CanadaNOA2 timeline
You can call or email the NVC with your case number and ask if they received the case and assigned a case number yet. If so, they'll give you the case number and tell you when they sent it out to the consulate. Then with that case number you can email Vancouver and ask if they received the file and if so, when they sent out the paperwork.

For NVC, you need to speak to a live person or email them. For K visas, your case number will NOT be available by punching it in with a touch tone phone.

CanadaNOA2 timeline
Might take a couple of weeks. CSC usually sits on the approval for a week or so before they send to the NVC. Then the NVC assigns a case number and then forwards to the consulate. You may want to do a timeline search on CSC and Vancouver to see how long it generally took from NOA2 to Packet 3.

I think you got everything. :)

Someone who went through Montreal can confirm these two:

3. I think you need 2 copies.
6. Bring a photocopy.

I think the doctors are supposed to tell you if something came up abnormal in the testing.

CanadaQuestion for ErikaB and others
With most doctors you have to pay for a copy and that cost varies. I paid $50 for a copy from Dr. Seiden's in Toronto. The only thing you'll get "for free" is a copy of the vaccination worksheet.

CanadaMedical fees

Just an update ..I submitted my receipt from Dr. Seidens to Sunlife and they are not paying a dime .... the online claim denial states that they need original receipts (I sent them the receipt that was given to me) ... I'm thinking that they need a breakdown of xray, blood work ect. I've contacted Dr. Seidens and have left a message to see if they can provide me with a more detailed receipt.

Figures. Sun Life is f***ing horrible. I used to have them at my previous job before I moved here and getting money from them was like pulling teeth. I thought about submitting my medical before I left but I just thought, screw it, it would be more hassle than it was worth. Jerks.

I would think that the invoice is sufficient, but you may want to contact your benefits adminstrator at your workplace or the insurance company directly in case they need something else.

Thanks for the info ... would your insurance company happen to be Sunlife?

yep!!

Shocking! :) I have Sunlife and they suck at giving me my money back especially with dental procedures. It took 4 months and me hounding them to get $1,000 back for dental work earlier this year.

CanadaMontreal's attitude after THEY made a mistake
It's unfortunate what happened in your case and I know you're frustrated but everyone is just trying to help.

The questions asked aren't asked to make you look like a liar or accuse you of one. Far from it. Your case is complicated and people are just trying to understand your entire situation. What may seem obvious to you in your case from your posts is not that obvious to others since we don't know the situation like you do.

Take Zyggy's advice and seek another lawyer to look everything over. A second set of legal eyes won't hurt and could help.

Good luck.

Yeah, if mine wasn't retained I totally would have gone CR-1 and flown back to Canada for that interview. Seems like a lot less of a headache than AOS.

CanadaInterview Waiting list?

Woohoo! Then you guys can join the AOS waiting game. :)

Oh god no.........we ended up sending the forms back to the NVC......in fact we just paid the Iv Bill this week. I should switch my timeline over to Cr-1.

LUCKY! I wish I could go back and do CR-1 but USCIS retained my approved I-130.

CanadaInterview Waiting list?
You're a CR-1/IR-1 applicant so your interview so you won't get put on a waiting list until your case is complete at the NVC. The NVC schedules the interviews for these with Montreal around the middle of each month. Our Mao and Riblet both went the CR-1 route so you can have a look at their timelines to see what comes next and when their case was completed to getting an interview date.

Ha! Me and Cutie replied at the same time. :)

Yeah, I should be okay. I have a fairly extensive background in graphic design as well as IT Project Management. I still have some Canadian design clients so... provided they still pan out, I should hopefully still be able to work from home.

Also since you haven't started yet, you can't get your medical until you get "Packet 3" from the consulate. That's after your petition(s) are approved by USCIS.

Good luck! :)

CanadaUpdate on the rental car and the continuing saga on our Visa!
He can get an RCMP police check at The Commissionaires in Toronto for $35. Takes 5 business days to get it back.

As for shipping, I shipped my belongings through ABF U-Pack which is probably more than what he needs. I think others used FedEx or UPS for random items. Though I'm not sure if he'd want to ship his computer. If he does, he should disassemble it, pack the cards up along with the HD and bring that with him on the bus.

Davin and Rachel, I just noticed your interview date in Montreal. Congrats!

Don't bother with a transfer now. It takes a week or more for Montreal to transfer the case and then about a month for your interview. If you tried to transfer now, your interview date would probably be after your scheduled date in Montreal.
