CanadaMTL Timeline to Interview

Hi all - just a quick update to let you know that we received a transfer to the Vancouver consulate, so you can delete my timeline from the chart. My entire family is in Alberta and the transfer was straightforward and very easy. We're hoping for a quicker interview date, and hopefully this will free up time in Montreal so you all get through the system more quickly as well. Best of luck to everyone.

Did you transfer it at the Montreal level or the NVC level? My transfer was granted on January 24, but a week later (January 31), Vancouver still didn't receive the hardcopy of the file (they got the electronic data transfer though). So I'm still waiting for packet 3...

Hi Misa - I transferred after the case had been received at Montreal. I'm still waiting for Packet 3 as well. Did you try emailing the Vancouver consulate? I did, just to check and see if they received the transfer. They got back to me in less than a day. I imagine it will take Montreal some time to mail the hard copy -- in the mean time, I was advised to get as much in order for packet 3 as possible.

I'm not sure how long it takes for Montreal to mail the hard copy (how hard is that???) but as of today, Vancouver still doesn't have my hard copy. I have everything in order except the medical because I need the letter in packet 3 today. I'll add you to my friends list and maybe we can check up on each other since we're in the same situation and similar timelines. :)

Out of curiosity, what was the address?

If I were you, I'd put a stop payment on the cheque (they'll usually return the entire package if the cheque doesn't clear) and resubmit asap to the address on the instructions.

I used to frequent a usenet group on breadmaking and many of the U.S. folks who lived close to the Canadian border would go to Canada and stock up on Canadian all-purpose flour for their breadmaking (Robin Hood brand I think). They said it was superior to U.S. bread flour. biggrin.gif

Yeah, the flour issue. Canadian wheat contains higher amounts of gluten so recipes calling for "bread flour" you can use "all purpose" in Canada. In the U.S. you need to use bread flour for breadmaking.

Mmm... bread. I should make some this weekend.

I'm convinced it's one of the biggest cause of obesity in the US.. it's unreal what food HFCS is in.. it's even in bread.. BREAD for heaven's sake!

Or plain canned beans! But yeah, it just takes getting used to label reading to avoid it. I've been label reading for years now so I don't find it time-consuming. After awhile it takes just a second to quickly scan the ingredients list.

It's pretty easy to avoid HFCS once you get used to reading labels... just avoid packaged foods, junk food and crappy restaurants. biggrin.gif Seriously, we don't ever eat or buy anything with HFCS.

You can just ignore their requests, can't you? As far as I know, it doesn't respond back to the original person with a "you've been ignored by so-and-so".

In a similar vein, I hate it when people ask you to join their stupid realtor referral group simply because they think you can "spread the word". Like I have a house to sell. sleep.gif

Interesting Mephys... wink.gif

I do think that with these filer threads people are starting to expect things based on other people's cases and we all know everyone's case is different. I dunno, the only thing I expected within a certain timeframe was the EAD since there is a reasonable expectation of when one would be approved for that. Even the district offices recognises that the norm is 90 days since you can make an appointment specifically if your EAD NOA1 was over 90 days old.

As for AOS, it's a crapshoot and no one can really determine how long things are going to take. If someone gets transferred to CSC they might be in limbo (a.k.a. namecheck hell) for a long long time. If someone isn't transferred they'll just have to wait until they're scheduled for an interview at their district office and timelines for that vary by office. I'm actually glad my case got sent for an interview. I had a date in sight to at least know where my case stood as far as namecheck, approval, denial, further RFEs, pending approval, etc. I honestly didn't care if my interview was 6 or 12 months from filing as long as I had a "date" in sight even if there was no guarantee I'd be approved on that date.

I wish more people would update their timeline though because that data can be very useful but right now it's out of date. I just did some random clicking on people's timelines and their timelines aren't updated at all (some don't even have one). I don't know about anyone else but that's the first thing I always updated when something changed on my case. It was nice to see all the fields start getting filled up. smile.gif

Throughout this entire thing, I am thankful that I didn't get caught up in IMBRA and so so soooooo thankful that everything has gone smoothly for me.

I saw a few places down there, but I've forgotten the names.
I was hoping to help out single mothers and at the schools. I have the home care training, but I don't think it's accepted down there, but I want to work with disabled kids at home as well. HE says they're all n****** (not the disabled children) and I shouldn't go near them, because they're not the same as up here!! gawd

How can it get better if no one ever tries. Maybe I can make a difference coming from here, not holding any prejudices. He's in AR so you can understand how he thinks.

Also, the roof of my mouth is generally burnt since I can't really gauge how hot the soups and such that I heat up are before I suck it up through the straw.

Little trick I learned from someone. Stick the tip of your ring finger in your soup. If it's too hot for that, it's too hot for your mouth. Dont' think it works with your thumb or index or middle finger (or pinky) because they get more use and may have callouses on them or something like that... anyway, it works!

You could do a dual boot of xp and linux on a PC as well if you had two HDs or set up different partitions on one. It's fairly easy to do but you have to start from scratch!

I recently got Vista, I had no choice it came with the computer .. I didn't like it at first but it is growing on me......

I remember when I went from Windows 95 to XP, I hated it at first... but then I got used to it...

My laptop came preinstalled with Vista which I hate with a passion. It took me awhile to find all the drivers for XP but I did find them and was able to install XP Pro again with no problems.

If you do decide to go back to XP, you'll have to make sure that you have all the XP drivers. Start with the manufacturer of your computer first to see if they offer it.

Was listening to a discussion yesterday about operating systems. One guy seems to think that Linux is going to be THE way to go. So many people seem to be unhappy with Vista (thank god I have XP) and the discussion turned to the many problems Microsoft has.

Linux? Apple? Stay with XP? What to do....

If you're fine with XP then stick with it. I've considered Linux except that some of the programs I use for work (design related and expensive!) aren't compatible with Linux at this time... or I'd have to buy new ones. So I stuck with XP.

If you do decide on getting a mac, the new mac books make it really easy to dual boot. So you could run both mac o/s and linux or xp.
