PhilippinesWhat kind of Car for the under 5' Filipina?

Marie is taking driving lessons again, and is serious about getting her license this time. We finally found an instructor more to her liking, a gentle matronly lady that is willing to take out a second time. The means I may have to replace the car I bought for her a couple, maybe three years ago, a 1993 4runner, that I have been nursing along with a schizophrenic transmission.

Lol yeah. It's pretty easy to drive here. The ones we used in the Philippines were manual transmission. Good luck to your wife I hope she gets her license now.

How is that holding up? Any major problems so far? I see lots of used Nissan's for sale.

My mom in law and I drove it around the suburbs the other day and it's good. Now I can't wait to get a driver's license to be able to drive it.

PhilippinesWhat kind of Car for the under 5' Filipina?
My first car in the US would be a 2003 Nissan Sentra GX. It's a small car perfect for a 5" lady like me. And it's not expensive. Perfect for a first car.

PhilippinesAnyone did an xray prior to their medical exam at st luke's Manila Philippines?

Chinook was a registered nurse in the Philippines. Now she's a registered nurse here in the States. She saw many x-ray machines in hospitals and clinics in Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental. She commented to me that the x-ray machine at St. Lukes was the most modern one she saw in the Philippines.

I agree. I've seen many xray machines in different hospitals and their x-ray machine at St Luke's was top of the line. I was nervous about it too but when I saw that machine I was amazed. People can't really do anything about it if they want us to undergo the sputum test.

You're welcome :)

PhilippinesVisa Pick Up from 2GO branch
Email them at IVManilaReplies@state.gov to check the status of your visa if it's been issued/printed. Usually it takes 3-5 days for it to be printed. Once it's been issued, the courier (2go) will get it from the embassy.

Didn't you fill up a paper to submit for visa delivery? Coz if not, they will use your address for the delivery. Try tracking your visa here after it's been issued by entering your case number MNL######## http://www.2go.com.p...trace/index.asp Coz I chose to pick up mine too and I just sort of tracked it online and called all the nearest 2go offices around my area to check where it's been delivered :)

Philippinesbest stores to buy clothes for petite girls
For winter clothes try the North Face. They have XS and their children's section have nice designs too that don't look so childlike. Just look around and you will see a lot.

PhilippinesTourist Visa for wifes mom
I noticed that parents and other immediate relatives of greencard holders/USC have higher chances of getting approved for Tourist Visa because they are the ones who can be petitioned to live in the US and still, they still chose to be tourists.

PhilippinesIs F.M. still the favorite recent President of the Philippines?

Not sure why you guys support a communist Dictator, who stole all the money from the philippines and used it to lavish themselves in extremes (such as thousands of pairs of shoes) this doesn't make a person amazing or elegant, this makes them insane.

I wasnt here during the time of Marcos but i can't imagine the power people happened for no reason.

The Filipinos were very disciplined during his regime. Yes, they may have lived lavish lifestyle, but they helped build many schools and other establishments that somehow helped the country (yun lang by borrowing so much money). He had good infrastructure and economic programs (they wanted everything done FAST) and the crime rate went dowwwwn (for the civilians).

More media men were killed during Arroyo's administration than Marcos'! :crying:

He (or should I say she) may be crazy, but they are not the worst.

I'm a fan of Ferdinand Marcos. I think he is the most intelligent president the Philippines has ever had.

Ok thanks for the info I wouldn't be so concerned but I bought her ticket already I hope I dont regret that.

It's been a week only. Mine took 7 working days. It depends on the location. Congrats by the way!

PhilippinesVisa delivery
If she didn't fill out a delivery form, they will use the address written on her papers. 2GO is the courier the embassy uses for deliveries. Go to http://www.2go.com.p...trace/index.asp and enter her MNL########## case number to track the package.

Btw, if you can't track your visa in the 2go website it means the embassy haven't printed it yet. You can email them at IVmanilareplies@state.gov to inquire about it. Send them her name, manila case number and date of interview.

PhilippinesDocs ids and more docs
I was a newly graduate too when we got our NOA2 so I didn't have any IDs aside from my school ID that's why I got my:

Postal ID is easy to get. Go to the nearest post office. Bring 3 pcs 2x2 photos, Baranggay Clearance, Community Tax Certificate (cedula), Birth/Marriage Certificate. It cost about 300+ pesos depending on the location and you can get it right away.

For CENOMAR and Birth Cert, go to the nearest National Statistics Office (NSO). Birth Cert takes 1-2days, Cenomar is 3 days. I'd advise her to get 3 pcs of Birth Cert for the interview and AOS as well and 1 pc just in case she needs it in the US. So she don't have to keep going back to NSO.

For passport she needs to go to Dept of Foreign Affairs (DFA). She will need at least 2 IDs, birth cert, baptismal cert. (As a student I was only asked for my school ID, birth cert, baptismal cert and any old ID that shows my face). Takes 3weeks if you pay for it to be rushed.

NBI Clearance, get one for both names she used. Or she can get one and have AKA for both her names. Where I got my NBI it only takes 1 day. I dont know now since they changed the process. I heard it takes weeks in some places.

Good she has her baptismal cert. It is important.

:)

PhilippinesDocs ids and more docs
I used a postal ID as my secondary ID. But it's the passport that is the most important. St Luke's gives back the passports now so she can use it upon entering the embassy.

The fees in dollar will remain the same. It's just the foreign exchange that changes. I noticed the the Peso value is going up. But yeah you may contact the embassy about it.

AS far as SLECMEC goes, all I can say is I am near-sighted and my glasses are in the USA. I can't even read the "borbon store" sign from across the road without my glasses. But I will let that go. Some people with problems just "can't" be "seen". The problem with people with vision problems is nobody understands unless you are completely blind or wearing coke bottle glasses. If you are not wearing glasses, can get around, but cannot know where to go, who cares? But I digress on a tirade I have suffered all of my life. Optic atrophy is one of the worst conditions to have.

Her St. Lukes medical is complete WAHOO!!! We are carrying the medical to the embassy.

We have the NBI. You can get your NBI but expect a wait in line. For those needing a re-issue expect a 2 hour time frame. Go into the NBI through the Biometrics waiting area on UN Avenue.

Right now our prayer is the Embassy lets us pick up the Visa on Wednesday or Thursday.

Our other prayer is the SMEF-COW allows Gretchen to complete the CFO guidance and counseling program if we cannot get the visa from the embassy.

The problem was the taxi driver did not understand where we were going for the CFO at St. Mary;s/Good Shepard convent so he was wandering st. mary street off of Aurora and EDSA area versus where we needed to go. (About one more intersection.) We were so close but it became too late to pursue the location for her CFO. At 3:45pm I called off the quest. We started at 2:15 pm and never got there in time. So I am hoping to get the CFO done Wednesday or the end of this week with or without her passport and/or visa. My worry is not having her passport may make it hard for the CFO.

My prayer is the Embassy lets us pick up her visa to take care of the CFO and the travel tax so we can wrap everything up this week.

right now my worry is the CFO. The one crucial item I wanted done before tomorrow and losing her passport to the embassy. Now we are worried about CFO.

But right now, we will focus on the embassy. then come back to the CFO issue. There are still 2.5 days on the CFO after the embassy.

Great! Don't worry about the CFO as of now because 2.5 days is enough for it. Better to go there with the visa in hand.

Medical exam on day 1 and interview on day 3! Wow that's a pretty tight schedule you got there. I'm sure it will work out. I'm guessing SLEC will give you guys the sealed envelope with the medical results then you will have to bring to the embassy instead of a courier.

PhilippinesAnother tragic story of a Filipina

The entire US embassy operation in the Philippines is an embarrassment.

The embassy shouldn't be blamed at all. Older men can fall in love with younger women and vice versa. Murder has nothing to do with how the embassy operates whatsoever. Even a couple of same age could kill each other. People just happen to have chemical imbalance in their brains. Some can't control their feelings. That's life.
