Congrats! You will do just fine. Don't forget to bring the interview letter with you as well (I made several photocopies and brought them all with me). :)

I think a copy of your nexus card is worth a shot. :) Maybe you can just summarise on the copy approximately when/how often you visit and for how long.

Yup, the checklist will tell you to bring the originals for the interview but photocopies are fine when filing the initial I-130 with USCIS... Unless they request the originals with an RFE which sometimes they do.

I didn't have to either but they changed the forms earlier this year.

If you're filing the I-130, marriage certificate, wedding photos and letters from family should suffice for now. It's understandable that you don't have joint stuff yet since you're living apart. Throw some phone bills and boarding passes/itineraries in there as well. Next time you're there, how about opening up a joint bank account together instead of tacking you both on to existing ones.

As for "copies", photocopies for the petitions are fine. You don't need "original" certified copies until later.

The medical is good for one year as is the police certificate. Hopefully he'll get the interview soon so he won't need another one when he files for AOS in the states.

As the beneficiary, you can call and leave them your phone contact. In fact, I think it's good for the beneficiary to take charge at this point in the game since it's your interview. :)

I would email them this weekend and CC: montreal as well with your new address, etc.

When his show first started, he actually tackled "real" issues, etc. and then it slowly degenerated into what you see today.

You need to talk to both of them. Montreal will only transfer your file upon Vancouver's approval. E-mail them both in the same email so that everyone's in the loop.

I feel a bit crazy but we decided. Decided. I am going. Have a place to stay for a while at my friends' and a mailing address. Got a job offer (a short project but it will do for now) from my ex-boyfriend in Vancouver. Cancelled all jobs in Toronto. Got a one-way ticket to Vancouver. My head is still spinning
Now I have to write to MTL consulate, but I just changed my local mailing address with them yesterday. If I change it again today they will probably think I am kidding them. Maybe I should wait a week or so? I will be there in Vancouver by that time.

I would call Vancouver and email them to transfer your case ASAP. CC: Montreal on the email. Montreal won't care what your address is since your Packet 3 will get sent out by Vancouver when they receive your case from Montreal (will take about a week or so when Montreal sends it out).

YAY! :)

You don't need to actually move there. Just have your mail sent to your friend's address that you trust and tell the consulate that you are living there or staying there "for a few months".

CanadaMontreal vs Vancouver interview
It's regional specific where you interview though in one case here recently, the NVC sent the paperwork to the wrong consulate (was supposed to be Montreal but was sent to Vancouver). I lived in Toronto but got my case transferred to Vancouver based on mailing address and the reason I gave (told them I was working out of our Vancouver branch office for awhile...).

So if you have friends out west still, use their address and tell them you moved there. Make sure your friends can be trusted to send you your paperwork in a timely fashion though.

Are you sure that PRs of Canada need visas to go to the U.S.? I know that U.S. PRs don't need one to go to Canada.

If you lived in Vancouver before... do you still have very good friends there? If so, I'd try for a transfer using one of their addresses. Just say you moved back... ;)

Heh, awesome. Let me know if you need anything else or have any more questions. :)

It's too bad he can't go with you. It's totally not necessary for him though. My husband came with me and we made a little holiday of it. Then we came back to Toronto and he helped me pack and say my goodbyes before we crossed the border.

That's so awesome! I remember when I went for mine, there were only 3 K applicants there that day (including me). I had asked for the earliest available after a certain date since I was visiting the U.S. for a little while.

Why can't you visit the U.S. without a tourist visa? What is your status in Canada? What province are you living in now?

Vancouver is approximately one month from them receiving your checklist and DS230 to your interview. Thought sometimes they have empty slots and it looks like Stacey got one. :)

CanadaI won't have my Medical Results for the Interview.
Can they rush it and give it to you tomorrow if they receive the lab results tomorrow? What time is your flight out?

A letter should suffice for your interview so they know for sure that you did get a medical done. They'll issue the visa when they get the results of the medical sent to them. Shouldn't take too long to do at all. :)

Don't need it at all. Only a technican can "read" it and the results of it are in your medical. Keep it though, roll it up and bring it with you to the U.S. when you move. :)

Oh, tips? The only tip I have is keep the photocopies with the originals since they will ask for them both at the same time (example, your birth certificate). Double-check and triple check everything. Do NOT check your paperwork with any luggage. Keep it with you at all times. You also do not need to bring the x-ray, just the sealed medical. Organise your paperwork in an accordian folder. It's not necessary, but "just in case", bring ALL your paperwork with you including the NOAs, copies of forms, etc.

Everyone is super nice at the Vancouver consulate... from the 1st set of security guards to the consular officers.

No matter how many reviews we read about interviews, when it comes to our own interview, we'll all be nervous. I was a total WRECK at mine! That's just how it is! Except for flames9... I'm sure he wasn't even phased by his interview. Nothing phases that man! Except of course if Tim's folded... then he'd go nuts! :P

I went to mine with my husband. I was going to go along but we made a mini-vacation out of it and stayed in Vancouver for 4 days.

CanadaK3 is Expired
The approval notice is not a K3 approval. It's a petition approval which allows you to apply for the K3 with the consulate (yeah, I know how stupid that is). The I-129F approval is automatically extended by the consulate when they have your case.

For AOS, as others mentioned, the date requested is the expiry date of your I-94 which you will receive when you cross the border with your K3 visa in your passport.
misaFemaleCanada2007-05-31 11:26:00
CanadaInterview time changed
Not sure. K visas are usually issued the same day at 2 p.m. I would send them an email and ask so you can change your return flight accordingly. They're very good with replying to emails.

Canadawe got approved!

haha, no excuse, no explanation, nothing. lawyer got a call this morning from her personally and all she said was "(our names) have been approved. advise them to just send her passport. they don't need to send anything else." then her secretary emailed our lawyer (we have a copy) and all she said was

As per our telcon of today May 18, 2007 Mrs. (me) may send her passport so we may continue to process her Immigrant Visa to completion.
Thank you for your patience.

lol

I already said this elsewhere, but congrats!

Perhaps the head of the consulate gave her a smackdown after reviewing all the pending cases? :)

CanadaVancouver K-3 Info
The USC petitioner does not need to inform the consulate. My husband came with me and brought his US passport. That's it!

It's not necessary for the USC to be there. They didn't ask him anything except "so what do you do for a living?". They didnt' ask how much $$ he made or anything. It was more of just a conversational question than anything else.

CanadaVancouver K-3 Info
1. K3 Vancouver checklist (as of February 2007) is here: http://www.visajourn...h...st&p=846530

2. I had everything already prepared. I received a copy of the checklist from another K3 Vancouver person (cdancer) before I even got my approval notice. :)

3. Vancouver doesn't need one for K3s. Unless they decided to change their policy... if they do it will be the I-134.

4. I didn't even try. I waited until packet 3 and scheduled one asap.

Hope this helps!
