IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMY Interview experience - Nov 14, 2008
Hello my fellow VJ's... as promised and I owe this to those who wrote their experience's too:

Nov 14,2008 6:30am

Since my appointment was 6:30am I stayed in the nearby hotel. I slept early in preparation of the big day. Being early will always give a credit. Ate breakfast for energy. I went there at exactly 4am and waited til the guard will call the 6:30am immigrant visa status (6:45am) Be attentive or else the people behind you will be ahead of you. Dress well(or I may say presentable to look smart) Fell smart( pray for guidance and strength) and as our sis here in VJ said (Shasha414) Smile..........

The guard called the attention of the Immigration Visa(IV) with an appointment of 6:30am prepare your appointment letter and ID for the guard will inspect it before he lets u "IN" in the waiting lounge. No cellphone, No MP3....and other electronic device.

At exactly 7am you will go inside already....You will pass by a X-ray machine just like in the airport....

You will be asked to stay in the waiting area....Then u will be called to the ticketing booth (where you will be given ur number) Prepare your appointment letter only (keep your ID no need)

After that u will be asked to sit down again and wait till ur Number/Name be called (Be attentive and everytime you hear the "DING" sound look at the queing machine for sometimes number sometimes name. Finger Scanning (Window 14): just make your finger clean and before its your turn rub the back portion of your neck to get the "ring" finger prints clear so that it will be just a one scan. If your fingers are dry tendency u will have to scan ur finger not only once but 3x.

After that u will be asked to go back to your sit and wait for your Number to be called for the final interview with the Consul.

Consul Interview: Window 31

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresStarting All Over Again in California?
Welocme to the club. I think that makes 8 of us now???

Hello all,

I got that transfer notice in mail yesterday as well. Case was transfered from VSC to CSC with a notice date of July 6th. On my case status online it says, "your application was received here on July 10th" so I guess CSC is confirming reciept of the case but what next...............?

I soo hope this moves quick. I gave up hope on K3 after they've halted everything for the IMBRA thing. If anyone with similar transfers have any further updates, please post. Thanks!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresStarting All Over Again in California?
I agree with you completely, it was very scary and misleading but please try to relax. What good is all the worrying doing you???? There are several of us in the same situation and none of us has the answer . We sympathize with you and understand just how you feel. Just try to stay positive and keep busy until we do find the answer. I'm just trying to keep in mind that finally after 4 months SOMETHING is being done with my I-130, it has sat gathering cobwebs in Vermont all that time and I'm glad it has been dusted off and is moving!!!!!

Sorry to be so anxious - but it seems like I can't help it! I'm okay until I start thinking about it, and then ....

I talked to the toll-free number and at first she said my case must have been transferred by mistake. Then after a long time she came back on the phone and said my case was transferred due to a backlog. She also said it would take 2-4 weeks for my application to make it to California and be documented as received. When I asked if I would now be behind all I-130 applications received in California before that time, she said she wasn't really sure but she hoped they'd process mine according to the original receipt date.

At least she was honest, and human.

I don' t think they should be sending form letters out telling Vermont people that California has jurisdiction over their cases - that 's inappropriate, misleading, and confusing. They ought just be honest and up front and say that they are waaayyyy behind - even though supposedly on the USCIS website it says they're processing apps from 2/5/06. Too bad. Mine was received & NOA1 date of 3/1/06. I'm pretty sure I'll have a longer wait now.

Does anyone know the answer to that question? Will all the applications sent from Vermont to California now be behind all the applications already in California, or will they move ours ahead according to the date Vermont received them? The dates of receipt in Vermont vary from March to May.

Thanks,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresStarting All Over Again in California?

MY I130 NOA 1 date is the 26th of March at VSC and it was send to CSC on the 10th of July and I got an email that said that it was rcvd at CSC on the 10th. It's been touched on the 12th of July and also on the 13th(today). So I hope that means they're working on it. Hang in there! Our chance will come soon!

Mine has gotten touched a lot too since the transfer, it feels sooooooooooooooooo good after sitting in Vermont and being ignore since I filed. I have to hope the transfer was a good thing despite the confusion.
Raevin13FemaleMorocco2006-07-13 18:50:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIf your case was transferred from Vermont to California
What I understand is that being touched does not nesessarily mean they are working on the case, it just gives us a little glimpse of hope and then leaves us waiting some more. It can just mean that the case was moved from one stack to another. Just relax and be patient. Worrying about all this will not do you any good or make your case move any faster. Read a good book, have an ice cream or do anything you enjoy while you wait. Whatever you have to do to keep busy and make the wait tolerable. It is out of our hands, the only thing we have the power to do is stay positive.

My application (NOA1 March 1, 2006) was transferred to California on 07/12/06. It has not been received in California yet, and the USCIS website does not show any updated status except that it was transferred to California. Should I be worried? It seems that many people's applications have already arrived in California and are already being worked on.

Raevin13FemaleMorocco2006-07-17 18:50:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIf your case was transferred from Vermont to California
Mine was transferred July 6th. I had 2 e-mails that day telling me that. On July 11th or 12 I got a Notice of Action from Vermont telling me that my case had been transferred to California. Case status at USCIS says "On July 10 your I-130 was received here for processing. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete." The e-mail and the NOA both say "California has jurisdiction over the case" I have been touched 4 times since the original e-mail, the 6th, 11th, 12th and 13th.

When was it transferred?
When were you notified?
When did it arrive in California?
How did you know it had arrived in California?
When you check your case status on the USCIS website, what does it tell you about California?
How long has it been in California?
How many times has it been touched since it arrived in California?

Thanks!

I agree it sucks. I am with ya on the "local" office part. I am 2 hours from the Vermont Service center. California cannot be more NON local!!!! Today I got a notice of action from Vermont telling me that my case was transferred. It says "We transferred this case because the record shows that office has jurisdiction over the case. That office will notify you of subsequent action taken on this case. Any further inquiries should be made to that office." I had hoped I would get more information when I get something in snail mail. Guess not. So here I sit still in the dark.

You can add me to the list. I received my NOA-1 on March 6, 2006. I had no activity after that, until I received the email telling me our file was sent to CSC for processing on July 6, 2006.

Bob

ME TOO. My NOA1 date is March 1, 2006. No touches or activity on my application/case at all until the e-mail today, stating that my application was transferred to California. I was not affected by new rules and did not have to deal with an RFE. Why are these cases being transferred, and what does it mean for us? This SUCKS! Jeez, haven't used that word in decades - but this seems like an appropriate time.

Please add me: NEWHAMPSHIRE NOA1 03/01/06 Transferred to California July 12, 2006

Talk to your wife and tell her how you feel, but I don't think lying is a good idea. Does your wife want to stay away longer? I think you should ask her exactly what the situation is. Ask to speak to her directly.

CanadaK-3 Question for Canadian Applicants
When I spoke with NVC they said orginals or CERTIFIED copies not photo copies. I had been misinformed that photo copies could be sent as long as you had the originals at the inteview... Three telephone calls to NVC all said orginals.. so I had to resend..

Note: you may want to be prepared for a wait for interview with Montreal... they seem to be a nightmare when it comes to back up. I have gotten several time frames for waiting for interview date most recent was two to four months.. Other info shows them booking appointsments for the end of June and into July UGH!!!! Hope this is incorrect..
Best to you and good luck

CanadaAir Canada

Oh my friends at Air Canada :-)

I have forked over what seems to be my life savings to them since dave and I have been together.

They base their fares on 14-day advance purchase for the best ones, and god forbid you try to change them anywhere close to your flying date, they'll charge you your first-born.

Also, they base fare between the two end destinations, for example, I had a stop in Toronto going from Vancouver to Boston... Dave's grandfather passed away, so I figured I could just "extend" the layover in Toronto so I could go to the funeral (like most other airlines would let you do), unfortunately , air canada won't let you do such things.. .And it cost me $400 more to stay two days in Toronto.

They make me want to scream. :-)

OH yes Air Canada... be SURE you have your luggaged labeled and relabeled.. Even though my husband's luggage was clearly labeled, we are still fighting for his 2 of 3 luggage lost from TWO YEARS AGO! Guess what now we are SOL...they claim not to have even received our claim forms sent three different times... My advise don't pack anything valuable... keep it with you!!

some time saving tips is to have your forms already gathered and completed so when requested all you have to do is complete and send out. for example the affidavit of support, your original documents with translations, police certificates etc.

CanadaVisiting

Just curious, how many of you regularly visit each other? How many rarely visit ? How many havent visted at all since filing ?

My husband and I visit every 2-3 weeks with no problems whatsoever with the border. My husband is getting to know some of the border guards and they him. It's become a running joke with us really. This past weekend when asked where he was going and why, he answered " to visit my wife" the guy replied " well that's as good a reason as any I spose" We have literally had an easier time crossing in the past 4 months since filing than ever before. Man i hope Im not jynxing ourselves by saying that.

Anyway I was just curious if the whole Can/Am border experience is less stressful than other situations people speak of.

I am the US citizen, my husband from Egypt waiting for consulate decision in Montreal... I travel there every other weekend for 3 to 4 days.. for the past year... In beginning had to go inside a couple times to answer questions when entering Ca.. but usually just general questions and in and out..

CanadaK1 Interview in Montreal - completed!

Thought I would let you all know that it went as smoothly as possible, and yes, they were very nice. My only error was not bringing a photocopy of my birth certificate as well as the original. They took a copy and gave me back my original so that was excellent. Now for some stream of consciousness thoughts

Downsides? Well, the parking is pricey by the embassy, $2.00 per hour, max 2 hours. We could have walked but had to move the car from free street parking anyway so we did it like that. Also, the security guys don't always give the clearest directions, so its wicket 14 you go to, to show them your letter and get your number when you first get in, left from the elevator. Bring change, there are pop, coffee and snack machines there. Bring a book. I brought my fiance, he was forced to entertain me while we waited.
I did see some people try and bring others in besides the people you are allowed to.. like translators and what not.. and looked like the same group was going to try and park in the loading zone at the front. Um, no. We arrived just as this confusion was taking place, and ended up some how jumping the security line I think because we had no purses, no baby strollers, or anything like that. They did however hold my fiance's car keys at the front. Afraid of potential eye gouging??? They have a photo booth in the basement if you forget or lose a photo.

During the "interview", myself and my fiance went in, and Jeff (my fiance) says can I come in? So we had some back chat how he was allowed to come in as he was holding my coffee.. anyway the guy says well you have all the papers here so now all I need to know is that you have a relationship, which you obviously do. Under the guise of chit chat, he asked how we met, when we met, where we going to live, how often we had seen each other. He took some notes about when we first had contact but it was very casual.I had some worries because not only has my fiance got a new job starting after we get married, we also have a new address. Jeff mentioned that he had signed a lease on a new place and I think he mentioned the new job as well (and all our stuff has old job and old address on it, since thats the way it is right now and will be for a few weeks) Interviewer didn't seem to care. I also am self employed (music teacher) and he didn't ask me about working or anything like that.
We talked a little about border crossing, and wondered if I had any trouble (I brought it up). He said if you get denied during the application process, they don't hold it against you. It happens, he shrugged.

So we went in 8:45 am and were out by 10:45 am and were enjoying old Montreal by 11:15. Painless.

Anyone who is going next weekend June 23 -25 its Formula 1 Grad Prix car racing weekend so be aware of that. It will no doubt affect where you drive and where you stay.

We stayed at a pension/B&B called La Maison du Patriote. It's run by the same people who run Le Sous bois. Its right on Rue St Paul E. and we loved it. We were on the top floor, facing the street and the only time the noise bothered us was last nite, because there were fireworks, and people were out til all hours. Very nice good size room with double bed, window on the street and a big fan for air. Could have a had a room facing the courtyard but it didn't work out that way. It has a set of private rooms and a very interesting dorm set up. It has a full kitchen, and we made lunch and snacks, they provide a light breakfast, and we saved our money for dinners and what not as its pretty pricey in tourist town down there. THey also have a security lock on the door with a code, so you have a pretty good feeling of security as long as someone pulls the door shut!!! Oh and they have free internet. Parking is free on the street down there after 9 pm and almost impossible to get on Fri and sat nite. We parked at the Quai parking where the science center is, lots of parking and its $20 for 24 hours, which was better than playing around with hoping you can get a spot. All parking is free in that area and around there on Sunday as in the meters don't charge.

Well, that's a lot of hot air. I just got home and though I would spill before I forgot anything. Ask any questions you like!

Congrats!! I assume you were approved... Did you get your visa then?
Thanks much for sharing...we too will be going thru Montreal... as soon as they give us an interview date!!! geesh
Enjoy get packing and welcome

CanadaMTL Timeline to Interview

How about a thread with a list of people waiting so it's easier to see at a glance how long it's taking... kinda like the one I'm upkeeping in the K3 forum.... I too read the Montreal Waiting Room thread, and it took me forever to read :)

I would be happy to start it... any other takers ?

Member Name----------Visa Type-----NOA2-------MTL Rec'd-------Packet 3-------Packet 4------Interview Date

CanadaEEEEEEEEEEEE! one more week until i find out if we have a July interview!!

this is the thread i was looking for... we are still waiting for our interview. i e-mailed montreal this afternoon and received an immediate response that we are still waiting to be scheduled.

oh, and a side note, i need to update my timeline. i think i'm confused with the where i'm supposed to put things since it's not organized for DCF... anyway, we sent back our document checklist back in april, not march. we were waiting on our last police check... those things can be a nightmare...

Ok I am about to just scream with this black cloud over me..... you got an immediate email response from Montreal??? Over the past two months I have sent them 5 emails and today have never gotten a response! do I have an incorrect email? Sound like things are going faster for you, glad to hear it! we are at NVC waiting for "case complete" and then interview date... Geesh I hope I will not be shovelng snow again by the time this comes... thanks for listening to me whine.

I see that your I129F was approved in just two months... great for you...geesh first we did not know we could send this out as well and didnt send in until 3 months AFTER our I130 approval.. Oh well better late than never.... But the problem is... they recd March 15 2006, touched 3/28/06 I guess to send from Vermont to Missouri ( no clue why?) and now nothing!!!! ugh The processing chart says still at March 5th since May 22nd... double UGH UGH!
sorry to complain... just some news would be great..

we are waiting for CR1 interview too

We waited for 5 months after NOA1 before sending in our I-129F to a Chicago address (which was then sent to Missouri). Our I-130 took forever to get approved since we had to go through CSC. We didn't know it was going to take almost 6 months. Oh well...
Meanwhile, we have not even reached case complete.

Waiting4goozy, when did you get your case completed? You might get your CR-1 interview before the K-3 which is way better anyway.

Below are some people with "known" (known to me anyway  ) case complete dates from March onwards:

Kovil CC: 03-07-06
bcmcfish CC: 03-07-06 (DCF)
jinxlar CC: 03-07-06 Interview Date: 06-15-06
leolexi CC: 03-22-06 Interview Date: 06-30-06
Approvemedammit CC: 03-24-06
blahblah CC: 04-05-06
reddiablo CC: 04-20-06
Mermaid CC: 04-28-06
Stephiejoyce CC: 05-11-06
BC_Ed CC: 05-16-06

From here, you can figure out where you fit, I guess.

Edit: That good news, blahblah! Thanks.

thank you for your help however guess I didnt explain competely...unfortunately we are still waiting for official "Case Complete" and then wait more and more and more for the interview date huh?

CanadaEEEEEEEEEEEE! one more week until i find out if we have a July interview!!

waiting4goozy, yeah, I meant that they schedule interviews the second week of the month for the next month. So this week they're scheduling interviews for all of July.

Thank you!
HOPING, WAITING HOPING, WAITING, HOPING

CanadaEEEEEEEEEEEE! one more week until i find out if we have a July interview!!

Since they schedule interviews the second week of the month, that means next week at this time I will know whether or not we have a July interview for CR1/IR1!!! Our case was completed March 24 so we dang well BETTER have one in July. Cross your fingers!

Really I did not know this... you mean they send out interview noticies correct? not that they have the interviews the second week of each month.. I am so anxious... have been up and down this roller coaster for over 9 months now... Just want some news is all.. I should not complain...atleast I can drive to Montreal to visit my husband...SORRY should not complain... Just so hard to have had our life together and then pulled apart...

Will say a prayer for you and yes keep my fingers crossed too LOL
Awaiting the interview as well.....

Thanks for the list, Cyg. Unforunately, the two above me are of no help. Kovil hasn't posted since mid-April and bcmcfish is doing DCF. But of the people that HAVE gotten interviews that are right before me, I noticed it's basically almost exactly 4 months between case completion and interview. But I'm still totally nervous for Friday.

I just sent a PM to Kovil today asking if they've received an interview date. Although they logged in yesterday, they didn't post anything. I know bcmcfish is doing DCF but I thought it would be interesting to see how they do the scheduling...
I hope you get some good news on Friday... that would be so cool!

I see that your I129F was approved in just two months... great for you...geesh first we did not know we could send this out as well and didnt send in until 3 months AFTER our I130 approval.. Oh well better late than never.... Cool list Cygnet. I have been doing the same thing in my head but there is actually a name or two I haven't seen before. I am thinking we have a good shot at a September interview but unlikely any earlier.

Ed

6 more days 'til I find out! :D

r u sure  or :help:
red d
just behind ya ,keeping my ;) on the situation

Totally understand.
I actually keep a list of people waiting for CR-1 interviews. And I'm just hoping everyone in front of me gets interviews.

If you're interested, the partial list looks like this (in order of case completion):
Kovil
bcmcfish
Approvemedammit
blahblah
bbbb
reddiablo
Mermaid
BC_Ed

I say partial because some people are going for both K-3 and CR-1. Kind of hard for me to track down everyone. Meanwhile, I'm waiting for case complete. :(

we are waiting for CR1 interview too

Sorry to hear, Laura. I hope you can find out quick and easy what it is they want. I'm sending to you and Nick lots of good vibes.

T4? did you mean W4? unfortunately just resend the copy of 1040 filed, we sent both Federal and State copy just to be sure. Did you make sure your case number was written across the top? Word of advise.... always make sure case number is written across the top of ALL (every single piece of paper) you send to them.. that way if any paper is misplaced, they easily know what file it goes with, because without a doubt with all their work they are not going to go the extra step to research what file it goes in. They just send out RFE saying they didnt get it grrrr
Also I agree call customer service and tell them you already sent it... when it happened to us, I called and low and behold they did indeed have what they were requesting and they said to never mind (although I did resend just incase)

We call them T4's in Canada. Just so you know. Sometimes when you move from one country to another you still call it what you knew it as. For example: I still call it a SIN number not an SSN number. tongue.gif

Laura, I am so sorry that things are going smoothly for you right now. I hope this all clears up. Give them a call, they could have just overlooked it.

oh thanks for that info....learn something new everyday smile.gif never such a thing as too much knowledge thanks again
