Thanks Riblet! I'm still banking on the K3 though because it's faster (hopefully). BTW, did you ever get your I-129F approved?

I think filing the I-129 pushes things ahead but I am not sure why. Maybe since there's less review with K3s? But that doesn't really make sense either since they are starting to approve both petitions the same day. It's as if when they have time to review the I-129, they pull the I-130 too for review. But it appears they are also retaining the approved I-130 when filed with a I-129 so something else has to be filed (along with $200) to release to NVC and we're not sure how long that takes for them to forward it.

There's another girl here, Stacey who just filed an I-129 to see if she would get approvals faster and be reunited sooner.

I feel for you all. I hope your approvals come soon so you can start the NVC stage.

Since you're returning some other paperwork to the consulate, I'd include a note with the new address. Hopefully they'll include that in the sealed envelope that your wife will take to the POE.

My husband moved prior to my K3 visa issuance. We updated the address at the POE (he was with me).

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureshow do i file I-824???
Also be aware that if you file I-824 to forward the approved I-130, it can take months for them to do it. From the members I've seen here who have filed I-824 in this case, it's taken about 6 months or more.

(Side note: have they sped up the forwarding recently?)

Well they aren't obligated to tell you what they are looking for . . . and clearly they are looking for visa ineligibilities i.e. communicable diseases and drug use!

See my response to Len. I have a full copy of my medical. It just doesn't look like standard practice for the physicians in Canada to do it. That's not to say that they never do it though. I'm sure that if someone went in and looked like they were hopped up on something or said they have done drugs, they'd probably perform a drug screening.

Ditto misa dahlinnnnn, I don't think they do- though they never REALLY tell you what the blood gets tested for or show you the results for that matter... so honesty is still the best policy. Panel physician asked me about medications, I responded truthfully: so if they show up on blood screening I won't get into a freakin mess.
Honesty, honesty, honesty.

I paid for a 2nd copy of my medical just so I would have a copy and to look through it (yeah, I broke the seal on it... if I needed a 3rd sealed copy, I would have got another one). Looking at it now, both vials went to one lab and the only results on it are for HIV and syphilis. No drug testing.

Why do you think they take your blood, have you pee in a cup and answer questions about drug and alcohol use? It's not country based - drug use a visa ineligibility (with an exception for "one-time experimentation").

They don't do drug testing at the panel physicians in Canada. The blood drawn was only for HIV and syphilis (they only took 2 vials, one for each)... no urine testing at least not at the panel physician I went to. They do ask the standard questions though.

I think the regional cutoff is: Manitoba and everything west goes to Vancouver for K3s and Ontario and East go to Montreal. And as trailmix pointed out, all CR-1/IR-1s go through Montreal regardless of where you live.

New form... great... I hope they didn't revise anything that would require RFEs from those who filed recently using the old form (which was valid when we filed).

Unless you receive an RFE for such information, save it for the interview. Anything submitted outside of receiving an RFE may not find its way to your file and isn't recommended. I have noted other members that when they have received an RFE for something, have submitted additional info as well at this time. As I said in before, I haven't noted any RFE's asking for this additional evidence of a bona fide marriage at the petition stage as it has always been something that one supplies at the interview stage.

Thanks so much for your input. I also haven't seen any other members receiving an RFE for evidence of a bona fide marriage at the petitional level, but I will have plenty of evidence at the interview stage.

aussiewench, for those of us who have a pending I-130 and didn't provide supplemental information (and have not lived with our spouses), do you think it is too late to send in additional info such as letters from friends and family? I had just assumed these would be presented at the consulate level along with things like phone bills, boarding passes, etc. I was going to present that information for my k3 or CR-1, whatever interview I get first.

Oh interesting... I didn't submit anything other than the marriage certificate. I thought that supplemental information would be presented at the consulate level during interview.

Did anyone else submit anything other than a marriage certificate?

Are you sure it's required and not just supplemental?

There's some examples of letters from friends on this page (last item): http://www.visajourn...p;page=examples

It's for lifting conditions, but you could use some of the wording if you wanted to for this purpose.

Hi,

I checked the status on I130 receipt # (check cleared on 21st). The case status appears as follows;

"Receipt Number: EACxxx

Application Type: I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On September 20, 2007, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location. is this normal "case received and pending"?

Thanks for your reply and appreciate your time.

Yes it is. It will say that until you are approved. When you are approved it will change to:

Receipt Number: WACXXXXXXXX

Application Type: I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Current Status: Approval notice sent.

On January 00, 0000 we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service.

Edited to add: I didn't receive a RFE so I do not know if it will change in that situation.
