US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhen is the Good Time to Send I-134???
Just have it sent as close as possible to the interview date. The more updated the I-134 is the better. I know it cannot be information that is older than one year or they will reject it.

QUOTE (eric_and_teresa @ May 8 2008, 07:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I advise against FEDEX! Our papers got stuck at the guatemalan customs this week for the 3 longest days ever! And It was FEDEX's fault. The lady at FEDEX insisted the documents required an extended description of what my fiance was sending, and the data was transmitted as if our documents had a commercial value! Which was totally wrong! On monday, they delivered to my office a plastic bag with the Fedex form and an invoice with NO package at all! On top of that the delivery guy did not even bother to tell my secretary that the package was at customs, when I got to the front desk he had already left! I was going insane, I thought our package was lost or misplaced!

To make a long story short, I had to go the Fedex office in Guatemala located at Customs, they apologized to me for the mistake, and for the rudeness of their delivery guy. Thank God I received our package on Wednesday! And of course, the guatemalan customs did not charge ANY taxes to us, because there was NOTHING in the package that needed to be declared.

I suggest you use DHL, I've used it before and never had this kind of problems with them.

Wow, what a horrible experience. Sounds like DHL is the way to go.

There is really no extra protection you can buy. The most experienced and respected international Courier is DHL. NVC uses them to send the files to the Consulates. Unless armed with specific local knowledge to the contrary, I'd use DHL.

Can you please advise me on the followin.I have my K1 interview:

1) How many years W2s and 1040 are required?

2) Is there any other document that needs to be notarized other than the I 134?

3) Do i require pay slips of my fiance? If yes,for how many months?

4) Do i require fiance's passport soze photograph?

5) My fiance's letter of employemnt doesnt state that it is permamnet position and there is no way he can get it written .Waht should we do?

6) I am getting the following docs from my fiance.are these enough or m i missing something:
a) I 134
cool.gif letter of employemnt
c) letter from bank
d) 1040 and W2
e) passport photo copy

7) How many copies of each do we need

Thanks in advance

Are you the petitioner or the one being petitioned for? If you are the petitioner then the following apply.

1. Recommended is the last 3 years.
2. Federal tax returns are usually Notarized.
3. No, all financial information must come from the USC.
4. No
5. The company refuses to provide a letter stating such a simple fact? Are you sure about that? Sounds like a company with hard people do deal with in that case.
6.Everything looks fine, however I would include pay stubs. Three recent pay stubs would be helpful.
7. Make at least 2 copies of each document. You never know what could happen in the future. A copy can always be a life saver in any odd circumstance you might run into.

What forms should be send back to the Consulate?

As described in Form DSL-1076:

- a photocopy of each page of your passport
- one passport style picture (attached to Form DS 156)
- Form DSL-1076: visa instructions for fiance(e) nonimmigrant visa applicants (checklist)
- Form DS 230 part 1
- Form DS 156 (needs one passport photo attached)
- Form DS 157
- Form DS 156k (the checklist says to return this one as well however it needs to be signed in front of a consular officer)

The checklist form is actually misleading at the bottom of Form DSL 1076 it says: You should bring all of the above pertinent documents and the application forms with you to the interview; thus you should send back the checklist and DS 230 as everything else is an application form or a document.

QUOTE (psiprez @ May 17 2008, 05:00 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I'd send it now as is. You can always update it later if need be. I am sure many people have job changes during the K-1 process, so it is no big deal.

It would be a bigger deal if it were the USC who lost their job, since they will need to provide proof of sponsorship down the road in the process. Even then, all you need is a co-sponsor.

If you are the USC then you will be responsible for supporting them financially. So if the beneficiary lost the job then there is no difference made in your ability to complete the I-134.

I called the clinic today. They told me if her results are negative she can get her visa right away and if she is positive then she needs treatment. She still has about 3 more weeks to wait for the results. Diana told me that the medical examiners said there was a very very very tiny spot on her lung. She is 21 and was born and raised in Acapulco.

Do you think there is a very high chance of her having tuberculosis? I know it is a silly question, because I am guessing you do not have a medical background and you do not have the x-ray in your hand, but I am just curious as to what you think.

I am sorry that I cannot help as to whether this is a serious case or not. I am praying that everything will work out for you though.

I'm just wondering when I should book my flights. I know it says some people are lucky to get their visa on the day of the interview. What's the approx wait time after the interview that you have had to wait for your visa in the mail?

My interview is on the Tuesday 10th - Do they actually send the packets back to you straight away or do you wait a week? Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks!!

J

I would say anything between 3-7 days for delivery by the courier. Going by what others say. I haven't got that far yet lol

It is dangerous to book you flight before the interview.

1. You don't know for sure if there will be any issues in getting the Visa.
2. You don't know when they will give you the Visa. It is never a for sure thing.

You can go ahead and book your flights now, but I advise you check with the airline and see how much it would cost to change dates if needs be.

hello VJ friends,

Good day!, i just want to ask what are the documents needed to bring for the interview, i want to know since my fiance is going to visit me again this month and he wants to gather and bring with him the documents needed,

thank you in advance. Godbless you all

friend,
Spence_Love

1. A copy of the entire I-129f package (that you made when you sent the petition in) and a copy of information that you sent back due to an RFE (if you received one).
2. Send all originals of the documentary proof that you submitted for the I-129F to your fiance(e) for their interview at the embassy.
3. Send an original letter affirming your desire to marry your fiance(e) and your continued support of the K-1 Visa. Sign and date the form. This will be similar to the letter you provided with the I-129F, but dated much closer to the interview (it will have most likely been several months since you submitted your I-129F).
4. I-134 Affidavit of Support form. Ensure it is notarized (by a US Notary Public), with all required supporting evidence. Begin collecting the required information ahead of time, as it can often take several weeks to collect it all.
5. You will likely need at a minimum (for the above form) two to three of your most recent pay stubs and a signed letter from your employer listing you job title, start date, your salary, and the status (full-time) of your position. Begin collecting these ASAP after your NOA2 arrives. You will also probably want to include other evidence such as your banking information and other assets as required by the I-134. Specifically you will need at least 2 of the 4 options mentioned in Section II-Supporting Evidence of the I-134. See this FAQ for more tips and ueful information on the Affidavit of Support Form.
6. A copy of the NOA2 that you received in the mail.
7. Proof of your ongoing relationship. This needs to be taken to the interview! Include photos, travel documents, emails, etc from between the time you filed and present (NOA1 date-now).

Examples: Copies of phone bills, cell phone bills, emails (you can edit personal info with a marker), letters (edit personal info also), stamps on the letters (to document the date they were sent), and other written documentary proof. Provide a reasonable amount; two to four of each type. Pick a range of dates up to and including the present. You can also include a copy of engagement ring receipt (this is something that is a big optional - do not worry if you do not have a ring yet!)

Hello all,

The exciting day is almost here. My fiance's interview is on May 30th! smile.gif I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or could tell me about their interview experiences. What kinds of questions will they ask? How did you organize all of your paperwork? Should he wear a suit or would dress pants, a shirt and tie be ok? Any comments would be helpful.

Things to do to get ready for the interview.
1. Make sure all paperwork is organized.
2. Triple check all your paperwork to make sure there are no errors.
3. Be sure to be clean, clean cut, just as if you were going to an important job interview.
4. Wear a suit.
5. Go over interview questions given on this website.
6. Practice questions with each other.
7. Make sure you both have the same story

You do all these things, you should be good to go. Good luck! My interview date is a day before yours.

QUOTE (motu @ May 30 2008, 05:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
TBoneTx - if you turn hostile they would just tell you to go away - its very common at some consulates. In India I observed this many years ago - one of the applicants kept insisting on being heard (he wasn't too loud or obnoxious) but the interviewer told him to leave - walked away from the 'window' and the next number was called to that window in another few seconds. I saw this happen several times while waiting my turn. Your being a USC may have some bearing on it but he could terminate the interview and turn away the applicant. And hostile is what they deem hostile - not what you think may be hostile. I have seen too many people get caught in this and lose not only at the consulates but other places too. Just go to the interview and handle it in a calm, cool manner. Good Luck

This does not sound hopeful, then, and it conforms with other statements that these consulates are their own little "fiefdoms" where some of the COs can be drunk with power. Regardless, if they drag my USC rear end down there (I was ORDERED to appear), then they're going to hear me. No bull-in-china-shop behavior, but I will insist that the originally and supplementally provided evidence be adequately examined.

The only problem is the CO can ask the USC to step into the waiting room and hold the interview with only the beneficiary if he or she wishes.

Yea, but I have never heard of a "separate interview" for the petitioner EVER being required by law regardless of the consulate.
