and who should and shouldnt depart the country. I COMPLETELY understand what I believed to be the idea behind this program, and that was to... inform the Pinoys traveling abroad and make them completely aware of all their options (A GOOD THING). But when they told my Fiancee that they want to have our picture and she had to go back home to get one for them to keep, I was thinking.. WOW.. do they have that much power? Sounds communist to me...

Sorry for my rant but... We just didnt realize it was going to be like this, kinda thought it was JUST an INFORMATIVE seminar.

thats weird. and pissing me off to know they did that.
i think they have abused CFO authority - not that they really have ultimate authority on things.

-- they really keep atleast a picture of the couple together for thei file. but should not be the problem of not giving certificate or stamp coz for me pic is not that important... and i think they did not include the pic as one of the requirement? am not sure coz my friend just told me to bring atleast 1 pic coz they will ask for it so i did, but it sucks if i did not know that i should coz its a 1 1/2hrs from my house to their office.

PhilippinesWho are the Filipinas here that received money before getting married to their foreign fiance and sending money when they got here in US?

Before I left the Philippines I made it pretty clear to my Mom that it would take some time for us to adjust here and I would lose several months waiting for my EAD, getting my SSN and finally finding a job. So far my Mom has been pretty great about that; there have been some family emergencies (my dad had to be hospitalized this year to have gall stones removed) but at no time has she ever made us feel that we have to send her or anyone in our family any money. We were pretty upfront that this was not what we will be about (cash cow).

I don't send money to the Philippines to support anyone; I send money to the Philippines to pay bills I had left behind and my mom helps me make sure they are paid on time. When I have a little extra I give it to her so she can play bingo. She is a retired school teacher and bingo is more of a privilege at this point (since my grandma kind of frowns upon her leaving the house).

My husband, before we were married, only sent me money twice. The first time was to help me pay for Pippo's tuition, and the second time was for our wedding (which I planned; it was not a lavish ceremony by any means...just an intimate gathering with 60 people, including us...and mind you, I paid for quite a number of significant things myself...including my husband's wedding band, which I had asked a family friend to customize for him). At one point, I sent him money to help him pay for his airfare. So what we have is mutual dependency on each other...it has never been one way.

There is no his money, her money...it's our money; that was a new concept for me...when I was married to Pippo's dad, he was terrible with money, so I had to save some for myself in case things got hairy.

Fast forward to the present, when I'm not sure about spending our money on something at the grocery store or at the mall, I always ask him. That has saved us so much grief. I never assume anything, even though we are married. Our 2nd year wedding anniversary is just around the corner...times are hard now, and so we are being extra careful with our money. (I'm still on the lookout for a better job...so far nothing...but on the flipside I am spending a lot of time taking care of our new baby :D )

Funny enough, we do not have a lot of money now (compared to when we were in the Philippines), but we are very happy. :)

Very good post . in fact some of the best words i have heard anyone say yet. You and your husband is a very lucky couple to have each other and understand that meaning less things arent really important in life. How i wish to find this kind of nice girl for me.

PhilippinesMen Your Thoughts On Filipina

I married her for her broken English. It's just adorable. And how she irons my shirts, and how she always has a hot cooked meal for me, even when I come home drunk at 2am. And that she's like a little sports car, revving and ready for me to take her for a ride, even if she's been slaving over the hot stove all day. All the hype about these Filipinas is TRUE! She even thinks my rolls of fat and baldness make me look guapo. It was money well spent!

Well i really like all the comments , but do you really think you should have said money well spent ? Do you belive this is a investment or something ?

PhilippinesJollibee

I must admit that I have grown to love Jollibee over the years. I think it has more to do with the association with good times than the quality or taste of the food. I'll take a yum with spaghetti combo any day. I love Andok's, Mang Inasal, Max's, Chik-boy, Bon Chon, Chowking, Greenwich, etc etc. There used to be tons of Shakey's pizza when I was a kid in the 80's in the US, but most of those are closed down in my neck of the woods now. I love going there too, but my wife totally hates it (and all pizza in general). I think there's still one in Wyoming that's not too far away. I doubt I'll see a Jollibee in Utah anytime soon, but you never know what the future holds. Happy eating everyone, whatever it is you like :)

- Bron (Makati/Utah)

I was there in dec and went to max's and chik-boy and chowking and the greenwich and shakeys pizza i enjoyed most everything i had . the tea in jollibee was extra sweet LOL but wasnt bad. i enjoyed the pizza also i thought it was good. Just my thoughts in those places while being there in manilla in dec.

PhilippinesJollibee

If you wanna eat dried up chicken and other meat, go to Max's, Jollibee, and other Pinoy fastfood chains, then you'll find out what cardboard tastes like. My husband avoids fastfood like plague, but in his first Philippine visit in 2009, I insisted that he try local brands and eats. The only thing he'd order repeatedly was halu-halo.

I went to Max's and Jollibee back in December when i was there recently. I had the hamburger in Jollibee and chicken and other items in max's.
