IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThink I need to STOP...VJer's support?
Oh dear... I feel like I have to turn this computer off and stop reading the VJ postings!!
I feel such guilt right now....Although I am so very thrilled for everyone getting interviews, visas and other good news..... the last two days I feel such guilt over my own selfishness of wanting some news... I am beginning to feel so depressed... I have ALWAYS been a person putting other people first and making everyone happy I feel such guilt and depression for thinking.... When is my turn? Sorry to whinne here but my hubby who is always there for support and uplift is working and right now I have such desperate feelings of needing someone to talk to... I feel like I need to turn this computer off and keep busy with other things and stop torturing myself.. And then.... I say no this site has been such a wonderful support to everyone... just take breath girl, be patient, be happy for everyone and keep the faith that our time will come. I really dont know what is the matter with me today... I have gotten accustomed to this up and down roller coaster for the past 9 months... but the last two days it has hit me like a brick wall... please any suggestions?? Guess the ole saying.... I just need a friend right now... is all that comes to mind.. I cannot even talk to my family because they really have no clue just how involved all this immigration stuff is.. Ok I reallly have to stop now!!! (bawling) Might as well just go into work early today and try to keep busy... I thank everyone for being there for me even if it is just to read this... Atleast someone reading it makes me feel like someone is listening....
Thank you

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIMBRA apply towards I129F when I130 filed?
Quick question..
friend is US citizen... husband from Egypt... they filed the I130 back in Feb and never recd their receipt and case number. After I prompted her to call she got the receipt number.. I also told her about filing the I129F to bring him here to wait for processing.. Does the IMBRA apply in this situation as well or just for the fiance visa? She seems to think it is now way to late to file it? But I think the I130 will take much longer.
Thank you

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase Complete

so the NVC will send the notice tome or to my wife?but the automated phone said my case is complete oh well but geez 5 to 6 moths?thats another long wait :crying:

:( I know its awful and I feel for all those with these long waits for interviews. If you call the NVC the second week (I think from memory) of the month you can find out if and when you have an interview scheduled. Check the 'Waiting for NVC and Interview' thread. You will also get a notice when the case is forwarded to the embassy.

waiting4goozy
Interviews in Montreal are not as long a wait. Have you checked in the timelines to see what sort of a wait you are looking at. From my quick look it appears 2-4 months from case complete until interview.

thank you aussie

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase Complete

Your case will be completed within that timeframe, actually it is generally completed within 2-3 unless there is a hold up with security checks. However as you are from the Philipines and were required to submit both parts I & II of the DS-230 to NVC you will have your interview scheduled via NVC. Presently it still appears that the wait time for the Philipines is still 5-6 months.

Aussie
what about us... our case was complete June 7th.. says wait 8 weeks to hear further... we are to interview at montreal consulate.. think it will still be months??? having to keep pushing back our "family wedding" is killing me

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresapproved & completed I130 but recd RFE for IMBRA on I129F

If you look on the RFE you will most likely see a time frame that you have to return the RFE.

Have a look HERE and scroll to Laurel Scott's first post where it mentions when one should cancel the I-129F. Not under the same circumstances but it would still apply I imagine.

Aussie
As ALWAYS Thank you so much for you assistance! :D

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresapproved & completed I130 but recd RFE for IMBRA on I129F
Although we have been married since last August and our I130 has been completed at NVC we received the RFE for IMBRA with regards the I129F we filed this past March. No clue why... this does not apply to us... We were thinking deven though we will be canceling the I129F and continue pursuing the approved and completed I130, Guess we will complete and return the RFE just to cover all bases.
yes, no? what do you think?

cygnet.... really he called??? can you give me their number? I have emailed them several times in the past and never got one single response...(wonder if email address is correct?) I am in Montreal now visiting my husband... geesh if only I knew this yesterday...could have called :crying: oh well Monday is just two days away...what's a bit more waiting after 10 plus months... Actually the waiting has been rough but I CANNOT complain.. I am blessed and able to drive 4 plus hours to visit my husband.. I thank God everyday for this.
congrats to you as well.. are you as nervous as I?? we had been living together and then married almost a year ago and now we have to prove our marriage is the real thing.... oooohh have to stop my stomach from doing sumersaults... ugh...

It's (514) 398-9695 ext. 3833. But you can only call from 2:00 - 4:00 PM EST. Be prepared to wait for several minutes.

And yes, I am nervous. We have not lived together before getting married. But I stayed with him for almost 6 months after we got married last year. He lives in SoCal and I moved here in Quebec last year, so it's expensive to fly and see each other for a few days. Your lucky you live close to your husband.
I just want the interview to go well so that we could really start living our life together (and start a family). :)

Gerard and Mermaid, congratulations to you, too!

 :joy:

Congratulations! I got the same message today on the automated system today... case forwarded on July 7. The best part is this: My husband called the consulate yesterday and they said we are on the list for an interview in August. They gave him the date but I want to wait for the letter before I post it. I just want to make sure this is for real. :) I'm guessing our K-3 interview will be cancelled soon.

Waiting4goozy, I'm sure your CR-1 interview is around the same time as ours is... it will be soon!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFinally completed case sent to Montreal Embassy
I posted this in the K3 forum as well.....
Finally Finally our case now sent to Montreal Embassy (case was completed with NVC June 6, 2006) . Good news is even though when the case was completed, NVC said allow 8 weeks it only took 4 weeks and 1 day... hey perhaps they are getting a bit caught up and/or orgainized??? One can hope right?? just a dollar and a dream??? oops with this stuff it has been more than a dollar but closer to our dream.

Let's just hope and pray the Embassy doesnt take forever!! ( I have read nitemares about Montreal Embassy back log)

By the way.... earlier on I was informed NVC would be scheduling our interview with Montreal ( our papers from NVC indicates CR1) and then notify us. Does anyone know if this is true? Oh gosh hope we dont have to wait for all the package stuff from Montreal because we have already done it all with NVC. Great another worry.... :crying:
Any insight would help tremendously
As Always thank you all (F)

Congrats! Did you make the phone call or receive a letter?

I made the phone call... on hold for 18 minutes and then the lady was very very nice...(I am experiencing either bad allergy attack or summer cold and right when she answered I was having a coughing attack... she was very sympathetic and asked if I was ok... said I think a summer cold gone bad... she said oh sure it's not allergies?? funny...) then she asked for my case number and said... He is all set for August 21st 8:30am.. told me to be sure to call her back if I have any questions.. Very nice to have a good telephone experience.. But ofcourse want the letter in my hands to confirm!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures...someone help! interview question

waiting4goozy,

The original passport is an important document to bring to the visa interview. Arguably, this is due to the fact that the immigrant visa needs to be in the passport.

I cannot answer your question. What you need to do is call the Consulate and explain the situation to them. They will tell you how to proceed. Perhaps they can come up with an alternative, but you're likely not going to find out by asking us.

As Gerard said, your husband's potential status as a U.S. permanent resident trumps his need to obtain refugee status in Canada. Perhaps you can ask for his passport back since he is pursuing another immigration avenue.

thank you for your response... yes we asked for his passport back almost a month ago and informed them of our I130 processing instead and still no news. My husband was trying to get intouch with them again today. I am also trying to get ahold of the consulate.. No luck today will try again tomorrow.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures...someone help! interview question

Does he have any documentation showing the pending application for refugee status that will show they have his original passport? I dont see how this will really help though as a passport is needed for visa issuance. They may hold up granting the visa until he has his passport, as one has to show they have a passport valid for X amount of time in order for a visa to be issued. Also what are they going to attach the visa to if he is not in possession of it? This is only my opinion and someone may have direct experience with this that can assist you more.

Canadian Immigration did give hime a certified copy of his passport, will this be ok to use? Also yes he does have his certification of refugee status pending.

we receievd package from NVC regarding our interview.. It states that we will have to bring certain ORIGINAL documents, one being my husband's passport.. We only have a photocopy of his passport because he had applied for refugee status in Canada and they still have his passport as his case is still pending. Will this be a problem?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMontreal... medical completed
Just wanted to drop a note on our medical experience in Montreal.
August 9th 12pm had medical at Medisys located at Sherbrook.
Upon arrival receptionists requested copy of the interview letter from consulate along with passport size photos. She handed hubby a medical history questionairre to complete. She gave directions to the restroom and requested urine sample as well.
Completed questionaire and waited. then a series of women took him in at different times and returned him to the waiting area... first one took weight, height etc and asked if he had any allergies, second one took Chest Xrays, third performed eye exam, third took blood, fourth gave vacinations ( he recd three) , then finally the doctor came and took him in for a total of about 11 minutes. Very general, listened to heart, lungs, checked ears and throat, asked some simple questions and sent him back.
Proceeded to the receptionist to pay, Office visit cost $210 (canadian) and $68 extra for vacinations. I was a bit upset because when I scheduled appt, women said bring insurance card it can cover some of the vacinations, however the receptionists was quite adimant, "no isnurance covers cash or credit card only because we are a private practice" Didnt argue... (I was even more disturbed as I waited I noticed some people she took insurance cards from and some she took payments. AS close as I could figure was immigration to the US cost cash but Immigration to Canada they took insurance.. not positive) We came this far I was not going to hold things up for $68. The recepionist then gave us a receipt and said call in two business days for your results and to pick up.
Lastly, The waiting area was clean and neat BUT very very boring... we were there for 2 hours and 45 minutes... not a single TV, Radio or even a simple magazine to read anywhere!!! So bring your own busy work or entertainment LOL
Good luck to all... now we await our interview August 21st

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAGE DIFFERENCE?
QUOTE (Jomo @ Jun 25 2008, 09:35 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My husband and I have a 12 year age difference.

It's been brought up many times.....age doesn't seem to matter except in really extreme cases.

I am 66 and she is 28 and we get along just fine.Age does not make any difference. It is what is in your heart.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSOMEONE SENT ME THIS!
QUOTE (MrsRowe @ Jul 31 2008, 08:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Please read:

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her.
She told her boyfriend, "If I could only see the world, I will marry you."

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,' Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?'
The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that. The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying: 'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.'

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.

Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word -
Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life -
Think of someone who went too early to heaven.

Before you complain about your children -
Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep -
Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job -
Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another -
Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one MAKER.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down -
Put a smile on your face and thank GOD you're alive and still around.

Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught , we will realise we cannot eat money !

Great post Mrs Rowe and welcome back

I know this really isn't on topic but just wanted to share the news with my VJ family.
My wife gave birth to my beautiful baby girl a few days ago!

Ive never been happier. We are still waiting on the news about the interview. I have been wanting to call NVC to see if they can give me a date yet or not but since Im in Japan I keep getting confused with the time zones and when they actually have a live person I can talk to. The automated message is the same.
So anyways Ill post about the results after my wife's interview and also if there are any complications getting my baby girl's passport or coming back to America with her.

If you want to see pictures you can visit my flickr site.

Hi

I am confused as to when they say put the case number in the upper right hand corner of the I-864.Do they mean everything?like income tax papers 1099s etc or just the I864? Cover letter too?

Thanks

Personally, I'm putting it on absolutely everything - even my original documents - just to be safe. To make it easier I printed a whole sheet of case # 'stickers' using small return address labels. This way I can simply stick one in the upper corner of each page, it save my fingers a lot of aching, and I know that each and every one is accurate.

Thank you
