K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsLet's Talk About Weddings
Alongside preparing for our K1 visas, I know that most of us are planning for our wedding day as well. This is just out of curiosity. How are you planning/did you plan your wedding?

I noted a lot of differences between the wedding traditions of the USA and the Philippines (for example, primary sponsors, secondary sponsors, etc.)

We are still planning our church wedding come this November 11th. Yup, 11/11/11! :D Ours will be a Catholic one so it adheres to a set of guidelines governed by the Church. Even if that's the case, weddings in the Philippines (even if in a Catholic procession) differ a lot.

So how will yours be?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion about spouse and children
I recently filled an I-130 petition for my wife and 7 year old stepson. 2 separate I-130 $420.00 EA. 2 G-325a and have the mother print his name and write (Mother) next to his name, that’s all. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 petitioner, seeking advice on visit visa for wife.

She can always try, and no harm will be done if she is denied. She doesn't sound like she has strong ties to Laos, and she has a pending immigrant petition, so it would seem chances of getting approved are slim, but you never know. There have been people on this board (albeit rare) who get tourist visas approved while having a pending immigrant petition. Good luck.

I understand that she don’t have strong ties to Lao only her 7 year old son and pending I-130 immigrant petition. I also don’t want her to experience denial on her very first visit to the U.S Consulate for visit visa; the denial could have emotional effects on her while she is waiting for her immigrant visa. Therefore, I will think very carefully before proceeding with visit visa. Thanks for the advised.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 petitioner, seeking advice on visit visa for wife.
Hello to everyone,

I am very new to this site and I would like to ask for an advice about getting a visit visa for my wife. I am a U.S Citizen and my wife is from Lao & we just got married in March of 2011. Recently I petition I-130’s for her and my 7 year old step-son. We both understand that the process for I-130 immigrant visa could take about 1 year or more before she gets her visa from Vientiane, Lao. My wife is not currently working she is taking some computer courses. However, financially we are secured due to me being employed with good salary over $ 130K a year for a period of last 7 years. Therefore; I would like some advice or opinions should we just wait until she gets her immigrant visa or take the chances for applying the visit visa now so she can spend some time with me? Any feed backs are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Respectfully,

A.S

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHas anyone ever sponsored more than one spouse?

I was just curious if anyone has an experience similar to mine applying for another spouse after divorce of the first one. My ex and I were married 6 years before separation. He got his citizenship in 2007, but the marriage ended last year. Both my ex and current husband are from Pakistan, but my ex and I did DCF in Tokyo, Japan as he was on a student visa there. The embassy in Tokyo was AMAZING at helping through the process. Anyway, what are your thughts experiences?....

Shouldn’t be a problem, as long it is a genuine marriage. Nothing is perfect in life… I was married almost 13 years and now divorced and recently got married and have already filed a petition for my wife. Our marriage is genuine and we have nothing to worry and you shouldn’t worry either. Good luck!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresReceived NOA2, now?

The 129-F was based upon your factual information and you have the NOA2. Congrates on that. It WAS APPROVED. Not being rude or harsh, but now you say I FORGOT TO MENTION there is a 3 year old I wish to Include. RFE.. No, I don't think so at this time. I think your past that stage. Now you have to tell them them the truth.
Just my thought. Other members can add what is best for you. ( I feel in my heart that USCIS will really scrutinize your case now and/or deny for false information ) But, I don't know. I don't know everything.. Good Luck

Sorry... I-130. I'm new here...

Write to USCIS & TELL THEM THE TRUTH! USCIS will advise you on next step how to proceed with your 3 year old...Good luck.

Yes, but you must include a Blue Ray DVD player to USCIS so they have both in hand to review marriage ceremony. Just joking, only pictures…

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Clearance Certificate Thailand 1 or 3???
Hello, little confuse my question is how many PCC we need to obtain from Thailand??? In the past my wife has lived in 3 different cities in Thailand to include Rayong, Phuket and Bangkok we have already obtained one PCC from Special Branch Royal Thai Police in Bangkok, Thailand. The NVC / State Department instructions require the PCC from Thailand must be issued by Special Branch Royal Thai Police in Bangkok, Thailand and we have already done so. Therefore, do we still need to obtain 2 more PCC from Rayong and Phuket??? Has anyone experienced these similar situations? Please advice. Thanks.

No matter where you live in Thailand, the Royal Thai Police office in Bangkok is the only place you can request for the PCC. So, the one your wife has is already enough :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDS-230: Marriage Certificate, typo on the Address will get an RFE?

Hello VJs! Having a one single letter typo on the address on my Marriage Certificate would be a problem? Address is not permanent or constant. Do you think this would be a problem when my wife send our DS-230? I already sent a photocopy of our Marriage Certificate when i filed for our I-130 form and we didn't get a RFE. Now, we are sending our DS-230 and attaching our original copy. I just found out that my city, instead of JAMAICA, NY 11432... It was written TAMAICA, NY 11432... We really overlooked it.... :bonk:

Do you think this would be a big problem or will delay our DS-230 APPROVAL?

My guess is should not be a problem, but someone from V.J might answerer your questions if they had similar situation with DS-230.

That's great news!! I'm glad to hear that as I have joined this queue recently!

I hope we all can get a case complete by the end of August!

Yes, I am very optimistic that all April filers will have their case’s completed by the end of August, as long as they don’t encounters any serious REF’s. Now is the time for NVC to start clearing out all those pending cases without the NVC #’s so they don’t get off the track too far and they are trying very hard now to make up the difference in already delayed cases.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresRequired Vaccinations

There is a long list of required vaccinations in the Packet 4 instructions. Does anyone know if they can be taken care of in one visit or if any of them require a follow up visit? I am wondering if we should get a head start and get these done through a private physician.

Yes, but it all depends on each individuals circumstance: such as age and all pervious vaccinations records. A physician can determine which vaccinations are requiring for immigrant visa. Now, it up to your physician he may do it in one day or the next day or two. I recommend that you get a head start and save $$$.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThings we learned along our path to APPROVAL!!! and being able to overcome the dreaded "red flags!"

So, the first thing we both want to acknowledge is how extremely important and helpful this site has been to us. I am absolutely positive that it is because of finding this site that our journey went so smoothly. THANK YOU VISA JOURNEY COMMUNITY!! and a heartfelt good-luck along the journey for each and every one of you. (L)

We had so many "red flags" in our case that there were times we both felt so helpless and were convinced there was no way we could ever be approved, but yet we continued to pray and persevere...and continued to read visa journey to get more tips and ways to be prepared.

A few of our red flags are... I am the petitioner, a woman, 19 years older than my husband, divorced twice and 3 grown children. He comes from a small village in a country where people don't marry someone this much older, much less who are divorced or have children. BUT... one true reality is... We truly love each other. There are no doubts about this.

We lived together in Nepal for over 6 months after getting married. We started a trekking business and began a life, however when the holidays arrived I became homesick and wanted to visit family in the states. So, we tried to get my husband a tourist visa.. (knowing nothing about immigration do's and don't's...) He was denied. I went to the embassy and complained a lot and was told by a consular that pretty much the only way my hubby would be able to travel with me is to get a green card. So, thinking that was an easy process... we thought we would do it from Nepal. Boy, did we have a lot to learn.

After realizing the reality of the situation, (and realizing that we could not to financially afford to live in Nepal) I returned to the US to re-establish life and to begin this long, and painful journey. There were honestly days I did not think I could breathe and didn't know how I could possibly live another moment without the person I love most in the world. (L) We spent hours upon hours on Skype, Facebook and Yahoo Chat. Sleep was only an illusion over the last 8 months, as our time difference is almost 12 hours and to be able to talk we both gave up having any kind of life outside of cyberspace.

I followed the directions from this site on what i submitted to the USCIS and front-loaded our petition with every scrap of evidence we could muster. Shockingly, our petition was approved with the USCIS within 4 months.. NO RFE's!! :wow:

Then, following the instructions on Visa Journey on how to fly thru the NVC, we were approved there as well within 23 days and had an interview scheduled at our consulate 5 weeks later!

Because I didn't want there to be any "what if's" I decided to pay the extra $1600 to fly back to Nepal to be there with my hubby for his interview. It was worth it just to see his sweet face again... :ot:

Going to the embassy, was almost a disaster. Before flying here, I had sent an email to the consulate office asking if I could join my husband for his interview. They e-mailed back and replied that I could come with him, but only he would be interviewed. After we arrived at the embassy... they would not let me in!! I complained a little loudly and told them about the email..and finally, I was allowed in. (I was hoping my loud mouth did not do any damage..but just wanted them to see that I was serious about this and had just flown around the world to be here for this moment!)

The interview was easy, according to my husband. (I couldn't hear everything that was being said, but could hear his responses and watched his eyes for any signals...) But, as soon as I heard him say, "Thank you very much sir." I knew it was over! This 8 long months...had come to an end... and our hurdles were crossed effectively! 8 months of worrying... crying...no sleeping... DONE!
They did not ask for ONE SINGLE DOCUMENT!! They checked in the pictures we had taken, but not sure if he even looked at them.

My husband said, the consular watched him intently and stared directly into his eyes for almost all of the interview. He was glad he had prepared for this and never let his eyes shift from looking directly at the consular.

I just want to be able to share this story to give others hope.. even if you feel like your obstacles are huge.. If you have love and your relationship is real... It will be rewarded. (I also prayed a LOT! :) and will now give lot's of THANKS!!! )

Thanks for sharing your journey from beginnings to the end… In having faith, true love will conquer all of the obstacles on his path to meet his/her destiny! And you are a one of the living examples to all of us. Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations

Canada still does Xrays on children not skin tests. Simply saying that your question is not true for "everyone" and would be just for some countrys. Most likely ones that still deal with TB issues.

Yes, I agreed and it makes sense now! Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations

It will delay the completion of medical, if the child was administered any of those 3 live vaccination - the child needs to wait for at least 4 week from the date he was administered any of those for TST live vaccination to be administered. Of course if medical is delayed, then visa also will get delayed.

Best to call the one of panel of doctors of your consulate and get his/her clarification.

Thanks for the advice Navyk! I sure will.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations

Canada does not do skin tests. Most Canadians get their shots before the medical because its free and at the medical the shots are VERY expensive.

Canada uses Xrays for TB testing.

Yes, all Canadians have the privileges of medical benefits but, my question is the statement above for “applicants 2-14 years of age” is it true that it could delays the issuance of immigrant visa, if they recently had the following vaccinations; (chicken pox, mumps, measles and rubella)????
A.SMaleLaos2011-08-23 10:37:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVaccinations
Can anyone clarify the information below; is it true???

If it’s true then we all need to be aware of this information below before rushing to get the vaccinations just before the interview, it will further delaying the issuance of your immigrant visa upto to 6 weeks. I noticed this info on the “Embassy of United States Barbados & E. Caribbean”.

“Should I get any vaccinations from my personal doctor immediately before my medical exam?”

“No. Live vaccines (chicken pox, mumps, measles and rubella) can be given the same day as the TST (tuberculosis skin testing) or any time after the TST is administered (Note: TST is only required for applicants 2-14 years of age). However, if a live vaccine is given before the TST is administered, you must wait 4 to 6 weeks before getting the TST. Therefore, if you get live vaccines within 4 to 6 weeks of your medical exam, you will need to visit the panel physician again after the end of this waiting period to complete the TST, further delaying the issuance of your immigrant visa.”
