You are correct. It will also have some instructions for medical, police, and fees.

(Things keep changing, so I would wait for you packet before doing any of these). When my then fiance was there for his interview people were turned away for more then month old police certificates, so wait until a month before to request and then pick up in two weeks.

Make sure your BC is the new one with silver seal thingy on it.



Hey everyone:) I have a problem downloading form DS-156,so,is there someone who can help me please? B/c It is better to fill and save it before the day comes very close.And the other one is on form DS-230 on the top right side it is already expired92-29-2012),so i that will be a problem? B/c I would like to gather all necessary forms since i am approved and than waiting from embassy,the third thing do we need form DS-158? Help is very appreciated.

Usually the embassy don't: quick enough to call. I suggest personal experience your fiancé she can call the embassy and find out, or she can go in person at the embassy two requested her documented arrives in Addis Ababa
They would let her to use the counselor direct phone line from the embassy information desk.

Or You guys can use Skype and finally you can export you Skype History by this step

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionThanks VJers! my K-1 Visa APPROVED!

Walked out of the US embassy Jakarta today with a white slip. Yes, My K1 visa is approved. I wanna thank you all VJers for the your help, suggestions, and thoughts for my older posts. My interview was successful and I thank God it was very smooth and easy but I believe that's because I have gathered and learned so much information from all of you guys :)

So here's the review.
Appointment: Wednesday 22nd February 2012 at 8.00

I arrived about 6 am. Lol. Yea I know that was so early but that was absolutely has made me be the 1st one to get interviewed.

About 7 am the guards checked my email appointment from usem, then they guided me to the consular waiting room. I had to wait until 8 am until an Indonesian lady assist me at window 5. She asked me all of the documents that they requires. And I was so surprised. She only took my passport, DS-156, DS-156K, DS-230 (then signed in front of her), my original birth certificate and the translation, my fiance original divorce decree and the copy, I-134 and my medical exam result. U know what? She gave me back fiance's U.S tax returns 1040, W-2, Bank statements and his employment letter and paystubs! She didn't even look at them, As simple she said ' we don't need these documents,miss'. Wow! Seemed they only concerned to I-134 only and the supporting documents are not necessary. ;)
She then told me to pay the visa fee USD350 then back to her with the visa payment receipt.

About 9.30am a guy at window 2 called my name for finger prints, then about 9.45 they called my name to enter window 1, a small room for interview. There, a nice US consular officer greeted me very kind and start to ask me questions : -who is your fiance - how did you met him - have you been to US - what he do - where does he live - is the place he living now is his own place? - what address will you stay in the US -
Then he said "Welcome to the United States of America" and gave me a white slip and told me to pick up my passport with visa on it on Monday 27 :) oh he didn't ask for our evidence of relationships at all. So my interview was about 5 minutes. And I really enjoyed it :D

- July 1, 2011 - my fiance filed his petition and submitted the forms (I-129F, G-325A, Letter of Circumstances, Certificate of Naturalization and Photos) to California service center, paid $340.00. 

- July 5, 2011 - received the I-797C, Notice of Action from USCIS, notified us that they have received our application

- October 25, 2011 - received the I-797 Notice of Action from USCIS, stating that petition is approved

- November 18, 2011 - my fiance who is the petitioner received an email from the National Visa Center notifying him that I will soon get a packet with instructions from the consular on how to apply for the K1 Visa here Manila

- December 2, 2011 - received the letter from the Embassy of USA, Manila with the instructions on what I need to do

- December 26, 2011 - paid P15,400 at BPI for the processing

- December 28, 2011 - registered online for the Medical at St. Luke's Medical Center

- December 29, 2011 - paid P9,387.50 for my Medical at St. Luke's Medical Center. Done with the 1st day of Medical and asked to come back for the immunization.

- January 2, 2012 - went back to St. Luke's for my immunization and got the results. 

- January 12, 2012 - scheduled my interview online at ustraveldocs.com

- January 20, 2012 - Interview from 630am-1030am. VISA APPROVED :)

250am - woke up and couldnt go back to sleep

330am - shower

4am - dressing up

430am - left the house

515am - parked across US EMBASSY

530am - Starbucks

540am - Lined up for the 630am interview

640am - embassy tent, showed forms 156, 156k, 157, passport and receipt

650am - baggage, body screening

655am - line up to get a number at Window 2

7am - dropped appointment letter at Window 39

730am - name was called to give the forms 156, 156k and 157 receipt

830am - my number was called to Window 40 for my biometrics

930am - 1st interview with a Filipina consul. TAGALOG conversation. She had this poker face the whole time. Took 10 mins. Asked how we met, if we met in person, what my fiance's work is, asked to show pictures and got my passport. This lasted for 10 mins.

1015am - interview with an American Consul at Window 66. He looked like a really nice man. Interview lasted for 5 mins only, asked the name of my fiance, if we've met before, what he does and said YOUR VISA IS APPROVED just wait for ur number to be called again.

1025am - number was called again to Window 71. I was just informed that my VISA is approved and just to wait for it to be delivered to my home address :)

I was praying the whole time :) Prayed the rosary the day before and while waiting for my number to be called. I've never been so scared in an interview, maybe because this is the only interview I dont want to fail.

Hello guys!.. just wanted to share my experience here during my K1 interview last 19th of January thinking this will be of help also for those who are on their way with the same type of VISA...K1.
OK, my fiance was with me during this day, my appointment time was 630 AM .. so have to get to the embassy an hour before the time, was 530am and already lot of applicants were there (thought were too early hahaha)..so we fall in line, just have to make sure which line you fall for there are like 2 lines for non immigrants, immigrants and for seafarers visa...Guys, there are security guards who can assist you just in case you're not sure of what your doing, they're approachable so, no worries..just like we did hehe

When the time came for the applicants to get inside the embassy, there is that staff who will be asking your copy of interview appointment,copies of DS-156,DS-156K and DS-157(make 2 copies of these forms),and your passport and youll be asked also bout your medical record from St Lukes if youre given in CD copy or envelope...then you may get inside the embassy for the X-RAY.. HERE, everything youre bringing will be checked and when was our turn...the cards that I brought as one of our evidence were seen... ITS THE MUSICAL cards..WE DIDNT KNOW. GUYS. IF YOU HAVE MUSICAL CARDS PLEASE DO NO BRING THE CARD, I SUGGEST JUST THE ENVELOPE WITH ITS STAMPS...they didnt let it in so my fiance had to go out to leave the musical cards.. thanks much to my ever supportive fiance..;)

So, after the x-ray, can proceed to the next line to get our PRIORITY NUMBER..THE ONE AND ONLY NUMBER that they will give you and have to watch on the QUEUING BOARD TO BLINK with corresponding WINDOW NUMBER (signifies your TURN).The teller will ask you some docs and ask you also to DROP YOUR NUMBER TO WINDOW #39...now after dropping time for the WAITING...:) PLEASE ALWAYS WATCH FOR YOU NUMBER TO BLINK ON THE QUEUING BOARD so not to miss it for the next window for there are so many applicants, we shouldnt forget,,,

After #39 wait for your next window # that will be for FINGER SCANNING.. then after, wait again for the next window number for the FILIPINO interviewer, which will just ask you the original CENOMAR, NSO LIVE BIRTH CERT, NBI and will ask some of your evidences( just to see).. Then wait again for another window number for the EMBASSY CONSUL interview. gotta be good CONFIDENT, SMILING AND HONEST here guys... Mine interview was so simple and smooth as my fiance was with me and got APPROVED!;)..

You will know from the consul if youre approved or what.. if approve theyll ask you again to wait for the final window # and this will be about how youre goin to get your VISA be delivered....then you may go home...

*ALWAYS LISTEN TO EVERY WINDOW IS TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO AFTER THEIRS* ....:)

thank you wally! actually it was you blog than turn on the light on me! ;-)it was very detail and precise. thank you! i didn't wait for the letter from embassy. i just ask the MNL case # from NVC and that's it..everything goes smoothly. if i waited for the letter probably it will take me another 3 months. ;-)

now, i just wait for the visa and have the CFO seminar right?

one more thing, how about the ticket, is it one way? or round trip? and is there any travel agency you may know that offer a cheap price? ;-)

Just letting everyone know we were approved this morning shortly after 9 am!!! Darren said the embassy reviews were spot on-they asked for no proof of relationship. They asked for I-134, letter of intent, and my tax returns. He got the nice lady with the dread locks, and she asked him these following questions: 1. How did you meet?
2. Do I have children? 3. How does the child feel about the relationship? 4. What do I do for a living? 5. What city and state are you going to live in? Then she had him swear that he was telling the truth, and she handed him the Welcome letter to the U.S. PIECE OF CAKE!!! Here's to speedy approvals for all VJers :dance: :dance: :dance: :D

I can't believe it, have been holding my breath this morning waiting for his phone call.

and reading all the great info everyone has to offer here.
This site has been so informative in every way and really helped us to feel like we were prepared for this interview.

Finally.. Okay, I have been a slacker here and haven't done a timeline but I will try to figure it out today. Just wanted everyone dealing with waiting for NOA2 from CSC to know they are on it. Our file date was August 25 and they mailed out the approval notice Jan 19.. YAHOOOOOOOOO!!

Now the fun part. Hang in there, we were just 3 days under 5 months wait. Hopefully this shows they are speeding up.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the site that has helped Jennie and myself. I have spoken to 3-4 people at some length seeking information and dealing with the whole process. Thank you for the patience and the input you have given and I would like to say that if anyone has questions then please feel free to message me as well.

Espcially if you are going through your interview in London then obviously I am very UK specific as each embassy does vary. London are very straight forward so dont over think it too much!

Thank you everyone, I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY WHOOHOOO.... I should be US bound in 2 weeks and that will be moving and with my fiance finally. It has taken us 9 months to get through everything and it only took that length of time because I was waiting on police certificates from Malaysia and they took 4 months lol :S

Finally, sent our petition off today! Was so scared/nervous that I had missed something or should have added more...this is so nerve wrecking! But I hesitantly sent it priority. The only good thing now is that if I did miss something or they need more information or evidence I'll know exactly what and can send it, ASAP. I want to thank those who responded to my questions in the past; it was so helpful. Now, it's just a waiting game...I'm not a patient person but my fiance is keeping me calm...I love that about him...I'm neurotic and he's a cool customer ALWAYS! So I work night shift and at 8:30pm EST I felt my phone vibrate. Since it was very busy, I finally got to check my phone around 9pm and noticed I had an email. I pushed the button and I saw it said USCIS :o So, I took a deep breath and began reading and scrolling.

Our K-1 petition has been approved :dance: :dance: :dance: It was a long wait but I thanked God as soon as I saw the word "approved" :yes: I will continue to pray for all VJers who are waiting for their moment. Godspeed to you all!! :thumbs:

My fiance had her K-1 interview at the embassy in Yerevan, Armenia and was approved. :)

I went with her, but they do not allow the USC in the building, so I waited outside. Luckily I was aware of this and had the taxi driver wait, avoiding hypothermia. :)

The entire process took 1:20 for her. I was actually shocked to see her come out so quickly. The staff inside were very pleasant, and the CO was really nice according to her account and had a good sense of humor.

They took the expected paperwork, did not keep any of the proof of relationship paperwork (skype logs, emails, photos, boarding passes), and for the I-134, they only took my latest 1040 form, despite us having several years worth of stuff just in case.

The CO asked a few basic questions. It seemed to her that he had done his homework beforehand, as he knew some of our details. The questions were:

When did you meet?
Where does he work?
What is his profession?

He also asked who some of the other people in two of our photographs were.

There may have been another question or so, but as she said, the interview part was over in 5 minutes, and there were no scary or personal questions. Basic biographical stuff, nothing unexpected. The CO told her they will call her to get her visa.

230 days since NOA1, 160 days for NOA2.

I couldn't believe my eyes today when I opened my email!!!! Got an email from my fiance that we got approved.I immediately burst in tears.What a mixture of emotions! :yes: :joy: :P :P :P :o :wow: :dance:

I am so happy, is beyond any words. Now it's time to play the red tape game more relaxed and with new energy.

Thanks all VJ's for providing very useful insights and information about the process.I bet soon I will be asking few questions about post NOA2 actions.
For those of you who filed at Vermont-hang in there, they are working quite fast, expect your NOA2 soon. We were October fillers, so good luck to all the upcoming petitions.


This experience has thought me an invaluable virtue-patience. Something I was kind of lacking. :) Cheers to that!

so it has been more than 8 months since we sent our i-129f package. hopelessness, sadness, impatience, all those stuff made us think we should withdraw the petition by the end of this month. thought about other ways to be together. changing visa type, living in another country, putting myself in his luggage, swimming across the ocean, etc. i tried to avoid vj so i won't see people getting approved. it's not that i'm not happy for them, it just sucks when you're still waiting while others who have filed months after you are getting their approval (you know what im saying? :P)

so last night i went to bed thinking, oh well i guess i need to start moving on and stuff because it's not gonna happen. but this morning when i woke up, my fiance got the magical text. we're approved! i'm not sure if it's because he had an expedite request (he called before i went to bed). they said we should call them in 5 days but we got approved today.

so yeah, patience is a virtue :P

(i would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to my vj friends especially to those who would visit my profile on a daily basis to check if we got our approval)

ps: OMG WE'RE APPROVED!!! (still hard to believe :P)

My fiance and I are going through the K1 process, actually right now waiting for the NOA2 to arrive at the NVC since we received our NOA2 January 12th, hoping this week. we know its a short window to acutally plan our wedding, but do need at least a 6-8 weeks to do so. just wondering at what point if any is safe to begin planning, I have heard not till visa is in hand which isnt a lot of time.

our options: Get married in the church ( we are both catholic and would like to marry in the church ) very small service which I think she would be a little sad with only a couple people there.

or a civil service, then plan to have our marrige blessed in the church later with a larger service and nice reception to follow with family and friends in attendance.

or try and plan the whole thing assuming a date within this process? Anybody have any Ideas, weddings are hard to plan especially if your the guy and here in the USA and she is not. would love some ideas and thoughts???


Not until VISA i hand,b/c God only knows what will happen next and it is very easy to plan for the weeding,specially if you think you invite not a lot of people and i am so happy that you guys planing to get married in the church. Very awesome!!! Good Luck.

People Vermont is on fireeee!!!! we got our NOA2 today morning. Check your case status on USCIS webpage. I read that so many people found out that they had been approved when they checked their cases, not for an email, mail or text messages. It's been only 120 days, hope u guys who are waiting, get your approvals really soon :)

Hello Everyone! It's my first time posting here and this site gave me a lot of encouragement when I was still waiting for some smoke signal of sign of progress from this journey of our K-! Visa. My fiance is from the Dominican Republic and I'm from Boston, Massachusetts. After 3 years of a long distance relationship, we realized it's time to settle down together! Filing for the K-1 Visa has been a trip of anxiety, frustration, and joy, waiting is NO FUN but thanks be to God that My prince is finally here!

December 16 2010- Second Visit to the DR

May 21 2011- He proposed!

June 6 2011- I 129-F received at Vermont Processing Center

September 20 2011- RFE 1 Received

September 23 2011- Resubmitted my signature to confirm that I have never committed a felony, I left that blank on the I 129 F by accident! LOL

November 2 2011- I 129F APPROVED!!!!! :)

December 5 2011- consulate package and appointment Received by my Fiance

Jan 19 2012- Interview for K-1 Visa at U.S Embassy in Santo Domingo

Jan 19 2012- VISA APPROVED!!!!!!!

Jan 27 2012- Visa and Port of Entry Document received by my fiance!

He'll be here this Saturday, Feb 5th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVisa Approved in LAGOS!!!

We got approved today at the Lagos Consulate of the American embassy Nigeria after a tough drill by an unsmiling Consular officer! The feeling is just indescribable! We were told that we need a new medical report though, and as soon as we submit those, then we are good to go. Apparently, the medicals we already had done in Cyprus a few months ago is no longer valid. Thank God and thank you VJ community. The Lagos consulate isn't so bad., the key is to make sure you know every and even the most insignificant detail about your fiancee/fiance if you are going through Lagos. If you have a genuine relationship with an American citizen, these guys will see it in ur responses and body language and you'll be fine. I can assure u today based on my experience, if you are involved in a fraudulent relationship for the sake of immigration purposes with a US citizen, Lagos is certainly no consulate for u to pass through. I will post a detailed review of my interview in the Nigerian portal shortly but first i gotta relax and celebrate this victory with my amazing fiancee. Thank you all again. :)

Hello guys and to all the September filers, i just found out that our k1 visa petition has been approved just today! We are so happy :)
CSC has been approving more k1 visa petition lately, i havent expecting to be approved this early. BTW this is a new accnt under the same MarienDavid4life
i just forgot my pw so i registered again,the pw recovery doesnt seem to work at the moment and i cant wait to let u all know that we are approved and update my timeline for the others see. Giving hope for the rest of the September filers.Thanks alot...PS dont mind the grammar errors hehehe

We were approved at the interview in Bogota this morning and all went well. They did not ask for my DAS report and we spent more time waiting to be called to the second window than the time spent at both windows. So happy now we are just waiting for the Visa to arrive!!!!:)
